NEVER GOING BACK....... Showed up at 9pm, so I get it's later in the night. AC is broken. Fine. I accepted that it would be warm on this 104 degree day. After a long while Waitress took our drink orders. Then we sat there and watched a young gal get seated next to us. She took her order first. Ok? She eventually came back and took our order. We eventually got our drinks 20 mins later. Turns out the girl next to us either works there or is a friend or something, cause right after she took our order the gals food came out. Keep in mind we ordered chips and salsa as an appetizer. 30 mins later I canceled the appetizer order because why bother after 30 mins? Sooo, meanwhile, we are sitting there hot and hungry, no appetizer, and homie is enjoying her food and has pretty much completed her meal after two different employees sit to chat with her (including our waitress). Some of it bitching about fellow employees and some of it bitching about customers. 50 mins later the food finally comes out. No offer for refills by the way at any point while we sit there roasting. I had to go to the bar to get my son's drink refilled. Never got asked if we needed anything. They set the plates down and my shrimp is raw except on the very tail ends where it's burnt. I immediately ask for a to go box because I'm done. I've lost my appetite and I'm just angry. This was the absolute worst service I have ever received in Chico. My shrimp was raw, my husband says his steak was bland and flavorless. I'm glad I preserved my one glass of tea through that entire hour of waiting for our food because apparently that was all I was going to get. I want to call the manager to tell him how awful this experience was, but there's no point, as there's nothing that can be done to rectify this situation. I'm never going back. No more chances. The last few times we have gone has not been good and this is the last straw. Goodbye forever Applebee's. Don't go there. Save your money. read more

Should have known the second we walked in, they seated us in a booth and under the table was dirty napkins and crayons clearly they have not cleaned well. I let that go. We came in for desserts. The waiter came over and he was extremely rude. I asked for my drink to be in a to go cup 20 minutes later he arrives and my drink is in a glass. Let that go as well. asked him for a straw he must've forgotten because he never came back to the table to even take our order. I asked the young lady who sat us down for a straw. She sent the waiter back over. He came to the table. We ordered our desserts halfway through our order. He says I'll be right back. Didn't come back for at least 20 minutes. He was walking past our table and I said can we finish our order now he said yes I will be back in just a moment, make a long story short took over two hours for two desserts, extremely disappointed in the service! We are currently at the Applebees location in Chico and I wanted to share this with anyone and everyone who is planning on coming here. DO NOT BOTHER! The first problem was that we both got the 4 Cheese Mac and Cheese and we both got nothing but raw bacon in it. The second problem is that I asked for a refill from an inattentive waiter and he came up and replaced the straw in front of me and just stuck it in my cup, his fingers almost touching the beverage. That's disgusting. The third problem is that there are 2 waitresses standing around gossiping when the tables are extremely sticky. Will never go to the Chico Applebee's ever again! They don't have a secure parking lot, we had our bicycle stolen from our pickup in their parking lot in broad daylight. We are an elderly couple (ages 66 and 67). When we asked about their security cameras, they said they didn't have any on the south side of their building, only in their back parking lot. Unbelievable! So, if you have anything you don't want stolen, make sure you ask if their cameras are on and where they are located. Also, they weren't too interested in helping us, just ended the call with 'hope you have a nice evening,' did they not hear me or understand, we just had our bike stolen????? Don't really want to give it 1 Star, but won't let me submit without selecting a star. read more

I've had lunch here often while visiting the fine city/town of Chico California. The staff has always been super welcoming and friendly. The wait isn't too long usually, the food is good and they give you a lot for the money. I would recommend this chain restaurant if you're in Chico for a quick bite. read more

I have not been to Applebee's in 20 years but I had a hankering for Ribs and somehow thought I would go there for them. It was a mistake. The place is a bit dated inside but an ok atmosphere. The waitress was nice and it was not very busy in there. I ordered a half rack of baby back ribs and broccoli with criss cut fries. It took about 45 min to get my food. I don't mind if it takes a while because mostly that means it has been freshly cooked. But man the dish I got was horrible. The only thing eatable was the Broccoli that was cooked just right. The ribs had pretty much ( I am not exaggerating) no meat on them. Just bones with a bunch of extremely sugary sweet baked on BBQ sauce. The few scraps of meat on the bones were so crunchy and tough I felt like a dog on a street getting fed some leftover scraps from a hole in the wall no good joint in the middle of nowhere. The bill with the tip was $35.00 wow...what a disappointment. I guess now I remember why I have not gone back in 20 years. That dish alone should disqualify this place as a restaurant. I feel sorry for the staff having to serve this slop with a smile. Somebody there is making a huge mistake by not hiring a real chef. read more

I hate giving bad reviews but this place is just not good compared to most other places chico has to offer. The kids food was made really crappy and the queso and chips appetizer was served cold. We went in for a "happy dinner" after receiving some distressing and bad family news. We needed some light fun, food and a moment to escape from the nastiness. We asked for a happy table, and got a wonderful waitress, as well as the manager. Our meal was delicious, the service was great and as promised it was a happy table. We shared our bad news with the manager, and thanked her for giving us such a nice and caring server. After our dessert, we were told our bill was handled ... and they all gave us hugs. I cried then, because if strangers can be so kind, why do some family members need to be so bad. Thank you Applebee's of Chico for a truly wonderful end to an evening filled with sadness. Really not that impressive. The staff is hit and miss. Some of the staff is friendly, but most seem like they could care less and your presence is bothersome. Others dining there with me have picked up on that vibe as well. Seems like a typical low wage/high turnover environment. I often get food to go from this Applebee's and several times I have either received something other than what I ordered, or some of what I ordered was not even given to me. I typically order the same thing and it is prepared differently every time. I used to enjoy their wings but they changed something about them and they are no longer even edible. Most portions are small for the money charged. Closes at 10 PM Sunday through Thursday??? It really is too bad that this Applebee's is so sucky. I've been to many Applebee's that are more than acceptable. My suggestion is to tear down this Applebee's and put in a TGIFridays. read more

I love Applebee's. I honestly think that the food is mostly good, and I enjoy going there. This particular location, however, has some issues. It's mostly the service. My husband and I go there about once every few months, and are always sad about how much we get ignored. Sometimes a creepy manager will come by and ask if everything is okay, but he is usually so busy that I don't think he would even register if we said anything back to him. I have had my drinks "comp"ed a few times because of all the complaints I have given. I'd say, skip this place and if you are really desperate for Applebee's, just go to Oroville (*cringe*). read more
