Applebees is a great late night spot. There is no wait for seating usually and service is pretty quick. We arrived and I ordered the Napa Chicken with Portobellos. It came with Grilled chicken breast, and grilled mushrooms and grilled onion. Also came with some roasted potatoes. Very good for a healthier option out to dinner. I think if I came to Applebees again looking for a lighter option I would probably choose this again. As far as the service here. I will just say it was OK. I had recently visited this apple bees location after quite some time. Their food has improved so much! I ordered one of their steak entrees and it was so tender and juicy, very easy to cut. A typical American-style restaurant I would say. The food is decent but definitely not for those with a refine palette. I had the Chicken with Portobellos and that was reasonably well done. The chicken was still moist after the grill and there was a fair amount of vegetables on the side. I will come back to try other dishes but not the best I have had. So Applebee's policy is to have Monday Night Football on Mondays instead of putting on MLB playoff baseball. Goes to show why their ratings are mediocre at best. We ordered to go and our order was very messed up. My boyfriend ordered a well done sirloin steak with mash potatoes and shrimp instead he got well done which was my order. They also forgot to add my green beans to my order and fully charged me for it. Loaded baked potato soup was so watery, this soup is supposed to be thick since it's made out of potatoes. This is a great place for lunch or dinner they have great deals for couples. We order of the 2 for menu and its ALWAYS amazing. The servers are always prompt and make sure your happy, I really didn't like the green beans but they were nice enough to take them back and give me broccoli. Bo, the bartender did a great job! We stayed for the whole Thursday night football game and he did a great job with all guests. Leslie Messano the "manager" was super rude. I came to this location, I usually go to the one in San Marcos hoping I wouldn't find her again. I clearly heard her being rude to her employees and would change her attitude, acting all peppy and happy as soon as me and my friends would walk in. I'm pretty sure she retaliates on purpose because I heard her talk bad about some customers. Didn't mean to eavesdrop but she's pretty loud. If there were mistakes on my order, she'd say she fix them but instead I'd just see her talking to other tables and practically throw my food when serving it. Good location, convenient, and our waitress (why cannot I not remember names!) was wonderful! Applebee's does not have the menu items that Chilly's does, but it still has a full bar and is a reasonably priced place where one can stop in for a quick drink and a bite to eat. This location is pretty consistent in quality and freshness (can you use that word at a place where most items are frozen, thawed and cooked) of the food. Not sure why they have these goofy devices on the tables where you can spend money to place games, but they do. I give this location a "Yah! We really enjoyed our late 2 for $22 lunch today, Saturday 9/1. Hamburger was insanely good. Our server was wonderful....fries were cold but he brought us a huge serving of fresh, hot fries. Then I ordered the bonesless chicken wings with buffalo sauce and when it arrived only about half of them had enough sauce on them and not enough in the plate to make up for the missing sauce. I'm a blue collared restaurant snob, and quite frankly, find general, non-directional American Fare restaurants rather boring and bland. But to appease the lady in my life, i said, "Oh what the hell." The first time we went, the food was great. I had the apple grilled chicken breast over rice. We ordered takeout, ate in the car. So good, that we went back a week later. This trip was for her fathers birthday; and everything was excellent! We have decided to make it a weekly stop! Unfortunately, I cannot give more than 3 stars because the past 2 visits have been underwhelming and have left more to be desired. The burgers on burger night are a great deal. The beer or pub or brew house burger...whatever you call it...OMG heaven. Everything else was so salty that it was unconsumable. The fries, gross, both garlic and seasoned. The beer pretzel appetizer is a waste of money. And the spinach and artichoke dip was lukewarm and seemed as if you could do better at Costco. Since the server was overwhelmed with customers, it wasn't worth our time to complain. $55 later, there are just about two or three dozen restaurants within a few blocks that are better. I would like to say that the service and kindness of the servers each visit was felt and appreciated. Nothing against them, However the overall synergy of the restaurant just isn't there. read more
