I found this garage to bring my car for an oil change. Great pricing and incredible customer service. It's a long story but I lost my dog and had to put her down the day my family was supposed to leave for Thanksgiving and so my boyfriend brought my car for me. I guess he mentioned that I'd lost my dog because a couple of hours later, I received a phone call from the owner telling me he was so sorry to hear what had happened. He shared his personal stories of his pets and offered me his condolences. I was expecting some kind of upsell in the phone call, but he really was just calling in a human moment to connect. Who connects with their customers like that anymore? I found this garage for a simple oil change. Now, I'll be a long term customer for anything that may pop up. When my sister needed repairs on her Honda, the only place I could feel safe where she would be treated fairly was Apna. My sister was impressed by his professionalism and loved his sense of humor. While she was there having her car repaired, she asked if he could recommend a shop that could fix her bumper cover. Cars are not my strength, and I am pretty okay with that. I've accepted that, every time I take my car into a jiffy lube, or most places, I either have to bring my boyfriend/random guy or I'll get some horror story about how if I don't drop $1K that day, my car will blow up. Jay is not that guy. I brought my car in for an oil change and to replace a burnt brake light bulb, and asked him to do a maintenance check up, since I've been driving so little the last year and a half, and it was my first oil change I needed since 2019. He spent 15 minutes under the hood and under my car and told me that all I needed was an oil change and a new brake light. The brake light especially showed me how honest he was - the last place I went told me that they replaced the bulb, but my car's entire wiring was messed up and that was why it wouldn't work. He spent 10 minutes finding the actual bulb that burnt out, which the other place didn't. He then gave me a heads up on stuff to look out for in the future, and showed me information on various recalls on my (not exactly new) car - nothing that he would benefit from, but for general awareness. If taking your car in for any service stresses you out, Jay is the guy to change that. He's nice, he'll talk to you about his wife's plants, and he'll be honest. I've lived in Decatur for 34 years and had no idea that Jay and APNA even existed. I took my car to him last week and he was awesome. He's really good about pointing things out about your car. He changed my oil and pointed out that there was an oil leak due to the last mechanic using the wrong size oil filter. I needed an oil change, and I chose to go here based on a friend's recommendation. I know that saying the same thing as all the other reviews is beating a dead horse, but what the reviews say about this place is really true: Apna Garage is a business that provides really solid service and is honestly run. There's no waiting area; it's literally just a garage. While he was taking care of my car, Jatin (the owner?) likes to chat and make jokes. I wasn't expecting a car guy to be so personable, but he's definitely cool and not annoying/creepy lol. I also had him examine other things that I thought might've been wrong with my car at the time (I recently bought the car used). He happily obliged, and told me afterwards that there was nothing wrong. Finally, he filled up my tires even though they didn't need attention; he stated "you'll need this for the cold weather we've been having lately". What a guy. In most well-known garages, you can just feel it in your bones: they just want your money. That's certainly not the case at this garage. Need more proof? They even offer an oil change for just $15 if you bring your own oil (...actually, I'm not sure if this is a short-term offer or a normal thing...but still!) read more

Offered to hold onto my car until the part was delivered because it was unsafe to drive. Worked on my car as soon as the parts arrive. Kept me updated. He told me exactly what I needed to get my car running, and then he told me a few things that need to be looked at but weren't important. Jay is straight up amazing. Never charges us as much as the other guys, always does a good job and doesn't treat women (or anyone) like idiots. Except phone scammers. The owner evaluated a truck for us that was getting a little older. Ultimately he recommended that the repairs would be too expensive for the overall value of the truck. Either way I really appreciated the honesty and he didn't charge my mother for the evaluation which I really appreciated - she was already experiencing a lot of financial hardship. So, he may not have repaired anything at the time, but I think it's hard to find honest mechanics like this out there. I would definitely go back there for any more evaluations/repairs. read more

Honest and quality. The most awesome auto shop experience. We rolled in with brake and suspension issues. The lift was open. Apna put it straight on the lift, and showed us everything going on under the car right then. What needs fixing now, what might need fixing soon, and chatting whether it's worth it to start repairing this car over 100,000 miles; or better to sell it. He won't BS you or try to sell extra stuff you don't need. Super friendly. We hung out a bit just chatting when we dropped it off, and when we picked up the car. And he walked us out to the car. Please, please, please visit Apna Garage if you are looking for a friendly, honest, excellent mechanic (if you're not then that's weird, but I guess go somewhere else). Apna is located behind a shopping plaza that houses a variety of Indian shops. When you go into the plaza, you won't immediately see the shop. Must drive around the corner, behind the plaza to what looks a dead end. Look to the left and up and you'll see the sign for Apna Garage. Jay was so easy to work with. I went in for squeaky brakes and a tail light that was out. He looked at the car within an hour and told me that the brakes did not need work just yet and the tail light was loose. Simply needed to be screwed back in. For all of his time, removing the tires, examining the brake pads, removing the tail light assembly he charged me nothing! Really kind guy. WOOT. I found a mechanic/garage that I actually like! I called at 4pm on a Friday and Jay was able to schedule me for an oil change at 5:30pm the same day. I was outta there by 5:55pm. His garage is nothing fancy. If you're used to going to a dealership with a nice waiting area with TVs, wifi, snacks, and beverages, you're in for a shocker. But I don't need anything fancy. I wanted a genuine mechanic that I could trust. I wanted to go to a place that did not make me wait for hours for a simple oil change. And I wanted a place that did not come up with a laundry list of things that needed to be done on my car each time I went in. What I liked most about Jay is that he was honest and involved me in the entire process. He loves to teach! Seems like its a one man shop so he focuses on one car at a time, which I appreciated. My synthetic oil change was only $50 and took less than 30 minutes. I am used to waiting 1-2 hours for an oil change and more than 50 bucks at the dealership. I will definitely be back. P.S. Ok guys - you need to drop your current mechanic and come to Apna's Garage. I personally like chain/dealership places the past few years, but I got super tired of being overcharged/waiting 2+ hours for 1 thing. I yelped Apna's Garage! I live in Brookhaven, but honestly, worth the drive to come here. First time I came here... I should note: I'm a complete moron when it comes to cars. It's sad. But anyway... my Prius C was randomly blowing hot air when I had the auto cold temp on. I panicked. I wasn't sure if it was serious or minor... well, it wasn't. Jay saw my car - he just said I should have lowered my AC temp since GA has been changing temps more often. HA. He saw the hood of my Prius and showed me how/what I should look for IF my AC ever really broke. He didn't charge me... which was really nice of him. Most mechanics would probably charge a few bucks just for diagnostic/a car lesson. :P Second time - I'm currently an almost owner of a CPO Infiniti. As every article online has stated, TAKE ALL YOUR CPO CARS TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. I chose Jay since I had a solid time the first time around. I called him at 3pm to see if he an opening on a Saturday. I went in at like 4:30pmish. Ya'll - I think he was slammed but changed his car fixing schedule for me. Was out by 5:15ish. During the inspection, he found like 5 things wrong with the car. 1-3 problems were actually kind of serious. Something that could cost me a fortune down the road/potentially get me in a car accident. Very thankful he found them. I can say this: Jay doesn't charge a massive fee like other mechanics for an inspection :) What I really like about Jay: he involves you in his inspections.
