While visiting Oregon we stop by Ma's to grab lunch, they have a huge parking lot and a very large restaurant where they can hold large parties. As we walked into the restaurant the right side they had customers dining and more seating areas, but they seated us towards the left side into another room which was huge with lots of empty tables. It was nice and quiet and the lady came to take our order and asked her which she would recommend was a favorite dish that the customers normally order. She said General Tso chicken! So I ordered it and my wife ordered the sweet sour spareribs and fried rice. My dish was very sweet and the sauce was think like honey it tasty but overly sweet and couldn't finish it. I don't ask for much, but flavor and texture are important. I saw on the menu that Ma's serves Singapore Noodles which is a favorite. I also noticed shrimp egg rolls also a tasty treat... or should be. I called ahead to pick up the order and it was ready at the specified time. The bill came to $25 and the service at the counter was efficient. Now, the food was another story. It was hot. It looked good but remember... taste and texture are key. The shrimp egg rolls were cooked super crispy but were excessively greasy. The filling was more like a vegetable colored mush than fresh and distinct meat and veggies. These were inedible as I couldn't get over the mushy slimy interior. The Singapore noodles were pretty and hot. The veggies were good and there was quite a bit of meat but there was just no significant flavor. Typically Singapore noodles have a nice earthy spice like a curry but these were just not tasty. The dish, overall, was bland. I will not likely be back. There are plenty of places to get Singapore noodles and Shrimp egg rolls that appeal to all the senses. Friday night dinner time and the parking lot was almost empty... I didn't try enough of their dishes to say you should avoid this place, but I suspect trying more would not improve my outlook. Two stars for timeliness and temperature. Everything else fell flat for me. read more

I believe it is the best Chinese food in town, we always choose this restaurant when we want a good 'sit down' relaxing meal. We just left there. I'm giving it 2 stars: one because the waitress was sweet and attentive, and one because my partner said his General Tso's and shrimp fried rice was delicious. My dinner was not so much. I ordered teriyaki chicken (no cabbage as I have a sensitivity to it) and we had crab puffs as a starter. Crab puffs weren't bad, but definitely pre-made, as it took less than 3 minutes for them to come out from when we placed our order. The orange sauce served with them was not my thing, but my partner loves it, and he enjoyed it. The hot tea came as promised, but was not very good and had a weird aftertaste; I will usually drink the pot on my own, but I had 1 and a half small cups and was done. Food came out hot, and pretty timely, but I'm not sure what I was expecting. What I got was an ice cream scoop of dry and somehow sticky white rice and three thin-sliced chicken slabs in a watery brown sauce. I took the first bite, thinking maybe the sauce was watery appearing since the chicken was hot, but it had a fish taste to it. I washed it down with some water, thinking maybe it was the aftertaste of the crab puff and tea, and tried again. Nope, still tasted fishy, and also slightly freezer burnt. My partner tried it, and said the same thing. I wish I would have read the reviews on here before we stopped. We just tossed my chicken and I'm probably going to head home to heat up some leftover Italian from the other night. I hope the owners read these-- if the chicken tastes like fish, it probably means it's being stored improperly or pans and utensils aren't being properly cleaned. I'd wager they used the same pan to cook the shrimp for my partner's rice to cook my chicken. It's a good thing I'm not allergic! read more

This was the worst food ever for $40.00+. The shrimp? egg roll was filled with greasy, mushy stuff. The egg drop soup had some sort of ?meat/sausage? in it. The rice was about as bland as nothing, and the bbq pork looked and tasted like it had been reheated a bunch of times. Chicken almond chow mein should have been called salty loads of celery with some chicken chunks and almond slices and soggy chow mein noodles in it. Sweet and Sour pork was either old or so over done you could not even penetrate it with your fork. The fried shrimp were 95% greasy batter, and the shrimp still had dark brown veins showing. Even the saltine crackers were stale. At $18.00 a plate plus 1 dr pepper, it was a huge waste of money. I took some of the food home, should not have because I did not eat it. I would have thrown it out for the wild critters, but they would have thrown it back. I honestly do not know how people get food there and say it is good. This place really needs to be shut down by the health inspector. Plus it did not help to look up towards where I think the kitchen was and see an Asian man just standing in the hall way just staring. The most i can say is Not appetizing. Most of the food is severely undercooked and watery. The vegetables come cold and have loss of flavor and color. The servers give you little to no time to order or ask questions. They even left the table without asking if we would like something to drink (the first thing they should ask). They often forget to bring sauce with your food as well as making sure we were all set with what we needed. The server was very impolite and was annoyed when we asked for things. Also was very half-ass about the cleaning (2 swipes of the washcloth on the counter and called it good). Food was very overpriced as well. Over all i DO NOT recommend Ma's. If your looking for a place to take the kids or significant other i would honestly recommend Mcdonalds over this. read more

They must have changed hands because other reviews are not even close to our experience and I love chinese food and eat it often!! This was Hands down the freshest best tasting Chinese we have had in along time!! We came from Albany trying to kill time while our son had basketball practice and thought why not. We were so pleasantly surprised by the clean environment, yes dates but clean!! and the wonderful seasoning on the food, the fried rice was amazing and seasame chicken and sweet and sour pork actually had meat in them. Not this thick yucky breading ! Actually nice cuts of meat!!! We will be back!! read more

I had the shrimp platter... The wait staff has good, I felt sorry for them. The shrimp was bits and pieces of shrimp, maybe 2 whole pieces... I am sorry to leave a bad review, but the food was so bad, I only ate a portion of it, started feeling sick, so I threw the rest in the garbage. I ordered a C-4 lunch plate, a separate order of fried shrimp and 2 eggrolls. I have not eaten here for about 6 months so I thought I'd try it again. The fried rice tasted moldy, stale, the shrimp had nothing but a very hard batter and the shrimp was so overdone inside they were tiny shriveled and too hard to even cut with a knife. The eggrolls were big, but the outside was burnt, but still soft, the vegetables inside were nothing but a mush, overdone and either way overcooked or just a bunch of leftover vegetables that had sat in a watery mush all day. That is the best I can describe the really bad food that literally made me sick. I took maalox in order to hopefully not throw up. I have to say this is the worst chinese food I have ever had. It all cost $32.00 which was a lot, but if it had been even halfway decent, I would have not said a word, everything is up in price these days. But it was 1:30pm, maybe I got warmed up leftovers, but the shrimp absolutely was not fit for human consumption. I am very sorry, out of three different foods ordered, not even one was good enough to consume. My advice, you can take a chance eating here, but it was even worse than when I went 6 months ago. If I could put 0 stars I would gladly do so. On the outside it looks like a cute place to go and take an hour or two to wind down and have a nice meal. When we entered the first thing I noticed was the drab decor, even low budget, small restaurants in other towns made this place look like a abandoned 1990's nursery home. Anyway, we were seated by a distracted looking staff, looking as if they would rather be doing anything else. We were given a small glasses of water, and we were handed the menu. This is when things start going downhill. First of all, ordering was very confusing, food names jumbled a page and noodles and chicken along with other common Chinese foods filled the page confusingly. It took us at least 10 minutes to order with the woman coming by, looking more annoyed every time she passed when we weren't ready. FINALLY, we managed to order. We were really skeptical because the prices seemed outrageous. Thinking of the price, the food must be very good, but i could have not been more wrong in my entire life. After about 15 minutes of small talk (since we were alone we were being stared down by most of the staff) the woman came across the room and I was ready to stuff my face, because the main thing I wanted was the chow mein (my favorite Chinese dish). The mess on the plate that was supposed to be my food completely upset my digestion. I had ordered a plate of orange chicken with a side of pork fried rice. The tea promised on the menu never arrived. My partner ordered the noodles for me (cheaper),fried shrimp, and fried rice. The "orange chicken" was 1,000 year old flour and egg fried around a tiny grey piece of chicken dunked in a sickly sweet and nasty smelling and tasting syrup. It reminded me more of sweet and spicy but the hill billy 2nd cousin type status, sweet and spicy. The fried rice was a hard chewy pile of soft teeth in a white glass dollar store bowl, it looked like something out of a low-grade public school cafeteria, but I'm pretty sure it would be better at the cafeteria. No flavor, far from ANY pork flavor. Disappointment. My partners rice was no better, worse even. The shrimp wasn't the worst but it still on thin THIN ice. The batter, like on the orange chicken, was thick and tasted way to old to be edible. one of the shrimp still had its GI tract and my partners last shrimp was 3/4 batter hardly any shrimp. Then comes the WORST (ironically) part of the meal.. the noodles.. I can not believe they could RUIN completely something so delicious. The "chow mien" was just vegetables, like they forgot to add the noodles, the "noodles" i guess, was clear long vegetables shaped into noodles. so nasty, so disgraceful, so utterly dissapointing. the whole meal was not worth anywhere near the $35 it cost to be disappointed. After about ten minutes of just sadly looking at this horrible meal, we quickly asked for to-go boxes and left. We dumped the food the next day, completely flabbergasted. I will NEVER return, and will not hesitate to spread the word of this horrible establishment. Don't waste your time, money, or health in that place; there are several better other places around, those I highly recommend (anywhere other than ma's). Think twice about going. Their food is really awesome accept for their vegetarian dish... its from a can, and when ordering....make sure they understand what you want, because if they get the order wrong and you paid for it, they will not fix that order but charge you again to get what you wanted. read more

Came in here yesterday, and while the service was good... The food was wrong in every aspect. The pork was cold! chicken was covered in sauce when we specifically asked for sauce on the side, & they didn't even bother to include our shrimp order. Furthermore I have a severe peanut allergy, and what do you know; the chowmein had more peanuts than meat! On top of all this, we paid $60 for our meals that we didn't even finish! We got take out and was horribly disappointed. The sweet & sour pork was large pieces and mostly breading and the only flavor was from the sauce. The cashew chicken was okay taste wise but soupy. I had to use a spoon to eat it. Finally the egg rolls with heavy, thickly breaded and not much inside. Will not go back. Swans in Sweet Home is much better. Wet chicken chow mien, Tasted very fishy,(can't figure that one out, tasted disgusting) all other containers absorbed fluid and soaked into other food containers.Chow mien was under cooked watery and fishy tasting. Only three ingredients-lots of sprouts two tiny bits of celery and a few pieces of fishy flavored chicken. Fried rice had many lumps of white rice obviously not mixed and fried thoroughly. Fried shrimp under cooked and doughy. I must say the sealed packets of mustered were in perfect condition. Three strikes and they are out! Never ever again! Basic Americanized chinese food with a twist,"they can't get a to go order right to save their patooties"....I have ordered to go at least 8 times and NOT ONCE did it come as ordered and this week we were so mad as we had guests, and live 10 miles in the country and the order wasn't even close (no rice, two shrimp dinners and NOT ONE SHRIMP,) that I called them up to complain and get a committment for some kind of compensation on a $40 dinner...the answer we received was "bring it back tomorrow and we will fix it"....tomorrow??? what about dinner tonite???? These guys just don't get it..... They better fix their customer service soon or they won't make it, the guy that answers the phone should be fired. Once I arrived I was really impressed, there was someone greeting at the door and ready to assist me. Talk about great first impressions. My family and I have visited Ma's 5 different times since opening in Lebanon for lunch or dinner. We always order the same meals but each time and every time the order was wrong and when brought to the attention of the staff the cook would return our plate and say we don't know what we ordered. I know the difference between pan fried noodles vs low mien, we know difference between broccoli and celery, or chow mien almond chicken vs. no almonds. Service, wait time and especially food quality are lowsy. We will not be back. read more
