Amazing food, always delicious never has let me down when I'm looking for some really good Portuguese food!

The portion size was excellent. On a scale of 1 to 10 the food was a seven. if you're in the area, it is worth a try.

Out of this world! I had grilled marinated quail. Comes with crispy salad, fresh broccoli, superb rice. Three (3!) fantastic birds splayed on the plate, grilled in garlic. Side of light peppery gravy. Fabulous. My friend had the marinated pork, littleneck clam, roast potato dish in a big bowl. So great. He had to take half of it home. Including a Smuttynose beer and a glass of top notch Casa de Santar red Portuguese wine, the total bill came to $38. Incredible Hall of Fame meal. Worth a detour when heading to the Cape from anywhere. read more

This is one of my top favorite restaurants to go to. I probably will go every other week in the summer when spending weekends at the in-laws. I have tried a fair number of things on the menu (I don't know the names of every dish) but my favorite dishes are the Shrimps and Little Necks Antonio, Surf and Turf, Steak Antonio Style, The Pork Ribetjeana, Seafood Stew, and the baked stuff shrimp. Many other good dishes. They atmosphere is lively and welcoming. Service is great and it is very kid friendly. All the servers seem like your aunt, sister or grandmother mother. Went here for dinner the other night in large part because of the reviews received here on Yelp. It has an old country cozy feel to it, like eating at your Portuguese relatives house. We started with the chicken wings and stuffed quahog. The wings were fried and came with pepper rings and olives. Pretty straight forward but well cooked and came with a side of blue cheese. The quahog was among the best I've had. It had a nice flavor and wasn't skimpy. The entrees we ordered were the bife à Antonios and the pork alentejana. The bife was steak topped with two eggs and sides of seasoned rice and hand cut fries. The Alentejana portion was huge and came with the traditional littlenecks, seasoned pork and cubes of fried potatoes. Both were well cooked and delicious. No one is leaving this place hungry. If you're looking for a place that serves large portions of excellent Portuguese food, this would be a place to go. read more

So, tonight we ordered take out and it was absolutely terrible. I cannot remember ever writing a review to state such poor quality and taste! my hub and I love food. We both enjoy cooking as well. He ordered a simple fish and chips and I ordered pork alentejana (a popular, easily prepared Portuguese dish). The fried fish was extremely overcooked and had a very strong smell. It was actually grey in color! The alentejana base was so vinegary that it made it inedible! Having had worked in the restaurant business many years, I certainly am considerate of circumstances and ALWAYS polite in light of consideration. Having said that, it even began with with the most rude and abrupt "hostess" taking my phone order! $47.00 plus later and inedible dinner is worthy of pen to paper. Shame on you, Antonio's! This was my first time at Antonio's and I was surprised how many people were there yesterday evening! I ordered the quahog to start and it was so delicious! I got the paella for one as my main dish and was surprised when it came. I'm a huge paella fan and this was my first time having "Portuguese paella". It was made with a red sauce and had clams, chicken, beef chunks, shrimp and lobster. I'm definitely used to having paella with calamari and sausage rather than beef and lobster. Overall it was pretty good the chicken was pretty dry. The service was complete shit as could be expected for the amount of people there. The prices were pretty low for the amount of food as well. Yesterday, I went to Antonio's, I heard that it had lost a step over the years, however, had to try for myself due to them having Mozambique Shrimp. I ordered a cup of chowder & it was watery & claims you could tell came out of a jar. Rather shocked being New Bedford, Seaford Capital of USA. Then I ordered the Mozambique shrimp with spaghetti, It came in a big plate of soupy spaghetti that wasn't fit for a dog, Having spent 10 years in Africa & ate at Costa Del Sol in Maputo many times. Shrimp there have long tails & short heads. The little shrimp I got with my spaghetti at Antonio's was comical, at this point I am trying to keep it together & not be rude & chalk it up as a loss. When I asked for grated cheese my waitress disappeared, I tried to explain to waitress what Mozambique shrimp are really like & she starts arguing with me, so I took the high rode & kept my mouth shut, did not want to cause a scene. It was an awful experience, just paid my bill & ran for the door. I strongly do not recommend this place on my worst enemy. read more

This place is very famous around the SE coast. We got there around 6:30 pm on a Friday night and we waited about 20 minutes for a table. The wait staff is friendly and smiley. Generally speaking, Portuguese food is very salty for me, so I asked for a grilled mahi mahi with half the salt, they usually use. It came with rice and broccoli. The meal was good...the rice was still a bit salty for me, but combining it with the fish, it was good. Some of my friends got the paella and the little necks...both delicious, but very salty for my own taste. Overall a nice spot if you like Portuguese fare. No reservations, but they do take credit cards now. read more

Coming home from Cape Cod I stopped here for dinner after reading my friend John B's review of Antonio's. I sat at the bar and had a small order of the sardine and I could barely finish it. The fish was great and it came with a side of rice and a salad. Had two Carlsbad beers, you don't see that on tap to often, and the bill came out to $16. The people at the bar could not have been nicer and this is a real great place to stop for a great meal. read more

Great Portuguese restaurant but more authentic Portuguese food can be found in the south end of the city. Mozambique sauce is pretty awesome. Lots of food for the price, casual atmosphere, good family restaurant. read more

Some friends of mine, who know me very well, took me out the other night to this place. Loved it. I hate to miss out on a chouriço moment when in the area, and thought I'd start my meal with a bit of Portuguese sausage. They don't have it on the menu, but were happy to send out a grilled Linguiça instead. Much, much happier than a salad IMHO. The menu specials included a number of tempting options, including whole quail and lamb chops; but I couldn't turn away from the rabbit. A Braised Rabbit, served Mozambique style, with rice and sliced, fried potatoes. The rich tender protein was glorious, bathed in warm roasted flavors of garlic and piri piri peppers. It is really a finger food, rabbit doesn't fall off the bone like other braised meats, and I made quite a mess. Totally worth it, it was darn good. The Pork Alentejana and Bife à Antonio's were also big hits, but the Beef Tenderloin Tips were a bit of a miss. Not the best cut of meat in the house. Great night, great place. read more

So Antonio's Restaurant has been a staple for our family since I was a child, and recently I had the pleasure of coming back to this incredible restaurant. This weekend we dropped into this restaurant for a family dinner and we were quickly reminded of how delicious the food was. We started with the shrimp cakes which were homemade and incredible. On top of that, the shrimp Mozambique as well as the Portuguese rolls were great. When it came to our meal we bought the surf and turf which was seasoned and cooked perfectly. In the end, we haven't had a great meal like this in a very long time and we are so excited that we were able to come back to this amazing restaurant. read more

I didn't love this place as much I expected to. My mom loved it though, she wanted to return back the next day! The staff was nice, but I found myself struggling to understand them occasionally. We ordered two meat croquettes, but they brought us the wrong order at first. It was good though. The mussels were spicy! The Paella was good but to heavy for my liking. My mom ordered the sardines, and she loved them. We left with a lot of left overs! read more

I am a long time customer almost from when it opened. Always was happy with it. Lately food has not been up to previous standards. I have never written a review before but the food yesterday was horrible. I purchased 3 kale soups as I buy for myself as well as a couple elderly relatives. It wasn't even edible. Broth was thicker than I have ever seen and it was all broth, very little kale, no potatoes or beans. Whoever filled those containers knew they were selling garbage and still did it. Wow! I probably spend a couple thousand dollars a year there. No more,at least for a while. I also will no longer recommend Antonio's to anyone. You also lost the other 2 families I bought for. What a shame, one of my favorite restaurants down the drain. read more

Just got the best take out from Antonio's! My family has gone here for years for dine in but the take out was just as good if not better! Had a HUGE "paella for 1" (probably could have fed 4) tons of lobster, clams, shrimp, mussels, scallops! Got the "cacoila sandwich" but they boxed it differently for take out, ended up with a huge portion or marinated meat and potatoes and some fresh bread on the side. Also got a pint of Kale Soup to finish it off. Such a feast for $32!! Fed two with tons of leftovers! I really appreciate local businesses staying open to make life seem a little more normal during these tough times! Will have to add this to our weekly routine :)....(Remember to tip your take out person, times are tough and if you can still afford take out, you can afford to support the staff as well) read more

Really bad. We got the suckling pig that was super salty. The bean dish which had meat in it and pig toes. Don't get that. The cod was ok. But super salty as well. Giant portion but they charge you more for half portions. Don't fall for this and head somewhere else instead. read more

My buddy and I came here on a weekend to grab a quick dinner and I gotta say I was quite impressed by the quality of food and service, and it helps the price was fair as well. We got there at 7ish and the place was pretty packed at both their restaurant and cafe/bar section. But somehow my buddy got a table and we sat down pretty quick without waiting, and remember they don't take reservations. The owner was quite friendly and suggested the shrimp rotisserie for appetizer which was quite big (at least 15 pieces) for a starter. Then we picked the Paella dish for one individual which again was huge and definitely big enough for two+ which was the case for us. So I think I made my point clear that their portions are large and the price was fair. We both ended up paying about $20 each, and that includes two Portuguese beers which had a good light flavour. The service was pretty good and responsive so no complaints there. The crowd is mostly family type or older folks. In addition, I seen some reviews complain about the decor and I say the decor is fine, not fancy and just normal and homely which is fine for this type of restaurant. So overall, definitely a must try for anyone who likes this type of food and near the area; kinda sucks it's this far away from downtown Boston area, even from my place took like 40 minute drive but well worth it. read more

Really, what more can be said about this place? Antonio's serves 4-star-food in a 2-star-environment. It features easy access, lot parking and serves authentic Portuguese cuisine in ginormous portions. The waitstaff is largely a no-frills operation, so don't expect superior customer service. Besides, the pricing matrix is all wrong for that sort of treatment. If you want to be ass-kissed, go drop your paycheck at Hemenway's. In my mind, Antonio's rests securely in a position of relevance with the other well-known Southeastern New England Portuguese restaurants. The food kicks the salivary glands into high gear and the bill won't startle you at the conclusion of your meal. However, unlike many of its competitors, Antonio's leaves something to be desired in its overall experience. I don't know if it's the lighting, layout, setting, customers, servers, music, general ambiance or some combination of these factors, but for me, it has never stood up to its hype. Not to mention the fact that for such a busy place, credit cards are still shunned. I'm sorry, it's the 21st century and forcing plastic-carrying customers to pay bank fees at the on-site ATM does little to recompense patrons for your aversion to pay the usual charges for credit usage. So get with the times and provide us with a little convenience. After all, some of us have sky miles to build. read more

This is by far the best Portuguese restaurant I have ever been to. The food is so homey and sits nice and warm in your stomach. They don't take cards which is fine by me cause I always carry cash. My only gripe is that the place is small and sometimes cramped depending on how many people are there. But the food makes it all worth it. I drive 38 miles to go to this place. I started with a chowder which is so flavorful. I always order a few dishes and split with my group. The usual rotation is chicken antonios, cacoila, and seafood paella.
