This place has gone downhill hill from the food to the service!! Grubhub tried to pick my $80 order and was given one small bag. When the driver questioned it the said oops they hadn't finished the order! Then they gave him another bag and when he delivered I was missing a whole another meal!!! I called the Manager and she said they are having issues and because it was Grubhub she couldn't give me a credit on my credit card. She took my address and said she would send me gift cards. The service has been fine, it's the lack of quality in the food that's the biggest issue. Don't even think about it getting take out - that's even worse! We really enjoy Applebee's! That is until tonight! Waited 45 minutes for a table for 2. We were then seated and waited another 15-20 minutes before the hostess figured out no one was waiting on us. She came over and asked what we would like to drink. Told her 2 Pepsi's and told her we really didn't appreciate the fact that we were being ignored. She proceeded to give us a whiny sing song about how the one big table were celebrating a birthday and they deserved all the attention. She said she would be waiting on us and we should start over with different attitudes. Let me tell you, I am 70 and my husband is 75 and we don't NEED a lecture from some little snit. The manager at this location picked out who he wanted to be nice to and was very loud and obnoxious! We left without ordering and will NOT BE GOING BACK! All customers should be treated equally and they have a lot to learn. The hostess needs a lesson on lecturing customers and the loud clown of a manager needs to tone it down! read more

After waiting an exceptionally long time to place our drink order, then another long wait to place our food order. we had the 2/$24 deal, onion rings for an appetizer were bland and doughy. The waitress set them down & just left without asking if we needed anything, which we both wanted dipping sauce. I had the blackened steak pasta, the brradstick had to be old because it was like cardboard. The pasta was bland and mushy. The steak was good though. My fiance had the shrimp pasta and had the same issue. My dinner was comped as I was forthcoming when the manager asked how we were doing. I will never go back. read more

Staff just looked at us when we walked in. 4 of them including the manager was within talking distance of us and no one welcomed us. It looked like they were avoiding seating anyone. Took another 2 minutes for someone to walk over and seat us. Food was average. Boyfriend ordered the triple bacon burger and it seriously came with only two strips if bacon. Leaving, again staff were around but nobody acknowledged us let alone thanked us for coming. Manager was again one of them. Never going back to this location. read more

Our waiter told us if we ate everything off our plates, we'd get free cookies. At the end of our meal, he said I wouldn't get any because I chose not to eat a piece of lettuce that fell onto the table, which was built-up in layers of gross, sticky grime. A lot of people assume that all chain restaurant locations are more or less the same, but there is often a lot of variation between different locations. As far as Applebee's goes, the Mentor location is one of the best in my opinion. The food was good, the service was fast and polite, the restaurant was clean and inviting, and the price is right. It's everything you could ask for from a casual dining restaurant. No, it's not a super hip indie restaurant with certified fresh organic ingredients and trendy music piped in through the speakers. But of you've got twenty bucks in your pocket and you want to catch up with an old friend over a burger and a couple drinks, you could sure do a whole lot worse. read more

I normally have a 4 star time when I go there or order out but today my husband wanted to order out and I wasn't feeling it but I agreed I got the French onion soup(my favorite), garlic mashed potatoes, the boneless honey BBQ wings, and the double glazed ribs. My husband got something else, everything was good until I got to the ribs I ate the smaller end piece it was soo peppery not spicy peppery like they caked it with pepper... My lips have been tingling for 45 minutes and it made me so sick it was soo covered in pepper. The worst part is from what I could taste from the sauce it tasted watery and bland. I am sorry but this had to be shared I've never had something like this happen to me at a restaurant. I really hope this never happens again. read more

We attended a benefit fund-raiser and found the line waiting for tables was out the door, despite an entire section of 12 four-seat tables being available (those tables remained unoccupied during our visit). The food was -very- greasy and the 'all-you-can-eat' portions were small with an extended wait between server visits to order more (in all fairness, our server was responsible for at least five other tables). We were warned before our visit that this particular restaurant was under-staffed and the food quality very poor. Not a big fan of Applebee's before this visit which did nothing to improve our opinion. No opinion on the bar, but there are MUCH better nearby places to visit for a better dining experience. read more

Douglas is the best! Very attentive and friendly. We come from Parma just to fine hear and we have been lucky the last two times to have been waited on by him. The food is always fresh and tasty. I have a long time relationship with Applebee's . Our waiter Christian was very pleasant and our food was hot and delicious. This is one of the best Applebee's in northern Ohio. I don't normally eat out as I am fairly health conscious and most restaurants use horrible quality ingredients and too much salt buuuut I was feeling lazy and I'll be gone for a few days so I didn't want to go far or have food in my fridge going bad. I ordered food online from the Applebee's a few blocks away. I only wanted fish for some reason and didn't have a taste for anything else. The only fish they showed was blackened tilapia and salmon. I chose the tilapia because chain restaurants never get salmon correct. You can't screw up blacked tilapia right? I also added some garlic mashed potatoes with butter, sour cream and cheese. I know, not very healthy. It was about 6:50 when I ordered and said my food would be ready by 7:09. I left immediately and got there just before 7. I didn't wait long when 2 girls came out with my check. Thankfully I optioned to pay cash and not credit. I gave her a $20 and she said she would be back with my change. She was back shortly and said my food was still cooking and it would be a few minutes. I said OK. I have a toddler so I was trying to entertain him while we waited. A few minutes later she came back with a menu to tell me that they didn't have tilapia. Not that they ran out but that they just no longer had it on the menu. She asked if I wanted anything else. No apologies, no offer of a free item, nothing. Just handed me the menu and stood quietly while I flipped through. I said I didn't want anything else, that I specifically wanted the tilapia and handed her the menu back. She just look dumbfounded. The girl behind her asked if I still wanted the mashed potatoes and I said I guess so because they were for my son. And I said, "So my food wasn't even cooking when you said it was." She said no and that she went into the kitchen to ask if the tilapia was done and they said they don't do tilapia anymore. Still no apology or offer of compensation. They left and I waited for about 10 minutes for her to bring my change back. I had left a tip over 20% when I paid initially but she did not give that back. I told her anyways to keep the tip because I'd been a waitress before and I know how much the job sucks. But to assume after all the waiting for nothing but a small side of mashed potatoes she would just keep the tip, offer no apology and barely speak to me? Seriously? I chalk it up to her first day of training for her first job ever. She couldn't have been over 18 years old. By the way, the mashed potatoes were disgusting, I didn't get sour cream and as I stirred them I noticed remnants of green onion I never asked for. Ended up driving thru McDonalds. Yuck. We go to Applebee's, expecting for a quick and cheap meal. We got none of that. We get there and our waitress doesn't come for about 8-10 mins. So, we order just a cheap 2 for $20 and the food was complete garbage, I would've rather had 2 appetizers than that meal. Manager comes around and is asking everyone "How are you, how was everything, etc.." Skips right over us. Thought we'd put in a good word and stuff, but nope completely looked over. Then, we get the bill. We're expecting about a $30-$35 for 3 people. It was $43. Completely not worth the price and drinks are outrageously priced at $2.59. Go to Five Guys next door for better food. read more

There are so few times in life when food is so carefully crafted-this was NOT the case here; maybe I should have know from the onset of walking into the resteraunt . The greeting was yelled to us from about 6 tables away/ at first I did not even realize she was addressing is. When our onion rings were served- they were very greasy; we had no napkins except what our drinks were served on. This was a bummer because they were greasy and overcooked. Took until our food came out for us to get some extra napkins-did I mention we did not get plates for our appetizer? We did have to ask for silverware to eat with. It was really challenging for my date to eat her steak - as all we were given was a butter knife . We saw why; her steak was very undercooked- not medium well. Very bloody -- they took that back but when they did I was starting to eat my ribs. They were way undercooked as well..I never had ribs that raw before. When my dates steak came back - idk maybe the cook was insulted; because now her steak was way over cooked. The water we had was perfect.i did eat the sweet potatoes they were tasty and my date ate her macaroni and cheese- that was good.. Past that; I would really recommend cooking your own food- eat at home; if you go here get the water or Mac n cheese because the overall quality of the food was terrible and the service was below sub par- I felt bad for the manager because whoever is hiring his staff must not want this Applebee's to succeed.. We suggested to the manager that I would be willing to pay for the meal - just charge us for the food we ate. I could almost understand if they were busy(they were not) the sign said they were open till midnight and it was just a bit after 9 when we got there . Went here for my sister's birthday b/c the Olive Garden had a 2 hr. wait and after what we went through we wish we would've waited! We had 4 adults 2 children and 2 babies in our party. They gave us the biggest both they had and everything seemed to be going well till halfway through our service. My stepdaughter all of a sudden started freaking out and standing on the seat b/c there was a massive amount of ANTS behind her in the cracks crawling all over the place!!!! The waitress had to move us to another booth and trust me...it was no picnic trying to move all those people/kids with food, drinks, coats, diaper bags, and so on to another part of the restaurant. It took a few trips to complete this seeing that non of the other staff helped us, only our waitress. We had asked to speak to the manager several times, but she refused to come to our table. We figured we would be compensated somehow for what we had to go through and we get the bill and NOPE, nothing, not even a free drink! As we were all getting our coats on to leave my bother in law walked over and stopped the manager and told her how unhappy he was and how we should of been compensated for all the crap we dealt with and ants. She said she was going to come over to our table when we were done to give us a gift card, but we don't think she had any intentions of doing so since we all were walking to the door. She ended up giving us a $30 gift card to split between all of us...she should've just taken it off our bill b/c we will definitely not be back there...horrible customer service...the Willoughby restaurant is much better as well as their management! read more
