    Burbon street mushroom burger

I came to this location last night to celebrate Thing Two's birthday. The restaurant was fairly slow, which could be expected for a Monday evening around 6:00 PM. Therefore, we (a total party of 4) were seated right away. We ordered appetizers, and all had individual entrees. Here we go... Brew Pub Pretzels Everyone knows that pretzels are a staple food in pubs, bars, restaurants, and, of course are served with a pint of beer! Its popularity truly has nothing to do with its history but continues to develop and become better than ever with the rise of the foodie culture. Fun fact: Did you know that pretzels are associated with the religious practice called Lent? Back in the 7th century, the Catholic Church had much more strict rules regarding Lent than now. However, because people still needed to eat, the church suggested the pretzel be an ideal food of choice when practicing abstinence. These pretzels served have a tender chew with a lightly crispy exterior. However, the beer cheese that accompanied these pretzels was chalky and left much to be desired. Chicken Wonton Tacos These sweet chili chicken tacos are sweet with flavors of garlic, ginger, soy, and sweet chili sauce. These are light appetizers that are perfect for those who like a little zing. Tex-Mex Shrimp Bowl- Yikes, this entree is extremely bland. The base for this entree (cilantro rice) didn't have any taste whatsoever. It was as if the line cook last night just gave up. The other ingredients did nothing to help the dish as it was mostly Romaine lettuce. Other items ordered include the Bourbon Street Mushroom burger, sweet and spicy crispy sandwich, and a sirloin holiday combo. These entrees fared better than the Tex-Mex shrimp bowl. However, the sirloin on the combo wasn't cooked as requested. The service provided by Emily was efficient and pleasant, yet the food (which was not in her control) was underwhelming.

I got an email offer to test out a new fried chicken sandwich at Applebees, so I figured why not? Went on a Sunday around 2:30 PM and even with football, it was mostly empty. I sat at the bar, had quick service, showed them the email and ordered the sandwich. The chicken breast was HUGE, well-cooked, and seasoned well. The accompanying sauce was a thicker buffalo-style sauce and I used it more for dipping the fries. Fresh vegetables with a good crisp - not wilted. For $10, was a decent deal. Clean, fresh, attentive, tasty!

My waitress Ashley was so sweet! When my husband and I go out to have a few drinks she is so accommodating! Cheap appetizers too!

The Fiesta Lime Chicken and service is always great! I wish the music near the bar wasn't so loud (approx. 2 PM on Friday).

The waitstaff were all very kind and attentive. The food felt very overpriced for what we received. The brunch fruit bowl I received consisted of four thin slices of strawberry (not even one strawberry), two pineapple chunks and no more than 15 blueberries. The ham and eggs Benedict was borderline flavorless and the egg white was cold and runny. I love a good poached egg, but it was more liquid than poached. The tequila sunrise was musky and the flavor of the tequila overwhelmed the rest of the drink. I really wanted to like this place! However, I spent $35 on a pretty pitiful brunch meal. The restaurant seating area and decor were all nice. The bathroom had no music and is small and cramped (you can't get paper towels without either blocking the door or a stall). The people were kind and attentive enough that I probably would try it again? Maybe Sunday brunch or a different meal entirely.

It was the Fourth of July and mid-afternoon to boot - So they weren't as fully set up as they would be on a normal day. * * * CJ's is the food and drink operation of Mel's Bowling Alley. As a Bowling Alley, Mel's looks like it is first rate. The bowling alleys in Austin are fairly lame. This place had a million alleys, a large arcade, and some of the psychedelic ultraviolet-lit alleys that make modern bowling more interesting. As a place to throw strikes, spares and gutter balls, Mel's looks pretty good. * * * However the high quality of the bowling operation does not extend to the food operation. They have two primary bars/eating areas. It being the Fourth of July on "odd hours", one of the rooms was semi-closed. The room where they actually were serving customers was pretty gross. I went to sit at the bar, The bar at literally every single stool was filthy. There were old dishes that obviously had been sitting there for quite some time. Where there were no dishes, the bar was greasy with leftover food and spills. The tables were a little better but not by much. The bartender really didn't seem to care. She was chatting with a staffer. After the staffer left, she was just hanging out. * * * If a food establishment can not be counted on to clean the public areas, How can you be sure the kitchen is not filthy as well? I was out of there, to do my eating and drinking elsewhere. * * * If you go to Mel's to bowl, Check out the food areas before you order any food from your bowling lane. If they are as dirty then as they were on the day I visited, Finish your bowling and go to a more reliable place for your snacks.

Music was cover charge worthy and from what I heard from other patrons and staff, they also loved the music. Food was ok. Drinks and service were fantastic. Still hungry we decided to go to Wrigleys. Walked in & got a table immediately & Collage football was on & we knew it was going to be a good time. Server came by & dropped off menus & stated she would be right back. When she came back, she had a big smile on her face & was so friendly. We asked questions about a few menu items & she helped us make delicious choices. The nachos are huge & so good. Quesadilla was huge too. We were very happy & full. She offered dessert but we were so full we declined. We relaxed for a bit & enjoyed the games on the TVs. It was a very relaxing visit Thank you to our wonderful server Carlee for making our visit so memorable. We will definitely be returning & having dessert next time. Thank you for a wonderful night Wrigleys & Carlee.

We live in Sun City and frequent the restaurant weekly. She threw three menus at us for eight people. I get it, she probably wanted to go home , but no excuse for her rudeness to her paying patrons. I'm sorry this happened especially with my daughter in law and grandkids.
