So this place stood out to my family and so we thought we'd give it a try. The reviews I read was giving me the vibes of go for their burgers. My wife got the patty melt and I got the double smash. Her burger was cooked rare, which I absolutely love my burgers still mooing. So we switched. Our friend got the ramen and we couldn't get over how it was served. All in all, the food was decent. I'm not sure how long this place has been there but I had recently heard about it so decided to try it on a Saturday afternoon. I'll be honest - 3 stars is probably a bit generous. We walked in and there only 4 or 5 people in there. 2 of the people were obvious friends of the bartender and they sat chatting, loudly, while we waited to be acknowledged. We finally got served and ordered the appetizer sampler. The fries seemed old and the old bay seasoning was almost non-existent. The mozzarella sticks were fine. The shrimp was good and the chicken was delicious. A couple of us ordered bottled beer which wasn't very cold. The bathrooms were unisex and not super clean. Mixed reviews on Yelp but why? Staff is uber friendly, bar area is so cool with their stone counter top and mega large TVs and food and drinks are pretty great! There's limited parking in this small strip mall. Local Cut is located on the end of the mall. They have a few dedicated spots. Upon walking into the place we were immediately taken aback at the bar area. We found a seat and asked about the happy hours(4-6p). Domestic beers $2, house wines $4 and rails $4. I opted to try a couple of their cocktails ($10-$12). Drinks were pretty tasty and strong. The mojito was my favorite and seemed to be a fave amongst the regulars. We sampled the appetizer sampler platter. This tray of fried goodies pulled it out of the park! Each morsel was delicious and crispness was a treat. I chose the scallop dinner that came with 4 super large scallops and a cauliflower mash. The scallops might have been a tad well done since I do like my scallops just a bit lighter. Staff was awesome. They gave us a tip on their weekend brunch that starts at 8:00am. The brunch menu is not online but a sneak peek revealed some tasty options. My friend and I were seated promptly. Noah, our server, made several great recommendations. He was attentive and sweet. I had a brown sugar espresso martini which was - my first martini - and very tasty. For my entree, I had steak frites which came out very rare as I requested. The chimichurri on the steak and fries was good. The squash side was tasty as well. My companion had the patty melt with fries. She enjoyed the sandwich and I'll admit to a bit of burger envy watching her eat it. I think I know what I'll get next time... My one issue was they only have a single dessert. This small pub/ restaurant has the friendliest staff and delicious food. As first timers to a restaurant we do like to sample everything. As luck would have it, they had a sampler appetizer platter. The Korean bites(chicken), mozzarella sticks, old bay French fries and dynamite shrimp. This $15 sampler was so delicious. Everything was made to order. After a huge starter, I could eat a full meal. I ordered the local cut salad, basic greens and a few veggies. They offered to make it a wedge for no charge. It was a generous portion with onion straws and bacon. Staff was great. I like this place but the inside is kind of cold feeling. It just doesn't give me that feeling of warm and inviting from a bar area. Also, the parking situation is not ideal. I ordered a pasta entree with shrimp and chicken this evening via carryout. As soon as my husband walked through the door, I smelled a fishy odor. The visual wasn't much better. Past their prime fetid shrimp were cooked into hard, round balls. The chicken was substituted with striated meat chunks ranging from dark brown to yellow to fifty shades of gray. Sadly, I was so hungry that I pushed aside the meat in hopes of salvaging a few bites of pasta. Unfortunately, that turned out to be one bite that tasted as if prepared in a hot dumpster behind a fish market. I think this is a decent place! They made the most of their small space and it is comfortable seating area. They made a nice bar area. If you have to wait for a seat there is limited standing room indoors. They have a good kids menu and provide crayons and an activity sheet. Our waitress was nice and did her job well. The menu had good options but our food was just ok. I did really like their regular fries and onion rings. Those tasted fresh and crispy! The other food needed something else, maybe more seasoning. For dinner, we both ordered steak frites. It came with cilantro rice and a delicious chimichurri. The garlic parm fries were thin and crisp and so delicious. The steak was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and was portion was huge for only $19! Like any good dining neighbor , I looked over at another's guests plate. He was a regular there and that night he ordered the Chicken Sandwich. It was big enough to be a knife and fork sandwich because of its more than ample size. He informed me he asked for it to be tossed in their Nashville sauce. He said it was perfect and so good. The fellow diner had just gotten back from Nashville recently and had tried their Nashville hot chicken while there. He informed us he preferred the Local Cut over what he tried in the motherland of the Nashville Hot Chicken Sammy - That's quite a compliment! When you order the chicken sandwich you, can have it tossed in any of the wing flavors they offer. Dessert time ! We shared a piece of red velvet cake and it was so good. It had a lovely, tart raspberry / berry sauce and the icing was not overly sweet, which is what we were hoping for. Can we talk drinks for a moment? Maddy's margarita is a winner. With fresh lime juice, pickle juice and jalapeño infused vodka, and a tajin rim, I had to have more than one...and maybe more than 2. My husband had a beer - they have a full beer and wine list and a really creative cocktail list. We sat at the bar and it was comfortable and inviting. The restaurant offers bar seating at tables as well as the bar seats. They have a separate dining area with plenty of booths (don't we all want booths?). They were incredibly busy when we were there, which is a telltale sign of success. Although they were busy, the service was spot on and we didn't have an extended wait for our drinks or food. Right now, they are the new restaurant in town, but they are operating like a well oiled machine. The owners and management have years of experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry, and it definitely shows. It appears they fixed the parking but all the seats that look at the toilets are still there and since those are mostly the booths for two that's where they tried to seat us, until I asked to be seated somewhere else, which they did accommodate. My main gripe is with the tuna melt. It was loaded with albacore and it was delicious but it does not come with cheese. Come on! It's a MELT! what melts if there's no cheese? And they charged me two extra dollars to have cheese on it! The fries it were not fresh and had been sitting in the back. Also you shouldn't have to ask for salt and pepper at your table. My girl got the teriyaki chicken, which was a great portion and was pretty decent although a little salty. Dang this place is rough these days. This is really unfortunate because The Local Cut was so good when it first opened. Maybe they are trying to cut costs or something but the food quality blows now. We haven't been in a while so we got takeout the other day and everything we ordered was overcooked. Even the chop house salad was lackluster and just not as good as it once was. On top of that, the scallop risotto smelled like rotten seafood. I cannot believe they served food in that state, they had to have smelled it when it was cooking and plating it. I went to Local Cut with my brother for his birthday. It's a fairly new place in Purcellville so I wanted to check it out. For the longest time if you wanted something other than frozen-to-fried bar food the only choice was BBQ or Magnolia. I'm glad we went! Local Cut has the feel of a contemporary American restaurant inside. Don't be fooled by the tiny strip mall it's in! Parking definitely sucks but they have a complementary valet which is handy. We sat at the bar which has a decent enough selection of drafts and a good cocktail menu. Comfy seats too. Both bartenders were attentive without being over-present which I always appreciate. Our food came out quickly and correctly paced, our entrees came out about 10 minutes after our wings. The food was great! We started with teriyaki wings which was my brother's choice... I wanted the Korean fried chicken bites because I was intrigued by the gochujang sauce but it was my brother's birthday so we went with teriyaki wings. They were very good! Sweet and savory sauce. They were fried then grilled which gave them a little smoky flavor that was nice. I had steak frites. The steak was perfectly cooked and the chimichurri sauce was very flavorful. Served with garlic Parmesan fries and cilantro rice. I also really enjoyed the dipping oil which was slightly garlicky and set off the chimichurri nicely. My brother had the prime rib sandwich which he utterly destroyed! He finished before I was halfway done! I really liked this place. NEVER again. Tried it for the first time today. Will stick with...well, anywhere else. Waited 15 minutes to be asked for my drink order (mind you, I was ALONE). Was asked WHICH kind of my drink I wanted...said I was aware of only one. "Oh, that's right; I was thinking of something else a couple of us were discussing." In another 10 minutes I had to ask about my drink order again (ONE drink, not 10 drinks...it comes in a bottle, how hard can it be?); was told they were "busy with on-line orders". I did not check the other side of the partition or the bar. I was told I look nice today. WTH? I watched other people put their empty glasses to the side, waiting for refills. At least they had water. I was not offered water. Server came back and said it would be a few more minutes. I said to bring me the bill and box the order. I was told a few more minutes, they were stating my order. At this point, I asked, "Did you not understand my instructions?" One of our go-to spots in Purcellville when we are looking for dinner out. It has a wide variety of options from soup to poke to burgers to pasta, etc. Hard to bring people here who can't find something they would enjoy. I am writing this after having been here a half a dozen times and gotten consistently good food and service each time...that being said we always sit in the bar area. HH specials are a good deal. We've visited two times now, about a year apart. The food is generally good, but the ambiance and service could use some work. All of the super tiny 2 seater booths are next to the bathrooms, which is not ideal. Understand you have to maximize the small space but it's not good. The booths for two are also too small. We ordered an app which we never got because even though she wrote it down, she didn't enter it. Ok. Not a huge deal but did make sure we weren't charged. My husband had a burger and he enjoyed it even though it did appear to be a frozen patty. I just had my first experience at The Local Cut and I was very impressed. I don't normally leave reviews but I feel that this new restaurant made the cut! The cucumber gin & tonic was so good I had to order 2. The pork belly tostadas were good enough on their own to keep me coming back. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Food was good! They were out of scallops and fish dishes at 5:30 pm on a Valentine's Day. Service was excellent from Host, servers and waiter. Was nice to see team work. Extremely friendly and helpful. Vibe was for perhaps a younger group but just about 50-60% of us were older folks of 50 and older. Doesn't matter .
