This is by far the worst appliance experience I've had. Typically the people sent by my warranty are competent. But this time this time they are extremely slow. First the guy came and took a picture and just left, instead of processing the claims on the spot like other appliance vendors. Second, their customer service is a joke. They put you on long holds and promises to call you back but never does. Thirdly, their internal management is in disarray. They claimed to have sent the diagnosis to my warranty company on Monday, but after 2 days I called my warranty company and they said they didn't receive the diagnosis yet! I figured I'd wait a few days just to be certain that things were working fine before I wrote my review. I went away for the weekend, and when I came back home, I realized my fridge was completely warm. I automatically used my Yelp to look for repair shops and this one had the best reviews so I called right away. I called at around 10am and I had Mike at my door at noon. He looked at my fridge, diagnosed what the problem is, gave me a quote and told me he'd send a worker sometime between 5-7pm to fix it. Mike was back at my door at 6pm ready to work! He was really quick and did an excellent work. My fridge works great yet again, and it wasn't even that expensive! I was expecting at least double what he charged me. Long story, hopefully short:: Dryer wasn't putting out any heat. Scheduled Mike to come out on Wed. between 4 - 6pm (their required 2 hour window) and at 5:25pm he called to say on his way - by almost 7pm he arrived. Needed a replacement fuse which he didn't have with him - he would be back the next day between 4 and 6, not 7. By 6:45pm, I called & left voicemail, and he called back at 7:20pm - he'd be here in 20 mins. And, since I didn't want to waste ANOTHER evening waiting, I said okay - he arrived by 8pm! Took about 15 minutes to replace the $5 fuse and put on a new hose for lint - how much could that be? $65 PARTS!! Plus $100 labor!! I must say he knew what he was doing, but communication (a simple courtesy call to say he was running late would have been nice), and overcharging for parts was outrageous!! Probably shouldn't have left the new fuse bag behind, and I wouldn't have been the wiser. My dryer is working now, but I hate feeling ripped off. Response to owner's comment 5/9/14: LIAR!!! HOW DARE YOU!!! I was home at 3:30, and WAITED for YOU to arrive, and I only took my dog to the grass since I didn't want to be walking her when Mike arrived, and instead of beginning the job...he went to his vehicle and smoked a cigarette while I quickly took her to pee!! I CLEANED THE FLOOR UNDER DRYER, while YOU WATCHED!! Such a gentleman...NOT!! You didn't have the required fuse, and you returned the next NIGHT to finish job!! DO NOT LIE!!! My new fangled washer was on the fritz and was giving me a weird error message, so I called the Appliance Electrician and scheduled an appointment for the next day between 9-10am. Mike was at my house promptly @ 9 and got to work. He quickly diagnosed and explained the problem to me. The cost of repair seemed reasonable and fortunately he had the part I needed in his truck -- so he was able to fix it straight away. Total cost of visit including parts/labor $150. Washer is working great now! Turns out the part I needed was a new door lock assembly, and after doing some research online this seems this is a common problem with this particular model of washer. How well someone does often depends upon the problem they are called on to fix. Based upon my experience, Appliance Electrician does not do well with major home air conditioning issues. My home air conditioning unit began to break down in the recent heat wave. Reading the extremely positive Yelp reviews, I called on Appliance Electrician. The first technician who arrived, Hany, was completely stumped, did nothing, and charged me $45 for a service call. A couple of days later (on Labor Day) the owner Mike came out, cleaned out the system's air filter, and said it needed more Freon. After not showing up the next day when he said he would, he came a day later, and added more gas -- billing $200. That night, the same problem reoccurred. I then called in Air Tro of Pasadena, who came out when scheduled and diagnosed the issue as caused by dirt covered coils in the evaporator unit -- using a camera probe to examine the interior of the evaporator where the problem was. Neither Hany nor Mike had any such diagnostic equipment. Nor did they have the kind of sophisticated electronic leak detector which Air Tro did.. Appliance Electrician may do well with the repair of basic appliances. I don't know. I do know that on my issue they completely missed the boat, billing $250 in the process. (I ended up sending them an additional check for $100 just to be done with it.) If you think you have a serious ac issue, call someone who specializes in ac service. That's not these guys. read more

No hidden charge! My washing machine was destroyed by a rat. So, I decided that I need to replace it instead of having it fixed. The technician never pressured me to fix it. He even hauled it away for me when I asked. Try them yourself if you don't believe me. Worst case scenario, you are down $25. But I know you will be impressed with them just like I was. THE STORY: I called AE because they had good reviews and were open late. Most places are closed by 6pm, and you know things never go wrong during normal business hours! my half-size refrigerator had suddenly started spraying coolant on the inside and the auto-defrost had stopped working a while ago... There was a fair bit of confusion as to who was going to be where, when, what needed doing, and who was going to call me back. But ultimately Mike was willing to drive out well after 7pm and take a look at my poor broken mini refrigerator. (I am a college student - It's all I have!) I described everything that it had been doing, he took a look, then said it was beyond saving. I didn't want to believe him, so I pestered him with questions. He sat with me for a moment and explained more clearly what had gone wrong, why it wouldn't be worth a fancy repair, and better to buy a new one. He was very respectful, didn't charge me anything for the visit, and was on his way inside of 20 minutes. THE CONCLUSION: Since I had no repairs done I can't attest to the quality of repair or compare costs. But I gave AE a high rating because I cannot even tell you how much I appreciated Mike coming out so much later than most repairmen would even have been open, let alone not charging me anything for the quick visit. There are a lot of people who would charge money just for coming out to take a look, even if they didn't do any work! I am pleased to say I believe Mike is a very straightforward fair guy. --------------------- P.S. I still don't want to believe it's complete toast (good fridge has lasted almost 4 years!), but now that the inside is sprayed with coolant and Mike has backed what my father (an engineer) had already suspected from over the phone...
