We were concerned because it was lunch time and there weren't many people here. Apparently, they have new management for about a year. That being said, we were sat a table immediately. The waitress was also fast and friendly. I had a 6 oz steak with broccoli and fried. The steak was cooked perfectly, the broccoli was good. The fries were a little old, but the waitress quickly replaced them with freshly cooked fries. My wife had the grilled chicken, broccoli, and mashed potatoes. Her only issue was she wanted a little more butter for her potatoes. We were disappointed in the lack of diet beverages. They only have Diet Pepsi. I would be happy to see one or two more options. Dirty restaurant. We were seated in a sticky booth covered in flies. We literally swatted them away through our entire visit. Kids Mac n cheese was dry and burnt, my son didn't touch it. Plates the food was served on were covered in smudges and fingerprints on them. One upside was the service. Our service was fast and the server, Tyla, was pleasant, attentive and helpful. Well another week end is upon us so here we go to Opelika nest auburn university. My heart goes out to the auburn tigers as my money and my daughter attended university there. I am proud to say she obtained a PhD in microbiology (so she is OHD pretty hot Doctor). Anyway stopped here after a golf day at 1699. Boy was it hit and humid 60%. Some of our experience wasn't the greatest. But without any expectation the manager on duty (Stacy) went above and beyond to make my ending experience a very pleasant one. I gave this Applebee's one star because there isn't a zero. Long story short, the MANAGER sat us in a section where no server was working where we were completely ignored. We were passed at least ten times by servers, etc. in the fifteen minutes we sat there and not once did anyone acknowledge us, much less get us a drink and try to find something out. If I had to go to a family chain restaurant for the rest of my life, I would go to Applebee's. Each restaurant has their own happy hour specials all are conveniently timed that actually aligns with most schedules. However, it does make me sad that they display their nutrition facts. Unless if you're eating broccoli for dinner or grilled seafood with no dressing, every entree runs into the thousands. The 2 for $24 combo consisted of the spinach artichoke dip, ribs and fries, and the shrimp combo platter. My favorite item was the blackened shrimp over the almond rice pilaf with the herb & ale scampi sauce. It sounds fancy but essentially, it's seasoned shrimp mixed with limey goo over rice. The spinach and the pepper relish on the sides were a nice addition. Fries are always good here. The spinach artichoke dip was creamy but there is never enough to go around. read more

On my last visit, I was disappointed. The server wait staff was great. , but the food & cooking has gone downhill, In my opinion. I ordered the small rib let platter. And a salad. The ribs were ok, but not enough meat for the price. Very skimpy & not of good quality. The honey bbq sauce was not good at all to me. It did not taste like honey bbq at all. Fries were too hard, & thin, as if they had come out of a prebought bag. No taste much. The sweet tea was the best thing about the entire meal. Great sweet tea! The salad was enough, but had been cut so that you got mostly spine of the lettuce rather than the good part. I removed most of it because I don't eat the spines of lettuce. They are not tasty. I asked for a gluten free menu. They have it listed on the regular menu. But staff have not been adequately trained as to what gluten free is. Seem to have no idea of it being on the menu. Had to ask management about it before they explained it to me. Then management explained that although it says GS (gluten free) it may not be guaranteed, only gluten sensitive. Which was good for management to tell a GF customer. I thank them for that. But to me, it seemed that even management doesn't really understand or ic concerned about a gluten issue customer. I asked for no croutons on my salad. They brought it with croutons anyway, which they said, " just take them off." Brought me the incorrect salad dressing from the one I ordered. Felt like a lack of concern for their customer to me. It was an all around disappointment meal. They have changed their menus again, food choices are not appealing as they once were. The fajita plate has vanished. The baby back ribs have taken over the Riblet basket ones, and are skimpy & unappetizing. And mostly bone. I used to go to this Applebees by the mall all the time. They were great then. But in my opinion, they have slipped downward a lot. In their menu as well as in management/ customer concern. Celiac disease is a real concern. It is NOT just gluten sensitive or an allergy. It is a life sentence. I respect the management making customers aware of the danger of eating their gluten free menu items. That is a good thing. But I feel that they may do this just as a way to get themselves off the hook, not for any real concern for a gluten free customer. I realize that the public restaurants businesses do not understand & do not train staff much about a GF MENU. Nor are new staff trained or instructed about how to prepare or serve it correctly. But they should be. I'll go to Outback from now on. They appreciate & understand a gluten free menu preparation. They listen & care for their GF CUSTOMERS. Many other food service businesses in this town do as well. I won't be returning to this Applebees for a long time. The food just wasn't that good. For me. Thank you, my waitress. I can't remember her name, but she deserves a raise. She was an excellent server & her love & concern for her customers was evident. I was once a waitress myself. I feel qualified to say that. A restaurants biggest successful patronage comes because of the impression a customer gets first from the wait staff, then from the server, and the quality, tastefulness, and preparation of the correct order. Management is responsible for all those working together to give the customers a great meal in an atmosphere of genuine concern, joy & appreciation for each customer who walks through their doors. This is the main way restaurants thrive. Because the customer feels wanted, welcomed, and appreciated with the best food service & preparation management can provide on their financial budget. A large chain like Applebees should be able to provide that for its customers. Many other people in our area have noticed the fall of the food quality, atmosphere, and customer concern here in the years since the pandemic. Read your reviews & see that. Thank you for the meal , & especially for that great waitress server. But I won't be returning for a long time. I'll pay more attention & give more credit to the reviews next time before I come. Our server never came and they threw us on another waiter which they kept double and triple seating him. He has good recommendations especially when we were about to order some cheap liquor, he was quick to tell us we don't want that. An up sell for him but for us a better liquor. Went here after taking an overwhelmingly long final exam. What I don't get is how this is 2011 and Applebee's still doesn't have a single vegetarian entree. Really guys? It's not that hard. Even chile's has a black bean burger or something. We came here at like 3 or 4 in the afternoon on a Saturday, and the place was definitely not busy. Which is why I don't understand why the service was so incredibly slow and terrible. Seriously. There wasn't a single server on the floor for like 15 minutes at one point. We had to search for someone for 5 minutes to ask for tortilla chips. Since there were no vegetarian entrees, my friend and I split 3 appetizers - the mozzarella sticks, queso, and spinach dip. The mozzarella sticks were good. The spinach dip was scalding hot, but mediocre. The queso was lukewarm, so we had to send it back and ask them to reheat it. Talk about inconsistent. And considering all this stuff were things they had to have pre-prepared, I don't get why it wasn't all hot. I will say, the frou frou lemon drop martini that I ordered was good and strong, and the place was clean. But those are the only reasons why this place gets 2 stars. read more

I visited this place last night,, it took them 20 mins to seat us which was fine, we took our seats and my kids ordered the strawberry and yogurt ,, it took 35-40 mins for my daughter to receive a small cup of what she ordered,, the service is horrible ,, I ordered boneless wings and waited 30 mins never received them so I just paid for what I had and left,, apple bees have really went down ,, if they don't pull it together surely they will be together with the one in Lagrange which is closed down. After we were sat took another 10 minutes to get our water because "they were out of pop completely". We ordered an appetizer and it was probably the most bland food I've ever tasted.
