Though Appliance Associates did not have the pair on hand, they quickly ordered it for me from their distributor for the next day. Though it was more expensive to buy from them instead of Amazon, the customer service and assistance provided made it worth it. They answered all my questions about the work, and the when I went to pick up in person, even demonstrated exactly how to swap out the part on one of the machines in their showroom. Last August, my husband and I moved from an apartment with a laundry room, to a duplex with washer/dryer hookups. We bought from Appliance Associates (having heard of this "scratch and dent" store from my father-in-law, who is knowledgable about these sorts of things). My husband picked out one unit each, they delivered them and installed them, and we've been trucking along ever since. Kirk at Appliance Associates had the Speed Queen units I wanted -- a matching front-load washer and dryer -- right on his showroom floor! The transaction went smoothly. He wanted to be certain that the "Ten Year Parts and Labor Warranty" special advertised on Speed Queen's website applied to the washer (he worried that it only applied to the dryer) so while he waited for confirmation I went around the corner to eat lunch. When I came back, he had the paperwork for that special deal (if purchased by Sept. 30, 2019) for BOTH units, so I signed on the dotted line. The units were delivered two days later and the installation crew was courteous, professional, and went out of their way to make sure everything was working right. The units have been running beautifully, and when I registered them with Speed Queen I received the Ten Year Parts & Labor Warranty I was looking for! It'll be nice not to have to spend a penny on repairs for the next ten years. I'm SO glad I didn't go to one of the big box stores, because my first instinct was to replace my old Maytag Neptune units with new Maytag machines, but Maytag simply isn't what they once were. If you want reliable quality, you go Speed Queen, and Appliance Associates was a great place to buy the best (and at prices BELOW what anyone else, even on the Internet, were offering!). read more

Less than 3 yrs old my Kitchen Aid d/w quit. This company sent a repairman with a minimum charge of about $140, whether any repair was done or not. The serviceman then quoted me an estimate of about $400 including parts. I reluctantly agreed. 30 minutes later, he found another problem and jacked the estimate to $500 +. Nightmare of an experience. The sales process was smooth and informative. Kirk who is the son of the company founder was very helpful. Although possibly misleading in the choice of brand. I purchased a GE washing machine and dryer set for about $1,800. That's where the good news ends. The team who was sent to setup the washing machine and dryer made a mistake and the connection from the water hose to the washing machine was dripping. I did not notice that until two days later. By then water had trickled under the wall into the next room and soaked into the hardwood flooring. That turned into a messy calls and visits with Ed (founder of the company). Two weeks later and I am still dealing with their insurance company. At the same time the GE set I purchased from them had a failure. The washer makes a loud rattling noise during the wash cycle. Several calls and a visit by a GE technician have not resolved it. The GE technician came by, looked at it for 15 minutes and declared there was nothing wrong. After this I called and asked Ed to just return the set and replace with a better brand. Same thing I would do if I purchased from Home Depot. The answer was that its not that easy and I need to be more patient. It could take another few weeks and nothing they could do about it. We will see how this story ends, but its definitely not how I imagined it would go thus far. read more

Was new to town and googled "scratch and dent appliances Austin" and found this place. Place was quiet and had ample staff there to answer questions etc. Found exactly what I wanted for $200 less than at other retail stores. It was delivered on time by polite guys and I am very satisfied. Most of there stuff looked/was new new looking with no dents/scratches that I could see. Will definitely shop there again if I need another large appliance. We just went back again to find a freezer for our utility room and found a great freezer for $200 less than we saw it at other stores. Works great, comes with warranty, and again we were super impressed with the amount of staff and the service. We'll be going back soon to buy a refrigerator, it's the first place we'll look. read more

We spent countless hours reading reviews and articles about washing machines on the market today and were dismayed to discover that most have an expected "life span" of 2-7 years. Sales people at other stores countered this by saying all would be well if we just purchased an additional 5 year warranty for anywhere from $200-500 more dollars!!! We are so happy we found Appliance Associates - one of the few stores that sell Speed Queen which comes with a free five year warranty. We had our new machine delivered today and Sergio and another gentleman carefully removed our two year old broken beyond repair Samsung and installed our new machine. They even pointed out some other problems related to our dryer that we can easily fix on our own. Great store - quality washers and no pressure to buy a warranty. I am a happy shopper! read more

The gentleman who helped me (i'm sorry, i didn't catch a name) showed me it would cost $50 something dollars. He excused himself for a sec to look up to see how much profit they would make on it (It turns out it would only be $10). He googled the part number on Amazon and found the part i needed for under $11. I WAS SO GRATEFUL. He was super honest and didn't just try to make a quick buck. I recently purchased a scratch and dent refrigerator from here. It is a great refrigerator, that Kirk helped me pick out. He was knowledgeable about the brands and helped me pick the best refrigerator for my needs and price range, which means he actually advised me to buy a fridge that was less expensive than the one I was initially interested in. When I told him I was without a fridge (and they couldn't deliver for a couple more days), he loaned me a mini, which his delivery guy picked back up after setting up my fridge. Great prices and even better customer service! I purchased a brand NEW (they're more than "scratch & dent") 'fridge from them; their price was $500-1000 lower than the big box stores (Lowes, Best Buy, Sears, etc.) Any business can seem friendly and attentive when you are making a purchase. What sets a company above the others is how they handle situations that do not go as planned. My 'frige did not ship when it was scheduled (factory error). AA bent over backwards to accomodate me, insisting that they deliver a temporary refrigerator (my old one was broken). I live just south of Georgetown; it wasn't as if I was "just around the corner". The delivery guys were great. When they brought me my new 'fridge (love it), they set it all up - completely. I can't remember the last time that I was so satisfied (ok - almost giddy) with a purchase. So, now I'm going to spend my time admiring my refrigerator and wishing that my dryer would break. In the past have used this company for years. Now when I call the service is terrible, they come to repair appliances without parts. I call again and maybe the parts are in the store. What???? Then why did he come without the parts on the initial day of service. Then I am told there is a return fee for coming back to repair my appliance. TERRIBLE service! Three out of four times I called, there was a problem - either the "person who takes service calls isn't here" or I got disconnected. Then they bounced me around and then informed me that I wasn't on the schedule for that day at all, even though I had confirmed it the day before. I can't express how nice it was to receive fabulous customer service at a stressful time. My washing machine started leaking and it wasn't in our budget to replace just yet. Kirk was SO helpful! They offer service and even put some of that towards a new appliance if it's unfixable. Better still, he recommended things that were wrong so I could look at it myself. Highly recommend Appliance Associates, and Kirk. Through a referral had a nightmare of a tech (from another company) come out twice - along with two no-shows/no-courtesy calls - all over several weeks. Gas dryer stopped working properly. First time the (other) tech tightened a loose pulley; the next time he said he'd have to order a regulator assembly and would be back in a couple of days ... never heard from him again / never returned any calls. Luckily, we never gave him any money either. So, on the hunt for the "gas valve assembly" so my husband could install... found Appliance Associates in the online yellow pages. First off, their cost was approx. $10 less for the part than a couple other places ; and secondly, Kirk, asked me what was wrong ... I explained, he suggested that I didn't need the whole assembly, just the coils. So, now the price has dropped from $125 to $25 - very happy. He even said if it didn't fix the problem, to let him know and we could go from there. Unfortunately, it didn't fix the problem completely - it was working better, but not great. So, I called Kirk back - and he asked if we had cleaned out the vent pipe. Yep, we do once a year. I had even asked the other tech if maybe that could be the problem, as there's probably at least 20 feet to the roof - and we could only get to 8 feet with our brush. But, nope he said that was good enough. ... So, taking Kirk's advice my husband make-shifted a snake - and we ran it up the vent ... past two 45-degree angled sections ... and to the roof. A little fuzz was coming down as I sent it up. My husband then attached the round brush we had been using every year to the snake with duct tape ... and I started to pull it down. Well, shocker, we retrieved enough lint to almost fill a 2 gallon bucket! Kirk could have sold us the more expensive part, and when it didn't work say oh well ... but, not only did he suggest the right part - he suggested the right maintenance. And, I can dry clothes again without pestering friends and family for dryer time. J Thank you, Kirk! read more

Hidden Gem. Been driving past their unassuming shop on Romeria since I moved into the neighborhood 15 years ago... I just discovered them when I bought a scratch and dent GE for my home 3 months ago. When I thought the GE was going bad (it stopped cooling). I called them to complain and they immediately scheduled a GE cert. tech. to come fix... BUT it would be 7 days before they would come out.... SO, Appliance Associates offered to bring me a loaner fridge the next day, at no charge. Later that day I figured out that the GE wasn't cooling because I left the freezer door slightly open and the vents got frosted over... cleared the frost... all is good. Cancelled loaner fridge. I went to Appliance Associates a few weeks ago to pick out a new washer. Our old one was giving us error messages on almost every load and another repair man who came to our house said it would be almost $500 to fix it. We decided to just buy a new washer, which is what lead us to this store. Kirk was there and asked what I was looking for. I explained our problem to him and he suggested I just replace the part myself instead. He told me if it didn't work, I could bring the part back and he would credit the cost towards one of the washers he had in his store. It was too great an offer to pass up. Kirk ordered the part and it arrived the next day. We installed it a few days later and what do you know, it worked! Now a few weeks and 20+ loads later, we haven't had a single error message. Kirk saved me hundreds and I don't think he even made a dime on the part. All he asked was that I leave him a nice review. Awesome! Consider it done. We bought a washer from this company 18 months ago. Now same washer is in their maintenance dept. A man came out, took a look at it and told us he could fix it in the house, but he would have to have an extra man to come out to help him move it. He indicated it would be much easier to have it picked up and repaired in the shop. Price was the same for either, so we had them pick it up the next day. I called them the next afternoon, and yes it was repaired, but it wasn't going to be delivered until Monday, this was Friday. It's important to note that we were made to prepay all costs before the washer was ever even picked up for repair. I spoke with the owner of the shop and felt that he was attempting to manipulate me by saying his people wanted to get home on time so they could have time with their families. I feel very strongly that if we hadn't prepaid for all repairs and pickup and delivery, they might be in a little more hurry to return my washer. He was clearly not interested in listening to me and repeatedly spoke over me while we were talking. They were incredibly nice and accommodating when we bought the washer, that all seems to be over. My washing machine died so I tried getting a few quotes to repair it. I figured that for just a bit more, I could have a new machine instead of a decade old piece that would probably break again. Called Appliance Associates a few times over the week I was searching because I was trying to save money and do my homework. Each time I called, they took the time to research which units were in stock and what my options were. Great phone service. Finally, drove to the store and was further surprised. Great service inside too. No, it's not a fancy shop. If you want a fancy shop with pushy sales people, don't come here. If you want to shop local, get honest help and genuine service please come here. I ended up with a terrific machine that would have been way out of my price range at a big box store and had great customer service too! A win in my book. The past two times we have used this company for repair have been a nightmare. Communication is lacking. They took my card to order a part but then never called to let me know the part was on backorder. When I called I was promised a call back from the owner about expected delivery date who never called me back and was intact very rude. Several days later I finally got ahold of someone who insisted I was on schedule for next day. The next day no one showed up and they said it would be that afternoon. At 4:59 I got a call that they would be there first thing in the morning. They were not and did not come until late afternoon. They kept knocking out my internet (router is above washer) and before technician left he assured me the internet was working. It was not and now I am waiting 3 hours on a cable guy. The technician also said when he left that he hoped everything was ok and if not we could give them a call but he hopes that we don't because "it was a really hard job". Wow. I run a small business and am at a complete loss as to how they can be in business while operating/treating customers this way. Save yourself the trouble and call someone else. read more

To make a long story short, the sales person (not at all high pressure - we had to ask for someone to help us) showed us several used units and some new ones as well for comparison.
