Fred Anderson's Subaru - Oil leaking from filter and splattering everywhere

    Fred Anderson's Subaru

I've been dealing with Fred Anderson Subaru for about a year, since I bought an Outback from them…read moreas a 10th anniversary present for my wife. I've also had two routine service experiences, including this morning. Both the sales and service experiences were exemplary. I feel I got a fair deal on the purchase, and the purchase process was reasonably quick with minimal upselling. Both service visits went well, today I was in and out in under an hour for an oil and cabin filter change and tire rotation plus an annual state safety inspection. The waiting area is large, open and comfortable. I'm not usually a fan of dealership service depts, but Fred Anderson is quick and fair. Can't ask for much more.

I was in for oil change and tire rotation. I questioned why those things were needed and decided to decline service today. They told me it would be an hour and a half to 2 hours for the oil change. They must be trying to remove the oil filters with their feet and that's why it takes them so long. I dunno. Anyway, after about 10 minutes, a different "service manager " approached me to "answer my questions " which was just really round 2 of the high pressure sales push. It's so obnoxious to come here. If i hadn't purchased the stupid maintenance agreement, I would never set foot in their service dept again! I did let them align my wheels. When the service manager brought me the sheet, she explained that "red was bad." I noted my back wheels had been 10 degrees off. I commented about that and said "Woo-wee! I don't know how I was able to keep that car in a straight line!" She didn't get it. Save time and aggravation and take your car to a real mechanic that does honest work and doesn't speak to you like you are stupid. I don't need a fancy coffee machine. Thanks.

I am beyond frustrated with the service and lack of accountability at this Ford dealership. About a…read moreyear and a half ago, I received a recall notice for my 2014 Ford Explorer. I immediately called and scheduled an appointment to get the issue resolved and also booked regular maintenance for the same visit. When I arrived, I was told the part needed for the recall wasn't available -- something they could have easily informed me of before my appointment. Instead, I wasted my time and left with an unresolved safety issue. Over the next year, I repeatedly called to check on the part's availability -- after 3 months, then 6 months, then nearly a full year -- and every time I was told the same thing: "We don't have the part." Only recently did they finally contact me to come in and get the recall fixed. I took time off work and showed up for my scheduled 9:30 a.m. appointment. To my disbelief, they again told me the part wasn't available. After 3 hours of waiting they put tape on my car and told me that's all they could do for me. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!! Because of their failure to complete the recall repair in a timely manner, the seams around my windshield have separated, and now the windshield makes noise while driving. This is not just an inconvenience -- it's a potential safety hazard. Ford and this dealership are responsible for ensuring the integrity and safety of their vehicles, and they've clearly failed to do so in my case. I shouldn't have to chase a dealership for over a year to have a safety recall addressed. It's disappointing, unprofessional, and unsafe. I strongly urge Ford to review this location's handling of recalls and customer communication. No customer should be treated this way.

During some needed service, they noted a minor fluid leak atop the steering rack (there were no steering problems, and I was not losing steering fluid). They wanted to replace the _entire_ steering rack. Anyone who has worked on cars (like I did in my youth) knows the difference between nominal fluid spills/leaks and a serious leak problem. Even if this was a steering rack leak (debatable given the deposits atop the rack) it at worst would have been access plug seal degradation. (I took it to a local and well respected mechanic for a sanity check. He confirmed that it was nominal leak-spotting for 22 year old truck) When I pushed back on Anderson to check the access plug first, they refused, saying wholesale replacement was the only service they would perform. In other words, they would not even check to see if the access plug could have been the issue. Avoid Fred Anderson Toyota.

They take your vehicle, give you a timeline, and never stick to it. Every time I bring my truck in, they magically "find" something wrong. Every single time. And somehow the warranty is always "expired" or "not valid," even though it's not. It feels like a script at this point. They also never have loaner cars available. Not once have they had a vehicle for us to use -- even when they know we depend on our truck, even when they know we're on a deadline, even when we tell them we're going out of town and have to have it back. Instead, we get, "It won't be ready," and "Sorry, no loaners." Zero solutions, zero support. The people answering the phones -- the service advisors -- are honestly the best part of the whole place. They're doing their jobs, they work hard, and they're stuck in the middle trying to deliver bad news all day. They deserve credit, because the real issue is management. Whoever is running this place clearly isn't prioritizing customers, communication, or accountability. The pattern is too consistent to be anything but a deeper problem. Bottom line: Ford has never done anything for us but cost us time, money, and frustration. We've been loyal, patient, and clear about what we need -- and it still doesn't matter. The customer service is broken from the top down, and nothing ever changes. We shouldn't have to beg for basic care, basic communication, or basic honesty. I honestly never want to deal with this dealership again.

This includes the service manger Richard. On top of that that try to tell you that you need services that you don't need. I was told I needed spark plugs and a fuel system cleaning, not recommended but needed. Thing is I had that done several months ago at another Ford dealer. One would think that information would be available across dealerships, quests what it's not. My wife and I bought a fantastic Ford F-150 5.4 v8 triton, two days later the truck would not start,I understand that there is some kind of warranty,I called skyline Motors and Vince the owner, drove out to my house with his own wrecker, had towed it to his mechanic, from what I understand Vince had him replace everything to do with the fuel including the fuel pump which I know does not come cheap, and they also found a wire issue and fixed that to,than Vince the owner personally delivered my truck back to me at my house, before Vince left he shock my hand and told me he wasn't charging me ANYTHING for all he had done and done for the truck. Vince could have been like most other car dealers and tell me I bought it,it's my problem now,but he didn't,he went way above and beyond what he needed to to make my wife and I happy with the truck,I would DEFINITELY buy another vehicle from him in a heartbeat, and I actually have one in mind lol.
