This is the first time that I've eaten @ this location. When we first walked in we were immediately greeted, as I looked around everything seemed neat, clean & inviting. Upon seating we were handed Menus, and asked what our beverage order was. Menu exactly as other location in Pinecrest, which is a good thing, since I almost know it by heart lol. Hubby & I shared a Mediterranean Salad & a Margherita Neapolitan Pizza. I was hungry so I was so glad that salad didn't take forever to arrive @ our table & NOT only that! But it looked "Beautifully delicious"! Portion is big so hubby & I had no tug of war over sharing . (May I add that their Homemade Salad Dressing is delish! Simple, tasty & well... beautiful color...I know it's dressing but come on !!! who wants ugly, unappealing salad dressing, right????). Needless to say finished that & a few minutes later the Neapolitan Pizza arrived. It was " Exactly what I was hoping it would be"!!!. Thin, cheesy, "PERFECT" sauce!!! Oh... & we asked for Jalapeños on top so... FIRE!!!!! Oh my... so goooood, with every bite I could just taste all the perfect blends of sauce, cheese, jalapeños, basil, OLIVE OIL!!!!. Overall experience was very nice, waiter was nice but lacked friendliness, did not order dessert nor coffee since we were stuffed. Looking forward to returning... very sooooon. It had been a while since going to this once fantastic restaurant, and I entered with a smile on my face in anticipation of another great experience. Everything started out well, from the attentive hostess to the excellent waitress. The problem was the kitchen. Two entrees came out 15+ minutes after the others. When they finally arrived, the usually wonderful fig pizza was ridiculously under cooked; like eating raw dough. How lazy must you be to undercook a Neapolitan pizza? We've always gone to the other Apizza location on US1, but today we needed to have lunch and we were close to this location on Bird. The food and service were amazing just like at the other location. I would say I actually like this location better because it's larger and doesn't feel as cramped as the one on US1. The pizzas were fantastic and the lentil soup was delicious. We've been eating at both locations and the quality of the Pizza and the service dropped dramatically. They used to have the best Pizza in Miami, in my opinion, but unfortunately no longer the case! As someone that works for restaurant , staff should not take advantage of the employees as so and this wasn't the first time i've observed this . First of all, the ambiance of this place is amazing. The decoration is to live for, everything is always clean! And service always on point. Managers and owner always come to my table every time i visit and ask how the service is! The food is to die for! There are specials every day apart from their magnificent menu. Now with the pasta Tuesday and the wine Wednesday specials I will be sure to be going even more often. Everyone that goes here knows each other and you are always greeted with a smile. They took 2 hour to serve us bread and then said it was our fault because it took us 30 minutes to sit down. My question was and what happened to the other hour and a half. These guys had plenty of staff so no excuse. I will never go back there. You only get 1 chance to ruin someone's event. Got the margherita pizza delivered. Wafer thin soggy crust, scant ingredients and to "top" it all off it was cold.

The service was not the best. I ordered the pan seared special. The fish was strangely watery and at the same time dry. The spinach underneath was way too salty and inedible. I sent it back and the manager came and told me 'hog snapper is like that'. I am from Florida and have eaten hog snapper many many times. It was overcooked and because of the sauce they poured over it, both too wet and too dry. The pumadoro pasta was made with angel hair pasta which made it one large blob. Lastly, they forgot my lentil soup. I used to go to the Pinecrest location all the time. It was great. Both times at this location sucks. It's giving the other one a bad name. Delicious as always. I'm not a fan of pizza crust, but this crust is always GOOD! Their simple Caesar salad is elevated to one of the best (on my book) by the original Caesar Dressing they use (seems and taste homemade, I may be wrong) we can taste the anchovies in it, so delicious. This restaurant has the potential to be great however it lacks in customer service and details. We have eaten here several times and we have ordered take out. The pizza is amazing, just like New York. The wine selection is good and during the week there is normally no wait for a table. During the weekends, we highly recommend getting to the restaurant early as there is a short wait for a table if the party is over 6 people. As far as the customer service, the service is rather slow if you decide to sit in the restaurant. If you decide to do take out, I HIGHLY recommend checking your order before you leave the restaurant. They have gotten our order wrong on two separate occasions. We were there tonight and we had to return because our order was incorrect. The dinner plates normally come with two garlic rolls. We ordered 4 dinners and an additional 6 rolls, we should have received 14 rolls however we were only given the 6 that we paid for. We had to return to the restaurant and have a discussion in order to receive our other rolls. The restaurant took care of us but it delayed our take out dinner 45 extra minutes between the back and forth with the rolls. I'm a huge fan of their Pinecrest location so when I heard they opened up here in the gables, I knew I had to try. Some key characteristics remained the same from their flagship location while others were modified to fit the new locations appeal. The pizza is always deliciously crispy and fresh which is a dire necessity. The pasta dishes are hearty and served in heaping large portions to satisfy your carb cravings. It's great for a date night or a family dinner. They are quite popular so arriving during peak hours might require a wait but I can assure you it's worth it. The eggplant appetizer alone is the perfect amount for an entree or a shareable plate. It's not the cheapest Italian restaurant but it's definitely delicious in every way so it's worth the occasional splurge. The wine is abundant here and their selection is pretty great. read more

Calzone returned twice because of cold cold ricotta in center. My linguine carbonara had bacon over overload and a bit too much pepper. Waitress didn't refill waters and should have checked on us a little more often. To their defense they did Comp our entrees which is good business, right thing to do. Lasagna that was tiny , had maybe 2 tablespoons of meat in it and did not taste good either...
