It's been two weeks since launch day for the iPhone 6. After the launch, reports came in from different parts of the world with regards to fights, people cutting in line, and other crazy things happening that Apple does not feel the need to address, even though I think it's Apple's responsibility to help control. We were about number 65 in line after counting everyone ahead of us. But the nightmare happened in the morning... At 8am when the Apple Store opened we started out as the 65 and 66th customers but ended up being 165th or 170th in line when everyone in front of us allowed their whole families and friends to cut us in line. I spoke to the Apple employees and to management regarding what happened. Their first response was we have security to stop that, even though security did squat. Then the manager responded by saying "What happens in line outside of our store is none of our business".... So when I raised an issue with her response and what she planned to do regarding the situation. She responded by calling Burlingame Police to talk to me and threaten to arrest me. Really!?!? Talk about insult to injury. So in the end my friend and I didn't get the iphones we wanted. So the whole ordeal left me with a lot of questions. Why does one of the biggest companies in the world not make enough phones to meet the demand? Does Apple like what these lines have become? Not lines for people who want to use their products but to buy and sell in China or eBay for a profit? How many more years of arrests and fights in line before Apple takes some responsibility? Are they waiting for someone to get shot first? Final Thoughts: Even if it takes an extra six months of wait its best for me to order my Apple products online from here on out and not wait in a line. I went in today to because the battery on my mac is no longer charging. It was pretty obvious to me that it had seen the end of its life. The technician took it back 10 minutes later comes out to say that its drained and won't hold a charge. He said that it would be 3-5 days for them to order a battery and then 48 hours to replace it. Seriously. He opened the machine up to see if the battery was ok. It takes 2 minutes to replace it. I asked if they could do it on the spot when I come in. He said they needed 48 hours. If I can make 1 appt to have it diagnosed in 10 minutes, service would be to make a second appt when it is available and replace it (TOTALLY DOABLE). Cost would be $159. I commented about their lousy service and he got all defensive. Online, batteries are only @ $50 to $70. read more

Horrible experience at this Apple store. I arrived on time for my Genius Bar appointment, but due to their COVID procedures, was told to go to the back of their line even after I tried to check in. By the time I got to the front of their line, 15 minutes had gone by and I was told my appointment was cancelled and should've been on time. After I explained my situation, I was consistently explained to that I was late and didn't check in properly and that this entire situation was my fault. Apparently it's my job to express that I have an appointment right at that moment, instead of their employee asking when my appointment was scheduled for. I was trying to be amenable to their process, even though it made no sense to not check me in at least while I waited. I know what time I got to the store, and to be routinely told I was late and couldn't be served as a result was offensive. I'm a young black woman who was dressed in casual clothing during my lunch break, and I have a really hard time imagining this is how every customer gets treated (because I can't imagine this hasn't happened to anyone else.). But who knows, perhaps this Apple store has the worst customer service in the world and is in the habit of telling people what they did and didn't do, even when the customer explains to them what happened. It's one thing to say a mistake happened. It's another thing to tell me I consistently lied about what time I arrived, when what truly happened is that their process is flawed and the individual who I tried to check in with is clearly poorly trained. I came in to upgrade my iphone. I'm on the verizon network. They couldn't do it. They click a little, scan a little, and then get a server error and give up. They are happy to sell me a phone that is not working on my network yet and send me over to the Verizon store across the street, or have me order online - basically take my money before the phone is running on the network. Of course I could get the phone through Verizon, but I hate buying a phone from Verizon, with their complicated billing/financing trickery - surely this is a conspiracy with Verizon behind the server error. But this is a bad review for the Burlingame Apple store - my last iphone I got from the Apple store in SF at Union Square. Now those guys DO NOT GIVE UP. They worked hard, they called Verizon, they bring it. It seems Burlingame management has decided not to go the extra mile for their customers. I stopped in last minute to purchase a new phone and some accessories. Initially I was told it would be a bit of a wait. (I did not mind waiting as I walked in with no appointment at 5pm on a Friday) however to my surprise someone came over to assist me immediately. Carlos was excellent. I wanted to upgrade my 11 pro max to the 15 pro max, he helped me decide which color, storage options and case to get. He handled the entire update, set up and exchange and explained everything along the way and made it simple to transition to the new phone. I'm very satisfied with my visit. I had a good experience at this Apple Store this morning despite it being a holiday week! I had an appointment with a specialist at 10AM and was greeted at the door before opening to make sure I was all set. Once the store opened, I met with Sidney and she was very warm, approachable, and helpful. She also set me up with a Genius Bar appointment when I shared that my current iPhone was busted. I had to kill some time before my appointment slot. The Burlingame location is close to restaurants, coffee shops, shops, and is generally pleasant to walk around. I found every Apple staff member extremely friendly and eager to help. I also saw an iPad workshop happening in the front of the store and attended by a few folks -- I didn't realize they did that but will recommend it to a few of my relatives who I think would appreciate and enjoy it. My Genius Bar experience was a bummer. Team was nice and attentive, but without even looking at my phone the technician was able to tell me it was unsalvagable. Since the information I provided was apparently enough for him to know that, I wish they had a system that would have allowed someone to just tell me that instead of having me wait 90 minutes for my appointment. I was directed back to a specialist to purchase my new phone. Verny was kind and quick. I heard staff members ask the same kinds of questions and chitchat with customers, so my sense is that the managing team is strong in coaching and preparing staff members for customer service and engagement. So I went to the Apple store in Burlingame after a disappointing experience at the one in Hillsdale. Honestly such an improvement! The one in San Mateo the Genius Bar associate told me my warranty was not liable and I had to pay for a new broken remote while the one in Burlingame I was told (after they inspected my remote) the battery was building up with gas pushing out the pad. I arrived at the store after walking several miles only to be told I would not be allowed in without a reservation. I told the person at the door I was there to get a warranty exchange Smart Cover and he told me I had to go online to do it, which I found out was not true. I told him there were no customers with appointments currently waiting and it would only take a couple of minutes for me to take care of it. He insisted I make a reservation and to read the sign behind me for my options. I found out after calling Apple Support he was wrong and was directed to another store (Stanford Shopping Center) which was very customer oriented and took care of my issue in 10 minutes or less. I'm still reeling from my experience at the Burlingame Apple Store - Genius Bar. I typically go to San Mateo or SF, but this location had the soonest available appointment... A summary of the experience is below: 1. The Genius bar attendant - Ryan - was rude from the get-go. Not sure if he was having a bad day, but that level of immediate disrespect was absolutely unwarranted. 2. This was my 4th time interacting with Apple in the last 3 months - (2) previous genius bar repairs, (1) 45 minute long call with an apple advisor, (1) absolutely terrible pick up experience. 3. Ryan pretended not be able to find the notes that detailed this being the 4th interaction, and how all the repairs were connected. He feigned being a technician, and shared false information regarding my computer and the repair - mind you after 3 months I was very familiar with the repair process and the issue at hand. The manager was within earshot and did not immediately intervene. Another customer within earshot shared that she also had a series of terrible interactions with Ryan. 4. The interaction with Ryan ended up with him storming off while continuing to mumble things under his breath - an absolutely inappropriate way to interact with clients. At this point, the manager finally address the situation. 5. After much back and forth, the notes were 'miraculously' found, and the issue was resolved. The team is friendly and helpful. We were told it will take 45 minutes but the repair was quicker than expected. FAMILY ORIENTED APPLE STORE! I buy most of my Apple products at this location. The staff here are generally friendly and knowledgeable. They are always well staffed especially during "Black Friday" and most of their holiday sales. They used to give student discounts but from what I was told recently - they stopped doing that in exchanged to an Apple Itunes Gift Card instead! Bummer! Parking here can be a challenge. I recommend if you can - shop here during mid-day during the week! You are guaranteed "primo" parking not far from the storefront and you will receive excellent help especially when utilizing their Genius Bar! If you are not familiar what the "Genius Bar" is about - think of it as their "Geek Squad" like Best Buy & Customer Service Dept. like from Target but better service! I should know as I recently had issues with my Macbook power cord and the manager on duty noticed it was in fact an Apple manufacture defect and no questions ask handed me a new one in exchanged! Such great service! If you are in the market for a computer or tablet - consider Apple products mainly because they are good and they do service what they sell (most of the time). You also get the benefit of their customer friendly staff who are certified to understand and to help resolved your issues. If I could give it a minus I would. The staff are rude and prepotent. I took my airpods pro for exchange since I had bought the warranty. They keep dropping connection and it doesn't hold the charge for more than 1hour and a half. The technician gave me the run around and said that they needed to be tested and see if I qualify for an exchange and I needed to come back in an hour. This review does not reflect on the guy that helped me in the store, because he was friendly and thorough. So, I lost one of my Dre beats studio earbuds. I thought I had to order them all over again, but I find out that I can actually buy one. I went on apple.com and connected with their chat feature. I explained the situation and they informed me that I could buy one earbud. The guy also help me set up a scheduled appointment at the Burlingame store to purchase the item. I'm sure in their system they were aware that I was going to buy an earbud, so I figured I would just pay for it and walk out the door. Not at all the case. My information was entered into their little iPad and after a friendly interaction with a sales rep, I was told they would have to be ordered and I can only pick them up. That was absolutely a waste of my time. Other than that, the stores nice, employees are all uniformly dressed and look very friendly. Keep in mind, if you have an appointment, get there early. I came in to run a diagnostic on my 2018 MacBook. The MacBook is brand new and really hasn't been used much for storing files or anything, just day to day use. Well it stopped turning on a while ago and I went in to see why. Apparently I need a new battery which like ok so 200 dollars for that. (Not really logical tho considering it's a new MacBook it shouldn't have issues so early on) and then running more diagnostics, apparently my logic board needs fixing to. Bringing my grand total to 800 dollars. Are u kidding? I could buy a new laptop with that. Oh and then I had to buy a new power adapter which was 80 dollars. That was the most ridiculous shit I've ever heard. How can so many things be wrong with a brand new laptop. We decided to go to the store ,the store manager signed us for a "technician ". After 15mins a out "technician" arrived to assess the issue but she couldn't explain it. I made an appointment to speak with a Genius for two non-functioning iPhones. 1. The first iPhone would power on; however, the screen was green. Sometimes the screen wouldn't illuminate at all. Gerald, the person I spoke with, took the phone to the back. He returned a few minutes later and said that it has water damage. He stated that the water indicator sticker inside the sim card slot turned "red." He said it would cost $550 to repair (or perhaps replace). I declined. I took this phone to a third party Mac repair shop (with positive Yelp ratings). In short, the tech said the water indicator sticker DID NOT turn red. I did, however, have to replace the screen. It cost me under $170 to get it repaired. (In one of the reviews below, someone brought their water damaged iPhone to get looked at. Apple replaced their phone for free. It appears Apple cherry picks as to which customers get the freebie "at fault" warranty services. I have noticed a few customers get freebie replacement services for at-fault damage) 2. The next phone I had Gerald (The Genius) look at was my old iPhone 7+. It had been sitting in my desk for months doing nothing. It would not turn on at all. I suspected it was the battery. Gerald took it to the back. Moments later he came back and said it was more than the battery. It was likely that the logic board was dead too. I took this phone to another third party shop where they replace phone batteries and screens. Gerald/Apple straight up lied. It was only the battery that needed replacement. It took 15 minutes to swap out. I was done for $50.00. I work in the IT industry (and can get my hands dirty with tech) and my visit with the Apple Genius at the Burlingame store was quite the scandalous experience. read more

Super customer service today with Jesse. I was so overdue for new MacBook and accessories so I placed my order online to pickup at the store and it was soooooo easy! I parked close so that I wouldn't get jumped and robbed (hahahaha!) yea, right! Its burlingame! Not taking any chances as I walked in around 8:00pm and immediately was met with a smile and friendly eye contact from Jesse. I came today to return my imac 24inch and to pick up a new macbook air at burlingame store. I received an unwelcoming experience, i came in the store, the associate was helping didnt say hi how are you, that is the bare minimum from the apple training when you first get the job. I used to work for apple 2 years ago at stonestown, that we were supposed to do things differently. I guess now apple lower their high standard training expectations for the new enployee. The associate wad supposed to say " hi, how is your day today! I salvaged my macbook thanks for googling, no thanks to the helper at this location. It was a discrete gpu failure and yeah, one could pay through the nose to have a whole new logic board installed...or one could just run a software fix to force the macbook to use integrated graphics only. Wouldn't it have been nice to have heard this, rather than a bullshit answer that I should buy a whole new macbook for $2700 lol. The fact that the Burlingame location has consistently lazy, impatient, unintelligent employees that lack customer service skills and communication skills is what made this experience absolutely horrendous. On top of the fact that this unnecessarily took so long to repair. Melissa was the only helpful person at this store. The first time I worked with her she was still being trained. Her trainer was not knowledgeable, had poor communication skills, and had no customer service skills. He could not answer my questions and had to take out a notebook to try to refer to what was wrong and how to resolve it. He was impatient, uninterested, and made me feel like I was an inconvenience. He was not articulate and genuinely didn't know how to explain the problem. My phone was later submitted to engineers to be examined. I did not have my phone for more than 2 weeks and it took about a month for this to finally be resolved. When I heard back regarding the quote to fix my phone I was unaware there would be a cost. I also researched on my own and found I qualified for the free repair as my phone fell under the conditions of being a defected model and built in the range of November 2016 to the date specified was covered. I spoke with Apple Burlingame's Genius Bar tech, Nicole, and she was horrid. She could not explain what was wrong with my phone nor the reason why it was now being quoted at $319 to be repaired. When she relucatantly answered my question she just said there was something wrong with the motherboard. She was rude and quick to get me off the phone. I asked how long the repair would take and she said 35 business days. Honestly wtf. Even Apple Support was shocked to hear I was quoted this from burlingame. I had to reach out to Apple Support in order to get the help I needed. They spoke with the engineers to find out further info as they also noticed on their end that the notes weren't written well regarding the reason for the require. Afterward they recommended I have my broken phone sent back and they'll work with me directly to rectify the situation. When I received my broken phone there was paperwork which stated that my phone had unapproved modifications which is not true either. When I spoke to a apple support they clarified this meant jail breaking, getting it fixed by a third party, etc and I've never done anything that fell under this list. Melissa was the only person that was helpful and I sincerely appreciate all that she did. When I last met her I was originally dropping off my phone so it could again me mailed back to the techs and be waived the quoted cost then be sent back to me at a store. Melissa took note and acknowledged entire experience I went through to resolve my phone issues and she was intelligent enough to escalate it so I can have a fixed phone that day. Unfortunately the terrible experiences are overwhelmingly memorable and what I'll associate with Burlingame and with the Apple brand. Now I get a call that they want over $700 and I have to agree to it before they do work. The email they send is defective- the "confirm" button does not work. A top technology company can't figure out how to do a simple email. I call the manager in Burlingame who tells me: they do not know where the computer got sent (what?) and can't contact the place directly (really?) so they need to "escalate" it up and that could take several days until we just resolve how to get a consent to add charges they created. Ms. Vy's Customer service skills was BEYOND exceptional! She definitely added a kick start to my week with a Can-Do attitude! When approaching entrance Ms. Vy assisted me in a swift, professional, charismatic manner. Immediately grabbed my attention and looked forward to make a transaction. I informed her I was looking into a keyboard for my iPad Pro. Ms. Vy was quick to scan through the department's inventory to inform me what was available. Being very informative by giving me options of which accessory would be the better pick for my needs. Her knowledge and quick actions drove me to pick up a magic keyboard with no hesitation. I was so enriched by her enthusiasm and her drive to make sure I had all of my needs met, Ms. Vy also mentioned to me about the new Apple Watch series. Extremely slow customer service! I walked in to the store, stood there for 10 mins and no staff even wants to ask me how can they help me. Finally I asked a staff that seems to have nothing to do, and he set up an appointment at the Genius Bar, telling me to wait 20 mins and a specialist will help me. 20 mins later, I came back, checked in and still no one comes. read more
