My refrigerator quit working, I called appliance doctor on Wednesday and they came out on Thursday and told me after checking the fridge that it needed a compressor and circuit board. They gave me a price to replace these items and told me they could do it on Friday. gave them a deposit. Friday came Serviceman was at my house at 10am replaced the compressor and circuit board. price never changed for the exception of tax. They did a good job and was very clean. CONSUMER BE AWARE! This company is NOT who you want to call in an appliance emergency. Our Whirlpool refrigerator went out shortly after all the Covid 19 lock-downs went in to place. I called them and explained in detail what was happening and hoped they could help. They said they could and we set a date for service. Then the problems started. First, the repair person didn't call to say he couldn't make it until after the cut off time, which was okay with me considering the societal circumstances. So, we re-scheduled for the next day. The rep did arrive and properly diagnosed the trouble BUT did not bring what was necessary to fix it, even though I explained exactly what was happening prior to the visit and any refrigerator tech would have this (coolant) in the vehicle like a screwdriver. So he tells me the company will charge me....$500+ to fix it at a later date and that date may be 3 weeks away!!! Also, hinted that he could come back after company hours and fix it for me on the side. Uh....NO! Thankfully, I called a second company the day before, that came shortly after the A.D. rep left. They had what was needed in the vehicle and fixed it for less than $200. So if you are among the everyday working people, DON'T call this company, unless you like being ripped off. Total bait and switch!! When I made the appointment for their technician to come to my house for service on my Samsung refrigerator, I was told that the service call would be $139.95. I asked if they repair my refrigerator would that fee be incorporated into the cost. I was explicitly told that the service fee would be waived if they did the repair. This is a lie!! The cost to repair my refrigerator was $60 plus parts. They were going to charge me $60 plus $139.95 as the service charge. I even offered to up the repair cost to $100 to cover travel and they were adamant about charging the "waived" service charge! The technician left in the middle of the conversation without doing any repair on my refrigerator. Look elsewhere when you need an appliance repaired, these people are a rip off. read more

This company is a scam. We had a technician come out to our house in November to evaluate our broken fridge. He made our whole house smell like cigarettes and never even looked inside the actual refrigerator. He charged 200$ for the "evaluation" and said the part would be in within a week. Long story short, we called back for weeks asking for an update and there was nothing listed in their system about our part. Finally after over a month, I emailed their manager "Jackie." Here we are two months later still with no call back, no refund, and no information about what actually happened. Beware of this company. They have no professionalism. Their company policy is that you pay $80 for them to come over and detect the issue and then if you go with their service they waive off the $80 and you only need to pay for their service. Very fair policy that many companies follow. However what they dont tell you is, this policy wont apply unless you buy parts from them. They markup their parts twice the market value. But even this is something i am ready to let slide. Issue is they do not respect their own employees words/promise. The technician that came to my place for issue detection told me its ok if I buy my own part online/shop and he can waive off the issue detection charge if I use the company for installation. I agreed. But the very next day the company turned their back and wouldn't let the technician testify. Worse was when the company GM told me that money is more important to his company than one disgruntled customer. read more

Really, they are NOT paying me to write these reviews! LOL I have high-end appliances in my home and unfortunately, they are not living up to my expectations (recalls). This current issue is with my GE Monogram stove. There was a gas leak in the line and after days of arguing with the company about repairing the stove, they finally agreed to pay for parts since they deemed a 7 yr old commercial range un-repairable. Yes, this is a rant. However, thanks to Appliance Doctor's technician Christian I am on my way to a repaired stove. I really don't know what I would have done without their expertise to discredit GE's determination. Call Appliance Doctor (Bensalem) first and get an estimate/advice that works in your favor. All their technicians are educated in the appliance they are being called to service. I have used them faithfully for at least 4 years with excellence results every time. Finally, don't buy GE. Period. They don't understand customer service and are willing to give you a "discount" on a new appliance, but will not stand behind their brand for quality. read more

Absolutely pathetic service. I've got an existing ticket with them for a fix for my microwave. The technician just came over, did a basic check of the microwave and stated that he will come back with the details on what parts to be ordered but he hasn't returned back yet. I've called up the customer care and stated multiple times that I'm willing to pay for the parts as I just wanted the microwave to be fixed but all I hear from them is the product is under warranty. As a property maintenance and management company we used them at least six or seven times. Most of the times it was very bumpy road to work with Appliance dr. Everything takes forever, nobody knows anything at their office, scheduling is getting more and more complicated as they seem to have serious problems with internal communication. Finally they've got to the point what they are losing track of the work orders and try to convince clients that they are crazy. It's very not fair. Just last week we requested fridge repair in South Philly. After painful scheduling their technicians finally showed up. Being unable to resolve the problem, as it is always, he promised to look for parts. Week later after not hearing back we followed up just to be informed that we have canceled our order in the meantime, which is total nonsense. To defend their position and not refunding what we paid for the visit they immediately came up with cost of Parts being $2,000 for the fridge worth about $1,200. Just to give you a better perspective and other Appliance Service Company fixed the fridge for $475. They stated it was very easy part related to ice dispenser. I wish zero stars was available. We own several properties and have dealt with many sub-contractors and repair folks - so this should be a review that has real merit and experience. This company is a total mess. We were without a washing machine for 5 weeks - as they sent the worst repairman twice, ordered the wrong part twice. Not only charged us for the assessment they charged us a portion of the repair. Neither has been refunded. Then when I asked the manager if she could at least tell me the part - she said the motor and belt (as that is most expensive part) which she completely made up. I ran diagnostics and the motor runs perfectly. That is called FRAUD. Jackie (who runs the office)is absolutely awful. Rude, unhelpful, and not knowledgeable. Stay as far away as possible. Emergency repair companies are notoriously overpriced as you are typically in a tight spot. But at least they should fix it and be timely. This place is neither. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! The repairman from Appliance Dr that serviced my dryer told me that the dryer wasn't working because there was a bad switch which he bypassed and found that the motor is bad. He was going to charge me over $680.00 to replace the motor (minus the service fee of $152.35). I got a second opinion today.and now my dryer is fixed. It turns out that the switch that the Appliance Dr. repairman told me was bad was actually loose and not detecting the start because the door wasn't closing properly. read more

If I could give zero I would. Short Version--call someone else, no in-depth knowledge seen from techs, the customer service is abysmal and rife with excuses that not even a middle school student would use. Long version read below: It started off remarkably well--technician out to house immediately, quick confirmation of what i knew to be wrong with winer cooler (condenser fan not blowing and door seal not sealing). Knew that the $150 service call charge could be used towards parts so i was not too concerned. This all occurred on 9-11-14, and it has gone down hill from there. On Sept 18 i was called to confirm the part cost and then placed $100 deposit to order parts. Told parts would be in 5-7 days. Got a call the next day, apparently they have to get another part number, for some reason the tech wrote down wrong numbers. Someone comes out the next day--gets another set of numbers. Told again by new tech that Summit parts are really backed up and they don't keep them in stock. Odd i thought, but what do i know about the appliance parts industry. So i give them 10 business days, call up to ask where the parts are. I get told by Trisha that they are still needing the right model number--she had no clue that another tech came out to house. Some excuse given about personnel change. I express my frustrations, she says she will call me back before the end of day on 10-02. No phone call back. 10-3, i call speak to Trisha, who apparently could not talk or research my situation to even confirm if parts have been ordered. After another frustrating volley of excuses, I am told again that she will call me back before the end of the day. I then call Summit Customer service (the maker of my wine cooler) and within fifteen minutes, I learn that Summit only needs the Model number of wine cooler to order the right parts, and that the parts needed to repair cost in total $110. I promptly call Appliance Dr and inform them of this rather useful piece of information to Trisha--who then promises again to call me back. Friday ends--and guess what --No call back. 10-4: Half the day has gone by and there is still no call from Appliance Dr. I am told that Trisha is the manager, that there is no one else I can talk to there. Owners are off site. I have started a dispute with AMEX. Hopefully maybe owners see this and get someone do their job. read more

I should say that my experience with this company might not be representative of Appliance Doctor because it was actually Liberty Appliance who did my job but I got to them by calling Appliance Doctor and Liberty is, according to my invoice from them, "An Appliance Doctor Company." Anyway, I called them because my 6 year old Frigidaire refrigerator started dumping the defrost water on the floor instead of in the evaporation pan under the fridge. I know that this is a common problem with refrigerators and, usually, it is caused by an ice block which prevents the defrost water from getting into the hose that takes it to the pan. So, being a reasonably handy person, I opened up the defrost section of the freezer and looked for problems. The only thing I could determine was that water that I put in the drain at the bottom of the freezer cooling coil went on my floor instead of in the pan as it should. I closed things back up and called Appliance Doctor who, as I said, connected me to Liberty Appliance (though I didn't know that at the time). So, on his first visit Christian seemed very reasonable and knowledgeable. He did exactly what I had done and concluded that, yes, the defrost water dumps on the floor. He said he would have to go back to his office and look up the drain line and find out how it has to be replaced. He charged me only their reasonable service fee of $120 and said that would be credited toward the full repair, if I chose to do that. The next day, I got the message that the drain line was available and could be replaced from the freezer side. Ok, I agreed to go ahead with the repair. So far all seemed simple but when he came back and replaced the drain line and it still leaked, he said: "Well I told you that this was probably not going to fix the problem and that the frame is probably bent and that you need a new refrigerator." We are talking about a 6 year old Frigidaire side-by-side and I really don't think that a leaking drain line is cause for replacement! What was he talking about? My wife and I were in shock! He had said nothing like that on the first visit and we both told him so. We were extremely uncomfortable even having him in our house after this point because he seemed to be irrational. I told him to close it up and get out. He did not charge for the second visit but, of course, the refrigerator is not repaired either. So that was my experience with this company. I've been using their services since I purchased my subzero refrigerator, 17 yrs ago. I am very satisfied with their technicians. Therefore, I was shocked at the way 'Jennifer' answered the telephone, today. She was rude and belligerent. I explained that I was not making a complaint about the tech who had visited. I said that I wanted to know what maintenance was performed since I left the room while he was here. I mentioned that I called eight times and no one answered. She said that they had been in a meeting. She repeatedly stated that she didn't know why I was upset. Her tone was hostile. Additionally, she put me 'on hold' twice without informing me. Finally, a Raquel answered and assisted me. Unfortunately, I had a similarly, unpleasant, experience with Jennifer, last year. Management called me and the issue was resolved. The technician diagnosed a problem that would require $1000 in parts, plus a $100 rush charge. 5 days later a technician showed up at my house, towards the end of the 4 hour window of time (reeking of smoke) to tell me that one of the parts didn't arrive and he didn't fell comfortable doing the repair. 5 days after that, and I'm calling the company for updates every few days, with no answers. They operate using a "got-cha" business model. The charge a high cost to come and look at the broken appliance. They apply this "diagnostic fee" to the charge of their repair if you choose to go with them, so you're already in to them. They know this, and charge a HIGH cost for the repair which takes very little time to complete. They draw you in with coupons they place in every telephone book, knowing that they will typically refuse to accept them. This is because the coupons require that the repair include both parts and service, but appliance repairs are often service only. Their "got-cha" business model is pretty much the same as that used by Roto-Rooter, who also charges a diagnostic fee that they will apply to the job and also decline to apply an hourly rate. You are certainly better off using a repair man unaffiliated with the Appliance Doctor unless money is no object to you. This way you will pay only for the repairman and not also for the company's "got-cha" business model. read more

I had a very bad experience with the Applicance Doctor. I live in the Philadelphia Suburbs. I called their 800# at 800 842 4884 to have my dishwasher fixed. They came on-site on 4 separate occasions to attempt to fix the dishwasher, which would not change cycles. They were never able to fix the problem. This was after spending over $400.00 in repair fees with the Applicance Doctor, taking 4 days off of work to meet with their technicians. Their first visit was in November, their last visit was to fix this same dishwasher was in January. I told them I wanted to pay them for their time and effort, but I did not think it was fair to pay the entire $400.00 + fee because they had never fixed the dish wasther. They refused to work with me and to credit me any of my money back. I escalated with the management of the Appliance Doctor. They refused to help me in any way. I told them I was going to protest the charges on my credit card, which I did. The Applicance Doctor fought me tooth and nail with the credit card company, and they won. The credit card company stated that becuase the Appliance Doctor, even though the dishwasher was never fixed, the Appliance Doctor did deliver the service therefore they could not credit any of the charges applied by the Appliance Doctor. My credit card company felt so bad that they actually gave me a $150 gift card as a loyal customer, because they agreed with me that the Appliance Doctor did not act in good faith, but based on policy they could not require the Appliance Doctor to credit me. I unfortuately purchased a new dishwasher for less money than I paid the Appliance Doctor to attempt to fix my old dishwasher. Oh by the way everytime their Technicians came out they said they could and should be able to fix the dishwasher. They also claim that they keep the same technician on the same job. I had 3 technicians over the 4 visits, so this was not true either. I would highly recommend NOT using this company to repair your appliance. read more

I had a Tech come out because my dryer was not heating. I was charged a standard $89 service fee which would be waived into the repair work if I had them proceed. I was immediately told it was one issue that would cost $268. He then realized he was wrong with that diagnosis and said it was my Moisture Sensor and that itv would cost (again) $268. I was told he would have to order the part. I asked him how long it would take and after a delay he finally said 7-10 business days. I then told him I would pay him for coming out but to have his office call me and let me know if it would take that long. He then gave me a sales bill for the (standard) $89 fee to come out and added a $4 fuel/tolls/enviorment cost and even a $7.20 sales tax (Thought I had to purchase an item for a goverment tax) for a total of $101.15. Still havent heard from the office. I do find it outrageous that it would cost close to $300 to repair a washer worth $600 for a part that cost under $15 for two Moisture Sensors. My next step is to contact the Better Business Bureau. Thanks to YouTube I learned how to fix the issue and bought the part on line which will arrive in (1 DAY), not 7-10 days for a major business. we used this service when the ice machine in our fridge stopped working. the service fee of $150 seemed high, but it was to be applied to the work done. the so-called plumber, named chris, was in our home for less than 15 minutes and said it was fixed. he said we should have ice soon. he assured us that he would come back the next day if he was wrong. he was...no ice in 24 hours. we had paid the $150 fee plus travel expenses! we called back and they refused to return unless we agreed to have the ice machine replaced for several thousand dollars. we called a viking repair shop and set up a date in 3 days for them to come out to check the freezer at no cost. they recommended that we try to fix it ourselves by turning off the freezer to defrost it for a couple of hours. we defrosted the freezer ourselves and have had ice ever since. i truly believe the appliance doctor is a scam operation or that chris is an awful plumber. when i tried to call them with my complaint, they would not give me anyones name, or chris' last name. they refused to refund any of the money. very shady business. read more

Called for dryer repair on 1/13. Was given appt on 1/16. They cancelled appt and rescheduled for 1/18. They showed up on 1/18 but said they would have to order part. I made the mistake of paying them full amount. Part came in a week later but they didn't give me an appt until over a week after that. They cancelled that appt and gave me another appt. They didn't call me on that date so I called them. They told me I didn't have an appt. When I argued with them about this, they told me they didn't have anyone to send. No apology. They gave me another appt which they cancelled. I demanded my money back at this point. They said that they would refund me. First, they told me the refund was processed last week. Now they're telling me it will be processed at the end of next week. Sounds like more run around to me. It's 2/20. This started 1/13.
