We were having a "craving pie" moment so opted for Village Inn. Ordered a cherry pie which was awesome I must add. We also tried a carrot cake slice & had ordered the seasonal strawberry banana pie but instead were given banana cream pie. The banana cream was very good but didn't alleviate the disappointment of not getting what was ordered. The carrot cake was ok but the others were another level. I had driven 11 hours to get to Albuquerque. I had only eaten a breakfast sandwich and an apple all day, so I was super hungry. I had actually planned on going to one place, but they were closed, as were my 2nd and 3rd choices. I knew Village Inn would be open. Super pleasant server. She was energetic and had a great smile. I saw a club sandwich on the menu. I saw that you could get a side of a cup of soup instead of fries. I asked if I could get a cup of the green chile, meaning the soup. She said absolutely! Did you still want a side with your sandwich? No, just the green chile and sandwich is fine. She came out with a side of chopped green chile and the sandwich. Total misunderstanding. I didn't even ask her to fix the mistake because I was so hungry and I miss not having green chile in California. Sandwich plus chopped green chile is a winner! This has been one of our favorite village inn in town. Food is always fresh when you order. The service is always fast to descent and they get your exact order. You can build your own breakfast for an affordable Price. The restaurant is clean and disinfected after customers leave so it makes you feel like have high practices of hygiene. I went for the first time ever today. It was jam-packed! I was shocked and excited to see, assuming it would be amazing due to every seat being taken. I'm not sure if they were out of flavor today? Or just gave up from being slammed. I did the inn special where you pick 4 items. Ordered the 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 3 small buttermilk pancakes and chicken tenders. I will admit the bacon was the best part of the meal. Followed by the eggs. The chicken tenders were small and definitely old since the actual meat inside the breading was dry. The gravy was delicious though. But the pancakes. I don't understand how you can screw up pancakes but honestly, it had no flavor! At all. And I hate putting syrup on mine normally but I had to today because it was so dry and dull. Definitely would not recommend the pancakes. Others at my table agreed that the bacon and eggs were good, but the "bread" items were not. Also tried the French toast (a big "nope" from my aunt), and the Belgium waffles were delivered cold. I've always been a fan Village Inn, however, tonight I went for dinner and everything was quite bad. My waitress spent the entire time I was there flirting with another staff member who was on break. After bringing my food, she did not check on me one time. The food was ok, but I ordered sunny side eggs, and got over easy with one yoke almost fried hard. I didn't get any butter with my toast, and of course the waitress was busy flirting across the restaurant. I tracked down another server, and he was quite helpful, personable, and he's the one who should have gotten the tip!! The manager did ask how the food is in passing, but otherwise he also sat across the restaurant sort of out of sight. Overall I was quite disappointed with every aspect of my dinner tonight, and not sure if I'll return for a repeat! Village Inn has really gone down hill in so many ways over the years! read more

I'm shocked the stars on this restaurant are so low, because it was excellent! I haven't been to a Village Inn since the 90s, and this one was really nice. It looks newly renovated and super clean and modern. There were a very nice man and woman (that I think were managers)greeting people at the door and managing the flow of incoming traffic. Our server was very overwhelmed and we had long waits for beverages, food, and the check but you can't beat free pie! Especially on 3/14! I love the VIB option because it lets us build our own breakfast combo for a great price! I eat Keto while the husband likes to balance sweet, savory, and whole grains so we love mixing and matching. It is such a great deal! The coffee is great too. Plus they drop off an entire carafe of it at the table so you don't have to wait for refills and can drink as much as you want. Also - you can get your free pie to go on free pie Wednesday's! The free pie options are the pie of the day or the fruit pies. I had ordered a tomato juice and had to remind the server about the juice. She never came back to the table. My husband and I used to LOVE going to the Village Inn, Everything used to be prepared so nicely and it was delicious. We'll never go back again after our recent visit. I ordered a patty melt with onion rings. The patty melt came burnt so black it was inedible. When I sent it back for another, the second patty melt came back just as burnt.I spoke with the manager who said the cook was in a 'hurry' and he told him to slow down. There were two other people in the restaurant and they looked like they might have been homeless. The patty melt had no cheese on it, and no onions to speak of. It tasted awful. They comped the patty melt, but the manager made all kinds of excuses for the bad cook --- he'd been therefor ONE year so he SHOULD have known how to cook. The onion rings were made with very old onions, so they were stringy and tough instead of moist and crispy. My husband had ordered an omelet that came 'mediocre.' We'll never go back to this dump again. One of the servers had a deep cough that sounded like covid. The manager didn't give a rip that our meal stank. We would have been SO much better just going thru the BK drive thru. EXTREMELY disappointed - based on this experience we will NEVER go back. Yuk. Steer clear of this place. Took about 30 minutes to get drinks. Another 30 minutes to get our order taken and almost an hour for our food to come out. When the food arrived the crepes were cold and hard. In fact it seems as though the waiter was far more focused on a table where someone they knew sat at and completely ignored us. Do not recommend. They closed the wrong Location. I will never go back to that location. They lady manager is the worst customer service manager I've seen in years. If she has a disagreement with one of the customers she talks about to other customers loud enough for all of the customers around her to hear. Then when I asked her why she had to come talk to other customers about our conversation, she said in a very snide way well that's the way I do things in my rulebook. She's simply the best. She's attentive, she's speedy, and she takes great care of my family when we come in. Location is okay, usually clean and nice. Food is okay. Not amazing but it's always pretty tasty. Just don't have high expectations on that. But if you're looking for a nice family restaurant, come in the morning, Friday's, and ask for Edie. I received a coupon in the mail 10 years ago for a pretty good deal, I can't remember if it was a BOGO or a % off the whole check, I think it was 25% off the whole check. But the coupon did it's job and brought me into the restaurant. My wife and I went on a Wednesday and when we arrived, we showed the server the coupon. We ordered and had an okay breakfast for dinner. When we got to the register to pay, we were told that we could not use the coupon because it was Wednesday, which is free pie day and that is the only discount they recognized on that day. We pointed out that the coupon did not have that exception in the fine print and the server did not tell us that our coupon would not work. They said no, would we like to have pie? I said that is worthless to a diabetic and a spouse that supported a diabetic diet, why would we want pie? I came in because of the coupon! When I complained, the cashier and the manager were rude. I have not set foot in a Village Inn for 10 years since. Obviously they didn't realize the impact of one bad visit or they simply didn't care. My mother has suggested Village Inn for family meals several times, and I have vetoed it every time. I am still thinking about it 10 years later and I think about it many times as I drive past the restaurant, which is quite frequently. The memory reinforces itself and it is a thing I can't explain. I wish I could get past it. My first job was as a dishwasher. Later I was a busboy. I worked as a waiter during high school and college; maybe that is why I can't let it go. I typically tip more than I should for average service and food. I usually tip 20% on the bill before any discount. For good service, I am super-generous and tip even more. Often, when there is bad service, I only tip 10%, which is the norm for my parents. So if I stop going to a restaurant completely, it is really rare. I drove past it yesterday after having an enjoyable meal at Black Angus next door and discovered that I am still annoyed enough 10 years later to write this review. I just had a meal for 2 in which we both had steaks expertly prepared and we upgraded our sides, coffee for 2 and dessert for 2 that cost just about $22 with decent service and good food...so I left an $8 tip. What a difference! By the way, the lot sucks and has speed bumps every few feet: completely unnecessary and obnoxious. So it makes me slow down on my way to other things in the shopping center that I go to pretty often... and every time I hit a bump, it gives me a little extra time to curse Village Inn silently to myself. read more

My family has frequented the VI Wyoming at Menaul location for at least 20+ years. From the days when it was family-owned, then corporate-owned, and now back to the family-owned business it is today (the family of the original owners as I understand it; The Bronson family I think is the name?) We experienced the nicest servers and managers who served us through the years (Rod, Frank, etc., and others.) It is so nice to have the family owners back as the service and hospitality defiantly show. During the COVID pandemic, we supported VI as much as possible as it is our gathering place. You see some old-time customers frequent quite often and we have never had a bad experience. I went through a 307 lb to 225 lb weight loss through a combination of weight watchers and VI chef salads. I've seen great cooks such as Robert Lindsey (God rest Robert's soul as Robert passed away a few years ago) and his Brother, Dan. Robert used to make the pies, and there used to be a Friday night Lasagna dinner that Robert (his family recipe) that Robert was allowed to serve during Friday Fish night. I went to high school with the Lindsey family, and I think most of the kids worked for VI at one time or another. So, it's safe to say, VI is a second home to my family. VI has gone through changes, all for the better, and I will continue to patronize VI until I am unable to get out of the house. read more

This is the worst restaurant we have experienced! I have waited 45 minutes with no service! I asked the manager on duty to help, and he did nothing; then berated me for complaining! My suggestion is not to go there! By the way, I spoke to upper management, but the bad behavior continues by the staff and management! Good food, we came for dessert though. We ordered the blossom and strawberry crepes. They had a rubber-like texture, but very tasty. The place wasn't that packed, maybe about 6 tables including me and my family. We had a server named Emily, who was slacking off slightly. We were sitting at a table close to the kitchen and could clearly see their food window where they put the food up under the warmers. My sister had ordered the strawberry crepes which they still had to make. They put the crepes up on the line and we were watching it for over 15 minutes before Emily grabs it and comes running over "I'm coming I'm coming! Don't worry. They just put the crepes up on the window" After 15 minutes of watching the crepes just sit up there, she has the courage to lie to my family telling us they just got done.
