I love Applebee's. I really do. That's why, with heavy heart that I am forced to leave this scathing review. The wife and I visited on a weeknight around 4:15pm. Well before the evening rush hour. I believe there were only two or three other tables being used. Seating was a little slow given the time of day, even at its busiest Helena is all over getting people seated. Ordered drinks, an appetizer and food without issue. I knew we'd need to-go bowls and asked for them as soon as the food was delivered. After a few bites of food, I was ready to pack up and leave and I looked around to find absolutely ZERO employees in the floor. It's like they all took a break at the same time. Not being one to tolerate something like that, I found where th containers were and simply took two of them. When I transferred most of my chicken broccoli alfredo to th to-go container, I noticed a black hair curled up next to a noodle. My hair is short and gray. My wife's is very long and brown. The waitress was a brunette. This hair obviously came from the kitchen staff. After waiting for a while I finally saw our waitress; behind the bar tending to things there. No one else was on the floor. I told her we were ready to leave and showed her the hair. She did get us a discount, but there's no way I'm going to eat my leftovers (all but two bites of noodles and a bite of broccoli). It went into the trash as soon as I got home. Yes, I'll eventually return; but I'm going to have to be really wary when I do. read more

We have been going to this same Applebee's for 15+ years. We went in just like any other time, after receiving our food our waiter promptly told us to finish and get out of there. He was so loud, obnoxious and yelling at us for no reason! When asked what is the reason the waiter said that the manager told him to kick us out because our tip is not big enough for us to sit and eat there. There were other people there and we were the only ones being singled out. When we asked for the manager she said she was too busy to come out. Mind you we were always respectful and have never done anything wrong. So rude so disrespectful and all for some mediocre tasting food.Please do not go here. read more

Sad day for me as Applebee's did not deliver the outstanding friendly and delicious service that we have experienced in the past...... maybe it was the time of the day? We wanted to take advantage of the affordable menu but there were many hiccups from the very beginning. We entered the restaurant around 4pm. No hostess to greet us and even though the bartender noticed us, she did not make an effort to welcome us. After a few minutes the hostess walked from the back and sat us, several minutes went by before the bartender came over to our table and at least ask how we were doing. Long-frustrating story short, we could not have the advertised 2 for $25 steaks because the computer system did not have the buttons to honor their advertised menu items. :( read more

We haven't eaten at the Missoula Applebee's for years because of a bad experience. We got a gift card for there s decided to give it another try. It was such a disappointment! To start off with we stood and waited at least 5 minutes to be seated. There was no one hostessing. People were lining up and there was no one around. First impression was the place looked dirty, front door, hostess area, and there were at least 10 tables that needed to be bussed. We were finally seated, looked over the menu and ordered. We got the Lime Chicken and Chicken Tender meal. Our salads came and we had no silverware. Our waiter went to get some and never came back. I finally went to the bar and asked for some. Finally, when we were almost done with our salads, he asked us where we got our silverware? He said that he had been waiting for some because they didn't have any clean silverware! Really? I told him I got tired of waiting and went to the bar. He then brought out our meal. The Chicken Tender dinner was cold and the fries were hard, dry and cold. My Lime Chicken tasted like it was a TV dinner. It was gross! The rice tasted like a box mix. Our whole experience was so disappointing....what a joke! Our waiter never asked us how our meal was or if we needed anything. Thru our whole meal tables were not bussed until we were almost done. A girl came out and moved all the dirty dishes from several tables onto one table. Then some guy came out and started to carry armloads of dishes into the back. All I could see was poor management and lack of proper training in this establishment. We have eaten at the one in Great Falls, MT and it was pretty nice. The Missoula location should close it's doors or get a new manager! Never go back! read more

I see the reviews here are not very flattering. We came here last week for dinner. Our server did an excellent job our drink were always full and if we asked for anything he was right on it. The food was good for a chain restaurant, we had the 2 for $25. Your choice of 1 appetizer and 1 entree. We chose salad for appetizer, good size salad and then we had sirloin stake and BBQ ribs with there mac and cheese as a side and broccoli as the other side. No complaints on the food. It was incredibly loud on a weekend (understandably) but we were seated after a 30 minute wait and then ignored for 45 minutes. My husband and I took our grandson here for a late lunch, we stood waiting for the no show hostess for quite awhile even though we could see her visiting with one of the waitresses, priorities! We finally got seated by a nice young man who saw us waiting and came over I think he was a waiter in another area because after he seated us the hosted came over to him and he apologized to her for seating us, he shouldn't have to apologize for doing the job of someone that isn't doing there job. Let me start off by saying that we haven't been to Applebee's for about 3 years due to horrible experiences. We decided that since it had been so long, we should give them another try. It was the last time we will give it try since it's close to the stores we are going to and it's usually quick. The food was not great, service was slow, but that's not even my chief complaint. My son picked up the tablet on the tablet and continued a game that was started on it. No where did we click to acknowledge or accept a charge. When the bill came, there was a $1.99 charge added for the game he played. It's not so much the amount of money, but the fact that we were charged for something that appeared free. I feel like it was sneaky and underhanded. With so many GREAT restaurants in Missoula, we definitely won't be back. read more

This is probably the worst restaurant in all of Missoula. I usually dont eat there because i like to eat at home but Applebee's used to be my very favorite place to go but now when ive ordered steaks to go they are not cooked the right way. The first time this happened i thought it could be a fluke or a bad day but then i tried it again. Same meal steak and shrimp. I ordered it well done this time cus the last time i had it med well and that was undercooked so i thought well done would be about the right temp. Boy was i wrong!!!! Usually I'm up for eating at Applebee's but the one is Missoula is not worth it. I have yet to experience good food here. Often times the meat is overcooked and the pasta dishes seem to lack any taste. My last experience included a horrendous waiter who was so concerned with a group of young girls that he didn't even look at my group while we ordered. I suppose I should be greatful he took our orders at all, the table next to us didn't even finish ordering before he tried walking away. To further annoy me, he brought our check within minutes of our food arriving. I had barely two bites of food and he was trying to push me out the door. Bland and expensive. Pasta and fish dishes are $12-$15 each and are thrown together without flavor. Pricing is confusing and it is easy to accidentally order wrong. Twice now the servers have not guided us through their various specials to make sure we were getting the advertised price (which was high to begin with). I don't like going here. My in-laws dragged me here recently and I wish I wasn't so polite that I didn't object. The service is never fast. Every time you need them you end up waiting an extra 5 min for whatever it is. They main problem though is the food. I haven't been able to find anything that doesn't look like it had been mistreated and thrown haphazardly onto the plate at the last moment by someone in too much of a hurry to care. Every time I've ordered steak it's over done. This time I just decided to share a burger with my son. He seemed to like it but I just stuck to the tasteless fries. I am having trouble writing about Applebees, why you ask, because the Missoula Applebees is like almost every other one across the US, some dishes OK, others not so good.... If I was rating all Applebees at once I will give them 2 starts, the Missoula one is getting a higher ranking because the staff is very friendly and the portions somehow seem a little bigger than some of the others I have been to. They also were very quick to refill my ice tea and that is something I have had bad luck with at similar places. I have been to this Applebees many times over the years and will continue to go back when I am in town, however I usually stay away from Applebees when I am not in Missoula so I guess it must say something for this place, or the lack of decent places in Missoula. read more

Went to enjoy lunch with family friends who have young children. The kids were excited to see the tablets on the table. While in conversation all 3 kids were playing games. We were shocked to learn that it was charging 1.99 per tablet to our bill! There was a small disclaimer on the tablet that the kids skipped by when hitting the play now button. Though the waitress was nice enough to remove the charge from our bill when we explained our situation how ridiculous that they use this as a cash cow. Obviously children see iPads and want to play on them. How about you make food and sell it to us and let the atmosphere be a bonus to your customers. Not impressed! read more
