Great quality service on a Cadillac CT6 125,000 mile service. We received better service than we've had at the Dealership, which by the way, we've decided to no longer use. Apex (Formerly Famous Auto) gave us very a detailed description with photos of everything required that they worked on, so that even I could understand it. "Famous Automotive & Tire Center" and "Mavis Tires & Brakes" Done Me A Wrong Background: Famous has a reputation for plugging nail holes in tires, for free. Each plug costs a few dollars, and they get it done in 5-10 minutes. You just pull your car up to a bay, and they perform the repair on the spot. I'm sure that they do it as good will to potential customers. It's best to plug and patch (from the inside) nail holes, but Famous just does the quick and dirty method of an external plug. A few months ago, I brought our two cars there for one nail each. The weekday manager was a bit rude, and said he was too busy. So, I came back that Saturday and the weekend manager was extremely gracious. I offered to pay, and he refused. Yesterday (Friday around 1pm), I brought my car there, walked past a car currently receiving a plug as I entered. The weekday manager was a bit irritable and said that he was too swamped. He recommended to bring my car back early the next day. There was one car in each of the two bays, and one more car in the parking lot. Two customers were in the waiting room. I've seen their front lot packed with cars before. It looked like they weren't actually swamped. Today (Saturday), I woke up a couple hours earlier than usual for a Saturday, and rushed to Famous. Both the weekday and weekend managers were standing behind the counter talking. There was only one car in the bays and no cars in the front parking lot. I said that I have a slow tire leak. They jumped right in to looking up prices on new tires for me. I said, no I want a plug. The weekday manager said that they don't do that and that it is against Florida law. He also said that he didn't know why they (meaning someone else) had plugged it for me previously. The weekend manager (standing next to him) was the one that handled it in the past. As I started to turn to leave, I said (in a normal indifferent voice) "I wish you had told me that yesterday". I walked across the parking lot to Mavis, next door. They agreed to plug my tire for $26. As I proceeded back to my car, to move it next door, the Famous people called the Mavis people. I drove my car over. As I got out, the guy from behind the counter (who promised to plug my tire) walked up and said that he isn't allowed to plug tires on my type of car. I looked at him with surprise, and he continued to talk, to fill the silence. He said that he didn't know why, but it must be due to my car body being fiberglass. I wasn't asking him to plug the body. What does the car body have to do with my tire? Clearly both excuses are lies. I was kind to both businesses. It's not like I was a nasty person, or doing something to take advantage of anyone. Both of these businesses are dishonest, vindictive and care more about making a profit, and their relations with their neighboring business, than their customers' safety. Driving on a tire with a nail is known to be dangerous. It could cause a blowout on the highway. I am leaving on a 3 hour driving trip Monday, and needed to fix my tire. This is their second location and apparently they just opened a third one much closer to my house. Nevertheless great service and value. Locally owned and operated I followed the co-owner who had created such a huge following at a different repair shop. That shop was bought out by a big corporation and the manager ended up leaving as he was no longer empowered to treat customers the way they had grown accustomed to. It was that honest and friendly service which made that business prosper but once that "changed," the news in our community quickly spread. Extremely happy with the service and pricing at this shop compared to the chains. I even heard one exchange at the counter where the customer wasn't charged because of some opportunities that could be done on a recall at dealer. What auto repair shop does that? If I could put negative stars I would. My friend went there for service and to have a battery put in, they said she needed a serpentine belt and tires. She said wait on the tires and do the belt. She called me saying she was hearing a ticking sound, so I came over popped the hood and I see the belt broke. Guy tried to tell my husband it was overflowing with oil so therefore it needed an new engine for $4000. Guy continues to say oh yeah we've got three cars already in here we can just add yours in the next bay. My husband cracked up laughing and said yeah I don't think so. Next morning AAA picked up our car and took it to Nissan at the avenues. Turns out it's a simple AC compressor and a belt. No oil issue whatsoever!! I have used them several times for small things. tire repair and a full set of new tires. They have always been kind, reasonably priced and got the work done quickly. Unfortunately, my visit this morning was not as positive. I went in for an oil change. They asked if I wanted full synthetic. I said yes. I had no idea a full synthetic was ridiculous expensive. I have never paid more than $30 for an oil change. There was no reason for me to think this would be any different. I should have asked, that's my fault. Jacksonville FL: Took my volvo in for an oil change. It took 2 1/2 hours... The mechanic stripped the head of the oil drain bolt and then tried to tell me that in warm weather the aluminum bolt gets soft and it wasn't their fault. They ordered a replacement bolt and said I didn't have to pay the $1.58 for it but charged full boat for the service. I suggested I already paid for it with my time which I can't get back. He countered saying this would have happened anywhere anyway. Famous did my last oil change and likely over torqued the bolt to begin with. Also I noticed the oil change sticker said 78,000 miles to next oil change. I took the car back again to get a proper sticker. This experience was the worst service in all my years. read more

I was recommended to this shop by a family friend. As a disabled mom, I tend to be leery of going to any repair shop as I feel though I will automatically be taken advantage of. Sonny disproved that feeling immediately. I explained the ongoing hard start issue I have with my 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. He knew exactly the problem I was having. I left my van to be checked out, even though I have had the same issue addressed elsewhere several times. Long story short, Sonny diagnosed my issue and gave me options to consider. When I decided not to proceed with the repair with his shop because I was already 3 starters in with my own mechanic, he offered to speak with my mechanic and direct him how to proceed, even to the point of offering to help my regular mechanic get the necessary part from a dealership. On top of that, he didn't even charge me a diagnostic fee, which put a lump in my throat and brought tears to my eyes, literally. The quality of his care and concern will definitely bring me back.
