We have been there two times and both times we were fortunate enough to get Ve as our waitress. She is professional, smiles when she speaks to you and makes you feel at home. I don't like to leave bad reviews and we've been to Apple Annie's for dessert and it was so yummy, but our takeout dinner last night was a huge bust and I have thoughts. My husband ordered the roast beef and cheddar sandwich with fries and I had the fish and fries basket. His sandwich looked burned and the roast beef was kind of chewy, yet the fries were limp and soggy. My fish was overcooked and greasy, yet again, the fries were limp and soggy. Now here's where I get real angry, I was supposed to get coleslaw with my basket and there was no coleslaw. My husband asked for a side of ranch and he got no ranch. The waitress that took our order ASKED if I wanted tartar sauce and lemon with my fish basket and well, isn't that an automatic???!!! But we said yes and yep, no lemon or tartar sauce! Now I am versed in the fact that dining establishments are NOT real great in quality control and accuracy otherwise Gordon Ramsey wouldn't be making a killing exposing nasty restaurants all over the country. We check our order before we leave any restaurant, but Apple Annie's knotted the top of the to-go bag, making it practically impossible to open the bag resulting in needing scissors to cut off the knot to get to your food. That being said, this is more like a diner so I guess the food reflects that of a diner; greasy and subpar, however the prices don't exactly match the experience. It's more diner food at restaurant prices. We will probably just stick to dessert and take Apple Annie's off the list of takeout places in town. read more

I was driving down the 99, got off to get fast food, then saw the sign. Very glad I stopped here instead. Home-style cooking, possibly a little better than your momma. This is not modern, high-end cuisine, nor does it pretend to be. They've been serving it the same way for over 30 years. Apple Annie's Restaurant has been an institution in Tulare for as long as I have been alive! I love the ambiance and decor of the restaurant as well as the lobby waiting area. It still has the dinner look that I miss in a lot of the restaurants that are no longer here. The food is delicious and the serving size, for the price is lackluster compared to other restaurants nearby. I have to admit that I forget about this place when thinking about a restaurant to have dinner at. I pass by it several times a week and I think it has a lot to do with the Covid restrictions and I think they were only open for breakfast and lunch. The service is pretty good and they are friendly. I'm a loyal customer to places that treat me and my family well...this place does all of that, I'm just not one to complain about stuff, but I don't want my lack of making Apple Annie's a regular destination because they definitely deserve your patronage if you love breakfast and their pies are absolutely delicious. I'm going to do better and try to get out to Appple Annie's Restaurant more often because I believe in supporting our local businesses. I gave it 4 stars because the service is a little slow, lack attentiveness, but I managed in the restaurant business for a long time and I totally understand staffing issues and training can be better in my opinion. No matter what though, they are friendly, they will eventually get your plate together and to you and if you wear something colorful maybe they will remember that you are there, parched from waiting on a refill...if only we were in on the conversation between the waitresses and the cook, maybe we were witnessing love sparking. read more

If you want a diner experience then come to Apple Annie's. You won't regret it if you want good food and wonderful customer service. Plus the place is decorated with antiques for all ages. They have a fun chu-chu train that goes around the restaurant. So fun for the kids. I ordered Annie's Fried Chicken. I like roscoes chicken and waffles and this was much better. Homemade. The batter is fresh with a hint of honey. The meat is tender. Served with my choice of bake potato, corn, garlic bread and homemade split pea soup with bacon. There was a patron that said I used to come here as a kid & lets say they were easily into the social security years. The crowd was a mixture of golden aged veterans and young families. The cuisine itself was an upgrade from Ihop. There was nothing special and still bummed out they didn't have apple based dishes such as an actual apple as a side dish. This place is amazing in all aspects! From the outside seems like a homey place to eat and when you enter it as old fashion decor like a diner. Everyone is so friendly with great hospitality. I'm from Los ángeles and visiting for an event and this place was right next to our hotels and honestly worth it!!! Looks aren't everything, but wow the food is amazing!!! Great burgers, salads, and philly cheese steaks! They truly put love in their food! Also try the homemade apple pie with French vanilla ice cream!! Carrot cake was delicious as well. Wellllll, I'm giving 4 stars bc the food was tasty. I had a BLT with extra Mayo and tomato. The fries were better than I thought they'd be. The sandwich itself was tasty and I was satisfied with it. The bacon was crispy, the tomato was juicy and the avocado was ripe. I had a coffee as my beverage. The only reason I put down 4 stars is because I can't justify paying $20 for a BLT, fries and coffee. The bread was a basic, white bread, like Wonderbread or Bimbo. I'm not really a breakfast guy, usually I'm either running behind or I just don't feel hungry in the mornings so breakfast is a rare treat for me. Today on the way to some escape room action with the family we made a stop at Apple Annie's to fuel up our stomachs and minds before we hit the escape rooms and boy am I glad we did. I had never seen a cordon bleu omelet on any menu before and I was really intrigued so I went for it. The omelet is good sized and filled with chicken, ham, and swiss cheese. It's then smothered with hollandaise sauce and as someone who loves eggs benedict I can testify that it's pretty good hollandaise definitely made in house. The food was great, server was attentive and friendly and everything came out at a good pace. I left happy and full and I'll be a repeat customer if I'm ever back in the area. read more

Great little find in Tulare, CA! Restaurant is clean, service is good, and food was tasty. Husband had the Chili Verde Omelette, with a side of ham, I had a taco salad, no beans. The chili verde was good and would make an excellent burrito... taco salad was very good as well... one of the top taco salads that I have had. Both entrees were very filling leaving no room for dessert... although it would have been nice to try their Apple Dumplings or any other of their apple desserts. Price for food and drinks was comparable to a Black Bear Diner. It is very much worth visiting... we will be back, whenever traveling through, again. read more

"Like Marie Callender's, but with Apples" Whenever we travel on the Highway 99 from the Bay Area, we make it a point to stop at Apple Annie's restaurant. Our visits here are always very pleasant. They have a good menu, and even a decent selection for seniors. (Of course, I am not eligible for that yet, but Someday when I am, I will use that portion of the menu.) The restaurant has a really pleasant interior, with lots of antique items, aircraft hanging from the ceiling, and even a toy model train running around the edge of the ceiling. For some reason, watching the train always reminds me of Gomez Addams. Our server Kari, was exceptionally friendly, as she always is. I ordered the red snapper fish dinner. My wife ordered the senior Taco plate. As always, the meals were promptly and professionally prepared. The red snapper was really tasty. It includes corn, a side salad, and potato, or in my case fruit. It's been a long time since I had red snapper and it was absolutely yummy. The senior Taco plate was much larger than we expected. It actually fills up a medium sized plate. It is served with salsa and ranch dressing on the side. The taco plate is really a sizable dish. Solid breakfast! I had senior breakfast called a "british" includes English muffin, poached egg, bacon, hollandaise. Served with hashbrowns. Yum Parter had country Benedict with biscuit, scramble eggs, sausage and country gravy. Hollandaise was nice an lemony I enjoyed the smaller portion too. The biscuit on the country bennidict was really good! Light and fluffy. The gravy was a bit bland but a little green Tabasco took care of that. The iced tea was good too!
