Came here for the first time with hubby and fam, to celebrate hubby's birthday. They have a decent happy hour menu with drink and app discounts that we were able to order at the table. Karaoke was in full swing and the hosts are very talented. We made reservations but it was not packed this particular Thursday evening. It was very hot so we stayed indoors but I would have liked very much to sit outside. They have a nice location. Everyone was veyr nice, from hostess to bussers; our server was very attentive. We started off with some drinks, and their jerk spring rolls and codfish fritters. Everything was really good. Hubby had their lomo saltado. He said it was OK but the rice was dry and it wasn't served as it should be, with the sauté on top of the French fries. I had the ribeye with mac & cheese and cabbage slaw. The steak temp was perfect, as was the mac. The slaw was bland - I wish I ordered a different side. My kiddo had their chicken fingers w/French fries, and liked it. My MIL had their pollo a la brasa, and enjoyed it as well. We surprised hubby with a happy birthday red velvet slice and headed out. Service was great and it was a vibe with the live music. My friend and I came here for an early dinner. We were seated quickly and were immediately impressed by how beautiful the restaurant was. The ambiance and aesthetics definitely lived up to the hype, and our waitress was kind, attentive, and did her best throughout the night. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill because of the wait. We arrived and were seated around 7:45 PM, but we didn't receive our food until about 9:15 PM. We ordered a Caesar salad, oxtail spring rolls, lomo, and jerk chicken. After waiting for what felt like forever, our waitress explained that our order had been given to the wrong table. While I appreciated her honesty, it was frustrating that it took so long for the mistake to be noticed and corrected. As for the food, I'd give it a 3.5/10. It had potential, but overall it just missed the mark for me. After such a long wait, I expected much better. We were only offered 15% off the bill, which didn't really feel like adequate compensation for a 90-minute wait caused by the restaurant's mistake. We waited about 45 minutes to be seated and then another 40 minutes for our food, only for it to arrive cold. The service was okay, but definitely not enough to make up for the long wait and disappointing food. We also ordered the Jerk Chicken Egg Rolls, which the menu stated came with 4 egg rolls. What was actually served were 2 egg rolls cut in half, which technically made 4 pieces but felt misleading. I ordered the Bourbon Chipotle Chicken, but it tasted more like it had been covered in Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce than the flavor described on the menu. For the price, I expected much better quality and flavor. The drinks were also disappointing. I ordered a non-alcoholic mango martini, which tasted mostly like lemon juice. I then ordered a hibiscus lemonade and was initially served what tasted like lemon and sugar. After sending it back, I finally received the correct drink--but by then I had to take it to go. For the amount of money spent, the food quality, presentation, and overall experience did not match the expectations set by the menu. They put grapefruit juice in the Sangria!!! Ugh. The ambiance would have been great, but the music was much too loud!! The DJ played a great musical selection of old school R&B, hip hop, reggae, reggaeton and soka.; it was just, too loud. It was hard to hear my friend or to carry on a conversation. The Happy Hour food menu was absolutely delicious and worth every penny. But I will share my absolute favorite was jerk chicken spring rolls and Jalea. If you can't decide try both, and thank me later. The wings were also pretty good but nothing completely out of the ordinary. They are fried and sauced very well. So, I'm still on the path of looking for grilled wings that are seasoned well. The highlight of the experience besides the beautiful decor was the skinny margarita. Because I was initially hesitant to order it. Although, Bethany is cool...I don't like her Skinny Margarita Brand AT ALL. A quick google search had us stumble upon this place and honestly I wish we would have. Choose something else .. The restaurant is beautiful . From the outside it doesn't look like much but when you come in it's small but cozy and decorated nicely . The seating was a little close together so be mindful of that . The waiter we had was friendly at first but the service got progressively worst because of the amount of traffic so it wasn't really his fault . There were only 3 servers and 2 very large parties .. I got the jerk chicken with Coleslaw , & rice and peas my friend got snapper with asparagus and plantains . We both were very disappointed . The food wasn't the best it came out luke warm and wasn't that tasty . The price point was expensive for what was received , the coleslaw tasted like it was out all day and my friend fish wasn't cooked all the way through .. the tiger shrimp and guac with chips appetizers were good . I also ordered a rum punch and it was ice with a side of mango nectar & a splash of rum lol definitely not worth $20! A busy night is not an excuse for under cooked food . My friend and I decided to check out The Water Grill, and we really enjoyed ourselves. We visited on a Thursday, and they had karaoke night. The DJ kept everyone engaged, playing and singing classic hits that created a fun atmosphere. We started with a few mojitos and appetizers, including the jerk chicken and cod fritters. The appetizers were okay, but the music, drinks, and overall vibe made for a great evening. My friend ordered the steak with asparagus and mac and cheese, which she rated a 3/5. When a restaurant is new I like to go check it out. We ventured to The Water's Grill. The ambiance was really nice, excellent decor. We were greeted by an extremely happy and welcoming staff. We chose to sit outside on the patio. The menu was pretty extensive, a lot of choices. We started with the bourbon chipotle wings and they were delicious, tender and well seasoned. We followed up with the Chaufa Del Mar with shrimp and the Lomo Saltado Filet Frites. Both dishes were plated and prepared very well. Both dishes brought out that authentic Latin flair. We were very pleased with our choices. For our drinks, we started with their rum punch made with my favorite - wray and nephew. The rum punch was really good, not too strong and definitely not too weak. The Water's Grill drink menu was extensive with a lot of choices. This was an excellent choice. Here are my full thoughts: Wings: A must try! They have 4 different sauces and BBQ was by far our favorite. Thursdays they are $1 each for happy hour! Cod Fritters: Could use a little more flavor but still a must try! Oxtail were done perfectly but the peas and rice didnt have that authentic flavor for our table but a solid meal! This was our first visit to Water's Grill in New Rochelle, and we came for an early family dinner around 5:00 p.m. There were five of us, and although the main dining room was nearly empty, we were asked to wait about 10-15 minutes for a table. When we were finally seated, it was in a small area near the kitchen and restrooms. As a guest, that was disappointing, especially when so many beautiful tables in the main dining room overlooking the marina were available. Those tables near the kitchen and restrooms should really be reserved as a last resort, not when the restaurant is largely empty. I spoke with the manager, Ryan, and I want to commend him for how professionally he handled the situation. He immediately put two tables together in the main dining room with a lovely marina view, which completely changed the experience. Thank you, Ryan, for listening and resolving the issue so quickly. The service was a little slow, but everyone was pleasant, and the food was good. Overall, we had an enjoyable evening, and because of Ryan's excellent customer service, we would certainly consider returning. My only suggestion is to be more thoughtful about first impressions. Where you initially seat guests can set the tone for the entire dining experience. For the main course I ordered the Lomo Saltado and my Girl ordered the Jerk Chicken. The dishes were good overall...but I felt the rice was probably pre-cooked. My only real complaint was the karaoke music. We were seated outside...but they had these speakers that were almost blasting the karaoke music from inside. It was way too loud and kinda ruined the overall experience...though the view of the water and boats was very pretty anyway. It's a nice place, and it does have potential. I would say this place is a new gem brand new. It oversees the water on any good summer night you could sit here and have a beautiful night, I will say as a New Yorker the service is so good it honestly almost bothers me how nice they are Lol and that's when I knew I was the problem. The food was excellent. The service was great. Try the burger juicy to the tea. Immediately turned off at the situation but we all decided to not say anything. Came with family and kids. No kids menu were provided, until we asked for it. The atmosphere is vibrant and fun. This place is on the water so there is a nice view and the decor is fun. The menu is somewhat limited, but what we had was good: the limo soltando was very nice. They did have good Happy Hour specials for food and drink. The service was lacking. We waited 20 minutes to get a drink, and at that point the place was not crowded at all. We sat with dirty dinner plates for 20 minutes or more before they were cleared and asked about dessert. It took so long to get dessert we ended up canceling it and just getting the check. Total dinner time over 2 hours. Maybe somebody would like that unhurried service. But seeing others who came after us get served before us was disheartening. read more
