After a little research on the internet and reading reviews of A/C companies I chose to contact a local company and contacted Abel Mechanical Services to come out and diagnose the problem. I hadn't had a previous issue in years but the symptom was my system was low on Freon. I was planning on just adding Freon and hoping it would last through the summer and then I was going to have my total system replaced once it got a little cooler. Abel and his technician Chris arrived the next day after I contacted his company and starting diagnosing my outside unit. The first thing the gauges told us was I was low on Freon which was no surprise. While Abel and I were discussing the age of my unit and me telling Abel that I was considering just adding Freon and making it last a little longer Chris was checking the condenser coil for leaks and taking some readings on the amperage draw of the compressor and the fan motor. Both the compressor and fan were outside of their normal rated draws. No Freon leaks were found in the outside coils. There was no sales pitch made. They told me they could add Freon but could not tell me how long it would last because there was a leak somewhere and how long the Freon would last was unknown because they had not found the leak yet. I made the decision immediately to lean toward replacing my entire heat and cooling system now rather than "rolling the dice" since both the heating and cooling units were 16 years old and based on the compressor and fan out of tolerance amp readings provided by Abel and Chris. There was no sales pitch to sell me a new system. They said it was totally up to me as to whether to repair or to replace my system based on their findings. My common sense told me to replace due to the measurements and age of the system so I was the one to ask Abel for the cost of a total system change out. We agreed on a price for a new system. I really appreciated the relationship I had with Abel and Chris. They were very open to answer any of my questions. I could tell based on our interactions that I wanted to continue to do business with this company and that they were honorable and trustworthy. A couple of days afterward Abel's installation crew, including Abel and Chris arrived early in the morning and in less that 8 hours my old system was removed and my new heat and air conditioning system was in and working. Everything was done in a orderly and professional manner. All the old parts and trash was removed and my property was left as clean as it was when they arrived. I was recommended Redmon Heating & Air Services by a neighbor of mine who happens to be a general contractor. He told me they were honest and provided high-quality work. The level of communication and the expectation that is set is great. You're kept up to date and if there's any changes or delays with your appointment, you're notified with an updated ETA. I had Randy come out last year to inspect an issue that I had with my AC unit. He inspected it and recommended a repair along with unclogging my primary drain line. What I appreciate about Randy is that if it can be repaired, he will repair it. He will not force you to buy a new unit or system like many other companies. My AC unit and furnace was on the older side, but he repaired it successfully and saved me money when I needed it. Fast-forward to over a year later, my furnace was having issues and not staying lit. I gave Randy a call and he was able to come out the same day to look at it. Randy inspected it, tested it with a new part he brought with him, and it still was not staying lit. He told me it was likely the circuit board that was failing given the age of the furnace and other factors. Factoring in the cost for a new circuit board and the age of my furnace, he told me it would be best to replace it. He was able to give me different options and explained each of them in detail. He answered all of my questions and did not make me feel rushed or pressured into anything. After offering me a deal I couldn't refuse, we finally came to an agreement on replacing the furnace and AC unit together so that it would be matching. Randy went above and beyond and got the units hot shotted over so that it could be replaced the next day as there was cold weather in the forecast and he didn't want me freezing. Fernando, Randy's right-hand man, showed-up right on time with his team and got to work with replacing everything. Fernando, Martin, and the rest of the gentlemen kept me informed with the whole process. They also offered to have me come up in the attic to see the replacements and if they were to my satisfaction. These guys worked hard and were able to get my brand new furnace and AC unit up and running within just a few hours. They provided me with all of my paperwork for the units and answered any questions that I had. Fernando also went above and beyond by going to the hardware store and purchasing a new return air filter grille and new filters for the new system. I didn't even mention this to him but he wanted to surprise us. He told me that he noticed my grille was older and that he could get filters that would fit my air return vent since it's an odd size. It's the small things like this that provide a great experience and set apart the best from the rest. I could tell by talking to Fernando that he takes his work seriously and enjoys what he does. Randy called me when the work was finished to ensure I was satisfied and asked me if I had any questions for him. This was a 5-star experience all around. He said I needed a new capacitor so I told him to go ahead and install. Right after he left, it stopped working and I called him. He came by the next morning and told me my unit was overheating and I needed a new unit. I called my cousin who has a friend in the business and he had his friend come by and take a look at it. He said the capacitor was the wrong size and he changed it. He then checked my air filter which was filthy and told me that was the source of the overheating. He took out the filter and I picked up a new one that evening and everything has been working great since. I have attached the invoice. This is my second request for a refund. I did the first one thru the website and never got a response. I am asking nicely even though I feel I was trying to be taken advantage of. I can not say enough good things about Gerardo and his company! We have had constant issues with…read moreour AC due to the way the original company installed it. They tried to force it to lean so it would drain and even left a pump sticking out of a whole in the ceiling. They actually did that!! The unit itself should never have been installed in the first place as it did not fit in the space but we had no say in that. So Gerardo had a job on his hands and he did an amazing job! He corrected the drain issue left by the original company, removed the ridiculous pump, rerouted the drain the way it should have been in the first place and even put a second drain to be doubly sure. Now we have a drain connected to the sink plumbing, the tub plumbing and the overflow. We hired him again when we broke it during a remodel by running the AC while we were sanding drywall. It had to be removed from the ceiling to clean, which was a massive job. We recently had a third issue which he corrected and wasn't even going to charge me. I paid him anyway because it had nothing to do with the previous work he had done. I will also point out that Gerardo returns my text and calls nights and weekends. Twice he did not charge me for the visit. I think his prices are reasonable but I have not compared them. I will say, this guy works his butt off and he won't quit until it's working properly. He's worth every penny!!
