I'm a fairly new customer to Apple. I've been an Android and PC user for more than 20+ years. However, I do currently own an iPhone and MacBook Air. I recently pre-ordered and purchased the AirPod 3 Pro and the Belkin Cleaning Kit. My Belkin Cleaning Kit was ready for pickup (but my AirPod 3 Pro was not available yet since I got it customized), so I went to pick up my cleaning kit. Because I'm not typically an Apple fanboy, I didn't know that yesterday was the release date of the newest model of the iPhone Pro. I got to the store located in Philadelphia, around 5pm or 6pm). There was a line and line dividers with rope, and the store was packed more than usual, due to the new tech launch. One worker (young African American lady in her 30s or 40s, who was an Apple employee with blond and brown long braids and glasses) assisted me in my pickup, and she then asked another worker to pick it up in the back of the store for me. After Tasha's or Taina's (I don't remember her name, to be frank) "assistance", I guess the "A" in "Apple" stands for "A**hole" because Tasha was impatient with me, combative when I asked questions about the other Apple products (IPad Air), unknowledgeable about the Apple products in general (she said a lot of "I don't know, "I don't understand", and "No"), spoke in a passive aggressive tone, kept her sentences curt, and overall, she was disrespectful, condescending and extremely rude. After that interaction, I decided to not buy an IPad Air and I will instead buy a Samsung or Lenovo tablet. I would rather not continue to purchase Apple products that contribute to Tasha's/Taina's salary of being employed there. I have never been so rudely treated by a sales representative, as a paying customer. The nerve and audacity is shocking to me, and it is clear that Apple doesn't want my business. Train your employees better. She needs to go to anger management and customer service training since she clearly lacks manners and feels empowered to passively bully and disrespect me, a paying and polite customer. Last year- I went in for a new battery ( had an appointment) waited 30 mins to get help, They broke my iPhone and then wanted me to buy a new iPhone. I had to fight for 2 days to get a a replacement. Today I tried to buy 2 new Pro iPhones (family). There was no one to help with a purchase, but 3 floor managers to tell people to stand in line. We waited 20 mins and the line didn't move. How about getting friendly knowledgeable sales people rather than gum chomping people who do nothing and throw attitude. read more

Unlike most people; I'm a fan of wired headphones. Today I had to exchange a pair that I recently purchased because they were having mechanical issues. With the help of Kelli; a wonderful employee at the Apple Store I was able to get new headphones with my receipt and be on my way within 5 minutes of walking into the store. Great experience! Dear God! I've been here a handful of times and I don't even know why I bother. Proximity, but I certainly won't bring anything to them anymore. I brought my phone in for a battery replacement. I have Apple Care, so it would be free. They told me to pick the phone up an hour later. When I come back, they told me that the battery can't be replaced because there's water damage. I don't know why; I've never submerged it in water and iPhones are water resistant (some resistance...). Okay, fine. But then they say that they had to take the screen protector off to do the procedure, and asked me if I was told they had to do this beforehand. No, I said; no one told me. I asked them to replace the screen protector because they took it off (and it was now cracked) and didn't notify me. They said they wouldn't. I know screen protectors are not really expensive, but I'm upset that there is such a lack of customer care here. I remember a time when Apple wouldn't blink an eye to take of something like this for free. And the employees: it's like they don't even care. I've never been "in and out" when trying to make a purchase at an Apple store. This location was no different. They work kind of efficiently, but I was waiting for them to grab my phone/check me out, and the rep helping me was working with 3 other customers too. Everybody is chill and willing to help. Half the people posting one star reviews probably think that they are the most significant people in the store and that everybody who is already assisting somebody should stop and cater to them specifically-- and many more are just taking their grievances about corporate policies and/or device problems out on the employees. I'm sure there are some less-than-excellent moments and miscommunications here as there are in any setting where you are working with humans- or any setting as fast-pace and busy as this particular store- but the negative accounts seem dramatic. I've been coming into the store regularly for my MacBooks and iPhone accessories (get the iPhone itself through carrier) over the past 11 years and everybody thus far has been extremely kind and helpful. read more

I upgrade my families phones every two years and I have always done via my carrier. This year my carrier store sales people where such assholes that I took a walk to the Apple store. From the moment I walked in, the customer service was wonderful. Yes, I may have paid a few dollars more but honesty, and respect will save you a lot more money and headaches. This review is for the Apple Vision Pro Demo on launch day, 2-Feb-2024. WOO HOO! AMAZING DEMO! I was the first customer at my local Apple Store to receive an in-person demo today (everyone else was picking up their AVP). The specialist who demonstrated the AVP ("Josh"!!!) was the one who went to Apple HQ to be trained and then come back to train the store folks. He started by telling me how EXCITED he was. Three times! Ooh! I was EXCITED! The training part of the demonstration is very carefully planned and choreographed. Very well done! The specialist has an iPad Mini and can see what you see, and can guide you when you get stuck. I had already had my "aha" moment last January with Oculus Quest 2, so the impact of the fully-immersive videos and examples wasn't as strong as others who will not have yet experienced VR in a way that convinces your brain. The _reality_ which is created by this device is unparalleled. Even the AR passthrough of the store was so real, it actually *didn't* impress me. It was naturally real and responsive, mostly without distraction (see below). MINE: * the lack of clarity at the periphery is palpable and confusing. the trade-off is that what you see front and center is mind-blowingly accurate. * quick head movements reveal The Matrix. gosh, the naked human eye is a marvelous thing!! but it makes me imagine that in time, the tech will solve this problem too. * the OOTB "solo-knit" stretchy-fabric headband is clearly for lying in bed or on the sofa where the weight of the AVP can be on top of or nearly on top of your face. In 2 minutes, it was too heavy and very uncomfortable. I tried adjusting a bit, but I'll probably be looking for after-market headbands. * the cameras' field of view for your hand gestures is quite wide, but the cameras still need to see your fingertips (obviously) * the AR effects are uncanny. the shadow effect on the table by the window suspended above it is next-level. SO REAL. indeed, this is the dawn of a new era. another big step toward The Matrix. * the "focus" effect to show you what the AVP thinks you're looking at isn't different enough from what's around it. maybe i just need to get used to it, but i wish highlighted items were just a very bit larger. * the ambient noise of the Apple Store is so loud, it ruins any chance of having an audio experience to match the visual. I even put my hands over my ears and the speakers, but it was no good. * AirPods Max will NOT fit over the AVP. i feel like the Max should have been kept alive and for it to be an option with AVP. AirPods Pro noise-canceling isn't good enough in an airplane. shucks. * panoramic photos, zoomed-in, become life-changing moments remembered vividly * the spatial video of the birthday party with the cake in front of you places the cake right in front of you. if it's been a while since you've seen convincing 3D content, this is gonna make you reach out and try to touch it. I did. I WISH: * i had been able to try a magic keyboard and mouse with it. * the demo could have let me use my own AirPods Pro, that I could experience the AVP with immersive audio. the store's ambient noise was really loud. NEXT: * i need to immediately make "panorama" my default camera setting. * i can't wait for the library of recognized hand gestures to expand. i can't wait to be able to conduct a symphony orchestra and feel like i'm there, on the podium, doing it. i imagine that entirely new gesture languages will form to replace the old and clunky controllers-with-buttons that have dominated our gaming lives since Magnavox. * i need to find out what hardware and software are needed to capture in the 8K 180-degree Immersive Video format * i can't wait for privacy awareness to evolve to the point that folks sensitive to being captured by video cameras know how to opt-out; so that Apple can open up the cameras to 3rd party devs for the flood of AR use cases. On the fourth of May, I entered the Philadelphia Apple store location because I lost my Apple AirPod charging case and needed to replace it. I still own my earbuds. After opening the front doors, I was mildly greeted by the three women standing in front of one of the desks. Giving them all the information about my situation, and that all I needed to do is purchase a new charging earbud case, all three of these unhelpful women clearly stated, "You need to call the (800) Apple Number and the service team will ship you the case!" This is not what I wanted. I'm looking to wait 5 to seven business days for my product where I can purchase what I need in store. I see no reason why I couldn't just purchase the case at an Apple store of my choosing. So, per their instructions, I left the store aggravated and phoned the Apple service team. What I should have done is ask for a manager and maybe I could have received the help that I needed. However, the man on the phone with Apple asked for my serial number and explained that I could purchase the case over the phone, or any Apple store of my choosing. WOW!!! This 1 star review is in small part of Apple employing these women, with them wasting my precious time having me phone with Apple navigating the annoying robot call for over 30 minutes before speaking to a live human. Not only were these women rude during the greeting, but I did not appreciate their condescending behavior or incorrect information. Typical Philadelphia inner city conduct!! That Tuesday, I entered the Ardmore Apple store and purchased my Apple AirPod case without restriction. The visit took less than 20 minutes and the staff there were nice and accommodating. In conclusion, do yourself a favor and take the extra time to travel to the Ardmore, Cherry Hill, Willow Grove, or Delaware Apple locations. I've personally visited all four locations with the feeling that I was treated fairly, honestly, and with compassion to my situation. However, if you are looking for poor service, confrontation, and misleading information, Philadelphia Apple is where you'll find it! I went to this store during a work trip when my Apple15Plus broke; I'm not from Philadelphia. It was clearly broke: the back was shattered, the phone is curved, and swollen on one side (indicating possible battery issue). I have always had Apple Care on this phone. After two hours of diagnostics, I was informed that they had to send it out to another Apple diagnostics location and would contact me in 5-7 days. I replied that did not seem reasonable since I was on an urgent work trip and was going back home in two days. The other option they provided was to buy another phone, go home and have the Apple Store near my home perform diagnostics and perhaps they would allow me to return the phone. Naturally I pressed and asked about the warranty and insurance that I pay for separately but was given a disingenuous reply about replacing it would not satisfy the terms of the insurance. I could clearly glean through the discussion that they just did not want to replace the phone which was clearly broken (example: running the diagnostic crashed the phone and put the battery % way below the actual charge - indicating that it could not keep any charge whatsoever). They were also rude to me and acted as if I didn't understand the insurance or warranty provisions. I was humiliated and left with no viable options (I have a medical device and an MFA app on the phone and cannot be disabled for 5-7 days). I believe they made their determination and violated the terms of Apple Care on a discretionary basis and the manager should be dismissed; I plan to file a deceptive practices complaint against this store. Beware of this store and their fraudulent operation. Oh, and after the manager and the other employee informed of their nonsensical reasoning, they went to the back and hid there until left - I guess they won, they didn't have to replace my broken phone. read more

Yesterday my cell phone number was stolen at the Walnut Street Apple store in Philadelphia. A store employee had transferred my phone number to someone without verifying that it was me, which is against Verizon's protocol. The store manager did not take my call when I found out what happened and a woman employee hung on me twice. I now have a fraud report from Verizon, Comcast and the police. The police will be investigating as this can lead to additional stolen phone numbers. The crooks took over my accounts and it took hours to block them out and reset my accounts. In-addition they bought two Ipads using my stolen account at the store. The unknown of these type of frauds is the long term access to personal accounts. After the repair, I immediately noticed cosmetic damage on my iPhone's titanium frame -- damage that did not exist before handing it over. When I respectfully voiced my concerns to the staff, including a manager, I was met with dismissiveness, gaslighting, and a complete refusal to take responsibility. They denied the damage occurred under their care and showed zero empathy, despite visible proof. This confrontation -- combined with my worsening anxiety and panic -- led me to faint inside the store. Even after collapsing, no staff offered meaningful assistance or followed up on my well-being. I left the store both physically and emotionally shaken, feeling humiliated, unheard, and deeply disrespected. I am a paying AppleCare+ customer who expected a basic level of respect and care. Instead, I received damaged property, emotional distress, and a refusal of accountability. I've been having some bad juju with Customer Service, especially with the City, and looking at some of the Yelp reviews for Apple Walnut Street was not expecting anything great to happen. But today I came out on top and felt great. I got to the store about 15 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment which I completed online. First good sign was they had an appointment opening today and I didn't have to wait a few days. I was checked in rather quickly and advised to sit at the open table in the front. After an eight minute wait (I timed it) I was seen by my helper who was friendly and bubbly. I'm sorry I did not catch her name because she and most other staff were wearing masks. I gave her the lowdown on my earphones and she said that for Beats they send them out so this is what I was expecting. But upon a check of their system, for a second good thing for me, a pair was actually in the store which she said they usually don't carry. They got the new pair and was going to swap my bad one for the good one. Their computer said it was good to go. Then an evil turn of events...the computer changed its mind and said I had to send out the bad ones for repair. My helper checked with a couple of others including the Manager, and got approval to continue on. Unfortunately, the computer said, "Nope," and we were stuck. I asked if it was possible to do a full exchange since I did have AppleCare. After a new check (of course I was two days past the "official" last day to do this due to the warranty) with the Manager, approval was again given. This time, the computer said, "You may pass," and I received a brand new pair of Beats Pro Wireless Earphones and a new one-year AppleCare starting today. No charge for anything except my time in the god awful heat to get to the store. Thanks to my helpful staffer and Manager making my day a good one. read more

Apple IPhone 13 It's never really a pleasant experience at this store. I went to the store at around 10:30 am on Sunday morning, even though the store opened at 10:00 a guard/staff person told me that the sales staff would be on the floor shortly. (wha??) I waited for another 10 minutes when eventually a salesperson came over to help(?). after another 15 minutes of confused communications I was able to purchase an IPhone. For some reason an additional $30.00 is added to the listed price for set up which I didn't receive. This is supposedly to be subtracted via your carrier - fat chance, and how would that even be possible as Apple collected the $30.00 plus sales tax. Anyway I left with my un-setup phone in the unopened box. After thinking about this for a while I returned to the store and got a somewhat clearer explanation, but still was charged the $30.00. I went to the Xfinity location nearby where they did the set-up. So about 3 hours to purchase and set up a phone. Argh. Most definitely not a pleasant retail shopping experience. read more

I had a few hours in between jobs so I popped in the Apple store on Walnut St to see if there were any classes. Lucky for me there was a photography class called Taking Selfies Worth Sharing. Even better I was the only the participant and Terry was an excellent presenter! Terry focused on my particular phone (an older model) He also gave me some tips on making my phone run better. He was patient and helpful. He also compared newer phones and refurbished models. There was absolutely no sales pressure. This store is spacious and well lit with lots of staff. Sometimes the waits are long if you need very specific assistance with problems. They'll text you when they're ready for you. The classes available are amazing. There was a photo walk happening where an Apple staff member actually takes you on a walk to learn how to take photos! If you're paying lots of money for an iPhone, check out these classes. Eh.. I like the other location better. I made a lunch hour apt to fix my phone (Apple recall issue) but tried to stop in 2 hours earlier and was told they couldn't help me for at least my apt time. I DID explain my issue The other option was a "wait" time of 3 hours. I rescheduled for later in the day. The "tech" was with me for less then 5 minutes and then told me come back in an hour and half to pick it up. No phone call it's ready (I did ask).. . Just come back in 1 1/2 hour. It's frustrating since the tech took my info and had me drop off in less then 5 minutes. So I spent all day coming back and forth for an issue that was NOT my fault. The person checking in should know how to resolve (takes time or a drop off) so people can avoid my situation. I was so not happy. Store has a large variety of products which is fitting for this business/shopping area. The store is VERY busy since is the only store in the area. Will I be back? Do I have a choice? I have an 8 years old MacBook Pro with lots of extra inside. The battery needed to be replaced. I noticed it, that it started to puff up. The store at first offered that they will change the battery for free. A day later they called me and they told that the Mac has liquid damage and they are unable to fix it. They told that if I want they can send it to their headquarters and the repair will cost about $1,300. Thus they suggested to buy a new machine. Instead I took the Mac to a computer repair store. They told that there is no liquid damage. They ordered a new battery and fixed the Mac. Dishonesty and long waits in the store. read more

There are literally employees all over with iPads doing god knows what - but anytime they're approached, they point you to the direction of somewhere else! I am a fan of Apple and have been using their products for a while now. Though the products work great, the retail experience is undoubtedly subpar. I wish their workflow of service requests wasn't so stringently appointment driven - any little thing requires an appointment, so it's always another day that you can actually get any attention to your problem (no same day action!) This location is an extra annoyance since it's in CC but of course parking is a nightmare around the area. I parked a few blocks south and walked over - not a huge deal, but just something else when all you want to do is get going to your task. Inside, it's a nice ambiance - open concept, lots of people (including employees), and the Genius Bar is in the back of the store. It's definitely not a clear cut check in process. There's usually an employee checking people in for their appointments towards the middle of the store. Since there's no signage or directions, if you're a first timer, it's not going to be easy to figure this out. My last experience was just SO long! I had stopped in for a phone battery replacement and I wanted to ask about my watch. Each issue was a separate appointment (annoying), and therefore each issue was assigned to different technicians. There was about a 20 minute wait after checking in before someone came around to start the service. The technician wasn't all that personable and though aware of what he was doing, didn't communicate well on what sort of tests he was performing. In the end, I was able to get a new battery for my phone and figure out my watch issues - but it was a 3 hour ordeal! Line is 20 long and while we were told to order and pay online and stop by to pick up, we have been waiting in a line where people don't have masks and are on top of each other. So we're, my daughter and I walked in the store, to find it busy; no problem with that. We were never greeted once, while 6 associate stand around. We had to literally tag one and ask for help, he had to make an appointment for us. While waiting We watched people who were coming in being greeted and assisted. Extremely poor customer service. I was super impressed with my first Apple Walnut St experience! I made an appt for the Genius Bar via the Apple Store app. I was able to get in the following evening. Upon arrival, I was asked if I needed assistance but I knew where I needed to go. There was someone designated for Genius Bar check ins. I was helped by Chris within 5 min of my appt time. Chris was very knowledgeable and easily helped me with my issue. A diagnostic test was run confirming that I Indeed needed a new battery. I had to leave my phone there for 1.5 hrs but I got a new battery installed for $79 + tax. I noticed how great all the employees were who were interacting w customers. Working at an Apple store at holiday time can't be easy. I was very impressed and was very happy my phone got fixed in store. The store is also pet friendly. read more

Apple store cracked my iPhone!! Yesterday I was in the Apple store on 16th & Walnut street in Philadelphia to have my iPhone XR's microphones and speakers repaired. The only issue was that I could hear people when they called or I called, but they could not hear me at all. I made a 3:15 reservation and arrived at 3, was greeted & escorted to a table by a very polite associate. Not long after a troubleshooter associate introduced himself, (also a nice guy) ran diagnostics on my iPhone at least 4 times. Each time it indicated microphone issues and speaker. The associate fetched a brush and something like a clay cloth and began removing dirt and dust from the wholes/mics on the bottom of the phone and the back. This process was done at least 4 different times by the same Apple associate. The microphone issue was resolved but the speaker continued to fail. He consulted with another Apple associate at the table who took hold & removed my esim card to check for water damage. They both determined no water damage & concluded the phone would need to be sent upstairs for repair of the speaker. In these screenshots you'll see I've signed a work order where it indicates NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE to my iPhone XR after several diagnostics and inspection by 2 different Apple reps. I was told to return at 4:15 and my iPhone would be ready. I returned at 4:16, spoke with another polite associate I believe his name was Kal, informed me my phone was still in triage and had not been touched because now a 3rd person has noticed a crack in the very same place where the previous Apple associate had to look to brush and clean the microphones. I say my phone did not have a crack when it was brought in, the repair tech comes down and says he didn't do anything with the phone because he noticed the crack, yet my iPhone is saying the esim is improperly inserted and this tech whose name i believe is Jared is now saying he still needs to put the screws back in the bottom of my phone so it was a lie when they say they didn't do anything with the phone because Jared noticed a crack. At this point I ask for a manager because I've lied to and my phone has been damaged while in their possession. I was greeted by manager Jeremy Verdone who was very nonchalant about the whole situation and insisted my iPhone was already damaged even after I questioned how 2 previous associates inspected the phone and noted no damage as indicated in the emails I was sent. I understand the store was busy but he basically said I'm not replacing the phone and he turned his back to speak to someone else basically dismissing me. At this point I'm infuriated and realize I'm not going to get anywhere in the store so I left and decided to call. Senior advisor DEMA was very nice and understanding. She called the store to investigate and they stood by their líes is what it came down to . I was provided great service over the phone but the store manager Jeremy Verdone did not live up to Apple's reputation by any means. I'm very disappointed. Now my iPhone XR has no trade in value because they cracked it and it is no longer waterproof because of this. Thanks Apple store . If you take your iPhone in for service at 1607 Walnut st, I would behoove you to throughly inspect your device with the Apple associate so you're not wronged like I was yesterday. Why on earth does Apple still not have lines? I've had to go to an Apple store 3-4 times in my life, and it's always an unnecessarily frustrating experience because i have to stand in the middle of the store and wait for someone to notice me and "check me in" or whatever they do. Can't we just have lines like a normal store? At least then I'd know who's in front of me. Or put a list of who's being helped on a screen? Have people sign in on an I-pad? Apple products are fine, but they're the worst run stores ever (not the people, you're all very helpful, the way the store functions is just maddening). And yes, I always make an appointment, but still have to wait a bit. Even when helped quickly, it's annoying to walk into a store and have to just stand in the middle like a dope. I dropped my laptop and the screen stopped working. I brought it into this Apple store, which was extremely loud and crowded. I waited for an hour and a half to be helped, some of that time was added because an employee was supposed to sign me in but never did. Finally a technician was helping me, but was quite rude to me. I wanted my data saved more than anything, and he said he couldn't do anything for me and that I "clearly didnt care about my data" because I had never backed it up on an external hard drive. I left crying and with my laptop still broken. The repair (which would have wiped my computer) would have been over $400. I ended up going to Wise Guy Computer Repair on South and 4th, and they were kind and helpful and said my data absolutely could be recovered, for about $50. I will never go to Apple again for repairs. read more

I showed up wanting to buy two 32gb iPads. When I arrived, one associate sent me to the express line to be helped where I waited 20 mins and then was told he wouldn't help me and to check in at wait at the iPad bar, so I did that and was told it would be a 20 minute wait, after another 45 I asked again and was sent back to the express lane where the same guy who refused me service suddenly was made available to check me out whereby he promptly informed me they were sold out of every single color of iPad in the model I was looking for. I was expecting a 3 minute transaction and wound up wasting an hour getting a run around and terrible service. Every time I visit an apple store the service sucks and the waits are long, it makes me reluctant to use their products, and I'm a heavy user who has gone through about 25 tablets for various work projects since iPads were introduced. read more

Not my first time at this store which has been great experience to me, until today where there was a queue for new products buyers. I just wanted to buy a charger for my watch but unfortunately the doorman requested unpolitely to take the line. I respect people standing on the line, but I wish Apple could have quick service for people who wanted some accessories to take right away. TL;DR: make appointments, order for pick up in store, take some deep breathes and remember this will be over soon. I'm not sure when Apple started the whole "put your name down and wait" in order to buy a product but it really puts a damper on my experience (which should be great considering the amount of money I'm spending here!). When I went to purchase the Apple Watch series 4 a couple of months ago, I checked the inventory on Apples website and saw they had it in stock. When I arrived and finally managed to track an employee down, I was told they were completely out of stock. I left disappointed and ended up order the watch for in store pick up just a few hours later. My SO wanted to finally upgrade their phone and the whole process took more than an hour, majority of the time spent finding and employee and waiting for our names to be called. I've also had my laptop fixed here and I've noticed that whenever I'm dealing with the Genius Bar here, it's often a much quicker experience than buying a product.
