Discovered my freezer wasn't cooling, and we were in a mad scramble to try to keep a freezer full (and then a refrigerator full, because the whole system's compressor wasn't running at all) o food from spoiling. Bernard managed to get out to the house in a very quick time frame, and diagnose the issue (a relatively inexpensive relay had blown, but the much more expensive compressor was in good shape), and then returned the next morning with the part to install it and get it back up running. Our total time between noticing the problem and the completed repair was less than 24 hours, and his prices were very reasonable. Need to echo the 5-star ratings here. Bernard very promptly responded to my request for a quote for appliance installation for a new house, was very clear on the cost and what would be covered. He didn't suggest that he needed to come out in order to just give an estimate like some other companies. He underbid the other quotes I got. When he got out, there was an issue with the dryer outlet installed by the builder which I got fixed. He didn't have the right materials for the fridge connection so he arranged to come back out the next day at no extra cost. He did excellent work, tested everything thoroughly and was very respectful and took covid precautions. Would recommend and definitely use again. read more

I had someone come out to add Freon to a refrigerator that was working. The freezer was cold but didn't freeze ice cream but kept everything cold. Refrigerator was at 38 and freezer was at 42. When the repair man came over he had trouble with resetting my refrigerator. Finally after more than an hour plus he said it was working after resetting or leaving the door open to the refrigerator. He added Freon and said give it awhile. I woke up to a refrigerator that wasn't working at all. Freezer or refrigerator. He also told me I needed a new water line so paid for that . Amount Paid $199.23 For a refrigerator that was working fine the day he came and wasn't working the morning we woke up I could never and will never have them back. I had a garbage disposal that isn't working and pending the refrigerator I wanted to wait to get it replaced. Glad I didn't have him replace that too. I am a single mom and someone who has to watch each penny. I lost 199.23. read more

I have called on Service Today twice - once for a washer flooding and once to diagnose why my dryer was not heating up. Both times the serviceman told me he could be there that day and gave me about a 2 hour window in which they adhered to both times. Most recently I had Renard come to diagnose my dryer issue. It took him about 5 minutes to figure out the problem, quoted me the price on the part and went to his truck and came back with it, installed it. Entire trip was less than 30 minutes and after researching the part that was replaced, the price was very fair considering it was on-the-spot installation. Renard even swept behind my dryer - and there was some pretty gross dust/dirt/lint buildup back there. Hopefully I won't have any more appliance issues but I will call these guys ASAP if need be. read more

Bernard was very helpful when he came to service our Samsung refrigerator. It had been making a sound for a few days which could only be described as a mini-Transformer taking shape in our kitchen. I called him in the morning and, luckily he had an afternoon appointment open. Bernard called before he arrived, was very polite and diagnosed the problem quickly (frost build-up around the fan). I called STA Thursday evening about our 25yo gas dryer not firing up. Brandon took the call very pleasantly and said he could come over next morning. He arrived only a little later than the one hour window he gave me which was no problem. He diagnosed the problem quickly, had the proper part in his truck, and had the dryer working within an hour. I have been a loyal customer for several years, my whole family knows and likes Bernard. Between my own home and a few rental properties I have, Bernard has helped me on many occasions. He's friendly, polite, and returns calls in a timely manner. His prices are fair and he is always happy to present different options and what they'll cost. He almost always fixes the issue on the first visit unless he has to order a part. On the one occasion he had to return, it was no problem. He seemed more upset about having to bother me again. I am a do it yourselfer and studied numerous u-tube videos before deciding I lacked several tools necessary to properly diagnose the problem. I found Bernard to be extremely thorough and provided me with several options before proceeding further. Unfortunately Samsung parts are not easy to come by and he had to make numerous calls before locating 1 particular part in Dallas. Bernard has been to our house a few times to fix our washer and dryer over the years. He's always done a great job but we just weren't sure about getting our 17 year old washer fixed one more time. We called Bernard out today after I thought I had exhausted all my troubleshooting know-how on why our washer would not start. He came out, checked the power by the washer, and duh, the breaker had been tripped on the washer. He suggested we get a non-contact voltage tester (about $20 at Home Depot) just in case this happens again and charged us $0. I have a Samsung refrigerator which decided to make my life more complicated by refusing to cool anymore. I have 6 children, which means I routinely feed a small army of ravenous, and often demanding, beings. I'm aware that this is "a first world problem", but, in our house, not having a functioning refrigerator is equivalent to a tear opening in the cosmic fabric. I checked Yelp reviews and called Bernard at Service Today Appliance, hoping beyond hope that the name indicated a promise of possibility. My hope was not in vain. Bernard arrived a few hours later to do battle with my petulant appliance. He was extremely competent, knowledgeable, patient and deliberate. He was also quite good humored, which is an important survival tool in the swirling maelstrom of life with 6 kids and 3 dogs. Given the time he had to spend wrestling with hulking mass, I was sure I was going to have to sell one of the children to pay for the service call. To my surprise, and great joy, I got to keep all of my 'precious muffins'. His fee was very reasonable and I was very happy to pay it!
