Ate here recently. Food just your average coffee shop fare. What was disturbing was the 1.99 charge on our bill for use of their tableside tablet that holds games for use. We never touched it. Really, I was very disappointed in their menu. I get it that if you ask for a burger you are never going to get a rare one with such a skinny patty. Fluffy Bunny hopped in for an evening feed and some liquid barley. I nibbled at the bar which was well-run although busy. In fact, it was almost enjoyable to watch Courtney manage her bar-flock. Had black pepper steak and it was great along with the fire roasted tomatoes but the spinach was just a big clump not that great nor was the rest of the dish. Tried Applebee's curbside pickup for the first time tonight. Ordering online was super quick and easy, I paid with my debit card and submitted my order which included a description of my car. The online receipt said it would be ready in 15 minutes. I no sooner pulled up and turned the car off when the server came out and greeted me, asked me to sign my debit card receipt, and said my order would be right out. Oh there are so many things that went wrong with my most recent visit to the one in Petaluma. First the wait staff lied about the functioning of their heaters. They claimed to be out of propane, but they appeared to have propane depending on who was asking. Once we asked to see the manager about the lack of heat because my elderly parents were freezing despite having coats on, the rest of the wait staff refused to serve us stating, "oh you need to order? We will get the manager." We ended up walking out and going down the road to Henny Penny who had heaters at each table, fabulous service, and yummy food. read more

Bad food, flighty service, and disappointment. In other words, everything I expect from Applebee's. I have been to Applebee's three times now. After my second bad experience I swore I would never go back. However, hunger won out on my drive from San Francisco to Cloverdale. We stopped in and ordered something I did not think they could mess up. I was wrong. The appetizer sampler was mostly cold, except for the spinach artichoke dip. The dip was the only thing they got right and the only thing that saved them from a one star review. We were starving and so we did not mention the cold apps. I am sure they would have replaced them, but we were hungry and needed to get back on the road. I had the cajun steak, and it was gray. I have never seen meat this color, and the flavor matched the color. It was meant to be cooked medium, but there was not a hint of color anywhere on this piece of meat. In fact the color was so uniform, only the grill marks stood out. It was disgusting. My friend had the fajita wrap. She actually does not mind Applebee's, but she did not even finish the first half of her sandwich. She could not put a finger on exactly what was wrong with the sandwich, but just hated it. I recently went to this location and I was shocked by what I experienced. The manager came out to serve our food (Red hair/cheap grey sweater) and she smelled like expired milk. Went to lunch today at Applebee's and we ordered two cheeseburgers with fries. And we ordered a diet drink and lemonade. We waited for our drinks to arrive and finally the waitress brought my drink and said the lemonade would come from the bar...finally our order arrived, still no lemonade and she told us it would be a minute or so. Over half way through lunch, she finally brought his drink, after we told her he was still waiting! Drinks should be brought as soon as you place your order! I wanted to share how disappointing my experience was at Applebee's in Petaluma, CA. I don't normally go to this location, and will never go back to it. My family and I decided to stop for dinner this evening after an afternoon of swimming nearby. We were seated right away in a large corner booth. The hostess asked what we wanted to drink, and we requested waters all around. When she brought us the waters, I noticed that there was lipstick on the rim of the glass. I asked a server for a new one, he casually said "oh, sorry about that" and brought me a new one. Eric was our server and took our order. After a long wait we noticed another table getting served their mozzarella sticks first, although we had ordered ours before them. I then noticed a toothpick on the bench next to my daughter, and asked if it was hers. She said, "eeew, no!" Gross. Then we were served our entrees. The server (not Eric) said to my 15 year old daughter as he put down her plate, "just let us know when your almost ready for the next one...we like to get them started ahead of time." We both looked at him totally confused, then he said "is that the all-you-can-eat?" "No, I didn't order all-you-can-eat"she said. "Oh, I though it was" he said. Seriously? As if a petite 15 year old girl is going to have more that one platter of chicken fingers! As we ate, we overheard the server say at another table, as he served one member of the party, "that drink used up the last of our liquor, is there something else you guys wanted...we have beer too." Then later he came back saying the bartender made him the wrong drink. Then Eric came to fill our waters, spilled it on my son and on his food. He fumbled around with the to go box before giving it to me (I had nothing leftover). Our bill came to $54 and some cents including an undeserved tip. My husband handed him his credit card, and he said it was faster with the tablet at the table, stuck in the credit card and walked away. I tried to print the receipt, but nothing came out. Since I didn't get a receipt I don't have a check number. We left very disappointed, wishing we had gone somewhere else entirely, or at least should have gone to the Applebee's in Rohnert Park. So I usually love this place, I grew up coming here with my grandmother. Always great service, and great customer service. But sadly the last few times I have visited I have been so disappointed with the service, and the people skills. I walked in to Applebee's and was seated right away, it was a very slow night not to much business. My boyfriend and I we're seated, we had been sitting there for 20mins waiting for any of the four waiters and waitresses to stop to even egnolage that we had been waiting that long. I saw one of the waiter that had walked by go sit down and start talking to the host. It really had irritated my boyfriend and I so we just walked out and left. It makes me so sad they use to be one of my favorite locations to visit but after that. It will probably be a long while before I go back to that location. If only I could turn back time to 2008-2012 when this place had better quality food, a better menu, and better prices. I am not sure what happened, but it has gone downhill. Applebee's should NOT break someone's wallet for a dinner for two. And for the price, the food is absolutely disappointing. I will say that 90% of the waiters and waitresses are very friendly, and the service is very good. Applebee's is known for their televisions all over the place. The music is often way to high. The two for twenty used to have some great choices. Now it's changed and the choices are not all that great. If you do the two for twenty five, the steak taste like it has been frozen and thawed then refrozen and fake? I don't know...it taste very bland and very hard? Not sure who their steak carrier is...but it used to be better! I am a bit heart broken, as I have had so many wonderful memories with friends here. But, as of late, we are avoiding this place due to the poor quality of food and prices. It's really sad that a place I once went to in a heart beat with friends...is a place we now avoid. Great service! You usually get a table within minutes, even when it is busy. The food comes relatively fast. I love the appetizers, especially the boneless chicken wings :) My fiance and I love the 2 for $20 deals! The only downfall is the new automative ordering system. It makes it possible for you to order without a waiter and specifies that there is no need to tip when using that service. I've been here in the past it was decent but now it lives up to its name my bf gives it, Crapplebee's. To our surprise, Chef Boyardee guest appearance making the stuffed meatballs and pasta. It looked like it came from a can or freezer. My bf got teriyaki grilled shrimp, which looked freezer burned, grilled to a smokey crispiness, drizzled in sauce which resembled diarrhea. Also remember we told our waiter that it was our daughter's birthday in the beginning. He had totally forgot that we even mention that to him. Totally unacceptable. I'm writing this review only to remind myself never to eat here again. We're working late tonight and ordered food online to pickup. Even though I arrived late, I still had to wait 5-10 minutes. The food we received looked disgusting and was lukewarm. Our steaks were both cooked wrong (mine undercooked, his overdone), were mostly rubbery fat, and nearly impossible to cut through. My plate came with veggies but there were only 3 pieces of broccoli and maybe 4 tiny carrots. My husband got the pepper steak entree and it was pathetic how little food was on his plate. We basically just wasted 40 bucks and now need to go find something else to eat to help us get through the evening at work. I know, I know... everyone tells me how weird it is to continue loving the food after working in the kitchen, and it's a chain to boot. Anyways, this particular franchise has stayed true to the brand, and even after all these years the familiar favorites are still on the menu. They made me my goto entree even though it's not listed on the menu anymore (did you know any salad can be ordered as a wrap?) I also like how this franchise doesn't employ weird tactics to get guests in like some of the South Bay restaurants do (jello shots and bingo nights. I'm not kidding.) So obviously, I recommend this place. It feels like comfort food! read more
