Service was decent for time. Quite a few of employees hanging out after their shift (waiting on food to take home), they were quite loud. The place was very quiet otherwise. Asked for one item to be removed from my meal, but they removed 2 and the other item was my favorite. Hubby got the perfect margarita which comes with chips and salsa. We visited this location and wanted to order the honey pepper chicken mac n cheese but they were all out *gasp*! that's all I ever order at Applebee's. I ended up ordering their double crunch wings with the honey pepper sauce and they were very yummy. Their fries are also really good too. My mother in law ordered a burger and wanted no pink in the middle. When she cut her burger it was raw. They took it back and made her another one that was better. They took the burger off of our bill for the inconvenience which was really nice of them. Everything else was great! I'd just like to start out by saying that Applebee's is much better than other fast-food restaurants out there. I went to this location last night with my mom and grandparents for a bite to eat and a couple drinks. Firstly, They messed up on my drink, I asked for a Kona big wave and they gave me a corona, I corrected them Fastly on it and she let me have the corona for free which was cool. It took about an hour to get our food and we got it; it was almost cold like it was sitting in the back for 10-15 mins, I got all you can eat wings and my first plate had 20 wings and ofc you can only have one flavor to start out with, definitely wasn't too happy about that because I wanted other flavors of wings. Went out to Applebee's for dinner which I do a lot. The menu has been changed so often that I never know what to expect. Was looking to have one of the chicken bowls (with mashed potatoes). Nope, all they had were the SW Bowls. There are a lot of people like me who can't do anything spicy. Why do the "powers that be" think they know what we want Used to be a great place to eat. Came in and was promptly seated by the host. We were also greeted by a super sweet server who was very good about explaining the menu to us. We decided to try the 2 for $20 menu. This is a menu that I feel they should really do away with. We ordered some chicken and a macaroni dish. The chicken was juicy but lacked flavor. The macaroni was just blah. We both went home with a tummy ache that lasted all night and was very unpleasent. We were left to believe that it had to be the food beacuse we were both sick right after eating it. Service was horrible, our server never checked on us once. Enjoyed our meal. I was a little disappointed that the salmon was moved to six ounces from eight. The grilled veggies were over grilled and burnt. I got the garlicky green beans even though they didn't taste garlicky. I had asked her to cancel them and give me the mashed potatoes but I guess something got confuse. I had raspberry iced tea which was good and ordered the ice cream shooter for dessert. Was good and just the right amount of ice cream. We went for my friends birthday and she got a free ice cream. The server was nice. We went before they had a line. I would of gone for five stars but the charred veggies turned me off. Stopped by Miller Hill Mall for some shopping and decided to grab a lunch bite at Applebee's. Had one of the lunch specials which included Tortilla Soup and a Chicken Wrap. Both items were good, but the Tortilla Soup was very tasty. I've had the Tortilla Soup at other Applebee's - always consistently good. Restaurant was not very busy on this Wednesday at lunch time, but we were early. Service was slow even though it wasn't busy. Rest of the family commented that their food was just ok including the Honey Chicken Tenders and an Asian Salad. Tomato Soup was good, but did not taste like "Tomato Basil". All in all, giving this visit a 3 out of 5. read more

If Duluth is your "big city" you likely have been to this Applebee's in the Miller Hill Mall. It's a perfectly serviceable place, fairly agreeable staff, always edible food, good cold beer, so don't be afraid to make a rest stop here. We visited on Saturday and we were highly disappointed with the entire experience. We knew they were busy when we had a 20 minute wait, but we weren't expecting to spend over 2 hours in the restaurant. Our waitress came over and got our drinks pretty quickly. We ordered our meals and an appetizer and that's where things went downhill. We waited, and waited and still waited for our appetizer. It finally came out to the table 55 minutes after we ordered it. In this entire time, the waitress didn't stop back. She did spend a lot of time sitting with the table next to us socializing. In the 15 minutes they were there, she brought them food twice. We, however, were still waiting. 1 hour and 35 minutes after ordering, our food finally came. The waitress came back and we asked for a refill. We were all pretty hungry and around 20 minutes later our food was gone, but no refill. She finally came back after we were about done and got the refill of the one drink we ordered. We only ordered 4 pasta dishes and 2 chicken strip plates, nothing was "custom" ordered so the dishes should have been easy to make. Untill tonight ive always been an Apple Bee's fan. Probably will never eat here again, i recieved the worst imaginable service from some weighter named Austin A. From the moment me and my group got here he started us off by saying once we sat down we were not allowed to move places. Then brings me my lemonade completely watered down so i get a shake, he then brings it to me completely over filled dripping all down the sides. Host wanted to seat us by the door. We asked for another location. He sat three of us in a booth for two. We asked the waitress if we could sit in a larger booth. We expected two more in our party. She said sure. The place had many open tables and booths. However, the employees kept stopping by commenting on us being in the booth. It Does not seem like there is that little extra effort put in by the staff to make the customers experience that much more enjoyable. Lunch yesterday and today sick. French Onion Soup first bite... hmmm that's weird... second bite... this tastes like mold. Told the waitress that there is something wrong with the soup and it tastes like mold. She said she was sorry and would take care of it. She grabbed the moldy soup and walked away. She returned with the bill and said "I removed $3.75 from your bill for the soup". Wow. Sick today as you can imagine what kind of sick it is! Stupid. The overall response to this was completely lacking in both attitude and compensation (if you call $3.75 compensation for eating moldy soup and getting food poisoning). If they would have handled this differently I would not have spent the time writing this. Will not be going back there simple as that. I am a local and prefer to frequent locally-owned businesses, but the group I was joining chose Applebee's and it was more about the company than the location. So we went. The menu was pretty big and I was looking for something I was pretty sure wasn't microwaved. We got some appetizers for the table; a combo platter of some sort and some onion rings. Onion rings-tasted like old grease, quesadillas were pretty good, boneless wings ok, spinach and artichoke dip, a big yuck. No taste at all and definitely microwaved. You could see where the spinach stuck to the side of the cup. 3 of us at our table went with nachos. Mine looked to have about half the cheese the others did. And they weren't layered. Only the top covered in toppings. A huge no-no for a good plate of nachos. We also had to ask for salsa. Two people ordered the fish and chips and the fish looked good. The other got the quesadilla burger, but with grilled chicken. It looked tasty, and she liked it. Overall, very chain-like and predictable food with a few corners cut. The service, however was very good (Colleen). She was very helpful and attentive. There are so many other places in Duluth to go. I probably won't be back for another 8+ years like last time. read more

This is the only place I'll go after 9, as the food is pretty good and the half-price apps make it even better. I usually only get the wings, as they are generally outstanding compared to other places in the area. They have pretty fast service, especially after implementing their at-the-table touch screen ordering system. The wait staff is always friendly and attentive, even when it's busy. The only time I didn't like my visit was when I ordered the walleye (fish & chips) - I didn't expect a serving the size of a full-body walleye, with all the bones still in it. I am accustomed to having few to no bones in my fish, but I might be picky that way, so I wouldn't mark them down for it. read more

To be honest, I am not at all a fan of Applebees, but have been to the restaurants many times in my life. This particular location, located right in the mall, is way better than any of the other Applebees I've been too. All of the ones in the Twin Cities area all suck! I mean that. I've never gotten good service or good food. I must point out though, this location has always been pretty consistent. I've been here a lot with my family, after a day of shopping and what not. The restaurant is usually pretty busy, so there almost always is a wait. The service is OK. I mean, not to sound incredibly rude or anything, but it is Applebees. There really isn't anything that is super amazing about the place, and I'm sure it isn't hard to please the majority of the people that eat there on a daily basis. The food has always been OK, for Applebees standards, nothing really to complain about. at least what you order is hot and seems fresh! read more

I'm sorry but about once a year I go to Applbee's and every time I can't believe I tried it again. The food is always lousy at both the Duluth and Superior location. The prices aren't that good and the beer is NEVER cold. Service is usually good though but plan on a waiting list if you go to the Miller Mall location. I would give this location a 1 out of 5 stars but it is better than the Superior location so I felt obliged to give this one a higher rating. read more

We have visited Applebees both in Duluth and Cloquet during lunch. This week was on Tuesday at 1:30pm. We ordered off their back page lunch menu and it took nearly an hour to receive our food. Hard to determine if it was BAD service or SLOW cooks or not enough employees or too many employees having their lunch break. It has become a joke within my professional world and in this entire Northern Minnesota area about going to any Applebees for lunch. No one can eat there quick----have to take an extended lunch hour at least. Wake up Applebees-----We are not on "Island Time" here-----Maybe if you would speed up your service/food, you would have a full restaurant at lunch time instead of working people going elsewhere where they can have lunch fairly quick! read more

My wife and I used to go here all the time, with the great late night appetizer deals and convenient location (At the Miller Hill Mall) it was a no brainer. Then one night we had the worst dining experience we have ever had. We got sat promptly which was great. Then waited fifteen minutes for our server to greet us. I work in the restaurant industry so I thought it was probably just that she was busy or something like that. She took our orders since we had plenty of time to decide. Someone else brought us our drinks, and then someone else brought us our food, then the hostess brought us refills for our drinks. During all this we could see our server sitting at the table right next to ours drinking (what looked like a cocktail) and joking with her co-workers, after about 20 minutes of that, I got up and told her I wanted to pay my bill, and she informed me she forgot we were there. Since she did literally nothing for us I decided to tip the bartender and the host who provided service for us, and not tip the server who did nothing. Later that night, a friend of ours who works at that restaurant told my wife and I that the server was going around the restaurant after we left complaining that we never tip when we are in there, and that she sees the woman(my wife) in there with different guys at least twice a week and, "she's a slut." Needless to say they will not be getting our business anytime soon. read more
