Mom and I came to eat after she picked me up from the airport. It's our tradition. This time, we chose Applebees. It's been a minute since I ate at an Applebees. It gave me the 'Cheers' vibes. It seemed like it was filled with regulars. Our server, Jet, was very cordial and greeted us with a warm smile every time she returned to our table! We ordered mozarella sticks as an appetizer. I love mozarella sticks and they did not disappoint! They were hot & crunchy. I ordered their oriental salad. It was good! I don't know what those little crunch things are called, but the gave the salad oomph! The dressing was good too. It complemented the sliced almonds, chicken, and lettuce. We are not local but travel to Albuquerque regularly. During one of our trips, we were staying in a nearby hotel and figured we'd "settle" for quick and cheap food at Applebee's after not having eaten it in over a decade. The menu has been revamped so we tried it. We were actually pleasantly surprised by the staff, the food, the drinks, and the affordability. As a result, we've become recent repeat customers at this specific location and only in Albuquerque. We would highly recommend this place to others in search of good food at a reasonable price with employees and management who appear to actually care about delivering a positive guest experience. My roommate and I come here sometimes because there aren't a lot of late night options and the food is uninspired but palatable. The service is lackluster at best but on our last visit it was especially bad. After seating us the servers ignored us for at least half an hour while we attempted to get someone's attention so we could order. Finally my roommate went in search of a manager who (without so much as a token apology) said they would send someone to our table. It was another ten minutes before a server came to take our order (again, without even a token apology). The food was, as usual, aggressively mediocre, and while we'd been planning on paying in cash we ended up using a card on the table mounted tablet rather than spend another half hour trying to flag someone down. Oh my goodness. I ordered dinner for 4 people to pick up through Door Dash. I called to let them know I was here because there is a sign in the parking. Kelly answered the phone and acted like I was an idiot and was extremely snarky for my not knowing that they do not carry it out after 9pm. This is not on the sign at all. When I said I apologize I just followed the sign, she replied "mmhmm" rudely. I asked if my food was ready so I can come in, she was even ruder and said "I don't know I will have to check" I tried to remain friendly and then she said I can go check and hung up on me! We try and try again here because the drinks are well priced and food is generally good. But it has gotten so bad with service that I've been compelled to write a review. I used to love the steak and parmesan, but that also went downhill the last time I had it. And how do you know if it's improved when you never get service? We even always sit in the bar area so we are at least visible. Only 2 of us. After 15 min we get menus from the bartender . I try to order a drink and before I can say anything she says your server will be right with you. Ok whatever. Wait another ten minutes. She washes her glasses, chats at length the with regulars. Not doing anything just having full on conversations. It's not busy. And what's sad is this little older woman eating by herself asked bartender for a water refil twice and some ranch and was left sitting waiting. Nearly done with her food by the time we left and nothing. We left after 25 minutes and no service. Again restaurant was dead. I hope a manager looks at this and cares to make a change; there are plenty of reviews like this one and I really tried to not be another bad one. read more

I'm only posting this as a warning to any other travelers staying near this place. I was at a nearby hotel and wanted some dinner. Since I hadn't been in an Applebee's in years, I thought I'd try this out. I was greeted by a homeless guy sitting near the front door which should have been a sign of things to come. I was greeted and seated right away and then ignored for about 15 minutes before a server finally showed up. I was going to order a rib eye knowing it would be lousy, but hey, I was hungry. I asked about a dinner salad which is customary with this sort of meal, only to be informed that an iceberg lettuce bowl was an additional $5. I couldn't see paying over $30 for a bad steak dinner and decided on the fish and chips with 6 of their acclaimed boneless wings. What was I thinking ordering fish in Albuquerque? I asked the server to not start my fish order until I received the wings as my appetizer. She assured me she would hold off on the fish and chips. Needless to say, all of it arrived at the same time. The fish was mostly stucco style breading and I had to dig out the small portions of fish which was partially still cold from improper cooking. The wings were mostly breading and I only got through 2 of those little nuggets. The fries and cole slaw were okay and pretty much made up what I consumed. When the waitress showed back up to drop the bill and asked me if I wanted a togo carton, I calmly explained that the food was atrocious and not fit for a feral cat. She scurried off and returned with my bill. No "I'm sorry", no manager, nothing. This place is clean looking and somewhat vibrant looking, but has no more reason serving food than an Ace Hardware. The server was pathetic. I'm hoping she was new and not simply that dumb. Either way this is an establishment that should be avoided if you want something decent to eat. Not great, but decent, an impossible task for this Applebee's. I wish I had just bought a large soda and a bag of Cheetos at the mini-mart down the street. I have done a lot of order and pick in order to keep the distance. I have ordered from this location and it was okay. The main issue is that they were less than careful packing the food which resulted in plates being mixed together or leaking out of the containers. The staff is not the friendliest of staff I have interacted. read more

This applebee's has been my saving grace. I'm living in a hotel not too far from this location. And days when I don't want to cook, they have some pretty appetizing meals on the go. I ordered fried mozzarella cheese and a blue Hawaiian drink. Next time, I think I'll either get one of their margaritas or long island iced teas instead because I didn't think their blue Hawaiian was strong enough (which could've been specific to this location though). The only other issue I had was that there was an rancid smell at the bar that only seem to get worse the longer I started here. All in all, a safe bet on a Sunday evening. read more

Screwed up one salad, wings, one of our entrees, never brought back the right wings, took 90 minutes to get the beer we ordered. We cancelled 1/2 our order. Came in tonight to meet a cousin who happened to be passing thru Albuquerque. I ordered a Cajun Chicken, shrimp and mashed potatoes dish. What I got was less than than the photo on the menu. The chicken, shrimp with mushrooms and onions were very delicious. However, the photo led me to believe the mashed potatoes were skins on and seasoned. Not the case. A different waiter brings the appetizer and we eat them and sit and wait on our rude waitress to return from her break or wherever she is before getting our food order in. Had a golf outing with co-workers and our party of 9 stopped in to grab a bite to eat here. We were seated immediately and our server came over and took our order. They have a pick 3 menu and most of us ordered from it. For one in our party, they missed her salad order completely. I ordered the boneless wings appetizer which clearly had celery pictured (which is the norm) with the wings. The wings came out without the celery so I asked the server what happened. She stated that you have to request them. Ok how do I know that if you don't ask? So we were halfway through our meal and they tell one person in our party that the meal he ordered they no longer have. So he had to order something else. We had to ask for water and it just seemed like the server had a complete attitude. Absolutely one of the worse jobs. I only gave 2 stars because at least the food was descent. Me and my family came here for my moms birthday and I will never return to another Applebee's. The service was absolutely horrible, we had to wait 10+ minutes for refills on drinks. The food was mediocre, pictures made all the food look better then it did when it came out. Ordered the 4 cheese pasta and there was no cheese on it at all and the sauce was runny. My husband is retired military, he asked for a military discount and they took off $1 from our bill. When it came time to pay the bill the waiter hovered over us watching how much of tip was going to be left. Very unprofessional. read more

Applebee's is an average institution and this location is particular middling. The décor lacks any semblance of authenticity or originality; you walk in the door and this could be any Applebee's, anywhere. I came here late last night with my friends after the Snoop Dogg concert to get food and drinks. The drinks listed on the table Rolodex initially seemed affordable, until we learned that the $2 mugs of beer were 10 oz. glasses, and that the $1 house margaritas were essentially shots of sour mix. Not much going on in the drinks department here. We ordered some appetizers to take advantage of the late night 2 for 1 deals. The sampler plate was on the small side, given its price, but the dip was well received. The pretzels were a highlight, served with a tasty cheese sauce and tastier honey mustard sauce. The chicken quesadilla was small, so small as to almost disappear, with none of the contents that a New Mexican would expect. The nachos were similar neutered, neither traditional nor particularly exciting. So the food and drinks weren't great, and we chose not to pay the $1.99 for access to the games on our table's tablet. Still, our waitress Jennifer was terrific. She clearly had a lot of work to do but still ensured that we received great service. At least one of those three stars is just for her. read more
