This place is beautiful. The service was attentive. Food was tasty. But the prices compared to the portions were offensive. Ordered the Tirokafteri( small portion of spicy feta dip, priced at $12. It was placed on our table with a basket containing 2 warm rolls. ( The dip was so small we only used 1 of the rolls) When we got the check we were charged $2 for the rolls that we did not order/ask for, just assumed it came with the dip. It's not the price but the principal. But alas, it's Rye so maybe it's just me. 3 stars because I left feeling like I had just been robbed. read more

Id suggest skipping this place and driving 10 mins up to Mediterraneo in Greenwich, ct. We arrived and had a reservation and the restaurant was empty except for one party and we were seated in the very back across from the back door where they kept opening to take out the trash, near the bathroom. The restaurant was totally empty and I could probably count at least 10 empty spaces for two. We asked to move and they gave us an issue even though the restaurant was pretty empty. Very rude hostess and owner but wait staff was wonderful. Overheard hostess rush everyone seated near us and said that they needed their table soon so they better order quick. Food was mediocre, soggy and tough tasted like they heated it up from a freezer. Everything is way better and fresh at Mediteraneo in Greenwich! Came here with my friend for dinner and had a fantastic experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and took the time to answer all our questions about the menu. The food and drinks were top notch I had the grilled Dorado, which was perfectly cooked, and my friend had the Lamb chops, which were equally delicious. The ambiance is beautiful and really adds to the overall experience. This place is exactly what Rye was missing. Definitely coming back! read more

Inexperienced and unprofessional. We we're treated poorly as soon as we arrived. We arrived on time for our 6:00 reservation but they couldn't find it. Not sure who was at fault here but with the hostess and manager both at the desk we cheerfully asked if they could seat our party of 4 anyway. the restaurant was mostly empty!! They said it would have to be for a short stay then changed that to "we can seat you at the bar." The other couple are locals and will spread the word. People must go for the ambiance because the food was mediocre at best. We ordered the hummus for an appetizer which was lackluster - I've had better from whole foods. My friend ordered the seafood pasta which she said was just ok. I ordered the lamb shish kabob which tasted like something I could have gotten at a street fair. If you want to try this place, know you're going for the vibe and to sit outside or at the bar and have a nice cocktail because you definitely won't be going for the food. The food was ok. However "ok" the food was, however, could not at all compensate for the poor service, amount of time waiting, and poor hospitality. Seriously, I had to call the waiter over multiple times to ask if the kitchen had forgotten about us. His response was something to the effect of "I don't control the kitchen. I'm the waiter. Don't blame me, please." We had a 7:30 reservation for 2 on a Tuesday night--hardly a peak time in Rye, and we waited 45 minutes for our appetizers with absolutely nothing on our table except our original place settings and water. Our waiter avoided eye contact with us despite passing our table multiple times. There was no apology for the inordinately long wait time, nor a simple offer of some bread for the table. About 30 minutes after the appetizers, our main course finally arrives. The whole fish for 2 is presented to us and then disappears out of our sight for about 10 minutes for it to be filleted. A huge platter is then placed in the middle of our tiny table with no serving utensils. Finally, we receive some utensils with no offer to remove the platter after I serve the fish to my husband and me. We had to ask for its removal so that we could have some room on the tiny table. There was a complete lack of caring or any feeling of hospitality. The whole experience was completely disappointing. It seemed to me that neither the kitchen nor wait staff knew what they were doing. We will not be going back. read more

ambiance is gorgeous, service was excellent. portion sizes were incredibly small, especially set against prices. the babaganoush was disappointingly bland. the orzo salad - at $20 - was tasty, but again, a tiny portion. the lamb skewers were very good. $40 good? not sure. the kicker was the $12 for a side order of feta cheese which was just tiny. I suspect everyone is going to try out the Antique Garage, but with so many alternatives within walking distance, there's going to need to be more value. read more

The restaurant is very nicely decorated and has a lovely patio. There was a DJ the night I was there although the music didn't seem to fit the crowd. The cocktails were pricey but very tasty and we enjoyed the hummus appetizer. However we were asked if we wanted bread with it for which we were charged an extra fee and it came out tasting stale. We sent it back trying to explain but our waiter Just kept saying so you don't like it and eventually did agree to bring us out pita instead. The chicken shish kebab and shrimp skewers were tasty but my fennel avocado salad was literally chopped up fennel with a lemon vinaigrette and a couple of cubes of avocado. I was hopeful that at least the dessert would be Good but the baklava was dry and tasteless. The waiter seemed quite rushed and when I asked him how the baklava was he just told me it was good and then walked away placing the order and not ever allowing me to even say I wanted to order it.
