I have been going to Apex Auto Service since their previous location and been going there for almost 2 years and let me tell you, it is truly and sincerely a relief to find an honest mechanic who will not push you to get any work done on your car. My current car is a very high milage car, and Ezio treats it right and gives detailed advice on what I should do and not do and not once has he ever pushed me to replace any parts that weren't needed to be changed immediately. In fact, there are times where I ask if I should change certain cosmetic things and he gives me his honest opinion to these matters: leaving me alot less to worry about as I am not a car expert. His prices are reasonable, he takes care of your car well, does the jobs in a timely manner, he's always polite and courteous, his availability isn't so bad so you won't have any long wait time for your appointments. Originally I went in for an oil change, and I googled the service code that had came on in my car(cause I'm cheap & didn't know what to do) they explained to me what that service code was about, and laid out all my options for me, and what they thought was best for me & my car. We agreed on the services that needed to be done and They were not trying to get me for my money, at all. Came back to pick my car up a few hours later and he took pictures of everything that he did, what he inspected, and told me what signs to look for reason to come back. I wasn't expecting to get my truck back so fast!! He charged me WAY less than most other shops would have for the same work. He updated me every day on the progress he was making. He wasn't able to fix everything, but that wasn't his fault ( My truck is 31 years old. Some parts can't be found after market.) He noticed that a tie rod was dangerously worn out and fixed it. He also took notice of my master cylinder needing work, thank GOD that he noticed that!! He will not resort to using used parts that aren't trustworthy if he doesn't have to. That's good!! I can't say enough about what an amazing job Eizo did. My VW Tiguan started shimmying really bad and I couldn't accelerate - scary. I was afraid to drive the 10 miles to my regular shop and wanted something close. Ultimately I chose him because of his reviews on Yelp plus proximity, and he is open on Saturday which seems rare for independent shops. He was able to fit me in for a diagnostic same day. As soon as I got there, he was on it - no waiting. I didn't anticipate staying for it but he was super quick. I got a great vibe from him and trusted him right away. And he wouldn't have charged me for the tests if I didn't choose to get it fixed there. But I did, and my car was ready Monday and works like a dream. He also didn't charge me for some labor ($139) related to additional tests and paid half of a part because it wasn't part of the initial quote. Um, what?? So what would have cost $1300 at dealership was $660. While I hope I don't have to go back anytime soon, I will be back! He's got himself a return customer. read more

I have been taking my car to Apex auto since it was in Georgetown and they always give me a better price than my other mechanic in Redmond who specializes in European cars. He mostly works on Toyota/Honda/Mazda but knows pretty much all of the other makes. My emergency brake light kept coming off and on so I thought it might be a small problem, but when he put it on the lift, I can see my rear brake caliper was all rusted/old and smells bad. Got it fixed in a few hours cause he had to order the parts, looks good and brakes a lot better. He also documents all the photos so you can see the before and after, a lot of mechanics will just work on it and tell you that something is wrong without showing you or explaining it. At anyrate, the emergency brakes feel a lot tighter/stronger when I pull the handle. Thanks Eizo! read more

I drive an older, high mileage car and whenever I move I always struggle to find trustworthy, experienced, knowledgeable, thorough, troubleshooting specialists type of mechanics. Maybe it's because I'm an engineer, but I'm generally dissatisfied by mechanics that just stick to mileage based recommendations or online standard diagnosis guides. Eizo was the hands on, critical thinking, "let's use this measurement tool to learn more about X noise" type of mechanic that I haven't been able to find in several years in the area. I won't go anywhere else! When I arrived, he wasted no time taking my car on a quick test drive to understand a very specific new sound coming from the engine compartment that other mechanics over last 2 years either didn't hear (couldn't pick out what I was describing) or couldn't find a source but guessed it wasn't a problem (not a satisfactory answer to an owner that's trying to keep a car alive and well!). Within ten minutes of walking into Eizo's shop, the car had been test-driven, was lifted, and he was showing me in person exactly where the problem was among other things that he saw just within minutes of listening to and inspecting the undercarriage. He provided me an old school printout of inspection photos with handwritten notes of findings and a prioritized list of recommended repairs, noting safety critical ones highest, and got to a justified explanation for yet another problem the car has had for at least four years that other mechanics could not draw conclusions on, and only gave the list of possible culprits and "let's just start replacing things until it goes away." I was thrilled; my search for a great auto repair go-to in the Seattle area has ended :) My only hesitation in writing the review is selfishly not wanting his shop to get any busier and harder to schedule service. This is far and away the BEST mechanic in Seattle. I have been with this shop for almost 17 years and have nothing but good things to say. Two days after Christmas my Subaru wouldn't start, I called AAA, turns out it was a bad battery and an old starter. They towed my car in, and I could see that Eizo had a zillion cars lined up to work on, but thankfully he took my car because it was an emergency. I picked it up last night at 11:00 p.m.!! He was still there working, trying to help out all the customers who were counting on him to get the work done. Best Mechanic I've ever encountered! You know how people say, " I've got a guy" , well Itzo is the guy. He is the guru / sensei/ Yoda mechanic of Japanese cars. He is the most honest man in the auto repair business I've encountered He only recommends what needs to be done, and has never tried to upsell me on any services. He only does the work you have discussed, and if an issue comes up theshop will call. I've gotten advice about things to be done in the future that tracks with my own knowledge and research. You will read this in other reviews too, that if you have some bigger job done like I did with a timing belt replacement he will document the work with digital photos to show you what happened step by step. He is really busy so you do have to be personally disciplined about making an appointment. He has a small 3 bay shop in an industrial area. Its not flashy and has no waiting room other than a couple of chairs. This is reflected in the shop rate though. You are getting a first class mechanic without paying for a fancy waiting room. You would do best to drop the car off and catch a ride with a friend. (There is a bus stop right in front too.) There is a teryaki joint next door if you want to eat and wait. Being a guy who can do my own tune-ups I'm happy to turn over any job to Apex if the weather is bad or it is beyound my skill. He has done work for serveral hundred dollars less than I was quoted by a dealer and another shop. Plus I've gotten digital documentation. Found my forever mechanic! What a great guy! I called him after leaving the Honda service center with over $1000 of work they said needed to be done to my CRV. Eizo asked a few questions and told me to bring it in for a look. Brought it in the next day and after a few minutes he gave me 3 options with approximate costs to get the work done. The option I chose ended up being a lot more labor intensive than expected, but Eizo charged me what he originally said which was a fraction of what I Honda quoted. With 150k miles on my car I thought I'd need to be looking for a replacement soon, but now I feel confident I can keep this one running with such a great mechanic to take care of it. This is such a great shop! The mechanic had replaced a drive belt for me for about $94 while another shop had quoted me $150 PLUS about $400 worth of other repairs. He took pictues of the underside of my car to show me what was going on and gave me OPTIONS. Car repairs make me feel so stressed because I don't have any expertise and can't tell when I'm being scammed or not. The second time I came to the shop was because my car is making a loud noise. The Toyota dealership downtown quoted me $111 just to diagnose my car. The mechanic at Apex had me drop by and drove it around the block for no charge. He told me where the problem area (real drive train, the bearings or differential but a two person job to diagnose and fix on my all wheel drive) and that I needed to get it into a shop right away. Ok, it IS a total bummer that he was completely booked for the entire month but the man is HONEST with you. That alone makes it a great shop. I just wish it was bigger I could have gone there to do the repairs. But my peace of mind with worth 5 stars, no doubt! read more

According to my husband who took in my SUV for an oil change. He said the place opens at 8am, and saw two men working on another car. We have an appt for 9am and he said it was already after 9am, so he told one of the men that he has an appt. They then asked for the key and started to work on the car. In the meantime I had been calling, because my husband wasn't answering his phone. I just wanted to asked them how much more to fix one of the little yellow lightbulb in the front. They never answered the phone. When my husband finally got done and left he said you have been calling them? I asked how did he know? He said well one of the guy said; "saying my name it's her again... calling" (they have a caller ID). That's why he called me when he was there. So I guess make sure to let them know everything that you need done, when you make the appt., because if you need other things done and someone else takes your car in for you...good luck! I'm 60 and this is the absolute best auto mechanic I have ever had. Eizo is gifted very knowledgeable. He does the necessary work to keep you on the road for years. I've taken my 1990 Toyota Wagon there and he has kept it in top shape. He is skilled, honest, very nice and his staff is excellent. We moved to New Mexico 5 years ago but I have driven back to Seattle to have the car serviced while visiting family. I never rush him because I know he takes his time to do the repair correctly. As honest as they come. I brought in my '88 Civic Hatchback which was making knocking noises over bumps. He looked at it and determined that the main culprit was the rack and pinion, but other front suspension parts were going as well. He suggested that I sell it rather than put in the money to fix the rack and pinion, since there would likely be many repairs down the line. I was worried about showing up at a place I knew nothing about but I received honest, efficient, respectful service with a full explanation of what was going wrong with my car and was encouraged to verify the diagnosis with my own research. The mechanic not only encouraged me to look up and verify what he told me, he printed out some information I could use to read further about my engine. He stayed open late so I could come pick up my car the next day and had taken photos of each step of the repair he did on my engine so he could go over it with me.
