This was the very best experience I've ever had at an auto repair shop, which is why I'm writing my first Yelp review. I called ahead and "Jay" (I suppose this is the same Jatlin that the other reviews mention) said I could stop in anytime. I drove up and he was working on another car outside of the small shop but stopped immediately and greeted me. He drove my car into the one-stall garage and onto the lift to get to work (the speed of this was amazing, if you've ever been to a "standard" autoshop). I had brought a book because this process usually takes an hour or more, but he identified the problem very quickly and went right to work fixing it. I just waited in the garage and got to watch the whole process, which was fun and I chatted with Jay a bit. Once my tire was fixed he made a couple of helpful suggestions, checked my oil and brake fluid and refilled the oil. He drove my car out of the garage and thanked ME. I tried to pay him but he said, "Aww, I didn't do anything worth it," and refused to take my money. It might have been a simple job, but he took 30 minutes out of his day to help me out, and now my car doesn't sound like a blender when I make a turn. I will definitely be using Apna in the future and suggest it to all my friends. read more

This place is the best. Quick in and out service. Jatin is super friendly and an expert in this field. What I like the most is that he wont recommend anything unnecessary. While if you go to a dealership, they will always push for expensive part changes and services, Jatin will only recommend them if there is an actual benefit in doing so or if the replacement is absolutely required. read more

Hold on to your butts, kids- This guy is as good as it gets! Give your other mechanic a call and tell them it's over and that you've found someone new. I used to go to whatever chain mechanic I could find a coupon for, and became completely blind to how many times they would come out of the garage and tell me there was a dragon pooping in my filter and laying eggs in my gas line, or my *insert fake part* needed immediate attention or i'll die. I've actually avoided changing my oil for years. YEARS! Long story short-er, my car was making a god-awful noise that turned heads when I drove by. And not in like the "sweet ride, bro" type of way. It was my brakes and I knew that would be an expensive fix. Freaking out, I did my research and the internet did me good! I grinded my brakes all the way over to Apna in Decatur. He immediately rolled my car up to the lifty thing (this shows all my car knowledge) and went to work! He showed me the noise was for sure my brakes- my front two. Worn to the bone. As he worked, he called me over to explain what I was looking at, what he was doing and why. He is a hilarious dude and kept me laughing the whole time I was there- Which was about an hour, even while he worked on 3 other cars at the same time. He had to order my brakes over the phone and this brake guy appeared out of nowhere 20 mins later and handed them to him. He even gave me a little lesson on welding and a bottle of water while I waited. I will take that kind of waiting experience Judge Judy and stale coffee ANYDAY! Before I left, he took me for a test drive to check out the new brakes. While on the drive, he saw my tire light on. He asked me about it, and of course I didn't know, so he checked my pressure. After fixing my tire pressure, He got back in to check the light- and then noticed my half broken windshield wiper. (I sit on a pillow to see over the steering wheel so I didn't even notice half of my windshield was opaque) He fixed this for me too. I finally got the bill and for the first time ever, I didn't internally scream! (I'm unemployed right now, so that should say a lot..) I was so happy, I even called my mom. TLDR; Funny and reliable guy, perfect and affordable service and AWESOME experience. He is truly a car wizard. read more

Just wanted to say thanks very much to Jay. I was very pleased and impressed with his knowledge and his willingness to advise me over the phone based on the information that I gave him about my vehicle. Based on his knowledge and past experience, he helped me to make a very tough economically feasible decision for a 14 year old vehicle with a quarter million miles on it. He had seen the exact same set of symptoms many times before and was happy to share his advice with me even though there was no financial incentive for him at all. He explained what he would do if he were in my situation. He actually advised that I not bring the vehicle in for repair at his shop or any other. It would likely just be wasted money. He was very knowledgeable, courteous, took the time to explain the rationale behind his advice, and he was not at all in a hurry to end our call even though I was not paying him for his time. Very cool guy and very helpful. I have another vehicle that I will bring to this shop for service for an axle/CV joint problem. If you've read my other reviews I'm going to sound like a broken record since I'm starting off another one of these with the fact that I move around a lot. But, as other frequent movers would know, it makes it difficult to build a relationship with a mechanic and to figure out who will and who won't swindle me as a single female. I hate finding a mechanic so much I usually wait until my dad visits me and tells me exactly what needs to be done with my car. This time I couldn't wait for my dad's visit because I would get this "grinding" feeling and sound whenever I would brake. It's been raining a lot and I don't F with Atlanta traffic so I wanted my brakes in tip top shape since I rely on my poor '02 Honda all day, every day. After doing a Yelp search for Honda repair shops, I found Apna garage with its 85, 5-star reviews. The other garage I was considering was Roger Jordan--but whenever I called their line was busy. I called Apna at around 1 PM and quickly described my issues. The man on the phone said I would need to bring my car in so he can have a better idea of the problem and asked what time I would like to come through. I was surprised he was able to fit me in on such short notice--this made me think that this was a big garage with multiple mechanics. When I rolled up to this humble garage I was surprised to find 1 guy working. There are a few chairs that can serve as the waiting area, but I found that it just served as a waiting area for my bag. The man's name was Jay. I handed him my keys and he drove my car into the garage saying he could hear/feel the grinding I was talking about. After lifting my car, he motioned me over to investigate the problem. I realized that he was naturally talking me through how he was isolating the issue in my car. We found that one of my brake pads was worn down while the other still had 50% life yet. Not understanding why one side would be the issue instead of both, he did some further troubleshooting and figured out one of my sliding pins was stuck--which was causing the uneven degradation. Anyway, my brake pads and rotor needed to be replaced so he made a phone call for the appropriate parts. While we were waiting for them to be delivered, he continued to teach me about the other parts of my vehicle as well as how to monitor common problems found with my particular model. He even walked me through how he was troubleshooting another car in the garage where the engine was messed up due to having unlicensed parts. It was interesting for me to see how non-Honda parts were usually misaligned (or just didn't fit properly) in the vehicle and how that caused the problem. My parts arrived and after a friendly exchange with the vendor, Jay put them on my car in addition to changing my oil. In a little more than an hour, my car was grind-less and I was out of there. It was ~$350 for new brake pads and rotors (front wheels), an oil change, and a little lesson on cars--which I found to be a great value. Just the tips? - Called early in the afternoon, able to bring my car late afternoon, fixed in a little more than an hour - As a single female I feel like I'm easy to overcharge/overservice when it comes to getting my car repaired. Jay walked me through everything he was doing so I knew I wasn't getting swindled and I learned a bunch about my car. - No waiting area, but you don't need it. Learn something about your car, dammit. Man o man, this guy is great, really helped us out. went over a car we were looking to buy, and really was able to see things that people were trying to hide from us. he was very solid and knowledgeable. I am so glad that I found Jay. Like many people I have had some bad experiences dealing with mechanics and car repairs, but he has always been upfront and direct. We had a great experience with the people at Apna Garage. We dropped off our car for a checkup before a long road trip. After looking it over, he told us everything that needed to be done, but also told us which things were not urgent and could wait. They are very honest and reliable and will not tell you to fix stuff that is still working. We went a second time to change our alternator and battery which was repaired very quickly. This review is long over due. I've been going to Apna Garage ever since I moved to Georgia almost 3 years ago. I was looking for a mechanic for my 08 Honda Civic after my ac fan stopped working. I was really reluctant to go to the dealership because of their high prices. I went to Jay and he moved some switches around and fixed it! After asking how much I owed him, he said nothing because he didn't do really do anything. Ever since then I've gone to him for oil changes or any thing regarding my car. Before he opened his shop he worked in service at a major Lexus dealership. Everything people say about him is true. He is genuine, kind, hilarious, honest and big hearted. My car's AC was shot, so it was time to take it in somewhere. I called around town and everyone was quoting me $1300-$1500 to fix it. I saw all the reviews for Apna so I though I ought to give it a shot. The first thing he said was to try and replace the relay switch to see if that fixes it. None of the other places I called even bothered to tell me that. Unfortunately that wasn't the problem, so I had to get the compressor fixed. Not only was it less expensive than the other quotes, but it was done within 4 hours! I will definitely continue to come here for future issues, and highly recommend this place! read more

I've been taking my car to Jay since I moved to this area, and like everyone else, I love the guy. He's upfront, honest, and wants to make sure you understand exactly what's wrong with your car. He'll tell you if something isn't worth fixing, and he moves people in and out fairly quickly. Even with just him working, I still am always in and out fast-- in fact, I recently went to a chain to get my oil changed only because they mailed me a pretty good coupon. It took three hours, and they stripped my lug nuts trying to rotate the tires (then wanted to charge me $200 to fix the problem). I'm never taking my car to anywhere else again! read more

Took my Pilot in for an oil change and was pleasantly surprised, pleased and overall happy with the price, time it took and the experience. $50 for a synthetic oil change where you are in and out in 15 minutes....ummmmm phe-nom-enal!!!! The owner was so nice, spoke to me the whole time (and just like they said- not in a creepy way either) about life in general. I felt so good about my experience, I told my daughter to take the Accord in for work and concerns we were having. Sold! We will both go nowhere else and feel very confident that the owner has our car's and our best interest as his intentions. My friend and I got into an accident while on a road trip and needed a quick fix on our way out of Atlanta. Jatin took a look at the car and determined that we would definitely need a new fan and bumper and warned us that the car could overheat in traffic, so to be careful. Okay, full disclosure, there's a part of me that doesn't want to write this review for fear that Apna Garage will get too popular and if I need to go back, I'll have to wait forever to get an appointment but fair is fair and Jay gave me the best experience I have had with a mechanic, hands down. The check engine light came in my Prius so having just moved to Atlanta three months ago, I went to Yelp for the best reviews. Apna came up as having the best responses so I gambled and made an appointment for the next morning. When we got there Jay was ready to immediately see the car and used his computer to find the issue. He diagnosed it immediately and put it up on the lift to show us what was at fault and we discussed how best to deal with it. While on the lift, we discovered coolant leaking from the undercarriage that we didn't know about until then. A quick pressure test later and a leak in the radiator was immediately evident. Jay assured us that he could fix it if not that day, by next morning and was true to his word. He even made sure that I had a way to and from his shop once he found out that it was my only car. His quote was very reasonable(in fact the bill was less than what he initially quoted), he completed everything when he said he would, he even washed the car and he was incredibly pleasant the entire time. He spent time making sure that we understood our options and was very patient with our questions. If you need work on your car and you don't have a good mechanic already, you'd be remiss not giving him a call! read more

I don't usually post reviews on yelp, but I somehow couldn't refrain from doing so in case of Jatin. I recently visited him as there was a massive oil leak in my car. I went to another mechanic before and despite draining my wallet, the problem still persisted. Jatin went over his thought process and explained his approach to fix the problem. Jay, Is a remarkable individual that will tell you what needs to be done and nothing more. He will not try to sell you on any other services other than what you came for. I bought a used car and started having problems with it. I decided to take it to Jay upon a recommendation instead of the dealership. He flat out told me I needed to get rid of the car because it would only be a money pit. He warned me that if I were to take it to a dealership that they would take advantage of me and let me pay out hundreds of dollars for this car that basically would always be in the shop. Knew I was from out of town and still was was overly honest and helpful. Jatin is the man. Best mechanic I have ever dealt with, and just an all around great guy. I took my car in for a big make or break (110,000 mile) service that I couldn't afford at the Honda dealership. I was considering trading it in, but J gave me a great deal on the parts/service so I figured I'd try him out. Long story short: he explained everything to me, ordered all genuine parts from the dealership and then showed them all to me and broke everything down before doing any work, did the repair in less than 24 hours (probably would've taken the dealership a few days at the least), and even loaned me a car to drive in the meantime. He even fixed my brake rotors and did a few extra services on top of what was required for next to nothing. J genuinely cares about you, your safety, and your vehicle. In the end I feel like I didn't pay him enough. He saved me a ton of time, money and frustration. For the quality of work he does, level of customer care and professionalism, Jatin deserves to make the big time. He is definitely my go to for any car stuff from now on. read more
