My family and I can to this location because the plaza Bonita location was full. It was not that full and the associate said it would only be 20min and it took 45min to get a table. We decided to go to the regular table instead of the happy hour since it was not busy. Later they had a table for the happy hour so we went there. We made our order. It took 25-35min to get our appetizer. Than we waited about 25-3in for our entre. Our server never asked if he need a refill or anything. When another serve asked if we were okay. That was when our serve asked if we needed anything. Plaza Bonita and La Mesa gave us time to think and notified us if the food is going to take long. This is the worst Applebee's I had ever eaten at they were understaffed and unorganized. Was not greeted by any one when we walked in had to wait for some one to notice us to be seated. After waiting for 15 min a waiter finally asked us for our drink order with out letting us know any deals they had or that it was happy hour we ordered our drink with appetizer and waited another 15 min for them to bring our drink and appetizer. We asked the waitress for utensils which she responded " ummm ugh wait a min ". Then waited another 5 min for her to bring that to us and ask for our food order. Went on a busy Sunday night. Waited awhile for our food. I had the sirloin 8oz with sides. The steak was over cooked and had one spot with just a pile of black pepper. The mashed potatoes were great and so were the green beans. The worst part was the ladies room. There was toilet paper all over the floor and what looked like a puddle of pee that I stepped into. Spoke to the manager about it and after 10 minutes nothing was done. An elderly lady went in and complained saying she thought she was at a gas station restroom. Ordered food through GrubHub and didn't receive everything ordered. Called the restaurant and talked to manager about the problem and he blamed the driver of GrubHub. I tried to explain that the driver only delivers the food, the staff are the ones who pack the bags and should make sure the items are in the bags! He still was insistent that it was GrubHubs drivers fault even after explaining it numerous times that the driver was at fault. I guess some people shouldn't be in the restaurant business when you blame others for your staffs mistakes. Sure the driver should check the bag but when it comes to the items placed in the to go bag in the first place it's the restaurants responsibility. Will not go here again or order food, when accept the mistake as your own doing then corrections can be made to improve. Otherwise this place doesn't give a sh#+! read more

It was my sons 4th birthday and I've never had such a bad experience at any of your applebees restaurants. We went on a Tuesday afternoon and it was pretty dead (plenty of open tables). Our waitress Denise only came to get our order really and to bring our food/drinks. That part was ok. The horrible part was how she never came back to refill our water/sodas or even bothered to ask if we needed anything else. Since we couldn't get her to come to our table we pressed the call server button on our tablet thing finally she comes and says "what do you want" I've never been more appalled in my life, but I chose to ignore it & I told her it was my sons bday and If they could sing happy birthday to him & she hesitated and said she had to ask a manager... why? We've been plenty of times and always hear them sing happy bday to other people. I also had a coupon for a free dessert for my birthday and I asked her if I could get the chocolate cake with the ice cream and she insisted it was the brownie thing with ice cream but not once did she offer to bring me a menu to see what dessert I wanted. To say I was dissatisfied is to say the least. My son was looking forward to going out to eat at his favorite restaurant yet this experience left such a foul taste in my mouth that I don't think we'll be going back! read more

I'm giving this place 3 stars because we had a really bad server named Melissa .She was really rude,when we would try to tell her what we needed,(extra plates )etc for our appetizers ,she would turn her back and not let us finish and would leave us talking .After she took our order she came back to our table and introduced us to a new waiter named Anthony we were all so HAPPY she was leaving .She did us a BIG favor leaving .We all got our food except my sons girlfriend we asked Anthony about her food and He said that there was mixed up and offered her a free soup or salad for the wait.It wasnt his fault his co worker wasnt doing her job right . This place just sucks honestly if you come here more than once you will find they mess up your order almost every time. Tonight I ordered bone in wings extra blue cheese not rocket science but I got boneless wings and super small cup of blue cheese. They brand me my drink put on table and left before I could even ask for a straw so I waited another 10 minutes before I could get a freaking straw. Then I ordered a second drink through their app on the table well the food came we ate and were ready for the check before the second drink ever came. Keep in mind the place was literally half empty we came at 8pm at night. I didn't bother to ask for the maser because last time I did they try and offer you a free meal or give you the one you had for free I'm not trying to get a free meal I want good service and good food neither were had tonight. I made a decision tonight that this was the last time I would come here they can't seem to figure it out. We watched a couple get up and leave because they couldn't place there order. We waited for over 15 to get our order in and remember only half full. After saying all this know that I did tip and did not ask for a manager to get anything free I just want anyone else who might be considering to come here to be aware of what you will most likely get. A waitress saw us several times and never acknowledge us or said " someone will be right with you. NOTHIng!! A few minutes went by and what seemed to be the MOD/ bartender came out of the back and did not acknowledge us either. I felt un welcomed and poor cx service. There is a monthlong special in October for $1 margaritas. Together with the 2 for $20 meal deal, me and the Mrs. decided to splurge on a cheap date night together. The restaurant staff was super friendly and there was a continuous line of waiting patrons (probably because of the special) up until 10 pm. I can tell the restaurant is trying really hard to boost the quality of their product. The Bourbon Street chicken and shrimp was really quite tasty, and the margaritas were really not bad at all. They use pepper grinders at each table, which spits out fresh pepper with a few twists of the knob. What's cool is the wireless ordering device that they place on each table, which actually works really well. The only negative I could find was the blue cheese dressing was pretty tasteless, so you're better off getting the ranch dressing with the boneless wings appetizer(it comes with 10 pieces of boneless wings). I'm sure we'll be back again before the month is over. read more

First time and last time. It was about 2:30 pm on Father's Day. I took my 12 year old son to this restaurant for dinner thinking that it was new and the service must be good. Was I wrong! The place was not as crowded as I thought. We picked this restaurant because the Chinese buffet (Buffet House) on Palomar St. was completely packed. Our first server was Brandi. After she took our order, she disappeared. There were no napkins or silverware on the table. I had to ask my son to go to the receptionist at the door to get some napkins. She managed to get us 3 napkins from the bar. OK, no big deal. We waited, waited and waited. Almost 40 minutes later, this server named Ferni came to our table and told us that our server had been changed to him. All the time, Ferni had been running back and forth to serve the table next to ours, and he never uttered a word that he was now our server. When the food finally came, my "cedar salmon dinner" was like less than half plate full. It was not even enough for a 5 year old. Anyway, later I brought it up and Ferni told me it was a "weight watcher" item. What a joke! I never saw the words "weight watcher" written anywhere and the dish cost $13.99. In the Chinese buffet, your total cost is $10.00 and you can eat all the salmon you want and it tastes better. Here we spent twice as much with bad service and not enough food to eat. Ferni did apologize and I did tip him more than 10% of the total bill. Will not return again. read more

First time eating dinner w/friends and family, came to celebrate a birthday. Total of 23 guests kiddos and adults, all the servers were real attentive, put together lots of tables and chairs to sit. All of us wanted separate tabs, so they started taking orders by groups witch made it easier. But by the time to hand out plates it was not great. Some servers did not know who's it belong to. We had to ask who's it was, come on know, look at the orders people, same w/the soft drinks. Food was great, I can't complain. This was my second visit to this location. I must say it was worse than the 1st visit. Once i walk in i was greeted by some friendly hosts that help me with my seating. Then it was a downhill experience from that point. I waited almost a good 10 minutes to have the waiter - Ricardo show up to take my order for drinks. Waited another 10 minutes to bring the drinks. Again almost another 10 to come back and take my order for food. I ordered the wonton tacos for an appetizer and the quesadilla burger. I received my burger and no appetizer. After that , the waiter had not stop by once. Furthermore in about 20 min or so. Ricardo stops by and asks if i was ready for the check ? I replied back " Yes Please " I just wanted to be done with Applebees already. He then brings back the check with the Wonton tacos on the bill in which i never received. I then ask to speak with a manager. Summer comes to speak with me , I then basically tell her my concern and complaint i have . Without any hesitation she quickly just tells me " all i can do is take away the appetizer cost of $4 " and thats it . She did not bother to apologize or give me the impression that she actually cared as a REAL MANAGER SHOULD. Summer was bothered by me having an issue or complaint as if i was wasting her time. She made me feel rushed with my issue. If Summer the Manager doesn't care about her customers ? then why would any of the other employees should ? Its common sense this location in my opinion NEEDS NEW MANAGEMENT. I promise to never return to this location again , even if i do still live 2 miles away. read more

This is our go to Applebee's just down the street from home, monthly visits are our norm however yesterday we had our first bad experience :( we found a hair buried in our ranch we let the staff know and they just took the cup and brought us new ranch. I'm assuming they have a whole batch made already so that's gross. Best service I've had ever at ANY Applebee's. And I've eaten at many! Lol. My husband and I went for a sunday lunch date and our waiter, Roman was on it! Didn't have to ask for refills, the food was made fairly quick, and even when we left, our waiter had the cooks split and separately package our dessert that he knew we were planning on sharing.
