Well I was in Brimfield for haircut and mentioned I was going to go to breakfast. Based on a recommendation I stopped at Apple Barn Cafe. The place was had booths in the main part and four tables in the front by the bakery. It is a small location, very typical country decor. I was greeted and seated in the front at one of the tables. I was asked by the server if he could get me something drink while I looked over the menu. I saw a Coke dispenser behind the bakery counter and asked for a coke. I was surprised when I was given a can of Coca Cola and a glass of ice. A quick glance at the menu and saw the Duece right near the top of the front of the menu, highlighted in a red box. The Deuce is two eggs any style, two pancakes, two pieces of meat (I opted for sausage) home fries and toast. I ordered two eggs over medium, sausage, grilled English muffin, home fries (note, I thought it odd the person taking my order asked if I wanted the home fries that came with the meal) and asked what type of syrup. I opted for maple. I ordered an OJ, large. What I was served was disappointing based on the recommendation I had received. The eggs were barely over easy, one was slightly under done. The home fries portion was very small and also under done. Sausage was good, and pancakes were average. I was a bit taken aback by the up charges and the overall cost of a barely average meal. There are many breakfast places in this region, that offer more at a better price. Overall Apple Barn Cafe is the only breakfast place in town and mediocre/ average at best. Some things that could have raised the score of this review- - learn to cook over-medium eggs - cooking quality, potatoes were poorly cooked and the quantity disappointing. - staff should be forthcoming about the up charges. Too be fair these up charges are in the menu, but vaguely referenced. - re-evaluate costs versus portions. $24.25 was much more than the quality and portions. - handwritten bills are prone to calculation errors, which the sales tax is properly calculated. In all likelihood I will not eat here again, and drive to other breakfasts places in the area that have consistently better food at a better value. Sorry to be so harsh, but this was a very disappointing experience.

Love it. Healthier fare than your normal diner, great country atmosphere and friendly staff. Always some unique specials to choose from.

Now I was back in the area and decided to come in and try. The place was a lot more like a bar and restaurant than expected. Lots of seats and a hostess station up front. We went straight back to the bakery counter to order up some sweets and drinks. I got a snickers latte, and a peanut butter bar. Missus got a carrot cake pop, a coconut and chocolate danish, a custom green tea. Drinks came out quick, and we got our sips and bites in. The carrot cake pop was tasty. Very much a carrot cake in flavor and consistency. Warm spices, cream cheese chocolate coating, it was the best bite. The peanut butter bar, too sweet. I prefer to taste the peanut butter rather than the sugar. The same was true of the coconut danish. Too sugary for the dessert, but a good amount of coconut filling. The drinks were also pretty sweet as well. The coffee got masked by the sugar and the caramel overpowered. Wasn't bad, just very sweet focused. Pricing was high, but that area of the state is always a little pricier. It's a decent sweets shack, but I prefer a little balance for the price paid.

The Tiramisu coffee was 10/10 as well as their gluten free chocolate chip cookie. It was nice that they had such a selection for gluten free. The girls that helped us were really sweet. Well the hash alone was the star of the plate , looks home made and not out of a can like most places , the portion was a little small. My mom would tell me when I was a kid, that I won the clean plate award or it was so clean you could just put it back on the shelf it's so clean , well I won it today , looks like I licked the plate clean , and I was surprised they charged me $1.75 for onions , look at the picture , $2.00 for a slice of cheese and .50 up charge for the hash . News to me . So my 11.00 breakfast with a coke turned into $20 in a heartbeat , watch out for the add ons like buying a car . Everything else was good , service was great . My friend got the steak and eggs, the steak was on the small size , maybe 6 oz ? She was a a little disappointed till she took a bite and said it was great !
