He was able to determine that it was the compressor and that my unit was closed to 20 years old and could do with an upgrade. What a great find! Was referred by our neighbor after we were having problems with our a/c unit. It turns out that we never replaced our air filter (lesson to all - regularly replace your A/C filter so that it doesn't blow out your motor) since we moved into our home about 2 years ago and therefore our motor was working against a clogged filtration system. Needless to say we had to replace the piece. We contacted Rafik late at night on July 4 and he was very prompt in his response. He had his colleague Arturo come out the next day promptly (even earlier than planned), was able to diagnose the problem and after a few hours, our A/C unit is now working again in the midst of our heatwave.
