The wait was very long and I wasn't initially told how long it would approximately be. I finally asked after about 30 minutes passed by and it took another 10 minutes or so for someone to help. Once the associate helped me it was in and out without 15 minutes. Be prepared to wait a very long time for help. Overall, it was a very nice, clean, and organized store. read more

This store is more like a prison camp. Find better options than Apple. Apple has inherent quality problems with their phones and require huge amount of customers time to resolve. I had a iPhone 7 that the cell service stopped working because of an Apple update. They sent me a new phone. After being without a phone for a week, the problem reservined two months later. After taking it to a Apple Store they wanted to send it off again to get repaired! I would be without a phone again for weeks! I bought the issue up to store management, they would not address my problem or concern. Find a better option than Apple! read more

After following the arcane Genius Bar booking protocol I showed up for my appointment to have the battery of my iPhone replaced. The person ran some test and confirmed what I already knew, my battery was done. I was told $49 and to come back in 2 1/2hrs to pick it up. So I return to pick it up only to be lectured that the battery was damaged so they refused to repair it. Instead they said they could swap the phone for $350. Think about this. I went to have a defective battery replaced. I was happy to pay to have the work done. Yet Apple refuses the repair the defective battery because it was damaged!?!?!!!! So I went to the local corner guy (Gadget Bar), didn't have to book an appointment, he put in a new battery in less than an hour and it's all good. So shame on you Apple for your arbitrary policy and customer hostile approach. Time to switch to Android..... read more

I recently visited the Apple Store in Deer Park, IL to fix my cracked iPhone screen and the service I received was nothing less than exceptional. I talkend got the process going. I truly felt like the only customer in the store and was in and out with fixed phone in a very reasonable time. Being a busind to Store Leader Joan Allen, who helped me immediately and with great care. Joan set me up with a leader at the store who quickly processed my request aess owner myself, I recognize great service very quickly. The team that Joan has developed at the Deer Park store has truly impressed me. I'm glad this place is here, but they didn't have what I wanted (DGI to S-Video cable, which Apple sells online but not in the stores). Seems like a really pared-down Apple store. The person who assisted me did so very promptly. He didn't have what I wanted, but suggested other places to get it (couldn't find it in other stores, either, only on the web). To my question about the latest Mac OS, he gave me a sugar-coated 'official company answer' that told me the problem I was concerned about still existed. Nice if you want an iPod, but then, you could go to Wal-Mart for one, too. PS. I returned almost a year later to find they had stocked quite a few DGI to S-Video cables. Fantastic customer service at the genius bar! As I walked in to the Apple store, towing a 5 or 6 year old iMac, this young employee looks at me in shock/awe and says "man, that's OLD School." I brought this broken relic in to the store to see if the hard drive could be salvaged. In the past, we had been told there's nothing they could do unless we bought a new Mac, but I wanted to give it one more shot and I'm glad I did. The gentleman who helped me was easy to talk to and quickly showed extracted the HD from inside the mac, sealed it up for me in a static-free bag and i was on my way. The only thing keeping this whole experience from a 5 star one was that I had the fight my way through a multitude of employees asking if I needed anything, had questions, and general pushiness. Totally fun place to hang out. Lots of mac books, iPods and other stuff set up so you can play with it. Most of the sales drones knew their stuff but we got one girl who didn't really know anything, maybe a trainee or something. We wound up spending a couple hours asking questions and walking out with a mac book. They seemed a little tougher than the "air" which felt like if you dropped it the whole thing would crack in half. They had two computers set up running kids games which didn't seem like enough considering the number of customers in the place. Still the boys had fun playing "Lego Star Wars" and some other kiddie games. My wife loves her new MacBook. =] read more

I went to this Apple store 11/9/19 with my daughter, son-in-law, and 3 granddaughters. We were there looking for gifts for my twin granddaughters. I'm 72 and have disabilities. I asked for a chair, but none were available. They only had high stools without arms. I can't sit on stools like that. I had to go and wait in the car while my whole family shopped. Surely Apple could afford to have a couple chairs available for people who are disabled or elderly. I'm a health professional and see many young clients who also have disabilities who could use chairs. Please be considerate of those whose abilities are less than perfect. I'm giving this Apple Store two stars because they provide a place where I can go and look at the new Apple products. However, I would not let the 'genuises' at the genius bar serve me a bottled beer let alone have them work on my Apple products. I recently took my iphone 6s in for a new battery. I setup an appointment and was seen immediately upon arriving (so far so good). When they wrote up the repair work order they told me it would take an hour and a half to replace the battery. I told them that I could not wait that long so I would just like to buy the battery and I can replace it myself. This is when it got interesting. The woman who wrote up the work order (she was a very nice person) asked one of the geniuses if I could buy the battery. The genius proceeded to tell me how complicated it is to replace the battery and also how dangerous lithium-ion batteries are. Did you know that they can catch on fire and even explode! Well, even a nimrod knows that is what I felt like telling him. A little background about me. I have an MS in Chemical Engineering and have been a practicing engineer for quite a while so I understand chemistry and I also know the complexities of opening up the iphone and replacing the battery. Quite frankly I will piss away more knowledge about chemistry than these 'geniuses' will ever know. So when I tell them to stop lecturing me about chemistry I wish they would shut up. However, this guy didn't and then when he realized he couldn't overwhelm me with his razor thin knowledge of anything he took the stand of 'its against Apple policy to sell iphone batteries due to the safety issues involved". Like I said, I wouldn't let this guy serve me a beer at the genius bar. For anyone that needs technical assistance with their Apple product I would recommend YouTube and internet forums before I would even consider going to see the 'geniuses' at the genius bar. By the way they did replace the battery and so far no problems. But 90 minutes and a bunch of technical 'jargon' trying to justify the inefficiencies of their business process does not result in a good rating. read more

The other day I walked into this store and walked past LITERALLY five employees, all just watching me walk by and hovering by the front tables and even making eye contact with one of them, and no one even greeted me. This was so weird to me, especially at a place like Apple that I always thought was so customer service-oriented. The older lady near the back of the store that ended up helping me was really nice, though. So that kind of saved my experience. Went to the store and was told I could not enter to buy merchandise as I did not have an appointment. I was told to come back 2 hours later. When I got home, I realized the iPad I wanted was back ordered and the store had 0, even when I told the associate when I was told to come back what I wanted to purchase. When I was there, the store had three associates just standing there without customers and yet I was told to come back. Associate upfront was very rude and bothered to help me as if he was on a power trip. Never returning to this store and thinking twice about buying Apple products. The Apple Store surprised me yesterday. I have a 2012 15" MacBook Pro and noticing blotches in the screen. I thought it was smears but after using a computer cloth they would not come off. I you know anything about MacBooks laptops of any level they are expensive. I expected for them to say you will need a new screen and it would not be the worth fixing it then buying a new or used MacBook. I made an appointment and the Genius Bar said we have three options: 1. In house replacement $500 2. Send to factory $600 3. Or free replacement. I was what was the catch, the service tech said since the body is in perfect condition due to have a plastic shell this issue should not happen until year 8 plus, therefore it is a QA issue and will replace it for free. read more

My iPhone X was crashing and freezing. I called Apple, made an appointment, and brought it in. They were kind enough to replace it for free under a "quality program," which I think means they're replacing screens that fail for free but not publicizing it. The phone works fine now. My only complaint is why they had an armed security guard at the entrance. I have no problem with security, but guns have no place in an Apple Store or any other retail store. If someone is going to steal merchandise, using a gun is not the proportionate answer. read more

Im a busy person, it took me 6 month to find some time so i can go to apple store. I also have a problem with syncing my iPhone. So finally i took a day off so i can go there and take care of problems with my macintosh. I made a genius bar reservation and a guy with a title of "president" took a look at my computer His name is GEORGE VASEN Jr. and seriously I haven't had any training on apple computers and it ended up with me lecturing him on what is possible or not. What this guy is good for is wiping off drive and installing a clean install. seriously WTF I own apple computers for past 5 years, so with each upgrade that I do I get to keep some of my older software versions as it is with JAVA 6.0.(for my kind of work many websites wont work without it) So I'm explaining to him; I don't want to start over I need to fix the problem and he replays that it is impossible: fixing iTunes, it would take too much time what do i care ? i have an iPod iPad iPhone and no use of them because of my messed up iTunes He tells me: if i restore any files from back up it will just copy the problem with it //genius - ha, seriously is this a joke ? After coming In to have my iPhone repaired I was told it would be over an hour wait for the repair, I told them I could not wait and would be in The following day. The same evening I tried to call the call center to confirm the device was fixed. I live roughly 40 miles away from this store (but it still is the closest one to me) over the phone they told me it was fixed and ready for pick up. I go in the following day to pick up the phone only to be told the paperwork was incomplete and the first screen they put on did not work and it would be an additional 30 mins to put on the other screen, when asked why I wasn't called and told about the issue or emailed or anything of the sort the lady kinda shrugged and didn't have an answer. I am not very pleased with this service they are wasting people's time, giving incorrect information and not making any effort to inform someone of their own mistakes and trying to resolve them. I definitely will not be returning to this store I would rather drive and additional 20 miles than deal with this store! read more

Thought my appointment was at noon, so I checked in at 11:45. Sat around for 45 minutes before someone saw me. I know it was my mistake, but the courtesy of giving me a warning that nobody would be able to see me for another 45 minutes would have gone a long way. Instead I sat and stared at a wall for nearly an hour when I could have been browsing other stores. I've always been an "Apple guy" and always will be for the foreseeable future. I fix windows computers for my job and let's just say that all Microsoft is good for is keeping me in a job. This store has great customer service...once they have time to help you. Because there are no checkout lanes, it makes it hard for them to know when you are ready to pay. I understand the strategy behind not having checkout lanes. The experience is more personal. However, despite the poor state of the economy, Apple is doing just fine. They should have the resources to hire more people to adapt to their increasing customer base. The other star was deducted for "techy" reasons. I was discussing a few issues once, and also certain capabilities of some software, and instead of simply saying "I'm sorry but I do not know the answer to your question. If you give me a minute, I can do some research for you. ", the genius gave me wrong information. I informed him that he was wrong and had evidence to back it up. He WAS nice enough to apologize. Also, these were not questions that only true computer geeks would know the answers to. I put the word "techy" in quotes because they might be slightly more beyond the scope of knowledge that the everyday user has. The complaint mentioned above is probably just applicable to that employee, but being the company that Apple is, they need to make sure that their geniuses have the right amount of knowledge, or the customer service skills to research issues on the spot if they do not know the answer. read more

Furious! I had a new battery Dec 11 th I come in after experiencing over a month of my screen not reacting. I thought it was IOS related I couldn't update the latest version. After spending 2 hours with apple support they said it was hardware. I came in to get the issue fixed they tried to charge me $150 AFTER I paid $80 for a new battery that basically caused the issue! I had a serious horse riding accident was unable to drive so missed the 3 month guarantee window for the repair. ( writing this still in a boot and limping) my friends phone was replaced for free for the same issue. If I hadn't had the iOS update issue I would have known it was the battery that was also not my fault! I missed the window by 20 days and like I said I couldn't drive and my husband was in NY for 2 weeks previous. Have to go to Verizon and get any free upgrade phone now and lose access to my apple iTunes! Worst customer service EVER! Apple products do not last! Not one scratch on my iPhone 6 Plus , I looked after it, I had my iPhone 4 3 years I have three iPads and an iPod touch and Apple Watch. Won't buy another apple product again. read more

Today I'm wearing the saddest panda face ever. Enter the tale of Candice G and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. You see I attended an event last night in the way out NorthWest suburbs that was over an hour and a half from my house. I made arrangements to stay at a friend's place nearby knowing I'd be feeling exhausted and not looking forward to the late drive back. Before laying my head to rest I got a little bit of work done on laptop so I could have a bit of a head start to the busy Friday ahead. Today I awoke, bright and early and ready to get my work on. I opened up my (apparently) Godforsaken month and a half old MacBook and saw that it was acting all catatonic and shizz. I was able to close my web browser, but unable to get into anything else on the desktop. FROZEN. I'm able to make a box pop up that gives me the option to restart, so I go with that as it appears I don't have any other options. The laptop powers down and begins to restart but stops on the loading screen- the all white screen with a grey apple and little rotating circle/line thing. So I wait and wait and wait some more but still the same white screen, grey apple, and stupid rotating bar/line thing. Let's try closing down again by holding the power button for 10 seconds. Same thing. I tried it probably 8-10 more times and then I decided to just let the little loading screen stay for a while longer while I try to google the issue from my phone. Upon Googling I was taken to LOTS of Mac Q&A boards with users who had posted having the very same problem. None of them listed any resolutions and one guy said he let his Mac on with the loading screen for 3 days thinking it was just working through an issue before he gave in and headed to the Apple store. I gave mine 3 hours and some phone time with the most rock star tech guy I know to no avail. So off to the Genius Bar I went. Now, believe it or not, until today I had never ever ever been in a Mac store. I have an iPhone through Verizon and up until a month and a half ago always used a regular old PC. Plus, to be frank, I always just figured I couldn't afford anything from the Apple store... or maybe I just thought I'd be happier with a PC and some pairs of shoes than spending more money on the Mac. The verdict is still out on that one as my old PC still works and my new Mac does not. I walked in pretty clueless, unshowered, and wearing my sad panda face. Maybe 10 seconds pass where I just stared into the abyss of happy Mac loving customers and geniuses and thought "Why me?" before I was approached by a Mac man offering to help. I explained my issue and he was able to whip out his magic Mac thingy and get me scheduled with a Genius at the Genius Bar within 10 minutes. A shock since they were packed on a Friday during lunch time. The Genius man gave my Mac a look and tried all the little things my prior tech guy had me do. He then ran some report that made the screen go black and pump all this white code onto the screen (sounds more gross than it actually was). It was both terrifying and a relief to see my screen not be that damn white screen+grey apple+rotating circle/line thing. He found a weird thing and ran in back to get his hard drive. In less than 10 minutes he had a solution to my defective Mac that somethingsomethingsomething sibling not communicating or whatevs was going berzerk inside my little machine. He gave me two options, both of which involved wiping my laptop of everything on it, but one involved trying to back-up as much as they could and then reinstall and *maybe* that would work but it could take... (there was a pause when he said it) a REALLY long time. Because my laptop is a different kind of beast I need to wait until Monday for it to have a chance at being revived- but I'm as happy as any person with a defective and still not functioning Mac could be right now. We had to wait just under an hour to make a simple purchase. The purchase itself took 2 minutes. I work for a non-profit organization and when i went in to buy a couple items the apple employee seemed quite annoyed that i wanted to use a tax exempt letter. she was NOT very friendly and then it blew my mind when i found out she was a MANAGER! don't get me wrong b/c i LOVE apple products and i'm the one who changed over our entire platform to mac (1 G5, 5 macbook pros, 2 imacs). so i was quite ticked off when the customer service was pretty horrible to say the least. it's like she was skeptical that my purchase with a tax exempt letter. my solution: i don't go to Deer Park anymore. However, I decided after the appointment to talk to a sales person about upgrading my phone and also taking a look at the Apple Watch. I was introduced to Scott who was extremely unprofessional, I asked a question about a feature or a comparison of this model to another he would ignore my question and when he did say something and he told me to look online for the answer. When asking about pricing he said I can find that online as well. I then asked about the Watches and he said he can't show them to me because the store was closing. 2 weeks ago, tried to go in Deer Park Apple without an appointment. I was told an hour and a half wait, so I left. Last week, I made an appointment. When making an appointment they asked what kind of phone and for the IEM number. Apple customer service was informed of all phone information and scheduled an appointment for me to get a new battery for an iPhone 6. We showed up for our appointment a little early and waited. Finally someone came to help us. After entering all the information the Apple person said the phone needs a new battery. (Really? That's why I made the appointment but I get it. They confirmed). So then the Apple employee tells us, they're out of batteries for the iPhone 6. Are they kidding? we made an appointment for a new battery, we show up for the appointment and now we're being told they're out. The Apple person said that Woodfield has 235 batteries and we could go there and get one today, otherwise it would be 5 days. Seriously? No batteries in stock and we can run to Woodfield? Why don't they run to Woodfield and pick up a bunch? What was the point of making an appointment for a new battery and keeping the appointment to find out they're out of batteries. Oh yeah, they screwed up by not having a battery for our appointment for specifically a new battery, but... no apology. read more

I own four Apple computers, 4 iPads, and 4 I Phones. I have never had a reason to complain before now. But I felt I needed to let people know about the incident that I recently had with Apple. I bought an apple care insurance which is supposed to cover my Apple computers beyond the normal warranty period. I I took one of our laptops in to the store due to a problem with the mouse. After leaving it there, they called and told me that they found water damage and would be unable to repair it under my insurance. The cost to me would be $750. I went back to the store and picked up the computer, was denied the privilege of seeing any kind of pictures or documentation of the damage. I took it to a reputable computer repairman, Who opened it with me there and there was no water damage. When I went back to Apple and told them of this and again asked to see pictures, I was told I would need to call their AppleCare number. I called AppleCare and spoke to a very nice woman who promised she would look into it. That same morning I was called by the store manager who was very unpleasant over the phone and said he could not or would not show me any kind of pictures and that my AppleCare policy that still had almost 2 years remaining on it was now void. I got the computer fixed for $150 versus the 750 but I now I am without the Apple care policy that I paid good money for. I would give zero stars if I could. I will never purchase another Apple product or set foot in another Apple store ever again! read more

I have NEVER experienced such POOR customer service/satisfaction like I did at this location, Deer Park. I bought the iPhone 7 when it first came out, a year ago. I recently did the 11.2 update where my immaculate phone became faulty. It was EXTREMELY slow and would pop up Apple wallet every time I tried opening my messages, concerning right? After being at the apple store for 5+ hours (3pm-8:30pm) I still left with a nonworking iPhone 7. Within the spam of my 5hour day there, I spoke with 3 different senior assistants on the phone and several employees. The manager at the time, Chris, came up to me 0 times throughout the day to ask if he could help or what the problem was. He instead asked someone to ask me at 8:30pm if i was going to pay $299 for the new phone or not? basically telling me to leave the store. The final senior assistant I spoke with called the store manager, Chris, to try and explain my situation: Purchased iphone 7 a year ago. 3months after, screen went black and received a replacement* 9months after, the replacement has issues warranty for a new* iPhone is 1 year I was over by 30 days I never had a new iPhone for a year, i had a replacement for 9months and a new one for 3months Senior assistant wanted to extend the warranty, for customer satisfaction Chris, the store manager at the time, denied the plea. I can't find the rational behind such poor customer service/management at this location. The iPhone was faulty, and I simply wanted to leave with a working iPhone where I can take pictures for tomorrows New Year's eve family party. I truly hope this is taken care of, and no one else experiences the stressful time I did with Apple today. I expected much more from a management team that works for a company like Apple. read more
