Absolutely disgusting. Went after work with a couple of my coworkers and after being seated the server proceeded to tell us that they "unfortunately " do not have 90% of the menu... They didn't have any burgers, buns, pasta, deserts, etc. They only had appetizers. So we said whatever and got some appetizers. When they came out all the food was cold. I have to admit it's been years since I've stepped foot into an Applebee's. I was never really impressed with their food but they have totally revamped and upgraded their menu since my last visit. Food: we went for the 2 for $20 deal so basically you can choose two salads and two entrees or one appetizer and two entrees. I was craving buffalo wings (in this case they were bites) and they were absolutely amazing. Hit the spot. It wasn't crazy spicy but just enough heat for that zing. My entree was the oriental chicken salad. They loaded it with slices of grilled chicken and won ton strips. It was good! Nothing over the top, but it hit the spot. Service: you order your food from an iPad.. So it's a must that your server engages with your table or what's the point in a tip? Ours was nice and catering so it worked out. Cleanliness: I did visit the bathroom on this trip and I have to say- way to go girls!! Is it weird that girls bathrooms are always a mess?! What the heck! Not here. Spotless! Woohoo! Lastly, the restaurant isn't in our neighborhood so this was just a stop on our way home from the safari park. If we are in the area we will probably come back. read more

Food: I had a great burger here. It was the Standard All In Burger that comes w bacon and onions grilled into the patty. Cheese and grilled onions are on top. The patty is thick, juicy and savory. Cheese is melted perfectly over the entire patty. Bun is moist and crisp w a buttery taste. It does not come w any fresh veggies on it so make sure to ask for them and they will give you them for free. Boneless wings are really good. They come w ranch and celery. We got the hot buffalo and this had perfect flavor and heat. We got a 2 for $20 deal which included 2 entrees from a list as well as an appetizer or 2 side salads. Great deal!! Service: great attentive service. You can order your food from digital devices at your table. You also pay and tip w this device as well. Servers come and make sure everything is ok frequently and fill drinks as needed. We had no wait on a weekday lunchtime. Food came out quickly and at perfect temp. Atmosphere: they have many TVs around the place. They have them mostly in the bar section, but there are some also in the main dining areas. They have lots of booths that you can fit a high chair at the end of. Parking: lots of parking on the weekday we went. My husband and I stopped by one night because we were staying at the Welk resort and didn't want to eat at the resort so we came to this shopping center because it is the only shopping center I know that has food in Escondido- I'm not very familiar with the area. We decided on Applebee's and ended up on getting the 2 for $20 deal which was pretty good. I liked their Lemon chicken and will most likely order that again next time! The service was good and the ambiance is standard for an Applebee's restaurant. Parking is plenty in the shopping center since it's a pretty big center. read more

The service was good! Food was good BUT the restrooms was Horrible! It smelled terrible as I was walking to the restroom & when I got there it smelled like a local Sewer! The smell came from the middle of the restroom, there was a drainage sewer. How can people ignore the smell of the elephant in that place! Management needs to fix that sewer problem. read more

First time coming here in a long time. Came here for happy hour(330pm-6pm) and with a party of 7. The hostess kindly informed about how short staffed they were it wasn't a big deal since we were still waiting on a few from our party. We were seated quickly and was able to get the large booth. Although short staffed it didn't seem like it. The hostess was able to help for a bit, place drinks (noted that it could take awhile), and set us up with an electronic table order device. My party slowly trickled in and our main waitress Chelsea took care our table. Happy Hour Food -chips and salsa (bottomless chips) -spinach dip -chicken quesadilla -french fries all food ordered was "okay" nothing great. mediocre. Wish they had more selection for happy hour food. Drinks -$4 long beach tea -$5 long island -$3 wells great prices on drinks. a little on the sweet side though for cocktails. Overall: Wish the food was better and had more items for happy hour but what gives this place 4 stars was Chelsea's great service. Everything was brought out quickly. Orders placed quickly. Waters filled. Checks were split without us asking (a couple errors but easy fix) French fries were forgotten but Chelsea put that on the house. Great friendly attitude. Service was great. The food made me not want to come back. I had the impossible burger which tasted like a beyond or boca burger. Anyways it was pretty flavorless and dried out. This Applebees is great as soon as I got there they open the doors for me and let me in with open arms I always get the same thing when I go to Applebees and this time it just tasted so much better at this location. Geo was serving behind the bar tonight and he took my drink order right as I was sitting down it took in no time at all the come and help me out. I ordered a salad and the parmesan garlic shrimp and sirloin . The salad came first and I ate it with a ranch dressing which was delicious and neatly placed on the plate it didn't look like somebody just threw a bunch of salad on my plate. When I was done with my salad he was quickly to pick up everything and then not long after came out my plate. I like to eat all of my food very very hot because I don't like mediocre warm or cold food I always send the back but when I was here at Applebees my food came out piping hot and I am NOT going to complain about the food at all. my steak was perfectly done just how I asked for it. I will definitely be returning to this location for more fabulous food. read more

Came in on a Monday after noon super slow. But tables were dirty . The hostess Definelty was not welcoming I believe her name was Jessica. So then she seats us and it takes 5 mins to get our drinks. Overall the food was blehhhh nothing to tasty. The waiter was friendly but never got our tab. I had to go up and ask for it . I don't think I would visit this particular location again. But give it a try. I would work on hiring outgoing individuals as hostess as they are the first impression customers get of the place. read more

the service was great no complaints that's why i'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 star. i just wanted to say the food was incredibly plain. my husband and i haven't been to applebees in years so we thought we eat out here just to try it out. the mac and cheese had little to no taste i had to load it up with salt and pepper. also to note my husband eats everything no complaints but it was a little shocking when he said his steak was not seasoned enough and overall did not enjoy his meal. lastly the tomato basil soup tasted like watered down... i guess tomato's im not sure how to explain it but there was no flavor once again i didn't even bother to take a third bite overall the experience was 2/10 but thank goodness the service was good! the overall ambiance of the restaurant was loud and busy but that's normal especially on a friday evening so no hate to that! definitely not coming back to any applebees period. no shade though read more

Since Applebee's was offering a free meal to the military on Veteran's Day and my boyfriend is in the National Guard, we decided to take advantage of the offer and stop in for a cheap dinner. It seemed a lot of other people had the same idea and when we arrived shortly after 6 p.m., we were told that it would be an hour wait. Luckily, there's plenty of stores in the shopping complex so we were able to entertain ourselves with some window shopping. As for the food, it was better than expected. I haven't been blown away by Applebee's in the past so I decided to try something new. The three cheese chicken penne pasta was actually pretty tasty! The menu said it came with toasted bread but instead it was a breadstick, which isn't quite as good in my book. My boyfriend had the double crunch shrimp and I didn't hear any complaints so I'm guessing it was good. Not too much else to say. It is just Applebee's after all. read more

This place is always an hit or miss with service. The food is always good, and the menu always changing give you constant new flavors. I would recommend not ever sitting at the bar area booths/tables because this is where the service lacks the most in my opinion. This location was surprisingly very busy for a weekday lunch. I met my wife and realized we were the youngest in the restaurant. I was glad to see that the Horse Racing Channel was on so I decided to place a few bets and won! So lunch was on me and made the food taste much better! Our server was great. She kept calling us darling. We got there at about 1130 and even though they closed at 12 she never rushed us and was on top of everything. Me and my guy did the 2 for 25. He got ribs, green beans, and garlic mashed potatoes. I did the four cheese mac w chicken strips. We were both very pleased. Our server said some people complain about the honey pepper sauce on the chicken making the dish soupy. I've never had that problem and the sauce makes the dish. I had the mac before as a side and it wasn't good. Not sure if they forgot the cheese or if it was the location but it wasn't good. Mix all the flavors together you get sweet and savory. He brought out 2/3 of our meals wrong and then it took forever for them to bring out the correct ones. Two for $25 deal is pretty good. Both of us ordered the ribs, fries and Caesar salad. Food was delicious. Our server Torey was great. She was friendly, attentive, and was moving at a fast pace. My only complaint is the manager Jose. The place was busy and had a wait. Manager Jose did absolutely nothing for 30 minutes. The entire time he stood next to the bar and watched soccer on the TV. If you are reading this, perhaps you should help your staff or walk around asking the customers how their meal is. read more

I've come here like a gazillion times and somehow never reviewed this place! I'm shocked. If I actually remembered to check in each time, I'd hold the yelp crown of regulars! We have been coming to this location for 4 years now. Anyway obviously I love Applebees. Everything from the food to the customer service. Even my teenage daughter today said "I've never had bad service at applebees". I usually come for happy hour with my boyfriend... Bartender Brooke is so sweet and personable. She's actually the one we usually see. I feel like we get a lot for not a lot of money. I love the spinach artichoke dip, mozerella sticks and boneless wings the best. For today's experience (I wish I caught this servers name), our server was super attentitive, friendly & saved us money on the appetizer plates suggesting we combine the build your own appetizer . At the end after I paid, I realized on the receipt I was billed for one of those stupid kiosk games that I absolutely did not play. I brought it the servers attention to see if anything she could do or if it's too late & she tried to give me the $2 back OUT OF HER TIPS! I couldn't believe she did that. I felt horrible and ended up giving it back to her. Why should she be short changed when she offered nothing but great service to us? By the time the second potato arrived, my steak was now cold and even though it they heated his potato in the microwave, it was still under cooked and HARD. So I finished my cold steak and broccoli and left the potato on my plate and the second potato in a bowl. Then I get my bill for the full amount.
