The best part about this experience was that we got our drinks. My husband and I arrived at 6:15, were seated around 6:35. Once we ordered, our orders apparently "disappeared". Our server came back to re-take our orders, told us that there was something wrong with the computer system, and our food was delayed. Other parties who came in after us received their food quite some time before we even got salads. And left satisfied. We finally started to receive our orders around 7:55, over an hour after we ordered. The party next to us, who arrived probably 45 minutes after we did, just received their food. Looks good. I'm a regular here. I love the cheerful atmosphere this place has to offer. The chicken nuggets/fries I get always come out hot, sometimes I get a garden salad; it's great as well. My son loves the kids meal cheese burger when I order it for him. The staff is accommodating to my needs when I'm there, also, it's always a great temperature inside! I am really getting tired of the businesses in this town that keep getting cheaper and cheaper and charging more for less. Especially the large chains. We have been going here occasionally since they opened for an after work dinner and drink or to take clients when visiting. The cocktail quality has declined on every visit. This last visit was the last straw. Wanted to take an employee out for their birthday dinner. My wife and I got their ahead of time and ordered a Martini. The drink came out and the glass was barely half full. My wife asked the Waitress what is this. There is nothing in the glass. Martini's have always been filled to the brim. The waitress said that that is the way they make them now. Unbelievable! We asked for the check and phoned our party and told them to meet us at a local non-chain place instead. I think it was like $9.00 for barely a shot of alcohol. I could of bought a whole bottle for what we paid for 2 Martini's. Cancelled our dinner order, paid the tab and advised the waitress that we were taking our party elsewhere and would not be back to patronize this greedy corporate chain again. Came here with my girlfriend and was really disappointed. Friendly service but not good at all. The food is tasteless and it seems like frozen food. The boneless wings were cold and had no sauce at all. The waitress gave us the bill literally 2 minutes after our food arrived. Definitely not a viable option for the price. Typical Oroville hospitality. Horrible service combined with small portions and high prices. Plus there new tablets cost money to use. Something they should alert you about. I ordered the Thai Shrimp salad which was the size of a small salad you would receive prior to your entree. It cost 14$. I only saw my server when she took my order and gave me the bill. I had to rely on the hostess to give us the flatware that wasn't provided. Also they didn't even have all the ingredients for the salad. The manager had to come ask us if he could substitute the Asian spring mix with romaine. Which is fine but reflects their ability to properly order goods to make sure everything on the menu is available. If your in Oroville and want to go out to eat just drive to Chico. Food is delicious and waitress Jamie, was awesome. Would usually give 5 stars, but when we walked up to the outside door to come in, saw a gymnasium style door painted an ugly grey. Not very welcoming at all. When we stepped inside was welcomed with an awful paint smell that you could actually taste in your mouth. Was thinking about leaving but was able to find a spot in the back where you couldn't smell or taste the paint. We eat here all the time. Really love the place. I've never had a worse experience at a restaurant in my life.. We were there for my nephews bday, omg we choose the wrong restaurant!! Took 20 minutes to just get water first. Add 20 more for drinks. Then We finally ordered, our food took over an hour! So we eat, and the food was OK. Not awful, but not great either. I do not recommend the Chile fries by the way. So then comes the fun part... The bill.. We had asked for separate checks. After waiting almost half an hour, the checks finally come. Of course they are wrong. Our server Jami gets all upset with us and said that she got it wrong because 2 people in our party switched seats.. Really??? Another 30 minutes go by while we watch Jami serve and cash out all of her other tables. We finally get the checks, sort of correct this time. We give our credit cards to her... 26 more darn minutes go by!!! By then we're mad, and ask for the manager. The manager Alecia was clueless.. Kept asking what we wanted her to do. We just kept saying we wanted our credit cards back and to get out of there.. Finally we get our card back. It had now been over 45 minutes that we were just trying to pay our bill!! Alecia ends up comping my friends meal. I say, "well that's nice, but what about the other people that sat here for 2 1/2 hours for lunch", then I say " this is stupid" Jami hears me say that, and goes ballistic!! Me and my husband came here tonight to have dinner, we were seated at a booth, we waited over 20 minutes without anyone even coming to take our drink order. Normally if it was busy I would not have complained. We love applebees food and have never experienced bad service ever until now!! We had watched multiple people walking by but and having conversations but not one could come help. I finally was frustrated enough to flag a girl down who said she was the hostess to ask if somebody would be over to take our order. 2 minutes had passed and I was heated we hvae already waited so long by this point to even get someone over so before anyone had came we started to walk out. I walked to the front and let the front lady know how unfortunate it was that they lost our service and we were already ready to order as soon as we came in without looking at any menu. This was the worst I have had at a Applebee's, it took 30 minutes to get our apperitze when asked got told their was a clinch in kitchen then it took another 1/2 hour to get our food which was cold I asked for a baked potato got fries they then brought the potato and you could not even put the fork through it and cold so the butter would not melt, manager walked by table 3 times and never even acknowloged the problem. So be forewarned, Tuesdays are kids nights. Kids get to eat for 99 cents or something like that. And they have a guy roaming around the tables making balloon animals. Also karoke for the kids in the bar area. There was a lot of "Let it Go," pop 40 songs, and cute kid voices. I really liked that it was warm and toasty inside when we walked in. It was probably a combination of the all the people inside and the heater but still, felt really good to not be cold. The best deal is really the 2 for $25 meal where you get an appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert. You can really fill up on that and it's a great price. We were thinking we could not eat that much so we opted just for two entrees. But then who knew that the portion size would be so small. My dining companion ended up with the salmon and it was two small pieces over some veggies. The plate was extra large so that probably also made the food seem pretty small. I got the broccoli and shrimp pasta (the pasta had the real Italian name) but it was on the low calorie menu if you want to find it. Not a lot of flavor to it but expected if it was on the low calorie menu. Very little sauce but lots of broccoli and shrimp. It was fine for me - not overly salty like a lot of American entrees. And it was an ok size for me - like I finished it and was satisfied. But for the price, I guess I was expecting to be stuffed or taking home leftovers. My dining companion still pretty hungry so he ended up getting the chocolate molten lava cake for dessert. I just had a bite of it but it was delicious and warm. Mmmm. Haven't been to Crapplebee's in a couple of years because of a horrible dining experience. Buddy and I stopped by for a beer a couple weeks ago, just missed a fight between a dude and his girlfriend, cop was there investigating. Most of the 20ish customers in the bar area were heavily intoxicated, cursing loudly and making fools of themselves. If you are the manager and you are reading this, you need your bartenders to stop over serving customers, Applebees is supposed to be a family friendly restaurant, not a dive bar. read more

Came here with friends and got a 2 for 20$ both chicken strip, 2 burgers, a beer and 2 long islands. Well first the drinks took 15 minutes and one was messed up. Finally the food came and the server had 3 plates. We joked and said "oh you have the other chicken strip right?" Knowing that the servers hands were full so she couldn't carry the 4th plate. Well turns out it was never put in the computer. So they made it "on the fly." 30 minutes later after mentioning they were making the order asap I decided it wasn't worth it. Well I caved, went to a pre X-Mas shindig and had dinner. Pasta with a almost tasteless white sauce. (hello?? can you add a little garlic??) Can't fault the service at all. They were great considering the heathens they had to wait on. (Us) I had what was called a "caramel apple martini". Food was overcooked, drenched in sauce and the fries were extremely stale. In 30 years of drinking club soda, this is the first time we have ever been charged for it. I've been here quite a bit. I love the Happy hour specials and the beer is always great right out of the tap. I seems when its really slow during happy hour the resteraunt is under staffed. Had the burger special on Monday at 5 PM. My wife had the Asian salad. It has chicken in it with a sweet dressing. She was exceptionally pleased with her salad. Applebee's is her favorite place for dinner when we are on the road. The burger was fine: fresh lettuce, onion and tomato. The bacon was crispy and burger grilled just right. I normally ask the server what they would recommend and/or what they have on special. Most of the time I am overwhelmed by the menu: too many choices. I know what to order at a steakhouse. Seafood places, Italian, Mexican, Chinese , I have those covered. These places that try to do everything scare me. It's like they have no identity. That said the server seemed rushed. I did pry the burger special from her. Really didn't appreciate the music choices. They would appeal to 30ish girls on the town. Not something senior citizens will appreciate. read more

We go to Oroville Applebee's frequently. Usually to take our elderly parents out for a dinner treat. We have noticed recently that the shiney photographs on the menu don't represent usually the food you get. Last nights Sunday dinner with the wife was once again disappointing. The two for $25 dinner we had was simply not good. The rib dinner.... I get more meat on a Costco hot dog than those ribs had!! The servers are nice and pleasant but seem to be absent when needed. We all think it might be time to start having dinners at home and save some disappointment when eating at this Applebee's. read more

I have always loved Applebee's everywhere I have been. This one however is a bit of a disappointment. Both the food and the service are hit and miss....sometimes it's great and other times I just want to get up and leave. Our experience is that to get consistently good service here, you have to sit at the bar. Not good if you have kids with you. To be fair, most Applebee's pride themselves on their superb food and service. This one is still relatively new (a couple of years) and seems to be still trying to find it's way. Hopefully they'll start hitting ALL their marks consistently soon. Good luck to them. read more

Man...it's sad that I have to give zero stars to this location in oroville because the one in Chico I've always had great service. Stopped it at 8:40pm by myself and wasn't greeted at the front door (which doesn't bother me but I thought it was odd). Went to the bar and sat down. There were several customers who seemed to be enjoying their Time there. A customer next to me said. "The bartender will be right back she stepped outside". I said ok no worries and just sat there...and sat there...and sat there. Nobody came over. No bartender no server. The place was pretty vacant so it's not like It wasn't obvious that I hadn't been helped yet. I asked the guy near me (must be a regular) where she went and he said to smoke. I was there approx 15 mins with no service at all. I'm sorry but I was extremely hungry and wanted some food and beer. Sad to say I will never be back here. I hope management reads this and acknowledges this issue on this day with this employee. NOT acceptable!! read more
