I've held off on reviewing most places like this because really, what's the point? If you've been to one, you know the score. But, my experience tonight changed my mind. I haven't been here in a while, since of the 3 in town it's the furthest from my house. It's changed. The food is typical Applebee's...I think it's all trucked in from one location and re-heated on site. Certainly nothing special, but it's edible. What sets this place apart is the service. We sat in the bar, and the waiter wandered over while I was holding the table and my 3 friends went to the can. He mumbled what I assume was a greeting, I told him there was 4 of us and he shuffled away. When he came back, he tossed 4 menus on the table as he went by. Literally, tossed them...they would have slid off if they hadn't hit the salt/pepper/propaganda rack in the middle of the table. He's already pissed me off at that point. We ordered drinks and some appetizers, and his response was 'Nobody's eating?', and gave some sort of grunt when we said no. Then it took 3 trips to bring drinks for 4 people. Meanwhile, some girls - apparently staff with the night off - sitting at the adjacent table started a little battle with the staff behind the bar, throwing wadded napkins, straw wrappers, etc at each other. So, Shuffles the waiter returned and dropped a couple baskets of wings, then made another trip with plates...and loudly dropped them in the middle of the table. So there I sit, irritated with the staff on duty and with the staff off duty, and with an empty glass. He didn't come by to check on us, then he messed up the checks, combining the wrong people even though we told him how to separate them 30 seconds before. Plus, he charged everyone for drinks, including the one person not drinking alcohol. While I admit I was pissed off before my seat was even warm, I found the level of service and the attitude of our server to be inexcuseable. My husband and I have went in on April 1 for dinner. Our server Zachary S approached us after about 5 minutes of sitting. The first words out of his mouth were that he was new and he was very tired.( I thought it was an April fools joke) We ordered a chicken wing app and it came, we still had no water, extra napkins or plates. He took our order after we finished the wings, FINALLY brought water and napkins and left the menus on the table. Manager came by and asked if we had ordered yet and we said yes that he had not picked up the menus. Food came, I asked for mustard and never received it. STAY OUTTA THE BAR!! SHITTIEST, MOST AGGRESSIVE BAR SERVICE I'VE EVER HAD! I have to say, the unwelcoming vibe began the moment we walked in. I'm visiting family from NYC and this was our last meal out before I fly back. We walked in and BRAD immediately began making us feel unwelcome and quite frankly, unwanted in "his" bar. I shrugged off the little group of industry peeps sitting on a corner of the bar but it was too obvious as EVERYTIME there was burst of laughter he would look over and put his head down when I acknowledged that it was at our expense. It honestly felt as if we were on an elementary school playground and BRADLEY was the class jester/bully. Waitress was nice. Real trouble came when my niece and I ordered a couple happy hour margaritas and they came back with a slight cinnamon taste to them. I asked the waitress if perhaps that's how they were made and she said no. My niece drank hers, the waitress proceeded to ask BRAD if they contained cinnamon and he said no. She then offered to have them re-made and I accepted. They came back the same so I ordered a shot to diffuse the cinnamon flavor. BRADLEY WAS PISSED. That's when he began to cut jokes at my expense mentioning he was gonna put something on my plate or next drink. He realized we could hear him after I shot him a look and then ordered a server to turn the music up really loud - I'm assuming to make his bullying remarks. We did alert our waitress and she agreed seeming to know that BRAD had a propensity to have a hot temper. I asked her to inform a manager, which she said she did and he would be dealing with him later. NO MANAGER EVER CAME TO TALK TO US. I've worked over 15yrs in the restaurant industry and I understand that your #1 Priority is to make your guest feel welcomed NOT ostracized and unwelcome. I'll never come here again. Walked right in after a bad experience at another Applebee's and received immediate service. Service was great and we tipped generously.

We were seated right away at 7:20 on a Friday evening even though they were busy--that's about the best thing I can say about this particular Applebees. I can understand smaller portions, but when our food arrived, over half the plates were empty. My son's chicken strips and fries were served on a rectangular plate with all the food arranged on 2/3 of it and a big empty space at the end. My dish was served in the middle of a big round dinner plate, with about a 3" empty gap all the way around. Not at all visually appealing. I ordered a steak, cooked medium, along with what was supposed to be a side of mixed veggies (zucchini, green beans, mushrooms) and roasted potatoes and received a very rare steak with the texture of a gummy bear (not sure how they pulled that off?) on top of a pile of burnt potatoes with two burnt pieces of zucchini and two mushy green beans. On top of this, they brought out my husband's food along with both of our kids' food, and mine was supposedly "on its way"...and showed up almost 10 minutes later, after first being offered to the table across the aisle from us (and who knows who else between us and the kitchen). The check came, and was not in a folder, which I suppose is ok if this is Denny's and you want me to pay on my way out the door, but I felt very uneasy handing the server a receipt and my card loosely, especially when she grabbed two other tables' payments in the same handful. Overall...as much as we tend to love Applebees and seek them out whenever we are out of town because of their consistency, I can't say we'll be back to this one. read more

I went with a co-worker this afternoon and never knew who my server was, let alone never saw her. We even turned on the blinking light on the table and employee after employee, including managers without asking what we needed. We were sitting in the bar and one of the waitresses was very unknowledgeable about the product. We would have stayed longer, but we never received any service. Food was good, drinks average,service horrible. When one of the managers finally came over, I expressed my frustration and NOTHING was done about it. Should have learned our lesson from the previous times we've ordered! Spent $40. Got the kids fried shrimp and broccoli (it was cold. Broccoli was bland, cold, and undercooked), the shrimp and broccoli cavatappi (also cold, bland and sauce was watery and a very small portion), and the built appetizer platter with pot stickers (tiny, bland, cold), pulled pork sliders (the pineapple was canned and gross, and bread was dry/stale), and siraccha shrimp (again cold). My friend and I went into apple bees after purposefully leaving wingstop for Applebee's on October 18, 2018. There was no wait and we wanted some wings to go so we could meet up with some friends. We waited for close to 25 minutes for 2 with no wait, two orders of wings and weren't checked on once during that time. The host was nice but didn't communicate the happy hour half price with all of the conditions. As well as left the restaurant with no one up front while we waited those 25 minutes. When everything was complete, I asked if I walked out with the food what would one of the servers do, and she said, "she would chase me down". I work at a local restaurant and am a host so we have strict stipulations in that, and she justifies there's a whole lot worse she can do that she would get fired for. Then we were told about happy hour pricing conditions as we were paying for our order and asked what it take so we could get the pricing and meet all the qualifications of getting half priced as quick as possible then leave since the conditions weren't mentioned to us up front. They got the manager and he was just as unprofessional as the server and the manager verified the unprofessionalism when saying "that's not how it works here", and seemed as if he didn't want us there as guests to begin with. My friend and I are on a budget and our parents don't let us spend much of our money so the happy hour was huge for us. when the manager conveyed what he did in an unprofessional manner and didn't even try to help us best he could we both walked out because his lack of professionalism for a manager was unbelievably low. Working at the local restaurant I do, has taught me customers are primary and what we base our job off of, and sometimes you have to step out of the ordinary for them, everyone messes up but it's about making it right. This manager and experience ruined our whole night and we left hungry because we couldn't deal with the poor service. My friend and I both used to go there every week, but after last night, I will not be attending apple bees anytime in the future or advising it to anyone. I have a had much more grand encounters at Mc Donald's if they ever make a mistake and fix the issue, especially if the fault was on them than what was even close to that of my experience at Applebee's. read more

I love their food, but their service has never been what it should be. I eat out 6 days a week, so I've hit all the restaraunts in Tri Cities. I have talked with numerous managers over the years, about this, at this Applebees. I've said, you've got great food, now you just need great service!! but to deaf ears it goes. I continue to eat at Applebees, but not as frequent as I would like,again because the service is not there. A good manager would see that its the service to customers that will bring them in more times in a month. I am one of those customers. As my family and I came in to have some dinner around 5:00 we were hoping to make it in by 6 pm for half price appetizers. We were told it would only be 20-25 minutes, that was not the case. We waited up to 50 minutes, one guy kept telling us that they were cleaning a table and almost had it ready as another 15 minutes past we asked about that table they were just "cleaning" and one gal said there was no table, that if we wanted to be seated we would have to sit separately (there were 11 of us) but said it should only be a couple more minutes so we continued to wait, now it's about 6:05. After talking to the manager and asking why things were taking so long and if it would be possible to honor the half price apps since we were there way before 6 and why they were telling us false information, he said that they would sit us when it was our turn and would not honor the half price apps or if we wanted to be seated we could have two separate booths.. as we were quite upset we said if we wanted to sit separately we would go somewhere and all the manager said was "go ahead" "there's nothing we can do right now". So we walked right out because we knew if we stayed our service would have been just as bad as their attitudes. Now I understand a restaurant being full and having to wait a few extra minutes because of a larger group. But the false information they kept giving and the absolute rude comments coming from the manager and the fact that he didn't care one bit to try to make the situation better or even do one single thing was unacceptable and unprofessional. As a rule....regardless of the establishment, I won't squeak about service or food. Today I violated my rule. Our waitress was polite, professional, and knowledgeable about every item on the menu. But after we ordered, the pleasantries stopped cold. It took at LEAST 3 times the "normal" delivery time to get our order. Easily 30m+. It was only my wife and myself w very simple orders. A cheeseburger and a bacon club sammy. When we finally got our order, my burger had obviously been setting for awhile, my fries were almost cold and you know how nasty fries get after they have sat for awhile. My wife's club was pretty much the same, it had obviously been hear lamped before it was brought out. She commented that her sammy wasn't their best work. When our server finally did return to our table for the obligatory, "how's everything", we mentioned that everything was room temp and unacceptable. Our server apologized and did mention that there was an "issue" with something else in the back, but didn't elaborate. We received our "adjusted" check, paid and headed out. Went with a party of about 20 and they were ill prepared to accommodate it. They had one server for about half the restaurant, who did his best. As you could expect, service was slow and error ridden. The manager did stop by to say the isle needs to be kept clear and proceeded to chat with a customer I the bar.
