I don't really come to Applebee's unless it's to hang out with my friend, Sandra, a bartender here to get a couple of cheap beers late at night but tonight we got a wild hair. I was actually really pleased with our experience. I had the Spinach and Artichoke Chicken Pasta and it actually was pretty good for chain restaurant standards. My husband had the Brunch Burger and said it was cooked perfectly. We sat at the bar and Tyler, the bartender was very attentive and made great conversation. I feel bad for our server. He took our kids' orders first then ours. He continually went back to the kitchen to check on their food. When he saw my husband and I with food he just about lost his mind and went directly to his manager. Our server was the only one who cared that our kids waited so long for their meals. The manager made a brief stop at our table (not even long enough to get her name) and took the kid meals off our bill (though not the extra apple sauce). The riblets were partially burned, the mac and cheese with bacon was nearly tasteless, and our son's pizza was overcooked. Our daughter had the best meal - chicken quesadillas. We didn't go to Applebee's for a gourmet meal, but this was an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience. It's too bad the manager doesn't care. I am going to start off with saying I have never been more upset when I tried contacting Applebee's directly through their website since I ordered a pick up order from there. I hit contact and typed out a semi lengthy comment regarding my order. Hit submit and it tells me I need to put in date of service, order, whatever. Scroll up and the date is there. I am not taking any chances on making this a long entry like I did and lost at their website so I am going in the order of placing this order. 1. I went to website and placed order for a classic combo appetizer for $16.95. Included in combo was spinach & artichoke dip with chips, boneless chicken wings - we chose hot buffalo, chicken quesadillas & mozzarella sticks. We also chose blue cheese for chicken and ranch for mozzarella sticks. 2. My husband went to pick up & stood there as servers walked right past him not bothering to ask if he needed help. A few minutes later a waitress comes out with a bag, says my name & hands my husband the bag & just walks away. I can assure you my husband does not look like a Nicole. 3. Straight & to the point. The spinach & artichoke dip was thin. It wasn't watery per say but not the creamy dip that you could load on a chip. As for the chips, they should have been thrown away the day before. Not a crunch to them. Just stale. Boneless hot buffalo wings were soggy and tasted like vinegar with no heat. Ordered blue cheese got ranch. Mozzarella sticks were fine. Cooked through and requested ranch included. The chicken quesadillas receive no complaints. Good as always. So disrespectful staff and food that should not have been served to anyone. Burnt Pretzels from the McKinney Applebee's on University Dr. Imagine how disappointed I was. I love soft pretzels with flaked salt on top. I often order only an appetizer for my meal, so I was excited to find these soft pretzels with beer cheese and brown mustard for dipping. $10.99. I couldn't wait to try them. Uber Eats delivered without the usual long wait. Imagine my disappointment when I opened the bag and found these pitifully burned pretzels. Seriously? Why would their kitchen even send these out??? I don't mind browned food and generally prefer nicely browned to pale, but one bite of these and it was clear. These had to be thrown away! The burned flavor was all you could taste!! Stopped here for a late lunch on a Monday. We were acknowledged by the bartender immediately upon entering and were seated shortly thereafter. My boyfriend and I both ordered from the lunch combo menu, which allows you to pick two choices from two lists of food. I ordered the Turkey, Bacon and Avocado Sandwich and Tomato Basil Soup. He had the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad and 4-Cheese Mac & Cheese with Honey Pepper Chicken Tenders. I was surprised that there were quite a few people in the restaurant for a late Monday afternoon. It appeared to be quite popular with the elderly crowd! Our food was delivered in a timely manner and our drinks never got below half full. Tomato basil soup was the perfect temperature and delicious, I enjoyed dipping my sandwich in it. It was gone too soon but was the perfect amount of food for lunch. My boyfriend commented that there was a good amount of dressing on his salad, as some places tend to not provide enough dressing. He also enjoyed the slightly sweet flavor of the mac & cheese dish. I do think the restaurant probably needs at least another server during the day. The poor girl was doing her best, but there was one rude patron, who actually called across the restaurant to get her attention, and failing, got up, walked over to the server (who was helping another customer) and said "I'm ready to order now." How rude! She may have been slightly delayed, but we were well taken care of, and I've had much, much worse service. I have nothing nice to say about this place. I was ignored for about 5 mins while the general manager, I presume, looked on. When I was seated, I had not flatware. I placed my order for a steak cooked medium and I cooked well done, the green beans were salty and the mashed potato's had no taste. It was a shift change going on and the young lady that came on seemed very nice. My girlfriend and her roommate and I were wondering what to do for dinner on Thanksgiving. Did we want to cook (Nope), did we want to go out (Yep). And of course, what is open? Idea of Applebee's came up. We also wanted to watch the Cowboys game. With the holiday, Applebee's had a "limited" menu, which didn't look that limited. I had the "Holiday Dinner" of sliced turkey, garlic mashed potatoes, stuffing and green beans and a sweet tea. They had a steak and a burger. Hi, it's 2 stars because this location not once but twice, when I ordered Mac n cheese 4 cheese, I asked for it with no meat and they said ok and gave it to me. Thanks to the Greenville location, I know now that the sauce has bacon in it that they can't remove. Me, I'm a vegetarian. Not a recent choice, I literally haven't eaten meat since 2003 and I was born in 2000. That explains why every time I left there I had a stomach ache, either they don't know what's in the food they're serving or they think vegetarians deserve to eat meat without knowing. I used the order online line feature for a second time yesterday. The first experience left a lot to be desired but I figured I'd give it another chance. When you place your order you get to pick whether to go in to pick up or pick up "curbside". Both times I picked the latter. The first time I called after a long wait and this time I went in after a long wait. My food was waiting but the waitress had to get someone else to help me. That person seemed inconvenienced. I haven't set foot in an Applebee's in at least 20 years, and after today's adventure, it is coming back to me why I have not. There were 4 diners in our party. I believe they were featuring a special holiday menu. Nothing looked appealing so I ordered only the tortilla soup. A chicken Caesar salad and 2 broccoli chicken alfredos completed the tables order. When the food arrived, the soup was barely lukewarm. Both pasta plates were cold. I rejected the offer to go heat up the soup. The pasta came back hot and was delivered by the GM. I was really hoping this place would prove me wrong but from the second I walked through the door I was uncomfortable. My boyfriend and I came Tuesday night around 9pm. We walked in and no one greeted us or said anything the guy at the bar just left us standing there looking stupid. A minute later a guy looking like Kenny rogers came out and seated us. Our waitress was nice. However she took forever and would disappear for extended periods of time. I got up to use the restroom and when I ran into the manager (guy who seated us) I asked where the restroom was and he said follow the carpet (no help). Bathrooms were equal to that of a decent gas station. The food was horrible. I even hated using the silverware. I'd rather eat with plasticware than cheap flat old worn silverware. His burger looked great hence the 2 stars. My burger however looked like someone could obviously care less. There was no cheese sauce what so ever, the cheddar cheese just looked dry and pitiful, and the special mustard they make was a joke there was a very small dab on the bottom bun. If I could it would be less than a star, we went to dine in on new years eve, the place was not crowded at all and. Our server was slow and couldn't remember anything. The food was horrible. They didn't bring all of our food . After asking several times for our food and drinks that never came we finally asked to speak with a manager. He finally came and just had one excuse after another stating they were not prepared for New Year's eve. Our server said that he had several tables and he was the only server and apologized.
