Even though I live nearby, I hadn't noticed that this little corner had a taqueria with such a nice seating area. Jack suggested we try the taqueria close to me, but I told him we should go across Tennyson to another spot I was more familiar with. So we went there instead. It was a nice meal, and for the first time in my life, I had horchata - he knew I would love it. I still remember him saying, "I thought we were going to the one closer to you!" He was talking about this place :Taqueria La Placita. I thought we would have another chance to come here together. Life doesn't always give you that chance. About a month later, he passed away in an accident. I spent the rest of 2023 in a very dark place. After some time, on a normal evening when I was craving Mexican food, I came here alone and ordered a super veggie burrito. The interior is divided into two sections- one with dining tables of different heights, and another with a bar-style seating area facing wall-mounted TVs. There are also screens displaying the menu with rotating photos of different dishes. This place immediately gave me a sense of comfort. The burrito came wrapped in foil, along with a paper bag of tortillas and salsa. The packaging and service were excellent. The dining area was clean and well-organized, and there were plenty of people enjoying their meals. I regret missing that one opportunity to come here with Jack. I can only imagine how beautiful that memory would have been. Every time I stand in line here, I think about it - I picture us sitting together, eating at this taqueria. I wish I could tell him how good this place is, if he could hear me. This is a memory I can't share with him, so I'm sharing it here instead. I hope that anyone who reads this will understand both the happiness and the sorrow behind it--the story of me, Jack, and the one missed chance to eat together at this place.
