They sold me a lemon and this is the 3rd person including myself that sold me a straight lemon. Amd now they have the audacity to threaten to get it towed. I don't have the money to pay my insurance and my payment all due to me already having to buy a new thermostat and a brand new battery and a CTS. All together it has coated me 1500 down. 365 a month and I've had it for 5 weeks and I already put close to 950.00 in it. And theu won't even give me a 2 day break until I get paid to pay them. BUYER BEWARE. My husband recommended this car lot because he was financing a car through them. I then financed my own with $3000 down. I had my own account with no cosigner. Paid regular payments ($2900 worth). My husband voluntarily returned his vehicle and the car lot TOOK MY CAR TOO. I had been late on one payment, paid that payment and was "delinquent" on a 12$ late fee I didn't know I had. I did ask if I was to pay the delinquent amount plus the current due payment if I could keep the car since I had never defaulted on payments and was told no. They took my car because of a "policy" they have that says "if one person in a household returns their car or has it repo'd, anyone in the household who is also financing must turn theirs in as well". I WAS NOT TOLD of this policy (they say they did tell me) neither verbally or in writing OR I WOULDNT HAVE BOUGHT A CAR FROM THEM. They also had me initial items on a summary page when I got the car, one of which states "d) I understand that only those representations that are made in writing are binding on me or the dealership.". Again they neither told me verbally nor was this policy in the paperwork. I now have no car and am out nearly $6000 not to mention the parts and repair I had done on this car while I had it. Also, they had a jeep on their lot who's odometer was reading 120k, I pulled a Carfax and it was in the 200k range. Of course, it showed them it had canceled, and they called me threatening to take my car. Scott is the one who called me. He is rude and very hateful. Hung up on me. 5 days ago I had the most stressful 2 weeks.. looking for a car. To all these negative reviews you need to keep in mind you get what you pay for and they do no credit check...my experience was a breath of fresh air.. I had some minor issues with a vehicle I wanted to purchase and they had the repaired right away. They even stayed open for me to come in. I bought this car from here less than three days ago and it broke down on me within less than 30 miles of driving. They never activated the warranty and when I called them they told me that I would have to pay almost $200 to have it towed to the nearest mechanic shop Also with that being said the same mechanic shop is the same guy of the owner of the car dealership they ran off with my money and refused to give me my money back and told me the only thing I could do was pay over $800 to have my vehicle fixed which mind you I just paid them over $1100.0 3 days ago. Pros: i love my vehicle and runs amazing giving the year. Also, I wish I knew the two guys names that I worked with when I first bought my car. They were amazing and supper friendly. The first guy is on the desk to the left when you walk in the door and the second did my financing. I would give both of them a 5 star. Great guys. Cons: I had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with a gentleman named Scott. He had answered the ohone before and was rude when I called but luckily up until yesterday I never had to really deal with him. Had I dealt with him prior to purchasing my vehicle there I would have most definitely went somewhere else. The issues was an error in my part that was simple to fix once I personally was notified of the matter. I admit this error. However, the way he talked to me was most definitely uncalled for. I am a human being and no one no matter what the situation should ever be spoken down to the way he did. On top of that I could not get a word in to even make progress in the conversation. The following day I did not plan on it but I got to personally meet Scott. Everyone else was friendly and easy to deal with but he was once again a jerk to say it nicely. I understand he is doing his job but you can do the same job and have respect towards people. Him alone I would not recommend Appalachian. Two weeks after I bought it I found out that it had major safety violations and that it should not have passed an inspection. They lied to me about having the vehicle inspected and 4 months after buying the car I have had to get it inspected on my own, paid for all the work to be done for it to pass, still havent received the title or tags, AND I'm still having mechanical issues with it. yelp is forcing me to give a star but they get zero stars. i financed a VERY used car and knew i was looking for a cheap POS. they took it to the next level by having a truck that literally didnt even pass inspection aside from whatever junkyard they use to get it passable just to sell it TO YOU. within days it began falling apart and they tried to use the "warranty" i signed up for as a bargaining chip to cover their butts knowing full well they sold me a deathtrap with just enough life to get me off the lot. from that very second they were no longer liable. the owner even knew because i genuinely tried to remedy the situation in a way that worked for both of us but he dodged me for a bit and then the only meeting i could arrange was in the middle of the lobby with everyone around as they ate their lunch so i would feel awkward and he could control the conversation. unprofessional and clearly just looking to turn a buck. and whoever is signing the inspection papers should be put out of business for fraud. I was a little aggressive in my complaints, so I apologized to the owner, Jason. Not only was apology not accepted but I was threatened to have my credit ruined if I didn't pay the payment immediately. They deserve NO STARS. Sold me a scrapyard heap that barely moves. might have been stolen. SHOULD NOT HAVE PASSED SAFETY INSPECTION. NO horn.. no bulb or wiring for check engine light, just a ding the whole time you drive it with no apparent reason why. ignition doesnt lock so tapping the key while driving even by accident turns the car off while your driving it. ball joint is so bad my mechanic said if i drive it any further i risk death or serious injury to myself and/or others. owner said "ill fix the horn no problem".... and guess what? i bought it TWO DAYS AGO! 8 different obd codes that are cause to not drive it any more until fixed. although i could have been a bit more diligent in checking it over before buying, the car shouldnt have been sold to me and its most likely illegal that it was. this company probably wont be around much longer. reap what you sew appalachian motors. Not even worth a star. Worst customer service experience you could ever have. They're the reason used car salesman have the reputations they do. My dad went in ready to buy, had the car he wanted picked out and everything. He wanted to test drive it to pick up his wife(the car was for her). He was yelled at saying that he can't take it to her it's too long for a test drive and their company doesn't allow that. (side note she works in Asheville) Sounds like they know they sale garbage and if you have one of their cars for more than 10 minutes you won't buy it. I sold cars for 5 years myself and I know pretty much every new and used car dealer around and have never heard someone yell at a customer for wanting to take a car to their spouse, it's usually encouraged. My dad then told them they need better customer service and the "gentleman" for lack of a better term through a hissy fit and kicked my dad out of the dealership. Apparently the truth hurts. They can talk to you how they want, but if you question them in the slightest they want to cry and take their ball home because they don't want to play that way. The word "Appalachian" reminds you of hard working, trail blazers that this country was built on. So obviously they need a name change. Maybe to "don't waste your time and money motors" or perhaps just "Go across the street, your better off motors". Long story short, my dad did go across the street to DeBruhl's. He was treated the way you would expect a place of business would treat their customers and is in the process of buying a car from them now.
