Codfish Fritters Jerk Chicken Spring Rolls Wings of the Water ( bourbon chipotle bbq) Wings of Wings of the Water( guava tamarind)
    Stacey W.

The only reason I would rate it a 3/10 is because the place itself was very nice and had a pleasant atmosphere. We waited about 45 minutes to be seated and then another 40 minutes for our food, only for it to arrive cold. The service was okay, but definitely not enough to make up for the long wait and disappointing food. We also ordered the Jerk Chicken Egg Rolls, which the menu stated came with 4 egg rolls. What was actually served were 2 egg rolls cut in half, which technically made 4 pieces but felt misleading. I ordered the Bourbon Chipotle Chicken, but it tasted more like it had been covered in Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce than the flavor described on the menu. For the price, I expected much better quality and flavor. The drinks were also disappointing. I ordered a non-alcoholic mango martini, which tasted mostly like lemon juice. I then ordered a hibiscus lemonade and was initially served what tasted like lemon and sugar. After sending it back, I finally received the correct drink--but by then I had to take it to go. For the amount of money spent, the food quality, presentation, and overall experience did not match the expectations set by the menu. I'm not sure if the issues were with the kitchen staff or overall operations, but this visit was disappointing from start to finish. Unfortunately, I would not return based on this experience.

The Happy Hour food menu was absolutely delicious and worth every penny. But I will share my absolute favorite was jerk chicken spring rolls and Jalea. If you can't decide try both, and thank me later. The wings were also pretty good but nothing completely out of the ordinary. They are fried and sauced very well. So, I'm still on the path of looking for grilled wings that are seasoned well. The highlight of the experience besides the beautiful decor was the skinny margarita. Because I was initially hesitant to order it. Although, Bethany is cool...I don't like her Skinny Margarita Brand AT ALL. Sooooooo....I had to ask the waiter how it was made and I learned it's a regular margarita with less sugar. 10/10 :-)

My friend and I decided to check out The Water Grill, and we really enjoyed ourselves. We visited on a Thursday, and they had karaoke night. The DJ kept everyone engaged, playing and singing classic hits that created a fun atmosphere. We started with a few mojitos and appetizers, including the jerk chicken and cod fritters. The appetizers were okay, but the music, drinks, and overall vibe made for a great evening. My friend ordered the steak with asparagus and mac and cheese, which she rated a 3/5. While it wasn't exceptional, she still enjoyed her meal. The service was great, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Overall, I would definitely return to unwind, enjoy some food and drinks, and soak in the good vibes

A quick google search had us stumble upon this place and honestly I wish we would have. Choose something else .. The restaurant is beautiful . From the outside it doesn't look like much but when you come in it's small but cozy and decorated nicely . The seating was a little close together so be mindful of that . The waiter we had was friendly at first but the service got progressively worst because of the amount of traffic so it wasn't really his fault . There were only 3 servers and 2 very large parties .. I got the jerk chicken with Coleslaw , & rice and peas my friend got snapper with asparagus and plantains . We both were very disappointed . The food wasn't the best it came out luke warm and wasn't that tasty . The price point was expensive for what was received , the coleslaw tasted like it was out all day and my friend fish wasn't cooked all the way through .. the tiger shrimp and guac with chips appetizers were good . I also ordered a rum punch and it was ice with a side of mango nectar & a splash of rum lol definitely not worth $20! A busy night is not an excuse for under cooked food . The server did try his best to accommodate so we were grateful for that . Over all I would not return . Hopefully if you decide to try your experience is better than mine . Happy eating !

The ambience and service were good...I just wasn't impressed with the food or the drinks unfortunately. We all sampled each other dishes and I tried the oxtail and jerk chicken Mac and cheese rice and peas. Had the rum punch and 3 other cocktails. The presentation is there and it has flavor. I wanted to love this place but it's just a no for me personally. Great atmosphere though. I have nothing to say was done wrong it's just not my preference of taste.

Food was amazing and very tasty. Had the SPRING ROLLS Crispy rolls tamarind dipping sauce. Braised Oxtail tasted really delicious. Had to get an order to go Atmosphere was very relaxing. Staff was friendly and courteous. Highly recommend eating here

Yes yes and yes I went to Waters Grill when another restaurant flaked. So thankful they flaked as I would not have experienced Waters Grill. From the initial consultation Natasha was on point, showing me where my event would be if weather permitted. After consultation I received an email with the prix fix info. Booking was EXTREMELY easy and any question I had was answered promptly. My party was for 25 people. I chose 2pm when they opened. As I got there Natasha was very hands on putting the finishing touches on my Tables. Food was served family style, hot and most importantly extremely good. Food was Jalea mixta, oxtail egg rolls, tamarind wings, coconut curry salmon, jerk chicken, and oxtail, along with rice and peas, fries and fry plantain, carrot cake, and chocolate lava cake. Every last bit was on point. Drink of choice was rum punch which packs a punch. I also will say that Natasha was Soto attentive that when I asked for a cake table she quickly accomodated

Gorgeous space! Bar is beautifully lit and the tables are thoughtfully done all the way down to have a purse hook underneath of them. Food: Very well done for the most part. Here are my full thoughts: Wings: A must try! They have 4 different sauces and BBQ was by far our favorite. Thursdays they are $1 each for happy hour! Cod Fritters: Could use a little more flavor but still a must try! Oxtail were done perfectly but the peas and rice didnt have that authentic flavor for our table but a solid meal! Lomo Saltado: Excellent. No notes! The Waters Whole Snapper: Was our least favorite dish. Not much taste and it was the only plate still left with food on it by the end of the night. Mac & Cheese: Order 2! Soooo good and cheesy. Drinks were very good as well. The Rum Punch and Old Fashioned were our favorites. The Lychee Martini was not very good. Service: Impeccable! The waiters and bartender were friendly, attentive, and quick with the service. They actively listened and attended to us all evening. Vibe: On Thursdays there is a Karaoke moment from 4-9pm. It was like going to church you left there so inspired. The singing was amazing. The music choices were on point. A must see!

Waters Grill is such a gem in New Rochelle. Everything from the service, the food, and the vibe are amazing! It's Latin-Caribbean fusion. We came on Valentine's Day and had the oxtail spring rolls, jerk short ribs, and their cocktails -- SO GOOD! the staff is also on point. Shoutout to Ryan and Natasha!

When a restaurant is new I like to go check it out. We ventured to The Water's Grill. The ambiance was really nice, excellent decor. We were greeted by an extremely happy and welcoming staff. We chose to sit outside on the patio. The menu was pretty extensive, a lot of choices. We started with the bourbon chipotle wings and they were delicious, tender and well seasoned. We followed up with the Chaufa Del Mar with shrimp and the Lomo Saltado Filet Frites. Both dishes were plated and prepared very well. Both dishes brought out that authentic Latin flair. We were very pleased with our choices. For our drinks, we started with their rum punch made with my favorite - wray and nephew. The rum punch was really good, not too strong and definitely not too weak. The Water's Grill drink menu was extensive with a lot of choices. This was an excellent choice. The food and drinks were great. The staff was awesome, working as a team and the restroom had the latest technology.

My go-to's are ALWAYS the kale Caesar salad, truffle fries and the Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese is more of a cream sauce so it's not gooey like traditional Mac and cheese, but the flavor makes me come back to it every time I come. The truffle fries are always fried to perfection and pair so well with the Caesar salad (you can tell they make their own dressing). When I wanna switch it up I get the smashburger which is pretty good! I had my birthday dinner here last year so it was my family's first time coming here, so they all got smashburgers and were very pleased by the high quality of the meat and the flavor. I also like that they have mocktails! I don't drink so it's nice to have a mocktail option. I've only tried the Give Me A Minute mocktail which I'm very loyal to. It's a bit tart and sweet (the lavender syrup really brings it together), and I look forward to it each time I visit. Met the owner recently and he was very nice! Forgot to mention this in person but figure I'll put it here--if you add another plate option deal (happy hour?) that includes the Caesar salad, fries and a side of the Mac and cheese, me and my girlfriends would rather give you guys our money instead of venturing out to the city! Definitely consider coming here with some girlfriends after work for a nice drink and good eats. I've even come to dine on my own and enjoyed myself. One of my friends swears they have the best ice cream for dessert. Not sure if they still do trivia nights (never went but I'm hopeful! Seems like a fun time).

More of a creamy preparation, rather than cheesy or gooey. The wild mushroom pizza was tiny. The crust was a little chewy, but nice rich flavor. My husband enjoyed the lobster bucatini, but would've liked more pieces of lobster.

The service and food, on the other hand, were quite a mixed bag. We ordered a margherita pizza, pancake tacos, steak and eggs, and French toast with a side of sausage--the pizza, at least, was good. However, the "French toast" was more like an anemic panini press trying to pass as French toast. The steak and eggs comprised of a fairly well-cooked (that is, it was the right temperature) yet underseasoned steak of a relatively dubious cut, underseasoned home fries, and eggs done wrong (sunny side instead of over easy). The lattermost was the start of the problem, as I was willing to give it a shot, but found the texture off-putting. In light of this, I brought the problem to our server Adalia, who brought it to her manager Elvia. Thankfully I had someone else with me to tell me what happened: Elvia came over without addressing me on their error, silently took a look at my plate and instructed Adalia to have the kitchen put the eggs back on the fire. She takes my plate to extract the eggs, and brings them back (unsurprisingly) completely overdone, first in Elvia's hands, then in Adalia's for her to serve; we send for a refire, and they come back correct 7 minutes or so after I've already finished eating. Considering the hassle it took to get them, I couldn't trust it enough to eat, leading them to waste as well. After all was said and done, the GM Amer comes over to see how things were, and was thankfully helpful and understanding of our situation. Here's the rub: I was initially willing to overlook the steak, the home fries, and even the eggs if the error was properly ameliorated. Adalia and Amer both did very well, and I'm grateful for them for that; Elvia, on the other hand, managed to break the chain of competent customer service by directing the server to handle the problem in a way that was set up for failure (if you mess up an egg, it's an immediate refire because of how the egg cooks in the first place -- Amer also arrested to that policy) all without addressing us and taking accountability, due to negligence or whatever else. Not only that, but when sending the incorrect eggs over the second time, she couldn't even bring it to us herself--it would have been easy, seeing as she was the one that originally had them--and left Adalia and her tip to potentially take the fire if the patrons happen to be angry. Mistakes are fine--everyone makes them--but I'd describe this as cowardly more than anything else, and I take issue with that in particular from a leadership standpoint. While Amer graciously extended an invitation for a better experience next time, I can't say I'll be taking him up on the offer when their service and food are this misaligned; unfortunately, a disappointment overall.

Last night, however, was deeply disappointing. From the start, there was pressure to place food orders quickly, even though we were just settling in. We did order appetizers and later entrees--not an unreasonable timeline--but it felt like we were being hurried for no reason. The real issue came when we ordered a gluten-free pizza with toppings. What was delivered was essentially a round piece of bread with toppings -- not remotely what we expected. We tried several times to flag down the bartender, who proved extremely difficult to get the attention of. When we finally spoke to him and explained the error, the pizza was taken back, but then... nothing. We waited. And waited. More than 30 minutes passed while the rest of us finished our meals -- and still no replacement pizza. When we brought it up again, the bartender's attitude was indifferent at best. Frustrated, I went to the hostess stand and explained the situation. To their credit, the response was immediate: a manager stepped in, apologized, offered a round of drinks on the house, and ensured the corrected dish came out quickly. That level of service--from the manager and hostess--was appreciated and helped salvage the evening, but the overall experience was the worst we've ever had at The Modern. We may go back, but it will be with hesitation. The service at the bar needs serious attention. A restaurant of this caliber should never let service--or guest experience--slip this far.
