I have not once had a positive experience here. Here are 3 separate examples over a 3 year period: 1. Ordered to-go inside the restaurant. The bartender sent me to a side door so that I can place my order with a carside-to-go server. The server didn't know the menu and started to charge me for dinner items when I specifically ordered from the lunch menu. In the middle of her taking my order, she took a phone call which lasted over 10 minutes while I just stood there and waited. I finally placed my order and went to the bar to wait. At this point, I could have really used a drink but the bartender, who had no customers, never once asked me if I wanted anything. 2. Carside to go: Ordered 2 things: steak done medium and chicken parm. They said 15 minutes. I got there 20 minutes later. I sat there for an additional 20 minutes sitting at the parking only to come home to find that BOTH items were wrong. They packed a steak pasta and grilled chicken. 3. Dined inside: My boyfriend ordered jim beam and ginger ale. It came in a small glass that looked like a shotglass and the color was near-clear like vodka and tonic. There was no liquor, and hardly any ginger ale. It was more like water and ice with golden food coloring. We ordered the appetizer sampler which had mozarella sticks and spinach artichoke dip. Mozarella sticks tasted like it had been fried 3 hours ago and the spinach artichoke dip tasted like it had been sitting on the stove for 3 hours as well. Needless to say, this restaurant isn't good for carry out, carside to go, or for dining in. Avoid it. read more

This place is solid! I've been here a couple times, usually with a LARGE group (20+). Even then, the servers are pretty attentive and it doesn't take too long to get our orders in or get our food. Applebee's generally has good food. The menu has very good values (especially the 2 for $20/$25 deals). The neighborhood-- that's what I think when I walk into this well-established bar and grill. The patrons and staff were receptive and warm, offering a simple "hello" and a comforting glance deep into my eyeballs. I like to order everything from chicken tenders to the bourbon street steak. All the food is great. Never a bad dish! The beer is always cold and bubbly, just how mammy likes it. I recommend the house favorite-- bud light. Put a dash of salt on the rim (and the napkin if you don't want it to stick to the napkin) and you've got yourself a taste of heaven. My cats will eat the leftovers and they go wild for riblets. This is usually a pretty good indicator of meat quality (the better the meat, the more my cats pupils get big and all excited-like). I dinged 1 star off of a perfect rating because I aspirated a jalepeno from the nachos and it burned more than you can imagine. My least favorite part about eating here was the indifferent "smoking section." I don't think there really was a place in this restaurant that you weren't able to smell smoke. Solid Applebee's. Nice People. Since this is Michigan they always have one or two solid beers on tap (if you're not in the mood for Bud/Coors). As to food, you know what to expect when you walk into an Applebee's and they deliver. The staff here is very friendly (at least in my opinion. I haven't ate at an Applebee's in years so I was looking forward to the food. The Hostess was sitting down watching TV when we entered. She greeted our group of four warmly and sat us quickly. We decided to order their Queso Dip & Cheese and when it was brought to our table it looked great. The Chips were warm and the Queso was hot! When we were almost finished though, there were many crumbs on the bottom of the plate and my friend said she thought she found a hair. I took the chip from her and inspected it and indeed there was a hair in the queso part of her chip. We told the waiter and he took the plate from our table and the manager took it off our bill. The Manager, shirt not tucked in or buttoned, later came to our table to apologize. The waiter was courteous while taking our orders. I ordered the Blackened Chicken Broccoli Pasta Alfredo Bowl. When my food arrived it looked great, you could still see the heat coming from the pasta and chicken. The pasta tasted great and left me wanting more when I was finished, while the blackened chicken tasted a bit dry. The Hair in the Appetizer and the dressed down Manager affected their score. Food Contamination, Food Appearance, Employee Uniform affect their score greatly. read more

He didn't even bring out our apps, another server did because it took him 20 mins to take a tables order. Two tables walked out on him because he didn't take their drink orders. We didn't get our breadsticks with our meals for another 20 mins, plus he hasn't checked on us yet. Had to tell the HOST that we were ready for our boxes. And she brought us our dessert. Today was my boyfriends birthday he mentioned how much he used to love Applebees as a kid so I decided to take him for dinner. As a first time going for myself, it was the worst dining experience. I want to start off and preface that the restaurant was not busy AT ALL. First, we wait several minutes to be greeted and sat which is fine just not quality service coming from a person who has worked and has been raised in the industry. We sit at our table for 20 minutes before being greeted by our waitress. 20 minutes later we get our appetizer, but still have not been brought our waters we ordered. About another 20 minutes go by before we get our meals. I take one bite of my meal and could barely swallow it. Something in my boyfriends burger tasted rotten. Neither meal was fresh and I would have rather sat on a hot grill then take another bite. We both decided it was time to leave. After not seeing our server since our appetizer was brought, we go find someone else to ring us up in which we are not even asked how our experience or meal was. Even though, we both only took ONE bite out of each of our meals. It was the biggest waste of 50.00 as a college student and we will not be returning. If you want to have a mediocre experience with an unpleasant meal, Applebees is the place for you! read more

We were here for a conference and decided to go to Applebee's because it was late and the food / experience is usually consistent. Bad move. Between the apathetic hostess that seated us in a nearly empty restaurant to the terrible waitress, it was a disaster. We asked for water, she never brought it. We ordered two appetizers, she brought them and then asked if we needed plates. I asked for drink refills (beer and mixed cocktail on special) and it was never brought until I reminded her. Then, it was only the mixed drink. Which is fine since our first round came out in mugs straight out of the dishwasher, they were so hot. Which isn't what you want when you're drinking beer. I am sorry but I tell myself I will never go back but I try this place once a year and think, it's gotta get better right? Wrong, never go to this place when it first opens. Nobody waits on you, the place is empty, the food takes forever and the only thing really decent is there salads. I suggest they do not even open if they are not ready for customers. At this location the last 4 times they were not ready for customers and that was their lunch crowd on a Sunday 20 minutes after they open. Kinda like Walmart of restaurants, ok if your starving, not enough help, and the ones that are there are not happy. I will never try and see if it's gotten better. I never used to be a huge fan of Applebee's, but they've improved their menu substantially over the years. I particularly like their section that specifies a meal is 550 calories or less. I mean, as much as I love to go out to eat, I also like to have the option of choosing something that is not soaked in butter and cooked in grease and oil once and a while. My dad and I stopped here the other day for a quick meal while he was driving through town. We both ended up getting the Asiago Peppercorn Steak with herb potatoes. It was absolutely delicious AND was on the lower calories menu! For dessert, I decided to get the chocolate mousse shooter. Call me crazy, but it was one of the best desserts I've had in a while. And it's so simple. All in all, one of the best meals I've had lately. The service was average, no complaints. One thing I like about this location is that it almost feels as though it is actually on campus. The majority of the clientele is students and their families, and the servers are probably mostly students as well. Even though I've just graduated, I still feel most at home in places filled with college students. We were running errands on the SW side of town and had no idea where to eat for dinner. The place has very mixed reviews (normally a bad thing), but we had a gift card so we decided to try it anyway. We are SO glad that we did! The parking lot was full on a Monday evening, which surprised us. Turns out the burgers are $6.99 after 4pm on Mondays. Score! We were seated and our server immediately showed up to offer drinks and appetizers. We would definitely request our server, Chris, again by name. He was high energy, which isn't perfect for everyone, but he was fast and friendly and we enjoyed him. We checked in through Yelp and got a free appetizer, which wasn't limited to a certain price. The pretzel bites were great. When he took our order for the appetizer, he also asked if we wanted to order our daughter's food then so it would be ready ASAP. That was so thoughtful, and ended up being a lifesaver! All of the food was fast and delicious. Burgers were awesome (hubby had the brunch burger and I had the cowboy), and the fries were hot and well seasoned. My daughter enjoyed her corn dog and fries more than she usually does at a restaurant. He brought drink refills before we needed them, and he even gave us a full soda in a to-go cup as we were paying the check, plus an extra milk for my toddler. Rarely do we get free refills for her (juice or milk), but it said they were free right on the kids menu. It's a little thing, but really great considering sometimes a cup of milk is the only way to keep her calm and let us eat. :) While we were there, an older couple was celebrating their anniversary. They obviously knew Chris well and come here often. They were also chatting with another man who sounded like a regular. As they got ready to leave they asked for their bill. Chris told them that the restaurant picked up their dinner and the other man had paid for their food (he had already left). They were so appreciative and they hugged Chris and chatted with the manager on their way out. You rarely see this kind of thing anymore, and especially not at a large chain restaurant. As she verified our free appetizer on our phone, the manager was very friendly and said she appreciated our business and hoped we'd be back. Another nice touch. Our server was nice and the food was pretty good. We just wanted to grab a quick and easy sit down, relaxing meal before going home and watching movies. It last Sunday night with maybe 3 -5 tables and 2 guys hanging at the bar. I would have rated our trip to Eisenhower Applebee's a lot better however, after eating our meals and getting some snack apps to go, we were refused milkshakes. When the server asked the bartender he was visibly angry and argued with her about making it. The reason we were told we could not have milkshakes was because the bartender just cleaned his blenders and milkshake making tools because he was getting cut from his shift (keep in mind it's 9pm, the place doesn't close for hours and there is no time limit on the menu for milkshakes) Then we were told even if he didn't already clean it up, the ice cream was in a deep freezer and was too hard. I think we would have been less irritated if we were just told the truth: Our patronage does not matter to the bartender and he would rather laugh loudly with his two friends and lean on the bar than make us milkshakes that the server gets the tip for and he doesn't. We were obviously annoyed but didn't put up a fuss, just said ok and asked for our bills. We tipped the server rather well as we always do, because it is not her fault that the bartender is lazy and rude. I blame management who should be more attentive to these things and who should not allow their employees to treat their businesses and patrons as a money machine. We are debating whether we would just rather patron another restaurant in the future. I think I'd rather spend a little more and go to outback. Spend your money at places that don't take it then tell you to beat it. It's on principle your money should be buying you at the very least what you order. The extra experience of good service and customer appreciation is why we pay more than say a Coney Island or McDonald's . And we tip those people who provide these services. In no way do I owe you my patronage , and on top of that my continued patronage is earned. So I think the debate is over. We will drive another half mile down the road and won't look back next Sunday night as we head over to outback. read more

Overall I thought the place was super clean. Like I cannot stress how clean this place was. The waitresses' name was Cornell and she also seemed to be very hygienic, telling us that she washed hands right before she gave us our drinks. Now that's what I call customer service! I got some of the Classic Meatloaf and I've got to say, it put some hair on my chest. It was spicy but still tender and it was like giving my palate one of those massages where a tiny Asian woman walks across it. Overall I love this place. Absolutely the best Applebees I've been to. This is my 2nd time in weeks and at different times. Had Steak both and they were both cooked to perfection and juicy and tasty and good and the presentation looks just like the picture! (when does that happen?..UMM Never..lol) strongly suggest honey peppered steak I think its called and potatoes. The steak was awesome the potatoes were awesome times too there was a ninja and jalapenos that were not spicy but really mild good I've been too many restaurants I don't eat at home I eat out everyday and this is the last two good meals I've had in a long time.
