Last night, our party of four chose a big round table with Lazy Susan, which allowed us to order more than normal, had we been seated at a smaller rectangular table. We ordered salt & pepper rock cod fillet, Beef Stew clay pot, Chinese broccoli in white wine sauce, and steamed chicken with ginger/onion, and a small bowl of rice. One of the places that opens early and serves traditional Chinese dishes. They gave us hot tea to start with and we also ordered the coffee milk iced drink which was strong and very good! We got the chicken eggrolls to share and they were very crispy and good as well! I love noodle soup so we got the wonton combination and the shrimp dumpling combination and both were very good! There have been some serious changes to New Sam Kee Restaurant, and I ain't mad!! The last time I actually came here to dine @ New Sam Kee Restaurant was YEARS ago, prior to the pandemic. My guy's family has deep ties/memories to this particular restaurant so when we were announcing our baby news to his side, we couldn't think of a better place to do so. The make this short, the entire dinner was a disaster- staff was rude, our cake that we purchased for the dinner was never brought out, and when we went to make payment and request for our cake (that never came out) they literally gave me someone else's cake!!! very unorganized to say the least. I was certain in writing off this restaurant for good until my nephew made the request to come here... many many years later. Dinner on a Saturday was poppin'. Excessively loud if you ask me, but definitely poppin'. There was a smaller scaled party off to our left and other larger event located on the far far right of the restaurant. Luckily for us, our party of 5 didn't have to wait too long for seating. Our family meal consented of: Seafood chow fun, clams in basil sauce, walnut shrimp, fried rice, & salt n pepper pork, salt n pepper calamari. Food was really good. No substantial complaint that made the visit or meal unpleasant. The long hiatus did both myself and the restaurant some good. The entire family left happy and full. 4 stars. I decided to get this menu item - 6. Japanese Surf Clams with Garlic. I have no idea how much the dish was since I didn't pay, but their online ordering system lists it as $17.99. You get both halves of the surf clam. (I know some places only serve one of the shells, but for this price, it should be two.) The clam was nice and chewy as were the noodles. Lots of garlicky flavor too. I did wish this came with a soy jalapeño sauce of sorts, but I had hot chili oil at home, so that added the needed kick. I believe the bro in law got 94. Suon Rang Muoi - Salt & Pepper Ribs ($14.99) and 102. Bo Mong Co - Mongolian Beef, Hot ($14.99). Not sure if he got a combo since they were both in the same box, but I started dinner later than him, so he could have combined them into one box after he finished eating. I did try a piece of the pork and it was nicely fried. A tad dry and underseasoned for me, but still pretty good. (I like lots of jalapeños.) I've always wanted to try their Caviar King Crab, Lobster Garlic Noodles, and Kingdom Seafood Fried Rice. Maybe one day when I have a larger group, I'll come back and try all three! read more

We have been coming here for more than twenty years and remain satisfied with the taste and quality of the food. It's not a fancy place, but the service is very good. The servers and owners are very friendly and accommodating. Their beef chow fun and combination lo mein are favorites of my husband. One of my family member's favorite places to eat. It's a great family-style restaurant. I'm not the biggest fan of their service but the restaurant has amazing food and it's pretty cheap so you should try it if you want authentic Chinese food. The atmosphere and vibe just weren't it for me. Service was what you expected at a Chinese restaurant but this was a bit more awkward. They didn't talk the whole time even when they came to take our order and just let my dad talk. It's not a big deal for my parents and the food was delicious and filling so I gave them 4 stars. I just wouldn't come here alone haha! We got kidney soup, Basil clams, and imperial fried rice (the English names kill me haha!!!). All of the dishes were so flavorful and delicious and super filling. The kidney soup sounds weird but it's so good and the soup is so flavorful, it has a similar taste to duck soup. The basil clams are so soft and the noodles are bouncy. They have a soy sauce flavor so they go good with the tea. Came here to celebrate grandma's birthday! Kinda felt like a wedding with all the food we ordered. I've only come here for the lobster noodles in the past, and was excited to try a variety of dishes this time. It was mostly empty on a Sunday evening. There was another big party, but I mostly saw takeout orders. The service was attentive. Here's what we got: -peking duck buns: The skin was super crispy and some meat parts were dry. Loved the fluffiness of the buns, no sogginess here. I'd recommend asking for more buns, green onions, and possibly more sauce because there's a lot of meat. -fried rice with fish roe: This came with shrimp (and possibly scallop?). It was mild enough to accompany the flavorful proteins on our table, although you can eat it alone too. My grandma was a fan! -honey walnut shrimp: Battered and thinly-coated shrimp tossed in a mayo sauce that wasn't too thick although every part of the shrimps were coated. The shrimp meat was soft and chewy. -lobster garlic noodles: A classic lobster dish that had flavorful garlicky egg noodles tossed with garlicky-seasoned lobster. Had to use a fork to pull out the lobster meat. -ginger lobster: Tasty sauce with ginger and spiced coating the lobster meat. Really enjoyed this one! -fried lobster: Always love this dish; it's better to pull the meat out and then taste some of the breading outside of the lobster shell. -sweet and sour fried pork: Good balance of sweet and tartness coating the breaded pork. The thinness of the pork worked well, and we ate it with fried rice. -crispy fried pork: Tasted garlicky and I liked the jalapeños that came with it. Too salty to eat on its own so we ate this with fried rice too. Same thinness as the sweet and sour pork. -stir fried greens and shiitake mushrooms: This was the last thing I ate because I needed vegetables in me. I love bitter mustard greens. The mushrooms, however, packed such a flavorful punch that it stayed in my mouth, even after dessert. Just be aware of the strong mushroom flavor if you eat this! The meal ended with slices of oranges on ice! The oranges were quite sour but it's a decent palate cleanser. They also gave us plates and utensils for a cake we brought in. Great place for a small or large party. We were there on Thanksgiving with a party of 15. The only bad thing is they didn't have our reservations. But the table was available in the corner and we had to split in 2. The food is very fresh and tasty here. My favorite is the steam sea bass fish. It is sooo good. The rest is just as tasty. I came here with a friend on a Friday morning for some classic chinese porridge with black egg and chinese donut. The restaurant looks like your typical chinese restaurant, nothing too special and the service was quick. The porridge came out in a huge bowl, I wasn't able to finish the entire thing. The taste was good and what I was expecting. The chinese donut paired with the porridge was great, I really liked it! The donut was very crispy and chewy. Had a last-minute family event and needed to come up with some interesting party trays past. I often order from New Sam Kee for party trays for work. But today, I wanted to get their popular items that isnt exactly on their Party Tray menu. I ordered from the Clover App for pick up. The order was ready on time. I got 3 orders of the lobster garlic noodles and seafood kingdom fried rice, then consolidated into a medium party tray for display. For your typical Chinese food, the lobster noodle is pretty good here. Nice and garlicky with a little heat from the jalapeños. The only minus is that it is pretty oily. The fried rice was new to my family; they've never seen such a simple, looking fried rice. Although simple, the mix of roe makes this more flavor than your typical fried rice. Instead of a few large pieces of scallop, I wished there would be small scallops in a bigger quantity so that more people can enjoy a little bit of it. This place reminds me of a lot childhood places I've been too. The food is alright and the service was quite good when we went. The Chow Fun okay. My friend's order was quite salty and an tasted mainly like bell pepper. The dry one was alright and the one I order with curry was also okay. The fried rice was also rather salty. The seafood noodles were good. The fried tofu we also order had pretty good texture to it, crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. Then again it was rather salty. ZERO STARS if I could! I honestly don't even know where to begin. I've been coming to this location since I was a kid, so I've always trusted their food and service -- but after what happened recently, I'll never set foot here again. I ordered the lobster noodles, something I've enjoyed countless times before. Halfway through, I noticed something that made my stomach turn -- a strand of hair tangled in the noodles. Completely disgusting. I tried to be understanding and calm about it, figuring mistakes happen. I didn't even demand a refund -- I simply asked them to remake the dish. But when I went back to pick up the replacement (and yes, I returned the box with the hair in it), the worker had the audacity to tell me that "the lobster must have eaten hair," and that's why it was in the food. Excuse me??? What kind of explanation is that? It's beyond ridiculous and insulting to my intelligence. Still, I stayed polite and took the replacement meal. But when I got to my car and opened the second box -- you guessed it -- another hair. At that point, I was completely disgusted and furious. Not only did they serve me contaminated food twice, but the staff was also rude and dismissive about it. This is absolutely unacceptable. Hygiene clearly isn't a priority here, and neither is basic respect for loyal customers. I used to recommend this place to friends and family, but now I'll be warning everyone to stay far away. If you care about cleanliness, professionalism, or just not finding hair in your food, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

Came here for dinner and the place has pretty good amount of seating. The service was good. The food was plenty and delicious. We tried the shark fin soup, Peking spare ribs, salt & pepper spare ribs, honey walnut prawns, kingdom seafood fried rice, veggies with black mushrooms, roasted chicken, a fish dish, and some lobster dish. Pretty good portions. Tasty and fulfilling. My only thing is that a couple of the womens restroom stalls were out of toiletries. And the one that had any had less than half a roll left. My parents LOVE this place but I don't haha. I will admit the food is good and cheap - so definitely worth a try! 2.5 stars for me. The place isn't very clean - tables, bowls, utensils, plates, can be quite sticky. We asked for extra bowls and the bus boy ended up getting it and his hands were quite dirty...I could see an abundance of dirt under his nails. My parents are just used to cleaning stuff by rinsing stuff with hot tea! I love 意麵 or E-Fu or Yi Mian noodles. It's not on the menu but you can ask for it with your lobster noodles instead of getting the thin noodles they usually come with. It's chewy and bouncier than the regular noodles they serve it with. My parents also got a seafood noodle dish, salted egg fried rice, and garlic pea shoots. All delicious and cheap. Definitely recommend if you don't mind some sanitary issues lol read more

Got food from here twice within a week recently. Our takeout order: shrimp fried rice, seafood chow fun w/ gravy, and veg & shrimp chow mein. * The chow mein was pretty basic. It had that yummy aromatic char flavor that it should have from a well used/seasoned wok. * The shrimp fried rice was a huge no. They used those super cheap tiny minuscule shrimps for this and they were dyed a pinkish fuschia color and the bbq was pork bits were dry. There was no char flavor. It was so bad. We came back to dine in and ordered: crispy tofu, garlic stir fried pea tips, shrimp chow fun w/ gravy. * The garlic pea tips were good. Nothing great or bad to say about it. * The shrimp chow fun was alright. Not as good char aroma/flavor as the previous seafood one we had a few days earlier. They brought it to the table with only veggies and we mentioned that we ordered shrimp chow fun. We were told that they must have forgotten and he came back promptly with our dish and they put a few pieces of shrimp on it. The overall portion size seemed smaller than when we got takeout. * The crispy tofu had a very strange chlorine taste and not enough seasoning. I don't know maybe they transfer the tofu from packaging to a tub of tap water and maybe the tofu just soaks up all the chlorine from the tap water? I have no idea but they didn't taste right at all. If we were stuck in the area and wanted something close by - yeah possibly we'd come back if we were really craving Chinese food. If we had time though, I'd likely go to milpitas instead. read more

Had a family style family dinner last night with my parents, cousin, and my cousin's kids. We were immediately seated on a Saturday night, which was nice! Guess COVID is still taking a toll on service for restaurants, but hopefully conditions will improve more for restaurants to not suffer so much. We decided to ordered a large selection of seafood dishes (lol, refer to the pictures). While the food came out really quick, our order of iced water never came... haha.. We literally waited for them to bring us water, only for my dad to flag down the waiter and inform him we still had not received any water and our dinner was coming to an end. My parents have been more conscientious about their seasoning preferences and I really appreciated the staff's willingness to adjust their level of sodium to each dish. I never thought that a Chinese restaurant would be accommodating to my parents request, but wow! Appreciate the staff's willingness to do so! Overall, the food was okay in taste. Some dishes needed more sauce (i.e the mushrooms with Chinese leafy greens and steamed fish with celery). The lobster dishes also were really oily too (lol), but it's expected since one dish was fried noodles and the other one was cooked in a thick starchy sauce. We recently door dashed from this place. I LOVED their Yang Chow fried rice!!! They use bay shrimp which I LOVE and I am always looking for that option on menus. Its a little less of a shrimp commitment I am already craving it again. We also got Won Ton Soup, Veggie Egg Drop Soup, Mongolian Beef & Kung Pao Shrimp. Yum! Sadly, their veggie egg drop soup had no flavor and was just bland. I am a huge egg drop soup fan and always order that from Chinese restaurants. I was pretty bummed about that but I loved the veggies in it. They also package their to-go items very nicely and that's always a huge plus!
