I have been going to Anton's for many years but my last visit was my final visit. They charged me over $50 to dry clean my husband's blazer. When I asked why the price was so high they responded "because it's suede and needed to be sent out". I explained that the coat was microfiber and did not need any special care. Anton's had cleaned this particular blazer on several other occasions and there was never an additional charge. The woman stated that they had already paid to send it out for "special care" and I would have to pay for it. Ridiculous! read more

I have been using Sturgis as my sole dry cleaner for over a year now. I can I say I don't have a single complaint about the quality of service they have provided. I have found them to be fast, not too pricey and good at what they do. My clothes are always returned cleaned and pressed nicely. Also, they turn my clothes around in a day, or two at the most. They usually ask when I would like them which is nice. I only wish they were open later than 6 pm. The girls working up front are friendly and efficient. I have never had to have anything tailored so I can't speak from personal experience in that area. I know of a few people that have had things altered and they all had good things to say. So if you are living in South Boston and need a good and dependable dry cleaner, I would recommend them. read more

I had a terrible experience here. The service is so bad. The girls behind the counter gossip and check their cell phones before they help you. Also I was charged $100 to shorten a dress for a bridal party. All of the other bridesmaids only had to pay $40 and under for the same alteration. When I arrived at the wedding my strap was ripped and I had to pin my dress together with a safety pin. There was also a small rip at the bottom of my dress that tore more as the night went on. If you're ever in a rush and need your clothes by a certain time, sturgis is the place for you. My favorite dry cleaners. Very friendly staff and dog-friendly. If you drop off before 9am Mon-Fri, you can get it same day after 3pm. Not applicable for Saturday. to get it next day after 3pm. My stains always come out of my shirts. I eat pretty messy and oil usually splashes on my shirt. In the moment I get worried, however Sturgis is always there for my shirts. Fast and effective service, good customer service and very polite with needy customers with a lot of stains. Disappointed with the lack of attention to detail. I chose this alterations place based on their + reviews. They were to take 1.5" off the sleeves of a lace blouse and attached a separate piece of lace to the sleeves. The stitch was too tight giving the sleeves and lace a sloppy look. Literally the best dry cleaner and tailor I've ever been to. I get my husband's suits and work shirts dry cleaned here and they do a great job. You can get things cleaned same day if you go in before 10am, but for sure they will have it done by the next day! I took a bridesmaid dress in with no appointment and they had it all measured and pinned up in less than 10 minutes. Even better, they said it would only take a week & it was already completely altered the NEXT day! Such great service & great work. Not bad pricing either, they are very fair. Sturgis Dry Cleaners is a business that you can't help but love. The owner understands customer service in a way that is very rare to find in this day and age. He's attentive to your concerns and is masterful at putting you at ease. There is just something about interacting with them that actually puts me in a much better mood than I had been previously. They just know how to treat people. I have a fond place in my heart for Sturgis because of this. In regards to the product, the dry cleaning itself is above average. I wouldn't say that it's without flaws, but it is very passable. I do not believe that they outsource their cleaning, so if you ask for specific care on an item, you will usually get it. I have noticed that they seem to meld a plastic/rubbery barcode onto your dress shirts on the very bottom inside of the right button line. This definitely bugged me as I felt as if a heads up was in order if they were going to do something of this nature. It's still unclear to me if the barcode can be removed; it's quite bizarre. I have had multiple pairs of suit pants hemmed here, and one altered. The hems always come out well and the the pair that I had altered (had the leg taken in a bit) came out well enough that I can't even remember or tell which pair had the work done to it. I felt comfortable enough with their alterations that I currently have a very expensive pair of suit pants having the leg being taken in as we speak. I won't say that the tailoring is top tier, or even close to it, but they seem to do simple things quite well. My collection of work clothes has been painstakingly built over the period of a few years and is quite expensive. I have been to many dry-cleaners over the years that I would not trust to do a good job on my clothes, and Sturgis is not one of them. In fact, they are about the only one that I do trust. Beyond that, I know that even if they do mess something up slightly, I'm going to love them anyways, because they've earned it. read more

I went to Sturgis last week because I stupidly decided to cook dinner in a silk dress (who does that?); I ended up getting cooked oil stains on the dress. I tried to clean it myself, but after no avail, decided to go to Sturgis. I think I met the owner, very nice guy and assured me that he would get the stain out AND fix the discoloring that had been done when I tried to clean the spot myself! It wasn't TOO expensive, overall I am very very happy and will be bringing all my dry cleaning there! read more

We have a summer & ski house in VT which we rent out by the week/weekend. Five bedrooms of sheets every weekend needed to be changed. Six months ago, we learned that Sturgis launders and presses sheets for a lot of hotels. WOW (!) and they do it in a single day turn around in most cases, 48 hours tops. We are so thrilled with the service. The sheets/duvets/cases are gorgeous and our guests love the freshly laundered & pressed beds when they arrive. We used to send our bedding out locally but they needed to be in by Sat at 1 to get them back in a week... otherwise two! I don't know what we would do without Sturgis. read more

Do not use this dry cleaner. I went to this place for two years and they did an ok job. Occasionally, my shirts came back with odd marks or stains, but I accepted that these types of things happen with dry cleaning. Recently, however, I brought a brand new expensive dress shirt which I brought in to be cleaned after wearing it for the second or third time. The shirt came back with a gigantic bleach mark on the stomach. When I raised the issue with the manager, he claimed they didn't use bleaching chemicals (there are no bleaching chemicals at my office and all my dress clothes go into their own hamper. Clearly I did not bleach the shirt, also, the shirt wasn't marked with the "stain" stickers that are generally applied when a stain is spotted before a shirt is cleaned). The manager claimed he would send the shirt for testing to determine the source and to check back in a week. Its been 6 weeks and I have been back twice, both times he acted surprised that I had followed up and said the results were not back. It's one thing to provide poor service, but it's another to be so cavalierly indifferent to your long-time customers. The possibility for occasional poor service or an accident always exist, but a quality business can be trusted to do right by their customers when such situations arise. Sturgis' reaction to this situation demonstrates that they do not care about their customers and are willing to lie to them rather than face a problem for which they are responsible. read more

I've been to Sturgis a few times and always regret going back. This time was no different. Pants had a seam issue that I asked them to fix. They fixed 85% of it but part of the seam was not fixed so I had to go back in and asked them to patch it up again. Came home to find one of my sweaters that had been dry cleaned full of holes!!! There were no holes in this sweater when I took it in just one stain and it now has to be thrown out. So disappointed, don't take anything here but dry cleaning that you don't really care about. Alteration Nightmares: I have been going here for the last few years and cannot express my complete disappointment as of late. They were good and have just gone downhill. The last few things I have brought in for alterations have been completely butchered and I've had to go back TWICE to have them fix it. Not to mention their prices are INSANE - they charged me $130 to hem a dress and take in the straps. When I called to complain about the last issue (a hem they charged more for than the dress cost) the girl said 'Oh you've only brought it in once' as if this were normal I will not be bringing my items there any longer and I would suggest you find somewhere else as well. read more

I was in town for a wedding and when I was at the terminal (LOGAN) going up the escalator my sports jacket got caught in the track and was covered with grease...back, front, sleeves. Until today, I had been a Sturgis customer for almost 20 years and I rarely had a complaint even if they did constantly over-starch my shirts. A week ago I went to pick up my clothes which had been dropped off a few days prior. My shirts were ready, but they couldn't find my dry cleaning; 2 pairs of pants and two sweaters. The young lady at the counter couldn't physically find them or any record of them in the system. She started checking other tickets that came in around the same time as mine. Nothing. There were people behind me and the young lady was getting stressed, so I offered to come back. She took my cell phone number and promised to call me the next day which was Weds. No call ever came. I called them on Thursday and explained that I was missing clothes. The young lady on the phone promised to call me back by that afternoon. No call ever came. I called again on Friday and had to go through the whole thing again with someone new, who couldn't find anything related to my missing clothes. She assured me that Peter, the owner, who had apparently been away for a few days, would be back on Saturday and promised to have him call me. No call ever came. No call came on Monday either. I had almost given up, but made one more call and asked for Peter. I explained the situation to him and a few minutes later he came back on the phone and told me my clothes were all set. I asked what happened and he explained something about them being placed on the wrong rack. So when, if ever, were they going to call me to tell me they had found my clothes? That night on my way home, I stopped in to pick up my newly found clothes. No apology, not even an acknowledgement of the abysmal customer service. And the right thing to do for all of the hassle they put me through would have been not to charge me, but they did. Not even a discount. I had already gone out and purchased some replacement items because I was convinced I'd never see them again. I plucked the drop-off bag off the hangar and put it on the counter and told the young lady I wouldn't be needing it any more. This is not the way to treat any customer, much less one who has been bringing you his business for almost 20 years. Unforgivable. I'm done. read more

I'm in the Army and friend of mine was killed in Afghanistan and I had to leave immediately to go to New Jersey to be on the Honor Guard for his return.
