Second time coming here and I'm in love with their blue elephant and English breakfast milk tea. They're my go to drinks when I go there. The house fried rice is really good especially since I'm picky with green onions but surprisingly I eat them well with this rice dish. Oh and their house garlic noodles are so good that I always want to eat more than I really could. The atmosphere here is actually pretty relaxing since both times I've come here I've eaten at the cafe. My husband and I stopped by on a Sunday in August before they did their grand opening. We wanted to grab some pho and gets some iced coffee after and found this spot on Yelp with the best of both worlds. I was a bit skeptical because it's pretty hard to get both of those things right at restaurants and coffee shops that only sell one of the two but Anvi's really delivered. The staff were all pretty friendly and nice but what really sold us was the food. The pho was tasty and cooked perfectly, it was so good that that we really wanted to give my compliments to the chef in person lol. The ambiance is good too there wasn't a lot of people when we went but it has a university/student hangout spot vibe free WiFi/plenty of open tables and they have a few photo booths. We ordered 1 combination pho with chicken, tofu, and veggies and 1 steak pho. We also ordered their Parmesan fries. The pho came out steaming hot, and everything tasted great the broth, the noodles, the tofu was crispy and the chicken was cooked perfectly. My husband also really enjoyed his pho and we both agreed this was some of the best pho we have tried. After I got the banana matcha which was also really good and even though I'm sensitive to caffeine I didn't have any adverse reactions to it. We aren't from this area but next time we are around we will definitely be back. Anvi's Cafe is a sight for sore eyes in the run down looking strip mall it's located in. It's taken over the space that was previously different pho restaurants. The food is excellent and staff are helpful and friendly. We ordered the, fresh spring rolls, pho chin (brisket), shaken beef with garlic noodles, and combination rice dish with chicken and pork. Everything tasted great and I thought the portions were generous if not just right. The pho soup was perfect. All this food was more than enough to feed my family of 4 (2 adults and two young kids). The space is warm and inviting. I appreciate the Vietnamese cafe concept with great coffee and tea drinks and pastries, small plates and entrees. Something for everyone if you're there for a coffee run or for food (or both). We tried a couple coffee drinks a few days ago and today picked up some pastries and an iced hojicha latte after our meal. All very yummy. We came today for dinner (a Saturday evening) and saw a lot of young people there with their laptops. I found this place on TikTok after someone posted that no one gives Avni as much credit as it deserves -- and they were right! The moment you walk in, the vibe is super welcoming. It's an open, beautiful space with a mix of a café and pho restaurant feel. I only came in for coffee this time, but I'll definitely be coming back to try the food. I went with the Vietnamese Marble coffee, which was a 10/10! It was highly recommended by the cashier, and I'm so glad I listened. Came here during the week with my cousin. There are signs everywhere mentioning that they're understaffed and asking guests to order first before finding a table if dining in. I decided to get the shaken beef plate. The portion was good and the flavor was good, but I know I've had better. I also wanted to try their popcorn chicken, which I ended up regretting. It lacked flavor and crunch, and the ranch dip wasn't very good either. My cousin asked if we could get a different dipping sauce, I think sweet & sour, but the girl ended up handing her the fish sauce that comes with the shrimp egg rolls. ‍ I did enjoy the Ferrero Rocher Crunch Coffee though! It was really good and surprisingly not too sweet. My cousin got the combination rice plate, which says you can pick 2 proteins. She chose shrimp, but the lady didn't ask her for a second protein and they ended up giving her another protein, which we think was pork. It was actually good, and the portion was great. She also got the shrimp egg roll, which was delicious! One thing I really liked walking in was the nostalgia. They have a mirror at the front with the old-school "Paint" computer design, plus an iPod-looking mirror in the back. They also have a photo booth, although we didn't get a chance to check it out. I came to Anvi's during the weekend at around noon. It wasn't particularly packed in there, about 4 groups of people inside that were eating pho. I hate to be the person to knock the rating on their reviews, but I had waited in line for 15 minutes and then I waited for 30 minutes after ordering for one singular latte. No it wasn't sitting in the back or on the shelf and it wasn't due to myself not asking for it. It genuinely wasn't ready. One latte. I get it, they had numerous signs up saying they were understaffed, and that they are in the process of transitioning, but at some point we all get past our waiting point. You could tell that everyone inside had been waiting forever and was getting angsty. I too can understand a 20 minute wait for one latte. But 45 minutes total that I waited at this place to make one latte is unacceptable. I went to this place over my usual spot and I knew i regretted it immediately as soon as i was waiting in line. In my experience at pho restaurants in orange county, they move extremely fast because it is broth and noodles they combine. And I can't think of any justification on why one latte or pho would be a 45 minute wait. I will never be back here. This place has only been open a few months and they have signs on their door and at the cashier saying they are training new team members so please be patient. So I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and update this review in a few months after I try them again. My first impression is that this place has the potential to be something great but it's got some distance to go to get there. It's currently a thousand times better than the Happy Pho restaurant that used to be here before them but that's a low bar. I ordered their special "Dac Biet" pho, spring rolls "goi cuon", popcorn chicken, and banana toffee milk drink. The pho broth itself was pretty good and I think that's the anchor for their potential success in the future. But the execution of the pho itself needs some work and improvement. My noodles were underdone so they were all stuck together in the bottom of the bowl. I had to let it sit for about 15 minutes before the noodles were soft and separated enough to eat. While I was waiting for the noodles to soften, I tried the rest of the bowl. My meat was overcooked. It was well done and tough to chew. Most of the time you prefer pho meat on the rare side as it continues to cook in the broth but the meat I got was very well done. But overall I think the pho is ok for now given the flavor of the broth. If they clean up these mistakes, it might be great in the future. I normally ask for nuoc beo (fatty onion oil) with my pho to add some extra flavor to the broth when I go to pho restaurants but I didn't do so here because they charge $2 extra for it. Aside from the pho, the banana toffee drink was actually really good. Given that this place is a cafe, I will say that I was impressed by their drink and would come back for more of their other drinks. That was the good part of the meal, now onto the bad. My goi cuon spring rolls were terrible. They were bland and so tasteless that I didn't finish them. They were also exceptionally dry as if they'd be sitting out all day which just added to the blandness. I wouldn't order them again. The popcorn chicken had good seasoning but I was underwhelmed by the dish. It was very small pieces of chicken meat. Some of the pieces were almost like fried crumbs. On top of that, I think they were cooked for too long because several pieces were burnt. Another dish I likely wouldn't order again but I will give this one a second chance next time because the flavor was good. Lastly, the service here needs help but the restaurant already knows this based on their warning signs. Service-wise, there were a few hiccups throughout my meal. First, they forgot to bring me my veggie plate for my pho and I had to ask for it. Second I asked for water and they forgot it. And lastly at the end of my meal, I needed a to go box for my leftovers. So when I saw what looked like one of the kitchen staff delivering cooked pho to the table next to mine, I asked him (in English) for a to go box and he hesitated as if he wasn't sure but then seemed to acknowledge so I thought he got the message. But then the box never came. So I had to flag down a waitress to get the box. Perhaps I should have asked him in Vietnamese or perhaps I shouldn't have made the assumption that a kitchen staff member delivering food to a table would be able to help me with a request that I should have asked a wait staff. But if that's the case I would have wait staff deliver food instead of kitchen staff. Overall I thought the whole experience was better than average. The pho was pretty decent despite the noodles and meat not being cooked properly. But that can be fixed and the flavor is great. The drinks appear to be great so they should really lean on that as their primary marketed products. The side dishes were a miss but those can be improved if the business takes feedback and constructive criticism from reviews seriously. And the service obviously needs improvement but the restaurant knows that and is working on it. The venue is nice and I like the casual vibe. The wait staff are super friendly even if they're not totally efficient yet. I'm hopeful that this restaurant gets better because it's already way better than the previous restaurant that was in this location. I'll come back in a couple months and write an update if it's improved. read more

When your favorite food and drink are all in one spot... A dream come true. This was my first time trying this place, and I'm so glad I did. They initially caught my attention on Yelp. I was planning to work from a nearby café but ended up rerouting here instead. I was a little skeptical at first because it's not every day you see Vietnamese restaurant and cafe drinks under the same roof. The coconut matcha was delicious!! You could actually taste the matcha through the creamy foam on top. I also want to highlight the pho because it is THAT good. After bringing my car to get serviced at a local dealership, I got a call from the restaurant I worked at that we had suddenly closed.
