Some of the best Indian food I've ever had. The goat biryani is choice and would highly recommend it.

This place is serving food with extremely high spice level. I have never had so much spicy food in my entire life. Ordered biryani, samosa chat, vegetable patty and thali... no good and full of chilli. Also,the lady on the till for the cash and carry is extremely rude and weird. I still don't understand her awkward behavior that she showed when serving me on the till..Pathetic experience with food and customer service .. never going again and I do not recommend this place unless ur fan of the spice ! read more

If you want to go out for a snack, casually, then this is the place. If you are going out for the evening for a proper dinner, choose another place. This ambience is very casual--BUT the food is good. We ordered mirchi bajji and mysore bonda. Mysore bonda is good too. but they were served cold. It is a self-service restaurant. You get a lot in one order of veg biryani. Tip- Mirchi bajji is a little spicy (for people who can tolerate spice) They serve veg biryani (more like pulav on weekdays) and Veg DUM biryani on Weekends. read more

Good food !! I do eat here most of the time and I feel this food as the best south indian food in portland.

The service is horrible especially during Covid. People don't maintain 6 ft distance. They have open seating inside and plus people are coming ordering their food and also waiting inside. I felt really uncomfortable. Even they don't tell you the correct time for good to get ready. I really had a bad experience today. They should have a separate area for ordering food and pickup especially during Covid time. read more

Until this place was started there was not a proper biriyani point in town! Still has the best biriyani. Consistent taste and serving size.

I went there with my family for a meal today. Ordered chicken 65, mild, packed whatever my kids could not eat. While eating I ended up chewing 2 inch long plastic piece inside the chicken. Thank goodness my kids did not eat it. This is outright disgusting and not right. It goes to show what precautions are taken to prepare the food in a hygienic and safe manner. Truly dissapointing. Also ordered their chicken dum biryani, there was a mountain of rice and one medium piece of chicken in the entire dish. Biryani means there is typically a fair amount of chicken. When I asked about this they proudly said a half biryani has one piece of chicken. The way it was presented , one would never guess there is one piece of chicken inside it all. The chole nature ordered took the longest to be done and they passed on an earlier order number's non picked up food to us which was sitting on their counter for atleast five minutes. Customer service is bad. This is the second time they messed up with my order. First time ordered full plate chicken biryani. They gave me half plate & chicken was burnt. Today ordered hyderabadi chicken dum biryani.When we sat down for dinner found it was vegetable biryani with eggs in it.How strange for vegetarians !! They ordered me to come back and pick up the right order. plus they wanted me to understand that they have new staff. My suggestion would be that for good customer service they deliver the right order by uber eats or whichever delivery they are linked to. read more

I have tried their vegetarian thali, it is a must try. But, rest of the dishes like chaat, biryani, and all the sabjis are A-ok, the staff seemed rude. I have 6 years experience in India, but still can't eat super hot food, and a lot of the food here is too hot for me. Nor can you order your own level of heat. That said, my favorite dish here is puri bhaji. The bhaji is excellent, and for some reason is not that hot. The idlis are not hot either, but the biryani, which seems to be their most popular dish, looks delicious, but is also too hot. We were there yesterday, and the Asian lady next to us said her goat biryani was too hot for her. And for some reason, even though we were there at 2:30, they were out of puris! Don't know why, unless they have to let the dough rest overnight; they're attached to a grocery store, so no lack of ingredients. And the chai here is excellent. Pump your own, and its very hot, and you add your own sugar, which I like. read more

Food gets 3 stars. Cleanliness gets 1 star. Not sure how these guys manage to pass the state guidelines on hygiene. One has to clean/ mop the dirty tables from previous occupants themselves to be able to sit and eat. Floor is as slippery as Eel due to lack of sufficient/ consistent cleaning. We stopped by at this place on a Fri evening for a meal. Food was pretty bad, refried, super oily and overcooked. Paneer Tikka we ordered had almost charred pieces of Paneer. We have had much better Indian food in and around Portland. read more

I just tried few items after being excited abt eating Indian food. We have ordered 2 egg puffs, punugulu, chilli chicken, mutton curry, chapathi & Chicken Biryani. Except for Egg Puffs I was disappointed in rest of everything which was very surprising for me since almost everything was below Average ( real bad). I like the food here but recently had a very bad experience while trying to get food to go from here. Basically I had brought plastic boxes from home to get food from this place in order to save on plastic waste but the guy at the cashiers place just refused to use the boxes and said we will only use our own plastic boxes. I regularly get biryani (chicken, veg, goat) from apna chat bhavan, Malai kofta is my fav from this place. The chat items and indo-chinese are good too. I have never been disappointed with this place. Probably the most authentic indian food in portland. read more

The food can be quite good, but I'm not happy with their spice levels. If you cannot handle spicy food then stay away from this place. I feel every restaurant should have at least some item on their menu that is mild. When I asked them they said medium spicy is the lowest they go. And medium for them is already too hot for most people not from that region. A real pity as some of their dishes would taste great with fewer spices! read more

First time tried this place, non-veggie thali, including awesome chicken and lamb. Very delicious. Will try again.

Apna Chat Bhavan was a nice find; it can be a bit hard to notice at first but I think that was also just my GPS getting me lost (stupid technology). I have yet to visit the market, but the food at the takeaway counter was really wonderful. The dishes have more spice than your average buffet table might have, so be prepared with a nice lassi to help you digest after. There is a nice selection of small things such as samosas, veggie and paneer puffs (they were out of paneer puffs when we were there so I will return for that), pakora, etc. as well as a large menu of curries, dosas, biryani, and other meat and vegetarian dishes. All together we sampled veggie samosas and puffs (both good), chicken biryani, chana masala, and chicken tikka masala. Everything had wonderful flavor and the meat was very tender and well-cooked in both dishes. The dishes come with a choice of rice or chapati and the bread is also quite nice. I would love to try some dosas in the future. The dessert pastry selection is large as well, although we only tried one item which was a pistachio cake. That was the only thing that I would not recommend as it was not very flavorful and tasted basically just like white cake. There are some traditional Indian pastries there that I will go for next time. read more

chicken 65 dosa, lamb saag, masala dosa, idli sambar, bhel puri, dahi papdi chaat, samosa, veg puff, chana bhatura, pani puri. just a small list of all the things ive eaten here over the half dozen times ive made the 15 mile trek from tigard to eat here. their grocery section keeps me well stocked at home in between visits. HANDS DOWN THE BEST INDIAN FOOD IN TOWN. and im indian. and from the bay area, aka spoiled. do yourself a favor and try it. read more

They served us stale sambhar for the special bombay masala dosa. We got the refund. Disappointing.
