Randomly in Tulare for the weekend staying on a farm. Saw the great reviews on Apple Annie's. The inside is cute like a super old home style diner. What we ordered: Meatloaf with mashed potatoes Country side bennie Potato skins 2 sodas The bill was $52. Pretty pricy for what we got. My partner said the meatloaf was super old and probably reheated twice. My biscuits and gravy (country bennie) was ok. Potato skins were ok too just average. Used to be one of our favorites! Not as clean as it should be the glass around booths have been dirty for awhile. How to explain this? I like my salad first which we got but shortly after we got our steak dinner, by the time we finished the salad our dinner was cold. We stopped here on our way to our honeymoon in Yosemite. The service is excellent and the breakfast is HUGE. We were severly overwhelmed by the amount of items on the menu, but our waitress helped give us some recommendations. Traveling along Hwy 99 I have passed this place 100's of times over the last 40 years. Suggested to my wife we should give it a try. One of the best meals ever. Home cooked comfort food. I had all meat omelette and Cheree had chili omelette. Great food. I always ask for well done hash browns. They never come this way. These people did it right. Crunchy hash browns. A very friendly guy came up to the table. After visiting with him find out he is the owner who started there as a cook some 34 years ago. We will be back. read more

As a customer at Apple Annie's restaurant, you have to remember this the gentleman, Jose, the manager was referring to came to our table and asked about dad's world war two days and dad said I can do better than that you see my dad has his own podcast and I have made slips of paper with the link.on them and dad gave this gentleman a slip of paper. Jose the manager must be standing in the back watching every move because as dad gave this gentleman that slip of paper it wasn't long until Jose the manager of Apple, Annie's restaurant came to our table and planted both hands on our table saying I thought I told you two guys to leave my customers alone well this was great because the gentleman was still standing at our table holding a conversation with my dad. I tapped the gentleman on the back and I asked the gentleman, this question is my dad and I bothering you and your wife he said, of course not what a stupid question I came to your table. Why would you even ask such a question I pointed to Jose, the manager of Apple Annie's because he was standing right there and Jose had made all kinds of accusations to my dad this is win. I told Jose, if you have something you want to say you say it to me not my father but for some reason, I think it ran much deeper and personal than my father just handing out his World War II podcast Story slips of paper. We found this gem a few years ago and have been going ever since making it a pit stop when going on vacation. It is a small, family owned place, not a big chain. I have always preferred mom n pop type places, chain restaurants are not my thing. The food is big portions, always fabulous and they make the best homemade little rectangle muffins! They have assorted flavors but the blueberry one is my current favorite but I have tried them all. This is the first place I ever went where the muffin is served warm with a tub of butter, I was in heaven once I figured out what the butter was for. Lol My favorite thing is the chef salad, I get it every time even if it's 9 in the morning and I add a muffin for a dollar. Muffins come with some items at no charge, some items its a dollar charge and its 2.95 if you just order a muffin. Either way, its worth it. Once I had their chef salad, I judge all others by theirs, best one I have ever had. Great presentation, I love it and I am not a salad girl. We will continue to visit, its 3 hours from our home but worth the drive. I highly recommend you give them a try, you wont regret it. read more

The last time my wife and I came here was last year in August. I never forgot how delicious the food tasted and man how delicious the dessert tasted too! We actually went twice on this trip, one in the evening and one in the morning. This time I called just to make sure their dine in was open and what a pleasant surprise they were. When we arrived, the sanitizer was everywhere. The lobby chair was taped off so no one can seat together as they wait to be seated. The host will seat you one table apart from another. The waitress also had their face mask, one has a face cover too. This time in the evening I order the French dip and my wife Philly Cheesesteak. For dessert we of course got their delicious apple pie with ice cream. Boy did it bring back memories. The morning I got Veggie omelette with apple muffin, my wife got Corn beef, egg with cranberry muffin. The food is spectacular guys!! Highly recommended!!! So I'm driving back to the Inland Empire from Fresno, California and a hunger comes over me. As I'm driving, I see a giant billboard for Apple Annie's, and something about the name intrigued me. I followed directions provided by said billboard and arrived at Apple Annie's, conveniently located off the 99 Freeway. I ordered a bacon, sausage and cheese omelet with side of hash browns and sourdough toast (coffee to drink). The coffee was decent, so, no complaint there. But, decent is more than you can ask for at any roadside stop type of eatery, so I was happy. Dang! If that omelet wasn't PACKED with sausage and bacon though! Also, they didn't skimp on cheese. The breakfast was delicious. You know what? The hash browns were just as good! No, seriously. They had a nice butter flavor and were super crisp. I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast and made my way to the I.E. with a smile on my face. The prices were reasonable and the service was super friendly, too. Beyond thrilled to report that they are now open for dine in. My dad and I went in on a Thursday morning and it was pretty full. People missed them as much as we did! I got bisquits and gravey. Both homemade and yummy. My dad got a country Bennie: eggs, cheese, and gravey over biscuits. The portions are so big that he always gets a second meal out of it. My Wife and I spent the weekend exploring both King's Canyon and Sequoia National Parks and used Tulare as a base. Before heading home, we wanted to find a good, local spot to grab some breakfast (we had a 6 hour drive ahead of us). After scouring Yelp, we decided on Apple Annie's. Not sure how long this restaurant has been operating, but you can tell its been a while. The inside is not modern at all. The tables and chairs remind me of how Denny's used to look when I was a kid in the 80's. That's not necessarily a knock. It did give the place and certain charm and character. There's also no shortage of knick knacks and other decor to look at while waiting for your food. There's even an old train set that circles around above the dining area. I won't lie, that was cool. I'm a sucker for trains. The service was good. The Manager was super attentive and our server was nice. She wasn't overly friendly, but not in a rude way or anything like that. When eating out for breakfast, I always go for the heartier fare and this morning was no different. I went for it and ordered the potato skins stuffed with egg, cheese, and chili. It was a bit overboard but hey, I was on vacation. Needless to say, they were good. I could tell the chili was from a can and not fresh, but whatever. I wasn't really expecting that from this place. The potato skins were perfectly crisp, so there's that. Would I go back? Ya, sure. Like I said, this place won't WOW you or anything. Annie's is a great place for breakfast we were driving through and found it to be a cute quirky stop that we all enjoyed and I'm sure we'll be talking about for some time. In the lobby they have some of the best old school arcade games it's a total blast from the past! On the walls and shelves are quirky vintage fun farmhouse Disney eclectic collection of signs toys and cool things to look at as you're waiting or dining. Got take-out on a Friday night. No issues with service and food came out within 15-20 minutes after ordering. We got a veggie sandwich, wet burrito, clam chowder and apple pie with apple ice cream. Everything was delicious with big portions. Clam chowder was bit salty but had generous amount of clams in it. You can get it with garlic bread but sadly it didn't come with crackers. Our favorite was the apple pie with ice cream. The ice cream had apple bits in it. Definitely recommend if you like pies. read more

So I was in town for work, and it was one of those rare occasions where my spouse got to tag along. So naturally we tried Apple Annie's, as I've been driving by the billboard on the 99 for most of my life and never actually tried the place. since it was a Monday, we didn't expect the place to be crowed, and while we were still sat immediately, there was a fair amount of people there. They are definitely not hurting for business. The service was also exceptionally friendly and helpful, answering all of our questions patiently and happily. Unfortunately, the food was just meh. I had the California sandwich with potato salad as my side. It was a little odd that they had about 3 sandwiches on the menu that were exactly the same but with different bread and they decided to make it 3 different menu options. This one had a French roll as the bread. It was pretty good, but not amazing. I also asked for mayonnaise to be added and they failed at that. I saw it on the receipt though, so it wasn't our server's fault, but the kitchen. The potato salad was not that bad, before ordering I confirmed it was made with mayonnaise and not miracle whip, because the fastest way to ruin food is to put miracle whip anywhere near it. My spouse had the Hawaiian burger and was massively disappointed. The bun seemed very store bought, and like store brand low quality, because it fell apart and had no heft to it whatsoever. This bun was never meant to hold a burger of this magnitude. And the burger was a little sad because the whole point of a Hawaiian burger is getting pineapple and teriyaki, and this burger had so little pineapple that you couldn't tell it was there, and the teriyaki was served on the side. Lastly, I got the chocolate cream pie, for some reason thinking they would be better at baking than cooking. I was wrong. This pie felt like it was made with sheets of gelatin, because rather than being a cream that you could let melt in your mouth, you had to chew it. The crust was also not flaky at all, just not what you want in a pie crust. Not a super expensive place, but just not good enough to justify spending money there. It's clean, well located, and the service is great. But the food should be the best thing about a restaurant, and for this place, it's just not. read more

Visiting family and came to this spot for breakfast. 6:30am in the morning and served with a smile and warm greeting. I didn't catch the male with glasses name, but he was very nice. First served coffee, which helped wake me up. Then too eat, I ordered 2 eggs over easy, corned beef hash, and i had fruit instead of potatoes or homecooked fries (which is an option) with 2 biscuits and they added gravy!!! yummy. We pulled into town for two days. Read good reviews and really was looking forward to eating here. Had dinner. Asked what was the recommendation for best meals. Was told meatloaf and chicken fried steak so we ordered both and split it. Horrible. Meatloaf had absolutely no flavor corn was from a can and so was the gravy on the meatloaf. The country friend chicken was grizzly. The only food things were the baked potato and the salad. Very very disappointing. Really was looking forward to some kind of apple dessert but was to afraid to try it. Now the right thing would have been to offer us a free dessert and we were not. Don't waste your time if you're driving through. I guess a lot of locals eat here but obviously they don't know what good food is. read more
