One of the best Apple stores I've ever been to!!! The customer service is awesome and the staff is so friendly unlike the Annapolis store where I was made to feel like I was beneath them and not worthy of their attention! When you enter they take your name and information and tell you how long it will be for someone to come assist you and I had no problems whatsoever! They even allowed me to exchange my phone cord that was starting to break unlike the Annapolis store that told me it was my fault it was breaking and they don't do that Which is pretty surprising for DC but I'm very happy with the store and I am going to return if I'm ever in the area! read more

After spending way too much time here for what should have been a simple problem, I think I've finally cracked the code to getting reasonable service: complain a lot. I'm not sure that the "genius" workers are anything more than humanoid robots designed to follow the most simple of boolean instructions similar to the following: "Does this work? Yes? Do this. No? Do that. Repeat ad infinitum" After complaining though, you get to talk to a real, warm-blooded human who presumably stays in the back office for 95% of the day just controlling the robots who run the floor. This person can comprehend simple requests like "I said my logic board is broken so can you fix that instead of changing out my display" and they'll be empathetic and listen as you gently weep telling them about the miserable experience you had with the Genius™ who probably hasn't actually fixed your computer. I think you're getting the picture. The store itself is cool and hip and awesome and rad IN APPEARANCE but if you come in without an explicit agenda of what you're going to buy, you're going to probably have a bad day. read more

Well they said give them 50 mins. Then I came back they said an hr. All to fix my screen. Then they said another hr. Then they said half an hour. Long story longer spent greater half my day in an out of Apple. Why couldn't they message one of my other Apple products when my phone was ready I don't know. But I like people to be considerate of my time. They acted like they did me a favor. But favors are free. Screen replacement 130. For a company launching a new tech watch they out to have a better concept of time and time management Wish there was another product out there. read more

Wow. This Apple Store is an absolute trainwreck. My friend and I came in because the white band on her Apple Watch was getting these weird stains on it from normal use, and because no cleaning strategy was able to remove them. We told the guy at the front, and he said he was gonna send over a technician to get us a new band. Easy enough, right? WRONG. The new guy walks over, and it turns out he's a salesman. He asks us what's wrong, and we explain. The first thing he does is turn to one of their in-house iPads, navigate to Google.com, and search for "How to clean white Apple Watch band." Then he spends 10 minutes reading the results. I kid you not, we're standing there and he's browsing Reddit, trying to figure out the answer to our problem. We ultimately managed to get my friend a new band, but not without being told there was nothing they could do, and then being told we had to wait in line for a walk-in Genius appointment (what?). Then, before we got to the front of the line, the same salesman came back over and said that they're gonna just give us a new band. Oookay, buddy. Unless you're coming here to buy a product that you've already picked out, steer clear of Georgetown - try the Clarendon or Pentagon City store instead. read more

This store single handedly got me into technology. Before setting foot into this magical realm of gadgets, I was prone to using my walk-man & turn dial phone. Don't get me wrong, using pigeons (and the occasional white Dove) to get my messages to others is still fun, but it gets a bit time consuming. I was blown away not only at the extensive amount of trinkets lining the tables & shelves, but what really made my trip so incredible was the down right AMAZING customer service. I felt like a princess with all these smurf-like geniuses catering to my every need. Sidenote: I say smurf-like because of their blue uniforms and sweet smiles. The guys & gals behind the genius bar know what they are doing...I think one of them was drinking a "smart water" I don't know if this is a marketing thing, or just a genius thing. To enhance my brain function, I started drinking this "smart water"...so far, no improvements. Hmph. The staff floating about the store are so friendly and willing to assist. I just might be turning into a full blown techno-gadget-magic-gizmo user, and you know what? I'm okay with it. So thank you apple geeks. Thank you for your smart, smurfy, and sweet ways. As this is the only Apple Store in the District of Columbia, I find myself in this joint more often than I'd like to. In general, it's a completely clusterf*%$. Unless you come in at the precise moment that they open any day of the week, it will be teeming with people. That said, Apple's no check out line system where you can pay with whomever is helping you does make this less intense. My biggest problem here has been the Genius bar staff, who I have seen for Mac and iPhone issues on occasion. As others have indicated, it's a total crap shoot who you get to help you, and I've had people who were knowledgeable, people who I could not believe were allowed to wear a t-shirt bearing the word "Genius", and people who were downright rude or dismissive. (This is neither here nor there, but I also think that you absolutely have to wear thick, black-framed hipster glasses to get a job here. They do not hire anyone with 20/20 vision.) At the end of the day, mixed bag of experiences aside, they will have everything you need for your Mac lifestyle. You just never know what kind of experience you'll have that day. read more

I just received some of the worst customer service...EVER! I placed my iPhone order online and attempted to pick it up quickly before the store closed. I hadn't yet received the pickup email, but hoped that the store staff would be able to provide me with some type of work around since I had already placed the order online. WRONG!!! The response I received from the staff when I came in was that it takes at least an hour for the online store to communicate orders to the Georgetown store and that there was no way to speed up processing of my order. APPARENTLY SEAMLESS AND HARRIS TEETER ARE ABLE TO PROCESS ONLINE ORDERS FASTER THAN A TECHNOLOGY COMPANY. The same excuse was provided to me by three staff members who offered no solutions except that I return to the store tomorrow in the morning. As a working professional with limited time to cross town to visit the store I was irritated that the employees made no effort to help resolve my issue so that I could leave the store with a phone in hand. They shrugged me off and cited the long time it takes for Apple to process online orders for store pickup. I left feeling frustrated and that my business didn't matter to them or to Apple and that the staff could care less whether I ever purchased another Apple product again. Am I a customer Apple wants to retain or does Apple just not care? read more

By far the crappiest Apple Store I've been to. Lines are ridiculous, and appointments have to be made 5 days to a week in advance. They are always fully booked. there is never a "walk in time" to see the the Genius Bar- although they claim that there is such a thing as a "walk-in time". So here's how it works: if you live in the DC area and your iPhone malfunctions, your solution is limited to either (1) buying a new phone or (2) I guess traveling out of town to find another Apple Store. Oh and if you are late to your appointment by 5 mins you are sol. You'll get the sorry "Come back, try tomorrow to walk in" . Wait another 5 days for another appointment. They need (1) new management or (2) more employees. One over packed and unhelpful Apple store for the entire DC area is frustrating. read more

It's sick how much this Apple store makes me want to spend money. It's big, it's super clean and bright and there's plenty of room to play around with products. And I'm not even a super Apple buyer. For example, I have a Mac but I also own a Droid. I only buy when I really like. But I didn't come here to shop, I had to run in here for boss because we needed a wireless keyboard and mouse stat. I was worried it might take a long time, especially with finding parking in G-town. However, once I did find parking and got in, I was greeted the second I walked through the door, they grabbed the mouse and keyboard, checked me out right there next to the shelf and I was out of there in 5 minutes flat. I had an unbelievably fantastic experience here. Oh wait, it's Apple. It's been a year since I made any significant purchase from an Apple Store, so I forgot how they treat customers special, make them feel good about everything, etc. Since this is a brand new store and it's located in the heart of Georgetown, I'm guessing they're trying even harder to do things just right. I have to say, they succeeded with me today. I was having some problems with my iPhone 3GS recently and then today it the ability to use the phone (instead of speaker or bluetooth) disappeared. Not cool. I just happened to have set up my very first ever "Genius Bar" appointment with the new Apple Store app (not bad at all) a couple of days ago to get some help with the phone crashing a couple of times recently, so this bigger problem showing up today was about as perfect as a problem like that can possibly be. I arrived a little early for my 3:30pm appointment. I have a commercial vehicle that I parked directly in front of the store in a loading zone space that was good until 4pm. I checked in and walked around. What an awesome, BIG and beautiful new store! The training area in the back is sun lit, so on sunny a day like today, that space all the way in the back kinda looks like heaven or something. Quite cool. It's a lot wider, and the ceiling is very high. It's just awesome. So, to make a long story about my iPhone really short, they gave me a new one. And done. That's all. I was thinking they might do some kind of maintenance and all the stuff you get with other companies, but I was back in my work truck and driving up Wisconsin Avenue before 4:00pm with a brand new phone and I had everything synced with my contacts, apps and music restored pretty quickly when I got home. At which, they quoted 1 hour for a repair (due to apple's faulty camera hardware). Someone want to bring me dinner?? I called the day before I went in to schedule an appointment at the Genius Bar to fix my slot loading drive. I made an appointment for 11:45 am the next day with no problem. The problems didn't start until I actually showed up for the appointment. I showed up a few minutes early and seated myself at the Genius Bar. It was a weekday, and there were a good number of people in the store, but not too many where all the employees were busy. Some were standing around chatting with each other casually. After sitting there for 15 minutes with not a single person asking me if I needed help or acknowledging my existence, I realized maybe I have to check in with someone first before I could be helped. I walked over to a young man with an iPad that everyone with questions seemed to be gravitating to. I told him I had an appointment at 11:45 and no one had spoken to me yet. He was very polite and asked me for my name. After he found me, he said I was checked in and that someone would help me in a few minutes. 25 minutes of sitting later, not a single person had helped me yet! Some of the employees behind the bar locked eyes with me, but not one said Do you need help? Do you have an appointment? Or even a Hello! I was frusterated and decided it wasn't worth another minute of my time to wait for something that they would probably not be able to fix and would have to pay a ton of money to replace. I can live without burning cds for a while. It would have been one thing if they were busy, but they were more interested in bojangling than helping customers. I was very disappointed since I saw the Georgetown store had high reviews on Yelp and was expecting better service. read more

For Genius Bar appointments expect to wait. There is no respect for the time slots. It is the only apple store in the DC area so expect it to be super crowded and appointment availability is very limited. There is usually a 3 day wait. I came once as a walk in and the wait time was 1h30, and once I was supposed to be next, I received a text saying "sorry, we wont be able to serve you today. Please make an appointment." What can be more frustrating than this? The people who run the genius bar check ins are not very friendly and they don't really care about the customer experience and the wait time. It seems like they run this store as an inefficient government agency. Shame on you Apple. read more

This review is dedicated to Cyrus, the Genius Bar Genius that helped get my iphone fixed. If you have the option or opportunity to pick your Genius, I highly recommend Cyrus. He is very polite and clearly focused on customer service. He explained what he was doing the entire time and didn't once make me feel like and idiot for being there. In fact, my phone battery was not good and my phone was eligible for a free replacement. In fact, by power button was also faulty and eligible for replacement. (Hooray!) All thanks to the Genius Bar, Genius Cyrus! My iPhone 5 is my first Apple product and it has been a long, long time since I walked into an Apple store. While many other stores are overwhelming and I feel seriously not-cool-enough to be there, this location was actually very welcoming. read more

Things seem to be pretty chaotic in this store. I went in to try to get my broken iPhone replaced. The showroom is in the front and the "Genius Bar" (i.e. customer service desk) is in the back. There are two desks against each wall, one for computers and one for mobile, with a waiting area in the middle. There is, I guess, an employee who is supposed to be the gatekeeper for the Genius Bar by checking people in for their "reservations" (appointments) or whatever else. However, due to the general apathy on the part of the gatekeeper and the Genius Bar's open floorplan, there were lots of people simply walking up the Genius Bar trying to ask questions without knowing they had to book a "reservation". There were also a lot of "Geniuses" simply walking around or staring into space or talking to other employees. It was close to Halloween, so maybe they were zombies? Who knows. But they all seemed strangely unapproachable and hungry for lunch. So yes, I'll go with zombies. After walking around aimlessly for a few minutes, I was gestured to the front of the store to go make a "reservation" using "Concierge" -- not an actual concierge, mind you, but just an app on a computer. I am lucky that I own a Mac because I had to do a Spotlight search for this thing. How is a random person supposed to know where this software is located on the computer? Anyway. My reservation was 30 minutes late. I don't know if that's good or bad in the world of customer service. But, for context, I sat in the waiting area eavesdropping on a customer who had to be explained five different ways what a back-up was. So I guess I should give them some credit for not being total a-holes by the time 3 PM rolls around. My appointment lasted less than 2 minutes. I was told by whom I can only assume is a 19 year old GW student that my issue could not be solved because the warranty on my phone expired (I could go into the details, but let's just suffice it to say that Apple Care is kind of a ripoff.) I am going to think twice before coming back to this store. I think I'd rather take the metro to Pentagon City. read more

The worst service I have ever gotten and would not go back there ever again! Called before coming in and asked about help with a small problem with my Mac email setup and wanting to buy a new iPhone 5, I was told to come in and they will be happy to assist. Drove all the way to find out that they would gladly take my money for the new iPhone but can't help me with my problems without an appointment. The store was empty with at least 5 apple employees for every Costomer and the salesgirl, Emily, wouldn't even check about helping me or if anybody was available she just said that I need the schedule an appointment but she would love to take my money. I just left never to return again and frankly I regret buying apple. read more

I came in here on Columbus Day to pick up my new MacBook Pro (a purchase I was anxious about since I'm a student with a very tight budget). My old Mac Pro is a 2013 model and started to become too much of a nuisance to continue using, especially during rigorous academics. I ordered the new Pro and came in to pick it up and was greeted and told where to go- so far so good. I tell the person bringing me the computer that i need help with transferring data from my old laptop to the new and he takes me to the back where someone would help. I sit there for 20 minutes watching the 1 employee in this section try to help about 15 other customers all at once, without a word being spoken to me. After 30 minutes without so much as a glance in my direction from the employee who's supposed to help me, I snag an employee walking by and tell him what's going on. His response: "we actually aren't supposed to help you with transferring things over from your old computer because it can take hours. But if you'd like to continue to wait here, this is just the situation we have back here (referring to the 1 employee covering set up of new devices)." At this point, I'm boiling- had I known that, I would've just picked up my computer and left immediately but no one cared to mention to me I could have this problem fixed over the phone, by any of the 30-ish employees walking around the store. Ridiculous. To be honest, the overall experience- which I was very excited about, was ruined by the horrible customer service. The only reason this review is getting an extra star is because there was 1 kind employee who was able to answer a few of my questions and didn't ignore me or the other person at the table (who had been sitting there for 2 hours). Customer service is horrendous and unorganized. Never coming back to this Apple location. Too much money is spent on Apple products for that kind of disorganization and customer service. read more

I think only one person came over to ask whether I needed help. Service is not great here for all the "geniuses" who work here. That said, they carry the standard Apple products and accessories so if you need help learning your way around their stuff, this would be a good place to start. Staff are all polite and work well with you, however there is a huge disconnect with them an national. Called this morning to see if I can get my laptop today, the National Tech told me to go ahead and get it, store opens at 9. Here at 9:30, security guard tells me to wait outside. Store isn't open until 10. It's cold as hell outside, just snowed, and they making me wait outside. All I have to do is pick up my laptop. Definitely not happy about this. read more

Just awful. Employees are nice enough but it's really frustrating to stand in line to check in for almost 10 minutes and then be told your appointment was cancelled because you were over their 15 minute threshold. This is DC, public transportation isn't great to begin with, and your store is in Georgetown. Poor policy. On top of this, seeing what I believe is 4 floor managers standing around and chatting together when there is a huge line of people waiting and even more waiting for service is just rude. Further, there is no seemingly reasonable triage for service, or any multitasking among Genius Bar employees. Why can't you help someone else while a laptop is running a hardware test? After waiting an hour, even though I had made an appointment, I was finally seen. The woman helping me was very helpful and kind. But avoid this place as much as possible. read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. 1. Sales people had no idea the differences between the different models 2. Made me wait repeatedly 3. SOLD A PHONE THAT DID NOT EVEN WORK AND HAD TO GO BACK TO MAKE IT WORK. 4. Then nothing was actually on the cloud after the Apple employee uploaded everything to the cloud for me - making me lose all my photos, notes, and text messages. Update #2 - I pick up the computer and I can only use one USB port and one Lightning port. Unbelievable. I'm waiting on a return call from the store manager. I imagine the call will not come. Update #3 - I received a call from the store manager and he apologized for the issues. 4.5 stars This store is very spacious with lots of room to play around with their products. I've come here twice for Genius Bar appointments and both times, I've received excellent customer service: professional, friendly, and helpful. The first time, my mouse wasn't clicking and they replaced my entire keyboard for FREE. I only waited 10 minutes and then it was done. The second time, my charger wasn't working and they quickly replaced it in-store with no wait, total was $64. They also ran a free diagnostic to see if there was anything wrong with my computer. They also wiped down the screen and the rest of the computer with a cloth to make it clean and pretty! Wow, thank you! =) As I was walking around the star playing around with stuff, no one tried to push any products on me. This store makes me want to buy all their stuff! I'm a bit of an Apple fanboy, so going to the Apple Store is always a treat. Except, this time, I was going because my iPhone's power button stopped working, so that was a shame. I made a 12:40 appointment at the Genius Bar, schlepped to Georgetown, and arrived at 12:25. I was greeted by the first employee, who sent me to the the 2nd (Genius Bar) employee, who checked me in and had me with a "Genius" within minutes. She confirmed that the button was broken, pushed a few buttons on her iPad, turned around, took out a new phone, and handed it to me. I left within 15 minutes with a brand new, restored phone. Apple is the best, and this store works like a well-oiled machine. read more

I have a suspicion. I believe that not all the people at the "Genius Bar" here are actual geniuses. Instead, many of them seem like they are victims of the DC plague -- they combine southern efficiency with northern charm. One "genius" determined that the monitor I was told was fixed was actually not fixed. After looking at the notes, he took the time to inform me that the repair was successful, but that now the monitor wasn't working again. It's the old joke -- the operation was a success, but the patient died. Understaffed, surly, and unmanaged, this apple store sucks. read more

To be clear: I went in knowing exactly what I wanted. I did my research online and even went to a Best Buy to play around with the display laptops (if you don't qualify for any discounts at Apple, the price is actually cheaper at Best Buy). I came for the 13" MacBook Pro with retina display, 128GB. I was concerned when I showed up four minutes before the store opened (11am on Sundays) to find a small horde of people waiting outside. However, I was relieved to find most of them needed help from the Genius Bar and I was able to go straight to a sales person upon entering. Once I told the man what I wanted (never got his name--that's how quick I was going), he apparently texted someone the order, then walked me over to the cases. I was humoring him to occupy myself while I waited. The 13" selection was very limited, so while I might have been swayed by something just my brand of cuteness, I wasn't splurging for the $50 black Speck cover. The computer came out quickly, he didn't pressure me to buy anything I didn't want, and best of all, I get a $100 teacher discount (students and federal government workers get this too). Parking in Georgetown is abysmal, so you have to know that going in. My husband dropped me off and I was walking out with my computer when he found a spot. To be fair, I was in and out in under 10 minutes. read more

My only complaint about this store is that I can't go in without coming out with something and drool on my face. Apple has reinvented customer service and lines are a thing of the past. I know Apple products generally sale themselves but went in today with plans to purchase the new Apple TV. Amazingly I couldn't find a salesperson willing to help relieve me of my cash. There wasn't a lack blue shirts on the floor but for the first time in an Apple store I was completely ignored. The staff are professional and personable...however they seem to be following a pretty mundane script in terms of figuring out what's wrong with your Mac. To the point where it doesn't seem like they know very much outside of a few tell-tell signs of common issues. They did fix my Mac and gave me a couple tips about maintenance to avoid other common issues they see a lot. My issue seemed simple enough and I would be worried if I had a more complex issue with my Mac how their script would work. read more
