Never actually used the product but I think the whole system is a scam. I've been using Tretinoin on my skin for the last year and it works miracles! All I needed was a script renewal from some kind of telehealth doc. I spent $20 for a consult with Apostrophe, only to be presented with their VERY expensive proprietary formula, which included a product that I already use and by elsewhere for much cheaper. I used this site religiously for over two years as my only dermatologist. I would get a diagnosis, then I would go to my pharmacy down the street and get my medication at a reasonable price using a good Rx or Rx saver coupon. Now, you can only use apostrophes line of medication which is super expensive and must be delivered to your door and there are plenty of stories of them delivering to the wrong door. So pricey, that medication is plus 80 bucks. If you need 3 that's about 250 a visit, not counting the consultation that you have to pay for to even get the medication, which in total is about $300, for the consultation and RX (and you can't use good RX or a RxSaver coupons for). Remember when they used to care how much she paid for products and would even called the pharmacy to argue the price for you, no more! I was a YoDerm user until the platform switched to Apostrophe...I think it started as a monthly subscription-type thing (or that's just how I read it), so I kept using the treatments I had and planned to find another online dermatologist. Wasn't super happy about that, as some other providers have a clunky set up for appointments. Never got around to finding a new platform and my insurance changed along the way, so my refills of Aczone that I had leftover from YoDerm suddenly shot up to retail price (a little over $400). So, my skin slowly went downhill without treatments for a while, and I finally started looking around for another derm online. Apostrophe popped up in the top of every search, so I decided to check it out. My old account was still there, with treatment records and all. After a bit of looking around, I gave in and decided to give them a shot. My doctor was the same one I had with YoDerm, which was an added bonus. So far, I am really happy with everything! They send you up to 3 months supply of each prescription (3 month prescriptions get a discount) from their compound pharmacy, all in a cute little box with all of the medication info. The Clindamycin + Niacinamide topical formula is great- no burning and it's moisturizing (unlike Aczone, which feels dry/gritty before you put on moisturizer). Also, I love getting 3 months of supplies up front. If I use my local pharmacy, I can only get 30 days at a time. That's 3 trips to the store avoided, which is great during a pandemic! The pricing is a little high on some medications, but pretty fair on most. They cut off the (already) cheap cost of the appointment if you buy at least one of your prescriptions. Considering that most other online derms charge quite a bit per appointment and you're saving that cost at Apostrophe when you order with them, I think it all kind of evens out. I decided to try Apostrophe after missing a July 3rd appt with a new dermatologist I had previously visited thru telemedicine during the COVID quarantine. Anyhoo she prescribed me 50 mg of spironolactone and 100 mg of doxycycline for hormonal cystic acne with heavy inflammation. After running out of the medication she would no longer refill it. (After me not showing) My next appointment with her would be October 20, 2020 which would leave me two months with no medication. Dr. Beckham was assigned my case and a total God send. Cheap, easy, awesome. I go back and forth to my dermatologist a few times a year...which means I have to use a few vacation days a year just for a doctor's appointment. It's impossible to get in to see the doctor not during work hours, and it's never quick. I stumbled on to YoDerm just from google and figured I'd give them a shot. Took about 10 minutes to get set up, the follow-up was quick and just like that I had my prescription and a detailed report of my acne. I was truly shocked at how simple the whole process was. Their business model marries high quality medical care with convenient access and low cost. I have a Masters in Public Health- and if there's one thing I tell people it is that when it comes to Quality, Cost, and Access, you can do well in at best two and possibly only one of the three. But YoDerm and companies like it have the ability to revolutionize healthcare, and telehealth is particularly feasible for dermatology. I am 26 years old and still had poor skin- dermatologists in my area are booked for weeks and it's very hard to get an appointment (low access), many have very large copays (high cost), and in the past I certainly did not get permanent results (average to low quality). YoDerm was easy to get an appointment with, very affordable, and helped manage my skin for the long term much better than doctors have in the past. So my skin was always smooth and putting makeup on was flawless. I love skincare. I always thought the more expensive the skincare the better. No!! It's just a brand. I got a free facial one day through Instagram and got dermaplanning done. It was sooo smooth until the day or two after my face had like follicle infection like ingrown hair from shaving. At first I thought it's how I took care of my face but nothing change. It took a whole year to clear up. So not thinking about it , I said to myself I'm gonna get a facial again once my face clear. I went to a different place but I had dermaplanning again not realizing this was why my face got so bad. It got little white bumps that's not really popable . Some people call this fungal acne, could be I don't know. My idiot self kept using more and more products trying to get rid of it . It temporarily looked better but the bumps wouldn't go away. I tried banish stamp microneedle online too and spent over 100 on it that didn't do much but probably made it even worse. I started to get rid of all my expensive makeup. I got rid of all my skincare stuff. I started only using micellar water, cerave gentle wash. So mostly cerave products, let's say my face was better but the bumps wouldn't go away still. The cerave retinoid help fade scar it's so good but it didn't get rid of the bumps. So a dermatologist youtuber talked about clindamycin cream. To get it you need a prescription from a dermatologist. I'm like i don't wanna go to a dermatologist just for a cream. So I look up to get it online. The only place really was apostrophe. I got clindamycin for the infection, tretinoin for the hyperpigmentation, and niacinamide for the breakout. And I notice my period is when my face breaks out most, I'm not really a pill kinda person but I gave spironolactane a try. My experience with spironolactane was okay. My period was super abnormal from taking it so I started only taking half a pill like every other day or two just to somewhat balance my hormones a bit. First couple weeks you go through the purging stage but don't be discouraged or feel like it's getting worse. It's the process it needs to purge out all that bacteria. So I get the little white heads. I only squeeze it out now when I see a white head other wise I leave it alone. And I try to keep my nails shortest so I don't pick at my face. And I use a tissue to get the white head pus out then I wipe it with the thayer brand unscented toner and then I use high frequency wand (argon purple) to buzz that area to kill the bacteria in my pore. And I make sure my face is clean and then use the cream again. Since I wasn't working I was using it day time too cause I wasn't going in the sun. These cream will make your face sensitive so avoid the sun. My face definitely got better I just have scarring that needs micro needle probably to go away read more

I received a couple of prescriptions from Apostrophe. One thing that bothers me is the containers were sort of loosely closed, so I'm not convinced that the ingredients haven't degraded. When you open the top to apply the cream, the bottom starts to unscrew. I've never seen such poor packaging on an expensive product. Obviously, the container shouldn't expose the ingredients to the air when you try to open the top but this is what you get from Apostrophe. Basically, the packaging is really cheap and not secure. I'm also noticing that I'm not getting any side effects from either of the topical prescriptions, which makes me question their efficacy (since I've typically had side effects from these prescription strength products every time I use them). The price that you're charged is as much as or more than the amount you would pay for the top brands of the purported equivalent topical medications (which obviously have secure packaging that doesn't expose the ingredients to air) when they should obviously be much cheaper given that they very likely aren't equivalent. (The amount you get in the tube is often less, as well.) Next time, I'm going to go back to a traditional dermatologist and get a prescription for a legitimate brand. I really don't think these creams are doing anything, unfortunately. Trust me - you'll save money and get more effective products by top brands if you go a traditional dermatologist. read more
