I admit that I honestly quit coming to Applebees due to horrendous service and quality. To the point I chose McDonalds over them. However after baseball tonight my family opted to stop by due to needing a common place to meet and watch baseball that didn't have a long wait. We canceled our order and walked out because employees at the bar were loudly talking about disgusting stuff. I won't go into detail about their conversation, but it made us lose our appetite. So the main courses were average. Nothing special but average. Appetizers were not the best. Cold and thrown together. Service is not good here. To start off our waitress came to the table and we ask how she was. Her response was" I'm here". Super negative. It seemed like we were an inconvenience for her. I asked for a Manhattan and was told that that can not be made, without even asking the bartender. Wanted to get a round of shots but she never took down the order. She was upset that we did not order right away. A lot of sighs and just bothered we were there. We wanted to look at the menu first, which is pretty complex . We all ordered an entree. When the food came, she handed each of us super hot dishes and just left. After that we were ghosted until we piled the dishes at the end of the table. I go here maybe once every two weeks to sit at the bar, get a bite to eat and watch their TVs (not many other places to go around here) The service is slow, but they do let you know they will be with you as soon as they finish their conversations or phone calls. About two weeks ago, the bartender was speaking pretty loudly about her issues at home, not appropriate while dealing with customers. Nice girl, just needs to go focus on work while working. Last week, the bartender had just returned from the beach and was unhappy about her shift and saying she also has a bad knee which she can't take off because the insurance stinks. She proceeded to talk about how slow and boring it was to me and two other customers. I personally like a positive time while I am there and I'm sure most would. Not the best food in the area. My steak was cooked properly; however, was very dry & bland. The green beans were not seasoned. The mashed potatoes were not bad. The service was fine. Applebees used to be one of my favorite "chain" type restaurants, but the last 4 I have visited were all below average. read more

They brought out another one for him and it still wasn't cooked like he wanted but we where pressed for time so he ate it. They where super nice about it and didn't charge him for his meal. I'm not normally a fan of chain restaurants, but was with a group, and didn't want to be the naysayer. Our group got seated promptly, and our server was fantastic. Drinks were kept filled, and she was attentive without being annoying. I ordered the All-Day Brunch burger, and it would have been amazing, except, I specifically asked for ketchup on the side (It's advertised on the burger), and the server confirmed - On the side (I wanted it for my fries). The burger had ketchup on it. Small detail, but I was not happy about ketchup with the egg on the burger. Then, I had also ordered their 4 cheese Macaroni and cheese. She brought out a bowl of M&C from a grocery store box, not the one that was on the menu. I mentioned that it wasn't the right item, she came back a minute later with the right one. I hate to give any establishment a 1 star but this place deserves it. Bartender poured a draft beer and noticed the glass had dirt around the rim, instead of getting a new glass she wiped the rim with a towel and half the towel is now in the beer. She then just topped it of. We had ordered the Mac n cheese with chicken. The pasta was ice cold and the chicken was burnt. The bottom of the plate looked like a oil spill. I felt sick after eating here. This is such a prime spot between numerous hotels and they probably figure that most customers are only in town for a night and won't return anyways. Dined at Applebee's in Charles Town, WV last night and was very disappointed. Cody, the server, was good and the Mgr tried. I had ordered a sirloin steak, medium rare. I got it medium well. I mentioned it to the server and he took it and said he'd get me another. 35 minutes later he brought me a medium steak. By this time my GF and her son were done with their meals. So we just left. I gave 2 stars because Cody was good and the Mgr, at least, tried. I'd give the "cooks" negative 5 stars. They have no idea how to cook steaks. My husband and I came in for a quick bite before dinner before heading to the track. We were rather quickly. That was the only thing quick during our visit. We had to ask the server twice for drinks. Then he took our order and sAid we should have our salads in about 5 minutes. 15 minutes later we had to flag him down and ask for our salads. When he brought them, he didn't have any utensils and we had to ask for that. When he brought those, he brought only one napkin. We finally got our entree after we had been here for 50 minutes. My baked potato was cold and the steak was warm. Still waiting on the check. Can't wait to see how they "take care" of my complaint. Took the meals off my bill. Food is irrelevant when reviewing restaurant chains because once you've been to one, you've been to 'em all. What makes the difference is the service and atmosphere and this location receives a great rating from me. Football fan wise-I bleed purple while my friend is a Steelers fan (no accounting for taste, I know). So, with last Sunday being the first time of the season where Steelers & Ravens both had games at 1pm, it was imperative that we both had the ability to watch our respective football games. We walked in and the gates of football game heaven opened up. The bar had FIVE flat screens surrounding the bar perimeter AND a big projector screen in the middle of the bar section. Score and DOUBLE Score! I tried to work my charm on Lisa the bartendress to see if we could switch the Ravens game to the big screen but unfortunately the store manager was a Skins fan so that game got projector and sound system priority. No biggie. Customer service was excellent. Lisa was engaging and when I sent my dish back due to slightly translucent shrimp, a pleasant elderly lady with a beehive doo came out to apologize and asked if everything was okay with the redo. I assumed she was the grill master because I saw her bringing out all the skillet dishes. When our next trip to Hollywood casino falls on a Saturday into football Sunday, we plan to come back here to watch all the games at this sports bar like Applebee's. Good service and a friendly laid back easy atmosphere. The menu is pretty easy to follow and there's nothing especially bold or complicated about this place, typical bar food or quick bite style dining American influenced with a few healthier options. The 2 for 20 is a great deal and otherwise the prices are really reasonable. Don't order a steak, this is not outback and you will be disappointed stick with a burger or chicken tenders and fries and a beer and you'll be full and happy when you leave. read more

Always had good experiences dining indoors, so am very disappointed in carry out. On the last order the person taking the call was more interested in pushing extras than actually listening to my order, which was only for 2 steak dinners that came with 2 sides, both the same. The bartender was very hospitible when my wife and I first sat down at the bar. Other conversations around us including the music decibels were on the high end. My wife and I were having a great conversation about a topic when the bartender approached us, stated we were being too loud, that we were arguing and needed to keep it down or leave. This confrontation completely shocked us and we asked bar members around us if we were being too loud and they said,"no way, no problem". We were sitting "under a speaker". Honestly one of the worst experiences at a restaurant I have ever had. We waited almost an hour to get our first drinks, or for anyone to even speak to us past getting our menus. Then, we were told that we could not have anymore than 3 alcoholic beverages because the manager "did not feel comfortable" giving us anymore. I don't generally eat at chain restaurants but my grandmother likes Applebee's and I wanted to make her happy. When we got there, the seating was cramped, the lighting was poor... There was no atmosphere. The staff seemed polite, though. I decided to order a margarita to enhance what I expected to be a meager experience. I'd just gotten my license renewed and they print you a paper copy until your new license comes in the mail. The server asked for my ID and then said she couldn't accept it because it was paper. I'd used my ID to buy wine at Martin's... The server got a manager. He was very polite and said I'd need the plastic expired ID to be able to get a drink... So you can take an expired ID but not a valid DMV issued paper ID?? Apparently they have a corporate policy. I very snobbily said that I couldn't believe that Applebee's has more stringent restrictions than a grocery store or even the police. Ah well, no margarita. Once we'd finally ordered, everything took forever. The server was nice but she kept disappearing. She forgot a couple of things and the food was gross. I ordered nachos because I didn't want one of their entrees. The portion was good but they were cold and cheap tasting, on par with concession stand food. My grandmother's shrimp was gross, the french fries there are gross. It took forever to get out of there! They also make you slide your own card at the table with some shoddy device... I don't really trust the device security of a place that doesn't recognize valid DMV IDs. At least now I know to never eat at Applebee's again, ever. Sorry, grandma. read more

Came here tonight after debating here or the IHOP next door, place wasn't that busy around 9pm, ordered the sirlon with garlc shrimp, my dad got an appetizer since they were half off, 2 regular drinks.. we were surprised the bill came back at $33 and wondered when Applebee's got so pricey. We could see why the apps were half off because I don't think people would pay $24 for an app. Other than that the food was average chain-style food, the service was fair, this Applebee's is much better than there Martinsburg location. They also have fairly late hours which is great for night owls like myself, and they also have a few menu items which list the calories for anyone watching there waistline. read more
