Terrible food and management. Ordered a steak. It came out wayyyyyy too salty. I took about four bites including one for my wife to let her check it out. She also agreed it was too salty. Waved the waitress over, told her what was going on, and she quickly notified management. A manager came over and not only did she NOT offer to make another steak, she said to me, "when you order a steak, make sure to let them know you do not want any seasoning". Really? I said maybe the chef put too much seasoning, she replied back "the chef has been here a long time, so make sure you order it without seasoning next time". Well, won't be a next time. Super efficient place. I order online to pick up and it was easy. They told me exactly how long it would take online. 25 minutes. And that's how long it took. The place is clean and bright and the staff was nice. It was typical pizza. Exactly what I was expecting. No more no less. The family was satisfied. Thanks for being reliable. Where do I begin......my Brother (veteran), my Dad(veteran), sister-in-law, niece, our mom and myself arrived at Applebee's at 4:50p on Monday the 12 of November (Veterans Day), greeted by the host, seated by the host in the very back corner of the restaurant, mind you of our 80+years parents!. Deana(our server) greeted us after approximately 15min (5:05p), after taking our drink order, my brother mentioned the Veterans Day menu.... she said it wasn't being honored today.... the restaurant observed it yesterday.....huh... today was Veterans Day, my brother mentioned he called earlier in the day and spoke to the manager to make sure the offer was good for the day (Monday) which it was, now we're getting somewhere! Orders taken by deana, Dinner soon to be enjoyed by the 6 of us. 25min later (5:30) our salads arrived, expedited by someone other than Deana. Shortly after that my nieces dinner arrived, delivered by yet another expediter(huh), than the expediter asked us who had the shrimp and salmon dinner that she had brought out with my nieces fiesta lime chicken, the 5 of us, all said (practically in unison) none of us ordered that... come on Applebee's, finally at 5:40 p I asked to speak with the manager, by 5:45p we all had our meals in front of us, expedited by,I think the whole staff. Really, almost an hour from sit down to service?. Matt(the manager) did credit $25.00 off of our bill along with the Veterans Day meals. I will not be eating at this location, unless I am in a focus group and getting paid to eat at Applebee's Petaluma. What ever happened to one server, one table! The worst service ever! Omg the heavy set waiter argued with my husband about his hamburger. My husband clearly said it was a chicken sandwich and the waiter said no it's hamburger. This is the same old stuff here. Soup was progresso before, could be the same now. Service was good, cute bartender. The food was lame, just no real fresh anything. I had a cowboy burger, they brought the wrong one first, it was okay. I added BBQ sauce, that helped. The side salad was extra, it was big and brought before the burger. Have been here about ten times, solo, usually mid-afternoon while driving north out of SF, with comfortable booth seating options and consistently friendly, helpful waitstaff. Tasty Reuben sandwiches , burger options, seasoned creamy tomato soup. Shrimp dishes not so good. Big choice of fancy refreshing mixed drinks and portions have calories marked on the menu in plain sight. Good AC and clean toilets, easy parking. This is a reliable, clean and comfortable eatery just off the 101 if you are heading into or out of SF, especially if at odd hours and you want something other than fast food. read more

I have to be honest, the wait to be seated wasn't terrible but waiting for just appetizers took 30 min I counted every minute, I was a little hungry. Once the food came it was cold to the touch and was not prepared well at all. We got one drink and never got a refill or was asked at all. I asked for medium on my steak and it looked and tasted like a piece of rubber. I got sick after leaving because of the food. I'm not trying to tarnish this restaurant but that's unacceptable. Last but not least for two people all this cost 60$ dollars I wanted to walk out without paying because I didn't believe I needed to pay that much for food that was cold and made me sick. Lets start with food. Wings here are very good even though their hottest is not really that hot compared to other places. The onion rings and fries are great. Burgers = Awesome. My wife usually tries something different or new on the menu and she has never complained. Food service has always been top notch and everyone is always very nice. My only complaint with this Applebees might be the margaritas. I have had three here on three separate occasions and they never settle with me. read more

Apparently this restaurant has an obvious "kids" section. The guy walked us all the way to the back because we had an 8 year old with us. Consequently we had to sit in a section full of kids running all over and making lots of noise. This is a practice I have never noticed before but here it was painfully obvious. I used to think this place was acceptable until we went there last night and had one of the worst meals I have ever had. I had the spinach salad and paid extra for shrimp instead of chicken. The dressing was hot and spicy and seemed like it had been made a couple of days before they served it on my salad. When I was talking to one of the other customers I found out that they use nothing but frozen food on their menus. If that wasn't enough, I got food poisoning from last night's meal and just now am getting back to normal. I was weak, shaky, no appetite and had an upset stomach. The only thing I can figure out is they used old, bad shrimp. If you must go here, be very careful what you order. This place is not for those who want to eat decent, healthy meals. The saving grace was our waitress, Jenna, was very nice, personable and went out of her way to resolve my complaint when I told her about the dressing. Convenient so checked it out. Food was good but our server Danielle was great! They definitely keep with the times with their tablet ordering system. Works well and it takes payment for convenience. BUT, can't replace a server. Danielle was friendly, attentive and very polite. There was another staff member named Dan as well that was also very friendly. Yes, there were a lot of Dan... there that night. ;) I was there with my two daughters few weeks back because my oldest (Danielle) had a golf tournament. Kids loved it...I'm a fan!!! read more

I am typically against going to large chain restaurants, but tonight my family and I were in a bit of a hurry and knew we could get in and out of Applebee's fairly timely. We were wrong!! First our server is the one who took us to our table and after we sat down she walked away without so much as offering drinks. When she finally did come back and took our drink order it took around 5 minutes to get our drinks. She then takes our order and seems thoroughly confused the entire time. I have a fairly severe dairy allergy, which I notified the server of, so I requested no butter or anything on my med rare steak, dry vegetables, and a salad instead of the baked potato (since I can't eat butter or sour cream). While waiting for our salads we watch other tables around us get seated, order and start to get their food. About 15-20 minutes after placing our order we got our (4) salads. The manager came to our table at one point to drop off a drink we had ordered but neglected to take away our dirty salad plates. We finally got our entrees, about 45-50 minutes after we arrived, only to find out my med rare steak was cooked well done and covered in butter and a baked potato that will inevitably go to waste was sitting on my plate. After about 5 minutes of waiting for our server to reappear in hopes of rectifying the problem I noticed the time and had to leave (we had been there for over an hour and had just gotten our food). When she finally did come back to check on things another member of my table told her that I couldn't eat the steak (without risking hospitalization) and that I had to leave since we had already been there for over an hour! She offered to have the kitchen re-do my meal but it was too late. I had already left. To make matters worse they refused to take the meal that I couldn't eat off the bill because they had offered to re-do it and I ate the salad (which was an extra charge). When I notified the server initially of my allergy I was told that she would notify the cooks, but couldn't guarantee there would be no cross contamination. I've worked in restaurants and understand this, but the way she said it (thinking back) made it quite clear that she didn't give a damn. Ultimately I am reminded of why I would rather support local restaurants who want my business, rather than a chain full of oblivious staff. Lesson learned! read more

Stopped in for a family dinner here this weekend. It was early and there weren't a lot of people in the restaurant, however, we were there an hour and a half. That is not acceptable for a place like applebee's where you're supposed to be in and out! The waitress was very slow. Plus, the food was just OK. They didn't get my order right and my friend's chicken and shrimp dish only came with 5 potato wedges. I've been going to this Applebees for about 8 years because I live close by. The food was definitely better 8 years ago and so was the wine list. Sonoma county is after all, wine country. Now when I go there the wine list is like something what you'd expect if you were in say, Nebraska. The worst! So, with mediocre food and cheap wine I rarely go there anymore. I will say this though--the service has always been very good. Cheerful and efficient--so that helps with the rest of the dining experience. If they would do something about their wine list and instead of changing the menu every 5 minutes, pick the best items and stick to it, I'd go back. Their burgers are actually excellent. read more

OMG! One of the worst restaurant experiences ever. Definitely THE WORST for an Applebee's! It took 1 1/ 2 hours to get our food after it was ordered. Then 4 out of the 5 people in our group had something wrong with their food! Which meant having to wait even longer for them to correct it. Other tables that had just been seated were getting their food while we sat and waited and waited and waited. We talked to the manager and he seemed to be clueless as to anything being wrong when we showed him the food. We had all ordered food that we were familiar with at Applebee's so we had to explain to him how the food had been served at the other restaurants. This was a very frustrating experience. Will not be eating at this Applebee's ever again! Had to give this a star rating - it deserves no star. read more

Oh Applebees why are you so inconsistent? We went for dinner last night and it was so disappointing. We ordered the two for $24 and my daughters half rack of baby back ribs had 4 small ribs.. It looked like a little kids meal. I had to order her a side salad as there was no way that was going to fill her up! I ordered the pick two. On the pick two, the "blackened" steak is a whopping 4 oz! It looked and tasted like a strip of beef jerky. Uggh! My mom and I come here almost every Sunday for lunch for the last year. We had the best waitress ever her name is April, our food was great and we never had to wait long for it to be delivered. Now that April has left the last two waitress we had we're very rude and the service was we're slow. We are thinking of going elsewhere . Very disappointed. read more

The food is what you would expect from this type of restaurant. The service was really good, the hostess and waitresses were very professional and friendly. The only real downside was the clientele at the bar. As this is a family-oriented place, the waitstaff /managers may want to enforce some guidelines on inappropriate bar behavior. Because the idiot who decided to get drunk during the dinner rush, and then converse loudly using f-bombs, kind of ruined it for me and my 7-year old. Not sure if we'll be going back or not, which is a shame because otherwise this seems like a fine place for a family friendly meal. read more
