Tried to order online but there was a glitch. I called, spoke with the manager to order takeout. Food was ready on time and hot! Order the New Shrimp Fettuccine with extra shrimp. Outstanding. Enough for a delicious hardy lunch the next day. The combination seasoning was over the top delicious. Applebees Breadsticks are beyond the norm. They are as good the day after as the day of! Not many take home sticks can withstand a day. I always have enjoyed my dining in experiences at Applebees. The atmosphere is always pleasurable. This was a take home which is 27 minutes away. We don't usually go to chain restaurants, but are in town for a funeral unfortunately. This place is very close to our hotel and we were just in need of a somewhat healthy dinner so we could then go get some sleep after a very long day of flights and family events. The happy hour wine and beer is a great deal at four dollars. That is Monday through Friday from 3 to 6, so we appreciate the offering. My husband ordered the 6 ounce sirloin and the standard sides of mashed potatoes and broccoli and I had the Cajun salmon with the same sides. The steak and salmon were both seasoned well and tasted good, not phenomenal but what would you expect? It was good enough and at a decent price again which we appreciate. Service was very friendly and prompt, we were there a little before 5 PM so it was not busy at all on a weeknight. We enjoyed watching all of the different sporting events on TV. read more

This has become a regular spot for me, my son, and his mom, to meet for dinner between Brighton and Grand Rapids. My little guy likes the kids' menu and their steak hasn't disappointed me yet. My medium is their medium, and even their broccoli is delicious. Great mashed potatoes too, btw. Service, staffing, Management, attentiveness to the customer. Waited 45 minutes to even order our food. Food came out decently fast and tasted fine. Bartender was on his phone, and we were told he was "behind on drinks" which is why they were coming so slow. Waitress never came to check on us, clear off empty dishes, refill drinks. Staff was walking around doing nothing, including the manager. We waited 20 minutes after finishing eating to even see the waitress and get boxes and our bills. Another 40 minutes with bills. We ended up leaving without getting our change at 40 minutes because we weren't waiting any longer while they "broke into the safe" to get change. Total we were there for 2 hours and saw the waitress 4-5 until she had to work on the bill and to walk back to our table 5 times to get the bill correct. read more

Why would I give this place five stars, you ask? Because -- rated against other Applebee's locations -- it's a well run operation. Let's be fair and compare like things, rather than measuring an American chain restaurant against something unique or special. What they do really well at this location is: friendly service. That's it. They don't screw anything up in the kitchen or any other measurable area; their food is "Applebee's standard" yet pretty ok. And their service is right on top of it. My boyfriend and I went to this Appleebee's for Vets day on lunch. We noticed others receiving their food prior to us that had arrived well after us. Finally, our food came about 40 min later. They only brought me my soup and no actual meal. We immediately told the staff. After 10 minutes we were told they had to recook my wrap because it was burned. Another 10 minutes later and it finally came. They added another side to my wrap which was great. So now I had mashed potatoes and fries. I then told them to instead make it to-go since we were ready to leave at this point. We finally received my order to-go and low and behold, they removed the fries and the wrap is burned. Food is good and ample. Service was friendly and quick, but not too quick. My wife sent back the steak which was too chewy. With no argument waitress brought another one that was just right. if you order the two-fer(two meals plus an appetizer at a given single price) you can now each have a small salad instead of an official appetizer, which are all fried/greasy. Every time I come to this Applebee's I'm always seated promptly, food is fresh and service is exceptional. I always get great service from the server Lauren and Darien. They both are very sweet and make sure that we are satisfied with our meals. I cannot recommend this place enough. I am so sad that i have to write this review, especially since this restaurant is my partner and I's "go-to" spot. Today on 12/11/2022 my partner who is a transgender black male and I decided to go on our weekly date night to applebees in okemos MI. . When we entered we were greeted and seated and soon after our waiter came in. Our waiter already had weird energy upon seeing us, my significant other ( who is transgender) decided to order a drink. The server goes on to ask for his I.D (Which is completely normal). upon my partner showing his I.D which still has his original female name, the waiter goes on to speak fairly loud , calling out my partners female name from his ID. He is loud and bringing attention to the table while looking back and forth between my partner and his I.D. and saying " WOW! SO... THIS IS YOUR REAL NAME?" and asking more questions. at this point we are very uncomfortable and looking around to make sure not too many people are looking at us. after handing the I.D back and my partner ordering his drink, he then ask for the I.D again, for the 2nd time. My partner gives him back his I.D and he looks again for a long time. Soon after handed it back the waiter then goes on to take our order, at the end of taking the orders he turns to me and ask for my I.D, I then go to ask him why when I have not ordered a drink. He tells me that this is their policy, I told him that this has never happened before, and I will not. In my mind at that moment I am still shocked from his previous comments and demeaner, so I felt as if he was picking, due to his blatant discomfort in my partners identity. After respectfully declining his request, the waiter goes to the back and grabs his manager Scott who comes back and reiterates the policy to us. I told him I understand the policy now since I know, but this seems weird that all of a sudden they are enforcing a policy after seeing my partners I.D, and making those uncomfortable comments. Scott refuses to listen, and keeps bringing up the policy. We were trying to let him know about the uncomfortable interaction between his employee and us, and maybe a more understanding approach to people in situations like this next time. Again Scott would not hear of it, so we politely got up and left as to get away from the whole fiasco. I am NOT angry at the policy or the enforcement of the policy, it is the fact that we are Africans American people, and apart of the LGBTQ community and it seems as though etiquette and empathy of the situation was not involved in this situation. My partner has had a hard journey, and even being brave enough to actually show his I.D knowing that he identifies as a separate gender now is a hard thing to do in itself. To be ousted, and embarrassed in that way and the lack of empathy, knowledge and understanding from not only the server, but the manager Scott is alarming to me. A course on etiquette in situations with transgender and minority people is very much needed, especially in the world we live in right now. At the end of all of this we left in tears , embarrassed, and disappointed , now I am having to recover and also be strong for my partner during this time which is going to be a task. I have visited this establishment plenty of times and am so hurt that this happened and we now will never feel comfortable enough to go back. Applebee's is this what things have come to now? I hope no-one ever experiences this ever again, please be warned. read more

Bad food, poor service, terrible management My husband and I usually prefer local places, but with a gift card in hand, we headed to Applebee's. After our visit, I was left thinking "...and that is why we don't go to Applebee's." We ordered off their 2 for $20 menu. Our appetizer and drinks arrived quickly, but that is where the happiness ended. Our drinks were never re-filled, my dinner did not come as ordered, and we never saw our waitress until she dropped off the bill...which was incorrect. She did fix the bill. When the manager wandered by and asked how things were, I told him about our disgrace of a meal, and all he said was, "Wow. Sorry." There was no angst, no offer to comp our drinks, nothing. The three previous reviewers were spot on, I should have stepped out after waiting at the door for a few minutes, This place was FAR from being busy, the host tried to move me to the bar, (In hindsight this might have been a good idea) as I waited for a server, I waited for a menu, I waited for my meal, and I waited for my check. My $2.99 lemonade never was refilled, I had a booth near the kitchen, it was like I was camouflaged to the staff there. So my review is a little different than the rest. I have never ordered food here...becuase of the other reviews i never did. I have been here quiet a few times though only to drink. And that is why i decided to do this review. I have gotten good service at the bar and the drinks are fine, beer and shots..nothing special. Though what i have noticed every time I've been there is that the staff cannot manage the amount of people that come in at the dinner rush. Consistently there are people waiting longer than normal for takeout food, people waiting for a drink longer than normal and i hear a lot of people complaining. This was my first time eating inside a restaurant during the COVID-19 pandemic. I appreciated the masks worn by the staff, the staggering of the tables for patrons to create social distancing, the online menu available on our phones, and the disposable eating utensils. The menu was limited, but we found what we wanted and the meal came quickly and was very good. What I didn't like was the server carrying on long, energetic conversations with others at a nearby table. This probably sounds petty, but many of us are very nervous about eating inside a restaurant. I would have felt better if the server would have herself scarce. I wanted to eat privately in the space created for us. The more she talked, the more nervous I got about germs being spread. She had a mask on, the the seated patrons did not. I had a horrible experience yesterday 08/07/2020 @ 7:30pm, and I feel I can not return to this location again. I have been a loyal patron of Applebee's for the past 15 years. So this makes me sad to write about what I experienced. I made an order in the app and it did not give the option of blue cheese. I called after placing the order to do customized options that weren't available on the app. I spoke to a server and she put in the custom options for me. When I came to pickup the order the manager brought out the order. She very rudely says "YOU OWE $1.59 FOR THE SAUCES!" I said "oh, well I don't pay for extra sauces usually" She says " Well you owe for them, and I need payment" I told her that in the past I had worked with other managers at the location because my mobile/ app order continually is not made correctly. I had worked with another manager in the past and they don't charge me for the sauces because I've had 6 wrong orders (yes 6). He said just said that I could mention that, and they would give me the sauces no issue. She argued with me and held her hand out for payment. My husband was getting uncomfortable and handed her the card. She stormed off and came back with the card. I said to her that I felt she wasn't being nice and we would not come back. She just walked off grabbed the sauces and handed them to my husband and very snappy said "HAVE A NICE DAY!" I was livid. I get home and one of the sauces was missing!!! When she handed my husband the sauces I confirmed with her that the sauces were there and she insisted they were. When I brought up the fact it comes with a sauce free she snapped back " YEAH A SMALL SAUCE" So not only did we get treated poorly, but she didn't even give us all the sauces. This is not the first incident with this manager and her acting this way. I've had a habitual problem with this location and getting to go orders right despite calling to confirm customizations. The way I was treated was completely uncalled for and I paid for something I don't even have. I don't feel I can go back to this location ever again. This manager treats people like trash, and has no customer service care. She did this exact thing the last time I ordered and she was managing. I let it go that time but not today. Also when we got home and unloaded our food it was all cold. We live 3 miles away. This location I used to love going to, we had amazing service in the past from multiple servers Kurt, Lauren, Darien, the manager Patrick and others. So I'm quite appalled of this behavior. A PLEASANT SURPRISE: This weekend marks the end of my son's first semester at Michigan State University. On my multiple trips up to campus I'd see food options within a short drive to try instead of the same old, same old. Off Exit 110, a number of food options exist and we chose Applebee's for burger options for him and standard American options for me. The Crispy Brewhouse Chicken offered a twist on the chicken-fried steak by amping up the crunch with the breading, sweet onion rings and herbs atop a tangy barbecue or red gravy atop mashed potatoes. Really enjoyed that the meal wasn't the typical brand-chain-salty or super-under in terms of seasoning. Well balanced in terms of season, the crunch was the dominant ,delicious note prominent in this meal. If you've read my burger barnstorm series, you'd know my son is a serious burger guy and in this case he gave the cheeseburger a big thumbs up. Out of all the Applebee's you can go to, this is the one. When you walk in you are treated like how you are deserved to be treated. Every single member of the staff is friendly and helpful. Whether you are here to have a drink, sit down and have food, or even carry out, you are a valued customer. The environment here is inviting. I know that there are Applebee's closer to where I live, but this is the one I prefer to come to. The one person I prefer to come back to is the bartender Matt. He works hard and pays attention to all of your needs. I have never seen a bartender who cared more than he has. I have never had the experience of being served by someone who has been more enthusiastic and passionate about his job than Matt.
